@@hishamzireeni8932 I’m hoping to have a video on this out soon, but there are a few ways. One it to utilise the Chroma Keyer with something like OBS or GFX software that can output against a green background like H2R Graphics. Others like to use Pre-Rendered graphics with a Hyperdeck Studio to use the Key and Fill outputs from that into the ATEM. In also have a few others ways that I have discovered and am hoping to do a video on this soon. I’m still testing currently :)

On your channel you describe many workaround to use Atem mini xxx for Live Streaming like Twitch (Live Chat Integration, StreamDeck for macros, videos stingers, etc.) Would you recommend Atem mini against OBS+capture card for non-gaming/gaming live Streaming ? Or would it be a frustrating experience ? I mean : 1) with OBS : "everything" is possible but uses PC resources and needs (in my case) 3 HDMI inputs => $500 capture card + Streamdeck 2) with Atem mini extreme : need workarounds to forget OBS, but very reliable, no more Stream Deck with 6 macros keys (ok 6 is quite low)
I read in the updated manual that you can't solo tracks via headphone out on the Mini extreme. Thoughts? I'm worried the headphone out will be quite limited with routing capabilities.

Hi Alex, I have a question. My Extreme just arrived and it's great, got everything up and running quickly. But the options for colour bars seems to have gone. It's no longer assigned to a source button (although there is a button for it on the Select Bus). I used to have this set as my startup state because it's a quick and easy way to see everything is working when you power up. Is there a way to assign the bars to a button?
Hey Higgypop, mine hasn't arrived yet, so I can't be sure, but all software buttons should be configurable within the settings of the ATEM Software Control. Go up to the menu bar with the software open, and click on preferences, then navigate to the button mapping page :) You should be able to make changes in there :)
Thanks. Your video son the ATEM Mini Pro ISO really helped me take the plunge. I'm just amazed at the pace of progress and will be seriously thinking of upgrading to the the EXTREME ISO. BTW I discovered that you can connect two SSDs to the ATEM Mini Pro ISO using a USB-C to USB3.1 Gen 2 hub (e.g. StarTech's UCB-C to 4x USBA 10Gbps hub with 2x Samsung T5 drives - and it will switch from one disk to the other as the first becomes full). I've yet to work out if the same technique can be use with OTG mode to make it possible to use webcam mode at the same time - but there's probably an issue with the computer and switch wanting to use the SSDs at the same time).
What I needed Ordered I got a mini first, and since I already had over eight cameras from doing wedding video started thinking about it and ran that into another ATM mini pro I got. Wanted to set this all up in a band studio for obvious streaming reasons as well as use in the future for weddings etc. this is exactly what I need! And for those of you that don’t know strata pro also recently updated their software app for controlling the black magic Atem I’ve been using it prior and now they’ve got an actual preset for such! This super helps me as the actual black magic units are across the room in the studio and I am playing keyboards singing lead vocals and harmony as well as controlling the lights and running the sound now also live 8 camera video production from iPad! Really do love it I was always doing overkill and did 8 to 10 cameras at all weddings... and was getting into shooting 360 video for the band... This is really going to be fun! Got a green screen for Christmas! Love to be able to afford black magic cameras😬🎤🎹🎸🥁🔊 Thx so much for all your help! Any advice in the future for how one could slowly get into purchasing may be the lower end for using which black magic cameras for live concert and/or wedding video streaming would be much appreciated? mine are a accumulation of many different video cameras as well as regular cameras & 360 and I use final cut!

I bought this he ATEM mini pro iso a few months ago. Love it, still learning it. I agree with you about NDI support. Keep my existing ATEM and upgrade later in the year for ISO. Looking forward to your other videos on production flow!

There is a problem with Select Bus Buttons on ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. I use ATEM Software Control for setting Palettes like Luma. Chroma, Pattern & DVE and use ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Select Bus to apply these effect during live production. But the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO buttons dose not change to Red during ON AIR, If require I will send XML for reference, please advice.
Why when I stream with to UA-cam with the Atem mini pro I get the following message, “Please check the video resolution. The current resolution 1920x1080, which is not optimal. Thanks.
Excellent video- thanks and the new devices look incredible. I can’t help but think that there are lots of people like me that only have 3 or 4 cams/sources, but really could use the dual usb c connections (one for cell phone streaming and the other for ISO SSD files) and dual HDMI outs. I also like the small form factor of the old ATEM MINI PRO ISO. Maybe an updated version ATEM MINI PRO ISO - version 2 with the form factor as the old model + 2 usb and 2 hdmi?
I just bought the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, replacing the ATEM Mini Pro ISO. I cannot get any cameras to show up in OBS. Do I need to download new drivers for the Extreeme?

Nice video, explaining these new video mixers. I have two questions: 1. Are the mic inputs for connecting a stereo source, for example from an audio mixer? 2. Do the HDMI inputs/outputs support 4k video resolution?
Is there a minimum (GPU) or operation System for Windows for the Atem Mini Pro ISO. Can I use a small Celeron Laptop for my Streams? I use the Atem Mini Pro ISO with OBS and I stream to UA-cam. I had a ASUS Rog7 i7 8th Gen, but with all the off site streaming, the Laptop fell and broke... so If I can get a smaller less expensive Laptop for the streaming, that would be great. On Black Magic website I can only find that you need Windows 10 64bit...

Hey Masten, simple answer is not really. You could feed 4 of your inputs into your existing ISO, and then that the HDMI output from that into one of your inputs on the Extreme, that will give you 4 ISO’s, but will mean you have to do switching on the PRO ISO. Honestly, my advise would be to send the extra money and try to sell your existing device if you want the extreme :). hope this helps

I think if so many features are added to just small device and we use them all together like 8 camera inputs recroding in iso plus streaming plus supersource plus macros and a webcam dont u think it will overheat or start loosing frames?

Any idea if the extreme will play nice with a 5k monitor? currently, plugging the atem mini into hdmi on my mac mini immediately downgrades the resolution of my main 5k monitor - even tho it's connected via usb C - i've not been able to find any way around this and it's really frustrating?

Can i choose the output of the USB-C Ports or do they just provide the program out? I need an aux line for speaker monitor and just wondered, if i could output the multiview via one of the USB-C ports to a USB-C Monitor ??
Good question, as far as I know both USB-C's are Program Output only....but once my unit arrives, I'll add this onto my list of things to test and report back :)

So if i would have something like the birddog ptz keyboard (and a birddog camera as well as other cameras linked via ndi), woul i use the atem mini extreme for webstreaming and recording the different cameras? Yes, I believe this to be correct too. As far as I can see, Zoom is still controlled through software only. I can see that it makes sense, as with Zoom you need precision, which you can't quite get with up/down buttons
@@AlexPettitt Many thanks for getting back! Yes, the precision would indeed be difficult to achieve through those buttons, I am sure. But maybe there might be solutions for that in future? From a practical point of view I would find it much more important to find such a 'button solution' for the Zoom instead of the other camera parameters. For me, while shooting, it is more likely that the Zoom of a camera that needs to be changed on the go. And instead of having to go into the software control panel for that it would be really great to do so with physical buttons on the controller. Parameters such as ISO will more likely be worked on before actually shooting, so the buttons don't really make so much of an advantage from a practical perspective, in my opinion..
Hi Alex.. i have a bit problem I use Atem extreme for 2 camera So its gonna full screen of cam 1 Full screen of cam 2 And 2 pip of cam 1 and 2 Problem is when i put the pip and going back to 1 of cam.. i found that the cam 1 have a cam1 in pip. So it make me hard to switch to other camera. I dont know what i did wrong :(
Hi Alex, love your YT content. Question about the Extreme, which I own. The PIP buttons and the Key1 button are both linked to KEY1, so I cannot use them at the same time. How can I change the PIP (DVE) to KEY 2 or KEY 3? I like these buttons and don't want top make macro's for that. Thanx for your quick answer
Hello alex As ur suggestions we have purchased atem mini extreme for our temple. we use bmpcc 6k camera. We set recording at 1080. But when we connect the bmpcc 6k with atem extreme the recording settings of camera will automatically goes to 6k resolution. How can we adjust the camera recording settings aalways to 1080. Waiting for ur reply. You are the best guide for bmd products. Really Appreciate ur work.
NDI addition would be good. NDI seems very expensive but maybe BMD will disrupt that market by selling convertors from HDMI (or SDI) to NDI at similar prices to their mini convertors.
Thanks for this overview about the new features, i ordered the ISO Extreme last week and i'm looking forward to work with it - since i already use the Mini Pro and Mini Pro ISO i don't think there is a benefit of combining those two with the Extreme Model except having more sources which i doubt is necessary ...
I’m not sure if older ISO model (not Extreme) also can swap 1080P files for 4K versions from cameras, or not? I wonder if this also works for cameras other than BM ones?

On the ATEM Mini Extreme, is there a way to configure the multi view (or some other output method) such that the connected HDMI monitor is filled with the PROGRAM with audio levels visible? You can press a button on the ATEM Mini Extreme and tell the multi view port to output the PROGRAM. That's good, but it doesn't have the audio levels on it. When I'm running a show, I need to setup a large monitor with the PROGRAM and the audio levels. Is this feasible?
I wonder about heat with the ISO version. In my use case I'd be pushing three to four channels in for several hours. Maybe up to 6 or 7 hours. Is it open enough that an external fan would be effective? Or needed? Thanks for the break down!
Grant definitely made a point in the stream to say they have done a lot of work with heat and the unit is still silent. Also for reference, use my ATEM Mini Pro ISO with all 4 cams on 24hrs a day, and it's never once overheated. No external fan needed :)
Great presentation Alex! did you know the HDMI cable Brand that Blackmagic (Grant) uses everytime he connects Atems on the desk? im pretty sure are the same cables that uses in BM atem brochures/ads... they look good quality, and he risks connecting live and everytime works!! want those cables!!

There’s loads of options out there to chose from, Twitch, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. I personally think Twitch looks great and latency is around 2-3 seconds
@Alex Pettitt, Do you think BlackMagic will hold the line on the camera control buttons being for BlackMagic cameras only, or do you think they'll open up more buttons to be programmable similar to those 6 macro buttons?
Hey John, because everything is running Blackmagic OS, I think right now while they build the feature out everything will stay BM Cameras only....but in the future, if camera manufactures are able to build in compatibility to their cameras, there is no reason why BM couldn't branch out to send Camera Control data to others... the real question is... would it make good business sense for them to do so. The answer is probably no, as by keeping it BM, it's a huge selling point for people to purchase an ATEM Mini and BM Cameras...because it's the only way you can get that feature :)
@@AlexPettitt , it is my understanding that HDMI can have multiple digital signals. I am not an expert in the subject, but it seems likely the camera control would either be the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Electronics_Control or Ethernet. Other camera makers seem to support LANC or some similar protocol. It would be interesting to see some consumer driven initiative to make arduino bridges to these things and get all things to work with all things. For my purposes, the barrier between me and buying a BM camera is good continuous subject autofocus. Right now, I have a Lumix GH4, which has horrible subject autofocus and it's very distracting to keep playing with the focus in an interview shot. Since I don't yet own a wired LANC remote, the wireless app disables the integrated flip out screen, is buried in a menu, and the app is a bit finicky and laggy, it means the camera is at arms length so I can hand set the zoom. That makes my depth of field super shallow. This is great when you hit it dead on, but also means you're easily out of focus if you move at all. You are correct that the cross-integration between the ATEM and the cameras is appealing, but at this point, if I buy a new camera, I'll probably buy a Sony A7c, just so I can call the autofocus "solved". Rather than spend $2700 on a camera and a matching good lens that mainly gives me subject autofocus, I'd love to just put large monitors up with the preview/program shots and have 3 buttons for autofocus, focus in, focus out. Even if I got a nicer camera, I would want to get a monitor setup like that anyway.
Alex, you are awesome! So I'm assuming, if we were to use this for a conference, that we could use the HDMI outputs to throw different content up on two individually switched projector screens, use the ethernet out to live broadcast, and still record to hard disc using the second USB-C port? That would be sensational.
Excellent video. My question is, how many of this DVE and media players can I use simultaneously? In my Atem mini pro I can use just one of them at a time. So I can’t do a Picture in Picture and have a lower third or have a logo on the corner and changes from one camera to PiP and keep the logo etc. Thanks!
So with SuperSource you can use all 4 DVE's at the same time. These are seperate DVE's from your DVE1 & 2. Technically you can then use DVE 1& 2 at the same time as SuperSource, so you can use a total of 6 simultaneously... But I imagine that might look rather clutters on screen. But I'm definitely going to try it out in my SuperSource video. Hope this helps!
I wanted the two HDMI outs so I can feed one to my LiveU Solo. I feel for situations like this it is better to have my PGM going to HDMI out 2 so I can easily switch from M/V to different camera angles on HDMI out 1 if I want to check something full size on my screen.

I just bought the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, replacing the ATEM Mini Pro ISO. I cannot get any cameras to show up in OBS. Do I need to download new drivers for the Extreeme?
My extreme arrived yesterday. Really impressed although a bit of a learning curve from my mini pro.

Is there a minimum (GPU) or operation System for Windows for the Atem Mini Pro ISO. Can I use a small Celeron Laptop for my Streams? I use the Atem Mini Pro ISO with OBS and I stream to UA-cam. I had a ASUS Rog7 i7 8th Gen, but with all the off site streaming, the Laptop fell and broke... so If I can get a smaller less expensive Laptop for the streaming, that would be great.
On Black Magic website I can only find that you need Windows 10 64bit...
can the usb-c output on a atem mini pro only record 1080p 60fps to an externall ssd or also 4k?

I Got the Extreme Iso. but one of my camera is only capable of 4:3 aspect ratio, while the others are 16:9 .... how do I get the 4:3 aspect ratio to display as a 16:9 and keep the values both in s/source and program? thanks
With all of the extra inputs and media now associated with the ISO Extreme, will you originally-recommend SSDs (540 MB’s) be enough or do I need to upgrade to the San disk Gen 2?

Hey Masten, simple answer is not really. You could feed 4 of your inputs into your existing ISO, and then that the HDMI output from that into one of your inputs on the Extreme, that will give you 4 ISO’s, but will mean you have to do switching on the PRO ISO. Honestly, my advise would be to send the extra money and try to sell your existing device if you want the extreme :). hope this helps

I think if so many features are added to just small device and we use them all together like 8 camera inputs recroding in iso plus streaming plus supersource plus macros and a webcam dont u think it will overheat or start loosing frames?

Any idea if the extreme will play nice with a 5k monitor? currently, plugging the atem mini into hdmi on my mac mini immediately downgrades the resolution of my main 5k monitor - even tho it's connected via usb C - i've not been able to find any way around this and it's really frustrating?

Good question, as far as I know both USB-C's are Program Output only....but once my unit arrives, I'll add this onto my list of things to test and report back :)

Yes, I believe this to be correct too. As far as I can see, Zoom is still controlled through software only. I can see that it makes sense, as with Zoom you need precision, which you can't quite get with up/down buttons
@@AlexPettitt Many thanks for getting back! Yes, the precision would indeed be difficult to achieve through those buttons, I am sure. But maybe there might be solutions for that in future? From a practical point of view I would find it much more important to find such a 'button solution' for the Zoom instead of the other camera parameters. For me, while shooting, it is more likely that the Zoom of a camera that needs to be changed on the go. And instead of having to go into the software control panel for that it would be really great to do so with physical buttons on the controller. Parameters such as ISO will more likely be worked on before actually shooting, so the buttons don't really make so much of an advantage from a practical perspective, in my opinion..

So its gonna full screen of cam 1
Full screen of cam 2
And 2 pip of cam 1 and 2
Problem is when i put the pip and going back to 1 of cam.. i found that the cam 1 have a cam1 in pip.
So it make me hard to switch to other camera.
I dont know what i did wrong :(

Hi Alex, love your YT content. Question about the Extreme, which I own. The PIP buttons and the Key1 button are both linked to KEY1, so I cannot use them at the same time. How can I change the PIP (DVE) to KEY 2 or KEY 3? I like these buttons and don't want top make macro's for that. Thanx for your quick answer

As ur suggestions we have purchased atem mini extreme for our temple. we use bmpcc 6k camera. We set recording at 1080. But when we connect the bmpcc 6k with atem extreme the recording settings of camera will automatically goes to 6k resolution. How can we adjust the camera recording settings aalways to 1080.

NDI addition would be good. NDI seems very expensive but maybe BMD will disrupt that market by selling convertors from HDMI (or SDI) to NDI at similar prices to their mini convertors.

Thanks for this overview about the new features, i ordered the ISO Extreme last week and i'm looking forward to work with it - since i already use the Mini Pro and Mini Pro ISO i don't think there is a benefit of combining those two with the Extreme Model except having more sources which i doubt is necessary ...
I’m not sure if older ISO model (not Extreme) also can swap 1080P files for 4K versions from cameras, or not? I wonder if this also works for cameras other than BM ones?
Hey Rafal, I can confirm that the Mini Pro ISO also has this feature yes. This does only currently work with BMPCC’s.
Thank you for your channel. Great content. On the ATEM Mini Extreme, is there a way to configure the multi view (or some other output method) such that the connected HDMI monitor is filled with the PROGRAM with audio levels visible? You can press a button on the ATEM Mini Extreme and tell the multi view port to output the PROGRAM. That's good, but it doesn't have the audio levels on it. When I'm running a show, I need to setup a large monitor with the PROGRAM and the audio levels. Is this feasible?
I wonder about heat with the ISO version. In my use case I'd be pushing three to four channels in for several hours. Maybe up to 6 or 7 hours. Is it open enough that an external fan would be effective? Or needed? Thanks for the break down!
Grant definitely made a point in the stream to say they have done a lot of work with heat and the unit is still silent. Also for reference, use my ATEM Mini Pro ISO with all 4 cams on 24hrs a day, and it's never once overheated. No external fan needed :)

Great presentation Alex! did you know the HDMI cable Brand that Blackmagic (Grant) uses everytime he connects Atems on the desk? im pretty sure are the same cables that uses in BM atem brochures/ads... they look good quality, and he risks connecting live and everytime works!! want those cables!!

What is a better streaming platform ? UA-cam codec's tend to make the video compressed & laggy for live event. Got a good alternative ?
There’s loads of options out there to chose from, Twitch, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. I personally think Twitch looks great and latency is around 2-3 seconds

Hey John, because everything is running Blackmagic OS, I think right now while they build the feature out everything will stay BM Cameras only....but in the future, if camera manufactures are able to build in compatibility to their cameras, there is no reason why BM couldn't branch out to send Camera Control data to others... the real question is... would it make good business sense for them to do so. The answer is probably no, as by keeping it BM, it's a huge selling point for people to purchase an ATEM Mini and BM Cameras...because it's the only way you can get that feature :)
@@AlexPettitt , it is my understanding that HDMI can have multiple digital signals. I am not an expert in the subject, but it seems likely the camera control would either be the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Electronics_Control or Ethernet. Other camera makers seem to support LANC or some similar protocol. It would be interesting to see some consumer driven initiative to make arduino bridges to these things and get all things to work with all things.
For my purposes, the barrier between me and buying a BM camera is good continuous subject autofocus. Right now, I have a Lumix GH4, which has horrible subject autofocus and it's very distracting to keep playing with the focus in an interview shot. Since I don't yet own a wired LANC remote, the wireless app disables the integrated flip out screen, is buried in a menu, and the app is a bit finicky and laggy, it means the camera is at arms length so I can hand set the zoom. That makes my depth of field super shallow. This is great when you hit it dead on, but also means you're easily out of focus if you move at all.
You are correct that the cross-integration between the ATEM and the cameras is appealing, but at this point, if I buy a new camera, I'll probably buy a Sony A7c, just so I can call the autofocus "solved".
Rather than spend $2700 on a camera and a matching good lens that mainly gives me subject autofocus, I'd love to just put large monitors up with the preview/program shots and have 3 buttons for autofocus, focus in, focus out. Even if I got a nicer camera, I would want to get a monitor setup like that anyway.
Can you change the shape of PIP frame, for example , into a rounded corner frame, or into a Hexagon shape frame if you like?

So I'm assuming, if we were to use this for a conference, that we could use the HDMI outputs to throw different content up on two individually switched projector screens, use the ethernet out to live broadcast, and still record to hard disc using the second USB-C port? Excellent video. My question is, how many of this DVE and media players can I use simultaneously? In my Atem mini pro I can use just one of them at a time. So I can’t do a Picture in Picture and have a lower third or have a logo on the corner and changes from one camera to PiP and keep the logo etc. Thanks!
So with SuperSource you can use all 4 DVE's at the same time. These are seperate DVE's from your DVE1 & 2. Technically you can then use DVE 1& 2 at the same time as SuperSource, so you can use a total of 6 simultaneously... But I imagine that might look rather clutters on screen. But I'm definitely going to try it out in my SuperSource video. Hope this helps!
I wanted the two HDMI outs so I can feed one to my LiveU Solo. I feel for situations like this it is better to have my PGM going to HDMI out 2 so I can easily switch from M/V to different camera angles on HDMI out 1 if I want to check something full size on my screen.
