Hope you find this video useful! On a side note, what do we think of the long hair... keep or get rid? 😅
KEEP IT
KEEP IT! I wish I still had hair!
Hi Alex. I am an avid follower of your ATEM videos. How do I get to learn how to automatically start and stop the videos using OBS and ATEM? Thanks
keep....
Keep
You are amazing! I have been recruited to do live-streaming at my church and had no idea how to put together a really aesthetic experience for our online viewers. Watching your videos have helped me so much! We even purchased the Mars 400 S transmitters because of a video I watched of you talking about them! I appreciate what you do for people like me, needing help with these things. Thank you so much!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
You have by far the clearest and best tutorials for the Atems, thank you!
Alex, you made it so easy to understand, and actually make videos that solve the problem in a clear concise fashion....ty
This was fantastic and very informative. I am a one man band and I am trying to get my more autonomous church streaming off the ground. I learned lots by just watching your video. Thank you.
This is fantastic; what a great help this video was for me, just getting started with playing videos via our ATEM mini pro. Just signed up to subscribe for more videos, keep them coming, great job!
This was an awesome class! Thanks. I was struggling and fumbling when playing multiple videos back to back... This helped a lot... I need to learn ALL the things OBS is good for!
Can’t wait to try. Currently using an AJA ki-pro for playback.
Directly answered my questions!!! Thanks a bunch for your content!!!
Well done mate 👍🏻 I’ve just purchased the ATEM Mini (currently waiting for it to arrive). Great tips/tricks thank You for sharing 👌🏻😎
As usual, Epic! Thanks Alex!
Hey Alex, super useful video. Just used this config for a series of live streams over the weekend with a bunch of sponsor VT’s, worked perfectly. Now to the automation! Thanks CP.
Hey Christian, my sound frome. Obs VT source wasn't playing on Zoom. any tips to help out? Thanks!
Great video. Fixed my problem for my TV station.
Great, very good guide on how to work with a minimum budget as a professional.
Thanks for your work and I am a customer.
You are the man! Hope youre doing well! I subscribed about two or three years ago when I got my first atem and 6kpro and binge watched you! About to do it again. I want to use way too much stuff../.
I have a ATem pro iso, a. Mini pro, and Elgato Stream Deck card, and all kinds of stream decks. I want this to be my profession. I may need some personal consulting soon. This/Streaming/recording has always been the last step! Thank you so much! You are a great teacher!
Thanks so much for the very kind words! Glad to hear that the videos have been so useful for you. Feel free to reach out if you need that consulting, and have a great New Year! Alex
Swweeeeettttt!!!! Thanks for doing this man. Awesome Sauce!🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much. Finally someone I can connect with.
Wow thank you! I just started using OBS this week. The audio routing didn't make sense. Your advice to exit OBS after changing the a sources audio to mon/out w changes everything.
This video is encouraging. Now I am considering using another copy of OBS on another computer exclusively for media playback via NDI. I want to see alpha channel over NDI in action.
Keep making helpful videos.
great video I see so may videos using video switchers but no one explains how to use it all in OBS thank you so much for providing this information.....
Excellent, Alex! very useful.
Thanks for this issue Alex.. weve needed a solution like this..
Thanks for this I use OBS and do webcasts but picked up some really good stuff watching your program.
Great job, thank you for your content.
Nicely Done. Huge fan !
Thanks Alex for always being a blessing. I'd love to know the setup on the Ipad for seamless one-button playout.
Would like to see more on ATEM+OBS this was really cool. I'd also be interested to see how you could do action replay.
You can setup recording of the last x seconds and with one button it can start a new scene with that recorded replay. I used when I stream the field hockey match. When scored, I press record and then it keeps the last 10 secs since I pressed. The I pres replay and with a plugin I automatically after 10 sec switch to a different stream that plays out that short piece of video at 50% speed. Viewers love it.... 🙂
@@FrankMulderVideo you need to make a video tutorial with that :D
Thank you! 🙏 Very useful info!
this is very helpful to me thanks
many thanks for the tips and advice
Your videos are super clear and helpful, thank you! I may be in touch for a consult at some point
Thank you for this useful video!!!
Great Stuff Alex, thank you! And yes, I totally agree that a media player on the ATEM is really the only thing it's missing. Why would you choose doing this and stream with the MiniPro vs streaming with OBS?
Best tutorial ever thanks!!!
Great video, thanks!
Hello Alex, thank you for this awesome tutorial. Is there anyway to overlay an RGB+Alpha channel motion graphic over a camera input?
Thank's, it is very useful!
Excellent tutorial, please keep it up. what boom arm you are using in this video?
Great Video Alex! Which App are you using on the iPad?
Wow bro, you are a legend. I just caught a video today and now battering through them all. I am even thinking of paying you to come supervise a live stream I have planned in December lol. I have filmed small boxing events and now we are looking into streaming in order to get them back up and running. I will defo be in touch.
Hey Jamie, glad my videos are proving helpful for you! Sounds cool about the boxing event, and I'd be more than happy to consult / supervise on that with you. I look forward to hearing from you soon :) Alex
Hi Alex …
I truly appreciate your videos as they’re clear and helpful!
I’m an online music teacher, and over the past few years, I’ve had inconsistencies and some difficulties live streaming videos of my students’ seasonal performances.
I’d like to NOW stream directly (via Ethernet) into a platform that’s accessible by ANYONE (ie NOT Facebook LIVE), but without a subscription service, as I’ve used before (with mixed results)
If possible, could you verify if the following livestream “signal path” seems correct:
1. OBS (on a MacBook) accesses video file(s) that reside on the same MacBook
2. Video and Audio (configured as you described) are sent out of OBS, via HDMI to the ATEM mini
3. ATEM mini is connected via Ethernet to a router (ATEM webcam out is disconnected from the desktop Mac I use for interactive classes)
4. Streaming platform of choice then accesses the ATEM mini, ie video files, live cameras, live audio
I suppose that monitoring the livestream broadcast should be from another device (not the same MacBook)
THANKS!
yes ! the button stuff -deserves audience
"Streamdeck" in Software? Please more info on that one! Thank you!
M P he did mention it . He said use streamdeck or iPad . It would be great he does tutorial , but instead he is offering a guide if you email him . For a revenue I am guessing
Alex your videos are great and this is really well explained, I understand it up to the audio stuff...I have to do a presentation where I give a commentary over my video clips, so I need to bring the audio level of the video clips down while I talk over them...how should I arrange my audio inputs to achieve this? Thanks.
very helpful thank you very much
Top. Very interesting and helpful.
just wow. Thank you!
Thanks for this issue Alex
This is BRILLIANT! I was going to create a fake Hyperdeck on the Raspberry Pi using PlayoutBee, which I still might do, but I literally just set this up in OBS with 3 videos and used Companion to control the scenes from my phone and it was completely setup in less than 10 minutes and worked perfectly. SO AWESOME.
If you don't mind me asking, what is Companion?
@@kamenwaticlients It's free software that gives you hooks in to various software and hardware that allows you to control them with programmable buttons. You can then use these buttons on your phone or computer or with physical buttons on a Stream Deck. bitfocus.io/companion/
Hey Erich, so glad to hear this helped! Let me know if you still end up creating that Pi version...would love to know how you get on with it!
@@AlexPettitt hey Alex i am the creator of Playoutbee if you want i can send you a Copy of it to try yourself :)
@@erich93063 Companion is great! I used it to mostly automate a presentation where I also had to be on air (I'm not on air talent lol) and with Iris Countdown Timer added, it helped immensely. But, how does one port the buttons over to a[n] [Android] phone?
Awesome. Thank you!
Thanks for that very usefull
Thanks Alex. Nice work. can you tell us what you use to manipulate and record the screen ?
Thank you very much my man
HI Alex, great video! Love it! This has helped be a bunch, you do great work, greatly appreciate it! Got a question, how can I get my external monitor to split and show my different cameras, sources like I saw 24 seconds into this video. Please let me know. Thanks!
this is really awesome.
Really helpful
@7:00 One tip to save clicks when setting all your sources/VTs to 'Monitor and Output' -
Instead of opening each source separately, uncheck "Active Sources Only" in the lower left corner of Advanced Audio Properties to show all the sources in your scene collection
Sweet.
Thanks for the video, very good! Are there any advantages to using OBS rather than using say keynote or playback Pro ?
Hi there! Thanks for making great CLEAR videos!
I have a question: is there a way to work the opposite way? So OBS would take care of the streaming side and as well of all multimedia sources and sending a clean hdmi feed from the atem without loosing the multiview? The atem has only one hdmi output...hope it make sense!
Awesome video!! Question, do you have two laptops plugged into the ATEM? Or how do you have both OBS and ATEM software on one laptop?
Really cool idea in sending the video out to ATEM Mini.
Question:
Could you use video output splitter to create 2 or more video feeds for the ATEM Mini?
Thank you!!
Thanks Alex - this was really useful. You mentioned that you can set videos to play in OBS. Which command in Bitfocus Companion makes a video play in OBS? In the OBS presets there are presets for scene to programme which will switch to the correct program, but if the scene has a media source then how can you make it start playing. Even if in properties when you have "Restart playback when source becomes active" selected, it does not start playing when you switch to the scene using Companion (PS. I also want to find a command to set fullscreen projector to BDMI to ensure that my ATEM Mini Extreme picks up the video when it plays - but that's another thing).
Great Video. Are you using Companion with OBS Websockets plugin? Cheers
Hi Alex, keep up the great videos....Just noticed your Atem Monitor....Which one is it? Is it connected to the HDMI or the USB-C at the Atem end?
Would love to see a video of the advanced one button press on the switcher to play the scenes as you mentioned. That would be awesome!
I would also!
Hi Alex, thanks a lot for your tutorials. They're a big help for me. I use two cameras, is there a way to add a LUT into Atem Mini? I know I can add a LUT in OBS but if I would add a third input (presentation for example) I would like to use the LUTs on the cameras and not over all inputs (if I add that LUT in OBS) do oyu have a solution for that?
What a great video. I need your help but I am not far enough along yet. I have all the pieces you mention but a studio rebuild over the holidays must come first.
Thanks For The video Alex. Can I add stream alerts and laptop cam with this method?
Great Video. Just wonder how you connected the atem to your Mac. Usb or hdmi?
Wow, I had not realized that use for the OBS. Now that I use Ecamm, I can use OBS to have more sources. Thank you!
Enjoyed the video tutorial. Great job. Though, the iPad app that was the one-button video transition, I'm assuming that's Bluetooth to your laptop and communicating to the OBS? Or is it communicating to the ATEM mini? What is that App?
I have build a Raspberry Pi for the same purpose, playing video files, and for transitions on my ATEM Mini Pro.
I use the OMXPlayer, from a command line.
Playback is controlled via Companion, and a Stream Deck, and will also do the switching inputs automatically 😀
It’s a bit more advanced to setup, but once it is done, you have a very compact, and stable solution.
The same Raspberry Pi is also used as a Streaming Brigde (like the Blacmagic version), so other ATEMs can stream to my device.
Thanks for this great video 👍
This is awesome Thomas! What raspberry pi are you using for it, a 4? And have you ever had any playback / frame rate issues using the Pi?
OMG a tutorial on this would be amazing!
@@AlexPettitt I’m using a Raspberry Pi 4 4 Gb
I have used the install process below
github.com/sosedoff/omxremote
I use Companion, to send the commands to control playback, as well as switching input. I use Stream Deck as well.
If I have a video with graphics and a green background, I can key it out with the ATEM.
1080P playback with 0 dropped frames 😀
You can send me an email for further details if you like thomas@fechtenburg.net
Great video!
Instead of videos for b-roll can I use an NDI camera source?
Keep. Plus very good tutorial.
Some people might prefer doing this with VLC. It can also use a separate fullscreen "projector" /window that you can put on the external monitor output, so into the Atem Mini. In this case, you have to ensure that VLC stops playback at the end of a clip. Which one is better for the purpose, VLC or OBS, depends on your taste. VLC is a bit easier, you can just construct a playlist from all kinds of media (also images). OBS allows for adding text, doing effects, even chroma keys and also has this multiview window that can be operated via touchscreen.... but requires more preparation.
Amazing video. You just saved me $700. No need to get a hyper deck.
Thanks for the video ! The only problem I see and I would like to solve is that every time you add a video source you must go in the advanced audio proprieties to enable monitoring for each individual source. Once I had a session where I had to work with a lot of videos. I received some of them at the very last minute and forgot to enable monitoring. I had to troubleshoot the audio problem during the live stream... I am considering switching to vMix as a media player for that reason.
You are one talented dude. Video stuff here other stuff as Alex french guy cooking.
Don't have one of these but after this video I defiantly want to get one . BTW you got a sub out of me nice explanations and that is cool you do one on one tutorials.
Thank you!
Awesome & Thanks :)
Hello Alex,
I love your contents and am learning a lot. I have a question though. I do drum cover stuff on my channel and planning to do live streaming using atem mini all by myself. What i was thinking was to program all the scene change and camera positions and record them into one macro. I just hit that macro to run all the scene change while I am playing. That way i do not need to touch anything. But the problem is, how do i line up or sync up all these scene change I programed and the audio that I play along with? I was hoping to find some tip from this video but it was not quite what I was looking for. Do you think there is any way?
When will tutorials come out, most videos are only about features... Great review !!..also looking for PDF on the xtreem... any links?
Excellent.-s-- I will reach out when iget mine
Great, we love u!!!
Yet another fantastic video on the ATEM Mini family! Thank you Alex! Question: Is this better than using macros in the Mini software? I must admit, I really struggle with programing macros in the ATEM software.
Hey Chris, the ATEM doesn’t have an internal video player, so this video gives you a way of using OBS to get videos into the ATEM Mini. It’s less to do with Macro’s :) Let me know if you need any more help on this or to do with Macro’s in general. I have another Macro video coming out real soon!
Brilliant cheers
Thanks mate .. nicely...
Thanks for this, am i currently testing this setup on zoom
Hows it working out for you on Zoom. Thats my use case too. I am a one man show, Can I do all this do all this from One PC for example setting up scenes in OBS, outputting to Atem, then bringig it all back into Zoom as a webcam? Or would I run the zoom meeting on one pc and do all the OBS stuff on a 2nd machine? Thanks
thanks for the video
Just wanted you to know that we struggled for many hours with getting our church service audio to come through on live stream until we went through OBS first. The mixer went into the ATEM Mini, then to the laptop, and the audio was baaaddd. The voice audio wasn't as bad, but the organ music was terrible. Our tech guy that set it all up (hired in) was pulling his hair out, since in person everything sounded great. Even tried adjusting the audio in the ATEM, that didn't help. But when we ran the live stream through the OBS first, the sound was fixed! Thanks for your great videos!
can you explain how it is setup up to have audio go through OBS first please.
@@djortiz I didn't personally set it up, our tech guy did, but there's probably UA-cam videos out there on how to do it. I do know that the start and stop of the live-stream is controlled in OBS, and nothing plays in the UA-cam streaming until we start there. Good luck, hope you can find answers, sorry I could not help more!
Hi Alex. Great, informative videos. Thank you. I wonder if you can advise me on something. I recently bought an ATEM Mini Pro and was preparing to live stream an event to UA-cam. The ATEM and computer driving the stream were both connected independently to the Ethernet (as in your previous video). I had two cameras connected, an external drive to record the session and a laptop to play a video as part of the live stream. Everything was fine up until 9 minutes before we were due to go live when the Internet crashed. Disaster! Understandably, the stream crashed. However, later, when the Internet came back on again we could not stream at all, despite a bandwidth of 17+ mbps, the monitor kept displaying < 1 mbps. I have also noticed that the streaming strength displayed on the monitor when streaming to UA-cam is less than half the bandwidth that speed checkers illustrate we're actually getting (with no other devices attached so no additional drain on bandwidth). What am I doing wrong? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
is it automatically play when you switch on ATEM or do u have first play on OBS and then make a cut on ATEM?
Hi Alex; Love your videos, learning lots. Do you know if this camcorder Canon VIXIA HF R800 Camcorder with OBS, will the zoom function work with this camera?
excellent!!
I have used OBS a tiny bit, so I understood most of that. I don’t have an ATEM, so I didn’t get how it fit in, exactly. I could understand the computer running OBS having an HDMI output to the ATEM. What was it/should it be connected to? What else is connected to the ATEM? Would you be operating OBS in addition to the ATEM? And, I gather the iPad topic was separate? I really can’t tell whether you did a good job or not. I did already have you on my subscriber list and will look around your sight.
Thanks for this Video which is really helpful. I did step by step as you showed, still i do not get Audio out, in my case while testing, on my Macbook Speakers. Is it, because the Atem is not yet hooked up or can it be something else? I restarted OBS as you said. Thanks for your help and your work.
Great! Thanks. Just what I was looking for.
Keep the hair and keep producing great videos
Great Stuff Alex, thank you!
how do you do what you do at 12:21 and feedback time from video play from obs on button companion
Top video Alex.
