To all you small creaters out there, just the fact that you are here means you are trying to improve and you are in the process. Just don't give up, you will make it too :D
Thank you 🙇
Just ordered this to go with Rodecaster Duo & Stream Deck, Podmic, HD 280 Pro headset and Stream yard account. Can't wait!!!
I appreciate this so much. Thanks for the encouragement.
today, 29/05/24, ordered mine - the pro version.
I’ve been debating buying one forever. Thank God you guys covered it. You just have a way of explaining things to normal people without all of the techie talk. Thank you.
A Tool You Never Know You Need. Untill You Need, Then You Go Crazy Searching For The Perfect Tools. Thanks Omar. Really Appreciated.
You just simplified describing all 3 switchers in less than 8 minutes for me. I needed to see this video. Thank You!!!
I taught online all through lockdown and I actually bought the Atem mini before lockdown for the exact purpose you described. I also record videos for a UA-cam channel for my Biology lessons and it works brilliantly for avoiding the need for editing and speeds up my ability to shoot and upload immediately. A great gadget and I can attest to the fact that it works for the intended purpose described by you.
That is really handy, especially when it comes to composing different shots for a video. Nice job, I’ll most likely use this for future videos on my channel.
Looking at starting a you tube and was scared about editing. This review is a game changer. Will watch related vids
Love the simplicity and knowledge of operation of products being displayed, great job
IMO, one of the most useful tutorial/reviews you guys have put out lately! I'm very likely to purchase the middle tier for my podcast, real soon! Cheers, Omar 🙏🏼
Thank you Ethan!
This is exactly what I’m building now. Nice to see my plans confirmed as viable in your video. Thanks!
This was EXTREMELY helpful, thank you so much! We were literally looking at switchers the same day you released this video. Might be a sign! lol
My ATEM has been a game changer for me. Great summary 👊🏼
Thanks so much for sharing. I don’t use this currently, but I’m looking forward to integrating it into my workflow soon. Thanks again 🙏🏽💯
its such a time saver product... we use it to shoot our videos and it makes editing so much easier
There are, in fact, five models available, two of which have eight inputs and also a headphone out which is very useful. I‘ve been using a Mini Pro for almost a year now, and the Extreme ISO since it‘s been available. Editing for me is basically down to cutting things out which is really fast, in particular when using DaVinci Resolve‘s cut page together with the speed editor. The setup is also great for live streaming.
Great! Yea most people won't need 8 inputs and this video could be an hour long going into all the features and capabilities! Thanks for sharing how you use it!
@@ThinkMediaTV Yup, you are certainly right there. I just wanted to add the hint. Additional inputs may in fact be very useful once you also start connecting one or more computers - for lower thirds, e.g.
@@ThinkMediaTV It's not so much having 8 inputs as it is having more than 4. Dual USB jacks and dual HDMI jacks, as well as the super source feature, make the Extreme and Extreme ISO worth getting over the smaller Mini devices. Super source alone makes for far more compelling videos.
Will the mini ISO record in 4K? All of my YT episodes are in 4K 30.

You just solved the biggest problem I have with making videos. I know what to shoot and how to shoot it , then I’m stuck with video on my phone and action camera. For example, I have the action camera mounted on the steering column and the phone on the dash. Problem is, I don’t know how to put the 2 together. This thing makes it so easy! I gotta get it!
Been thinking of getting something like this for a while! Thanks Omar!!
I'm stoked getting one immediately thanks 💯🙏🤘
The possibility to edit files while you stream is a powerful usecase. This is my solution for all my MS Teams Videoconferences and Trainings. As you put it rightly: you can start to use it just as a switcher and all the way up to using lower thirds graghics, picture in picture, greenscreen effekts. You can even automate it all using the powerful macro features. It comes from a powerful family of bigger blackmagic switchers and has inhereted all the good genes. I am looking forward to upgrade next week to the atem mini extreme iso (which is not so mini any more)
Thank you! Excellent review for someone just getting into it.
I’ve wanted one of these for a while. I’ve always wondered what the differences were between all 3 versions. Thanks, Omar! Great name, btw. 😉

you can subscribe this channel. i have got many different codes from this channel by mail
I use this at work, doing live product demonstrations over MS Teams as a virtual webcam for our x-ray inspection machines. It's a fantastic piece of kit, and very flexible. Use it hooked up to a canon c200, laptop and separate workstation pc, with sennheiser lav mic for audio.
Great bit of kit.
@dpanch_89 great to know this plays well with MS Teams 👍(Thank you!)
This is so cool! It takes me dayyyys to edit. I don't show off products but it would be cool to show different angles while I'm recording to keep things more interesting.
OMG. I need this so bad. I'm using the cam link now thanks to you guys and I love it, but this would bring my stream to another level with multiple camera angles. 👍👍🤟🤟💙 thanks for the explanation of all the different versions of this product💙🤟🤟💙💙

Awesome!
Superb review, thank you. I will purchase this now for delivering online training
I like your video and that's why I regularly watch ur video. ℅ ur video have more informative
Looks very handy and anything that saves time in editing is a plus!
This looks very interesting, great review Omar.
You should really make a course teaching us about editing. This is some golden tips I would buy ✋
Coming soon!

For my home setup, I could probably not see myself using this, since I run most of my stuff through my Streamdeck already, but for my church's streaming setup... this would be game changing.
Editing is the most time consuming part of creating content! Great video 🚀
Omar great timing on this video, because I’m researching video switchers for my setup. More than likely the mini pro version. Oh, what is the name and price of the small monitor seen in the video? Do I need to purchase another monitor to use with my setup? I’m currently using a Mac mini with a 29 inch wide screen. Thanks
The antidote to anxiety is action.
May this be a sign to get up & go do that thing. Press record. Edit that footage. Make that thumbnail. May your worries wash away and all your UA-cam dreams come true 💗 Dr. Liz
So true 👍
Just received the Pro ISO today 🙏🏼 can’t wait to start using it
How is it
Love it. Want to see your video on how to use it too
I could see this being really handy, especially being able to overlay a screen from an iPad in between a camera angle or two
Thank you for finally reviewing this product I have been waiting because I have a question. How do you deal with the hum from the mic inputs?
thank you so much for this video so informative great job.
Great product.. have the pro and the extreme as well. We use it with a Rodecaster pro 2 and upwards of 5 cameras for our podcast and videos. Nice explanation
Definitely useful information . Just about to start trying live-streaming , so once I can get another camera , this would also be fantastic
I am glad I watched this video before making my purchase
I just watched this video again- love the simplicity and clear takes! Thanks again. Do you have one for doing Zoom, Skype, etc. using it (for example to interview podcast guests remotely & also grab video)? Regards!
Sure it's been mentioned (haven't read all the comments... One big thing you don't get with the normal mini ($295)is the ability to stream directly from it. Starting at the Pro level ($495) there's an onboard encoder that is rock solid. Also there are 2 more Minis: Extreme and Extreme ISO (the one I'm looking at buying). The Extreme doubles up everything and adds buttons for even more realtime control. Lastly I would say one of the best values to the ATEM Mini (and all of the ATEMs for that matter) is the browser interface. REALLY Powerful for the price!!
Must get this!
Omar you explained it so clearly. I'm not thinking about live streaming so I'm gonna go pro.
Thanks for the useful video! Can you talk about your Pelikan case setup? I just bought ATEM Mini Pro and I love the idea! Thanks again!
This is the fix I need in life. That is is look pretty good.
Definitely 😎🥂👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯… Thanks 😊 for this super helpful video!
Yes, Yes, Yes, so informative!
Thank you for the detailed video! I’m looking to deploy one of these in my podcast for many of the post-production benefits you mentioned.
I’m wondering how you’re capturing your audio when you use it ? Are you taking a scratch audio from the hdmi source and also recording externally on a good mic & recorder?
Are you also recording video locally in each camera or only using the ATEM?
Thank you 🙏
This would be awesome to try out!
If I was gonna buy it and if money wasn't a problem I would go for the third version ISO bljust so you have some control while editing so you can fix your mistakes
We just got the ATEM Mini for Livestream camera switching. Getting ready to set it up and make my camera switching much nicer.
Hahah awesome! I'll look forward to investing in this when I up my game.
And buy extreme version, it’s more expensive but you can use it with sdd to record video.
The pro / pro ISO both have the ability to use a SSD as mentioned in the video!
That’s amazing! I just don’t see my channel using it often
I plan on getting the mini to increase workflow. I like the idea of switching camera angles. I want to have at minimum 2 angles, but ultimately 3. I also want to start doing more youtube lives. I think this in an excellent product for that
What do you recommend for something like a panel discussion but with the need for 4-5 mics to be plugged in as well? Great video.
Than you for this!
Awesome video! I have an ATEM Mini Pro and a MacBook. How do I record a live feed with the USB out AND control a connection to streaming? Right now my USB out is being used to connect to my computer.
THANK YOU!
Great video awesome thanks
Nice video man, i like the Atem Mini concept very much only the fullHD output instead of 4K stops me from buying it. Or is there another way to switch 4k cams for 4k video's?
I’m a yarn creator so this is a great option to start.
I have Atem mini Pro but I had some difficulties with the USB C output which, when connected to the control software at the same time, sent the videos out of sync making the ATEM unusable.
I solved it by putting a second network on the laptop to control the atem separately. However excellent hardware I have already done several streaming using VMix at the same time
I have the original ATEM Mini. Works great for my current needs.
Good work sir
Great review. I do have a need to address the audio functions. Only 2 mics in? If so, and I need to have 4 mic controlled, do they have a product that gives you that option? Does it have the ability to control onboard camera audio, ie cameras equipped with an external mic, on the fly?
It's got me interested for the post editing stuff...
Always wondered how that happens on videos. Thanks!
I got a Atem Mini and Atomos Ninja and they are a perfect combination to start a multi camera podcast!!
I feel like I just watched something the film industry didn’t want me to know. This is awesome.
Pretty cool, huh?! Keep crushing it!
Great review, please can I connect the USB out on the ATEM mini pro to a large display screen for the audience
awesome mixer. and I looked on Amazon without using your links, and found it for 294? great deal , just had to shop around.
By far the single thing that has sped up both my filming and editing the most was the purchase of a teleprompter.
🔥
hey guys, love all the content. Can you record a video on how to set up your canon camera as a webcam?
With my Canon R5, I just hook up the HDMI from the camera into the ATEM Mini (basic version / $295). Then USB out from the ATEM into my MacBook, and it’s automatically seen as a webcam for Zoom, UA-cam live etc.
As long as the camera has HDMI out … it just works. Super easy.
This product has been on my "I need this eventually" list since I started. Need another quality camera or 2 first to really utilize it 😧. Some day, It will be mine!
YES! ???HOW DOES WORK WITHSTREAM YARD???
They make Atem Mini Extreme, with 8 hdmi outputs.
I use mine for my daily show on this channel. Works great 🤙🏻
I am doing my research to determine which cameras and accessories to buy for a new UA-cam studio. Your content helped! Can you help me differentiate between an ATEM and a device like I see on live streams that have recorded sound effects. Is there an all-in-one that would allow a creator to mix multiple cameras AND play sound effects?
is it possible on atme pro mini iso to write on two separate ssd disks during the show? one for me second for a client?
Looks like a great tool. I’d have fun with it but can’t use it right now.
Hi Omar, great video! Really enjoy the content! Wanted to ask if the cameras need to have clean HDMI? Will the recording info show if you're recording to a hard drive? Thanks
Clean hdmi would be best bet, but you can get by with manual focus and hitting the display button until nothing shows
Do either of the 3 versions allow you to add lower thirds and sound effects "live" during your session (podcast on 1st version) or using the last two for videos?
*_Love your Videos! Helps a lot! Hello from China! 你好_*
Awesome! Thanks so much for the feedback!!
What's the name of the model canon camera (in white on your computer)?
Question! Did you cut the bottom from the SKB hard case for the switcher and the monitor?
Did you do a video on how you setup your pelican case
This is a game changer
Thanks!
Are there any work arounds you know of to record the video while using the Atem mini base model?
So for the basic model.. the 1st one that was mentioned that can be used for livestreams. Is there no way to record it?
Thanks for your beautiful content i watch your every video.
Pls tell that is rode video mic go good?
it's a GREAT mic
That's nice and neat. cam link 4K and a stream deck and you can switch different seans . And just keep on filming
This video is exactly what I was looking for! It’s the ATEM Mini Pro ISO for me.
When filming a video podcast (not live) do you need software to record the footage on a hard drive?
Can you use a laptop as the monitor?
Thanks Jaxx!
1 You don't need software to record footage, just the SSD (the software will allow you to name the folder and such, but you dont "need" it)
2 Yes you can if you plug in the ethernet cable and get the Atem Control Software
Can either of these models be used in conjunction with an elgato stream deck, obs or slobs? If I go for the mid priced one can I still record off of my multiple cameras and do small edits in post?
You mentioned the HDMI out could be connected to an external monitor. If you’re live streaming with Streamyard, would you use the HDMI out to connect to your computer?
Computers don't usually have HDMI inputs. Just HDMI outputs.
I don’t know specifically about Streamyard. However if you connect the Atem Mini (any version) to your computer via the USB-C port. It will show up just like a webcam.
Thanks for the video...Will this address the 29min 59 second restriction on DSLR cameras (Canon 80d)? I read if you have an external HD attached to your DSLR you can continue to record.
Where did you get the carrying case for the Atem mini?
Does it work to overlay graphics? For instance, I would like to do zoom presentations with stats/lower thirds ect transparently overlaid on my talking head feed. Would one of these switchers be able to accommodate that?
