Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: S3E15 The Creature 1-1-1967

- From the third season, this is an example of how dark Voyage had become. In his quest to make Voyage grim and serious (as opposed to Lost in Space's brand of whimsy), Irwin went a little far and often robbed the show of its humanity. However, the monster was a terrifying one and the episode IS action packed. This feels a bit like a replay of the second season's "Monster fro Outer Space," with a third season slant. No humor at all, just a creepy monster.
This is a UK broadcast from Channel 4 in the mid-90's. The PAL conversion sped up the episode a bit, but I am trying to show different places where Voyage aired and I don't want to put up the clean DVD prints that you can go out and buy anyway.
From New Years Day, 1967 - the year I was born - "The Creature."
This is my all-time favourite episode from series 3, and I remember this ITV broadcast and last screened on Thursday morning in May 1984 at 11:10 am, before Channel 4 on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 pm, and now I`ve got the complete episodes on DVD, and brings me back memories.
Enjoyable show because the characters are fun and entertaining and having the classically trained Richard Basehart in the lead is always worth watching. One of the greatest actors to be on a television show.
Agreed! Love Basehart in Decision Before Dawn!
Every episode is exactly the same! Lots of sparks coming from panels and then seconds later 'damage control report'......dont forget the submarine always gets rocked several times an episode too! Fantastic viewing! Love it!
Eso no importa. Que bobo.
It came to be known as the "The Seaview rock and roll".
Going to watch everything you have in your post thanks Tommy from Belfast
Loved this show when I was a kid and still love it now should be on TV again
These shows may seem cheeky but this was 60 years ago. Rules were a whole lot different, tech , materials , facilities etc.. They did the best they could with what they had. Besides, they lasted longer than any other Sci-Fi.
So give them a little credit for their efforts and long hours.❤
It looks cheesey now but when I was a child you couldn't tear me from the TV when this was on. I had it bad for David and Richard.
Great episode......ahead of its time, which is NOW.(ls)
Agreed! Suspense from start to Finish! Love the atmosphere as well!
Brilliant start to this episode. I love that Nelson & co tried to nuke it with torpedoes unsuccessfully, so what do they do in the end? Electrocute It!! ⚡️💥😄
That moment when Lee is lying on the sick bay bed with the creature wrapped around his face and head... reminds me of a character played by John Hurt in a certain smash-hit Sci Fi movie that came out in 1979.
💘 this Show. Thank you for another wonderful episode!
I would love to fly in the flying Sub, it looks like, if you aren't eaten by a nasty monster.
I like the way Kawoski always gets a smack in the face, can't though remember if he gets a wallop in this one..will keep watching..
Es Kowalski pedazo de brura
Wow 54 years ago today!!!
I love this show but now I’m all grown up and old, it’s hard not to notice the great Basehart, who once worked with Fellini, just dialling it in. In the later episodes he just looked weary. Maybe it was that Irving Allen turned an adult show with Cold War themes into an, albeit great, Sci Fi kids show. A great actor bringing density to the flimsiest of scenes and most banal of dialogue, but I do feel for him. Check him out in Fellini’s LaStrada
Even with the silly plots and cheap monsters, this show is still fun to watch, and having the staged trained Richard Basehart in the lead is always worth watching.
The last couple of years would have been more appropriately called "Sea Monstermania". As far as classic TV goes the first seasons of VTTBOTS were the best. From a science geek, this was a perfect segue to the more developed "Star Trek" from Gene Roddenberry. If Irwin Allen had done it it would have been pure kitsch.
“I’m a scientist not a navigator”
Is it possible for you to post any more episodes? The Mermaid, The Mummy or The Rockman? Missed them earlier. Thanks . 😊😊😊

It's in the description: This is a UK broadcast from Channel 4 in the mid-90's. The PAL conversion sped up the episode a bit, but I am trying to show different places where Voyage aired and I don't want to put up the clean DVD prints that you can go out and buy anyway.
By the time it took to come to Lees’ aid (being unconscious, he should’ve been dead ( drown), just saying, still love me some V2TBOTS.
The Seaview people are unkind. They should not have bothered the habitat of the electrical monster.
