This show blew me away. If you are reading this and have *not* watched Farscape- just do it! It takes a few episodes but some of the best TV I've ever watched is seasons 3-4 of Farscape.
It may sound childish but, whenever this aired, I was glued to it. Tremendous programme.
The peacekeeper wars was the best ending we could’ve asked for. Wish this had a comeback with competent writers. Universe was well imagined. Plus all the alien chicks were pretty hot.
❤️
One word:
Claudia Black
@@jonpayne4931 I'm pretty sure it originally aired in the early to mid 80's but it was released later and is dated as a later release.
One of the most underrated science-fiction programs of all time. And quite arguably one of the best productions to come out of Australia ever. Literally Australia’s answer to Doctor Who in my opinion. And last but not least one of the greatest projects undertaken by the Jim Henson creature shop.
falls into same category as firefly and that one series I cannot remember where it was also a large spaceship that was sentient and a bug that had a main weapon that can destroy lots of stuff at once ? there was a hot female lead that was a science experiment of a cross between a human and a carnivorous alien worm ? and another guy that was a dead assassin ?
@@mathewhoffer4541 i think you are talking about lexx, there was a woman who underwent a sex slave treatment, an incompetent captain, a robot tv head, and an assassin that is brought back from the dead to kill for the guy who killed him he was called the last of the brunen G or something like that.

IMO, Farscape was better than OG Star Trek.
One of the most underrated scifi series ever imo.
Yup
Farscape and Lexx...i hate it when i talk about these two and peoples never heard about them...
These two and X-files will always be in my pc..old or new pc....forever!
There will never be a show of such beauty, depth, and magnitude such as this one. You will laugh, get angry, cry and question things.
to true
I came across this show in February of 2023. My wifi was out for a week, so i scrolled through the local channels and this show was on and i was intrigued.
Looked it up and was happy to see that the whole series was on Tubi for free!
Got My wifi back on a week later and Binged this whole series.
It was beyond amazing to say the least!
Definitely in my top 5 favorite shows all time and BEYOND underrated.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It was never underrated you hipster goof!
Farscape is the best Sci-Fi show that isn't Star Trek. Epic story, amazing character development, high quality practical effects, and innovative sci-fi tech. A true classic. 5 stars.
You forgot to add "in my opinion". While I like Farscape a lot, there are series that "in my opinion" are equally good, if not better. "The Expanse" for example, or "The Orville".
@@vladdracul5072 The Orville"? He He! has so much potential to be funnier than what it is but it's not, so frustrating to watch for that very reason, what a waste.
And also Stargate. 😁
Star Trek sucks compared to star wars
@@sekimoki3024 yeah stargaze was such a kick ass show even the sequels were on point
Loved this series, Ben Browder and Claudia Black were great together, not just in this series but also in Star Gate SG1
What season of Stargate SG1 do they appear in?
I think season 9 and up
Honestly i thought SG1 was to boring until those two showed up and made it funny and entertaining. :)
@TotalyRandomUsername each to there own I loved Jack's sarcasm...
I loved this show. We had watch parties for it. I never understood how it wasn't more popular. Such memorable characters and the aliens looked so real for its time. A true classic. It was definitely the blueprint for Gardians of the Galaxy.
LOL because at that time, it was in direct competition for any Star Trek Series. Ironically over the last 10-15 years hardly promoted, IE :Streaming. almost like buried until here recently. Again, I think the "New" Trek had something to do with that. Again, Competition.
wasn't very popular, but we fortunately got 4 amazing seasons out of it, which is more than can be said of most sci fi shows. And honestly, if I had to choose between either farscape or firefly getting the 4 seasons, I'd choose farscape any day.
One of my favorite shows ever.
Oh my, Claudia Black ❤
Too bad only one of us can have her. You would make a great Best Man for her and I in Las Vegas. LOL
@@andypeterson8013 I’m furious! When do you want me there? Lol
I met a girl who looks and sounds exactly the same. She never heard of the series though lol.
@@JK-Visions did you marry her?
Some really great sci-fi came in the 90s. It was before full fledged CGI, so many shows still used practical effects. Space: Above and Beyond, Lexx, Farscape, Star Trek DS9, and Babylon 5 were all great in their own ways. Of them all, I though Farscape was the most original and unpredictable show out there. The enemies become frenemies become friends who would do anything for each other out of trust and commitment is outstanding. It was sad to see it end, but seeing Ben and Claudia together on Stargate SG1 was freaking awesome!
"Frenemies"? Very good! I must memorize that word! 🙂
This show was too great for the small minds that cancelled it.
'small minds' isn't a strong enough rebuke. I'm not sure there is one that does it justice.
There's something that doesn't gel between imagination/creativity and the narrow-minded/shallow-automata attitude of 'exploit it for money/leverage'. Its worse than religious dogma, oh, wait; it's the same.
Not Star Trek and Stargate standard but okay, it's the 2000's generation Guardians of the Galaxy and Australian space sci fi.
Agreed.
couldn't put it better myself
There's some kinda curse with great Sci fi series - Firefly, Stargate etc, even Futurama got the axe 😢, EDIT: I never understood why Futurama got cancelled, it not only had a huge amount of fans, it had MUCH better writing and storylines than The Simpsons - Yet it Only lasted 8 seasons when the Siimpsons Is on its 650th lol
This show is an excellent example of what's possible with good writers and a dedicated ensemble cast. It's the true definition of the latter.
I watched this religiously when it originally aired. Along with Babylon 5, this is probably one of the greatest examples of sci-fi storytelling ever!
A classic sci fi show. Often overlooked and disregarded bevause if the puppets and weird alien vibe. But, Farscape had some of the best portrayals of crew comradeship, dipictions of PTSD and fleshed out character arcs I'd watched whilst growing up.
Watching it now as an adult i appreciate it so much more. The humour, the terrible, but relatable villains, the artestry and creative work that went into this pulpy masterpiece of fiction
@@thehantavirus It has to. It´s not for kiddies!
Farscspe, some of the best Characters ever!
My favorite series and with the greatest love story in any genre.
little yellow bolts of light. Of everything, some how **that** line stayed with me for 20 years XD
Best sci fi show ever. For those who can't get into this show but are willing to watch (I see you reading these comments), you need to understand that this show's story arc doesn't develop until the end of the first season. The characters by then are well developed and by season 2 and 3, you will be engrossed in some of the purest form of sci fi storytelling there is. There is a story to tell here and it's a good one. You can relate to. People that stick with this show are fans for life. This show is a classic for a reason.
My absolute favorite science fiction show! 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
What makes this show so awesome is the fact that it keeps the familiar human element alive. Humanity is removed from Star Wars and the unfamiliar future of Star Trek is not relatable. In Farscape, the human culture is kept alive by Crichton and it make the show more enjoyable.
I adore this series! The music is over the top awesome! Jim Henson's Creature shop gets some great parts in the series. Done before CGI was fully developed, but no worries, this truely imaginative story will take you to the strangest, most dangerous encounters!
It's basically a reimagination of Buck Rogers.
I loved this show when it 1st aired. Still love it now after all these years.
I count myself very lucky that I own the Farscape universe boxset.
I wish they continued making it with the original cast & crew as I don't think a reboot/remake would have the same charm as this does. A little seen cult classic series that really needs to be viewed by all sci-fi fans.
i have the boxed sets too, as well as the movie, i think

Welllll...there was Firefly too😢
@@morganglen80 Firefly is great too but hardly got off the ground.
@firefly9838 yeah, very sad
Farscape was consistently incredible. It was one of the best sci-fi series ever. The cast, the plots, the visuals - the entire show was just about perfect. There were no "names" in the show. Yet each actor was totally excellent. I ouldn't wait for Fridays to roll around as I knew Farscape would be on that night. Extraordinary science fiction!
Me and my ex-wife LOVED this show, would watch it together.GREAT show and really liked the characters.
I remember hurrying the mow the yard on Friday nights so I could get done just in time to catch each new episode.
That was it; no 'star', just a good story well played by reasonable characters.
@@bikerfirefarter7280 There was another Aussie show that we'd get here weekly in the States, on Sunday afternoons. It was called, "The Lost World" and was also filmed in the late 1990s. More than a few of the actors from "Farscape" had guest role parts on this series. Another show that was consistently excellent.
Ah, well, ackshually ... there were a lot of big names in the show! New ones would pop up each episode on each new planet. But they were only big names in Australia, and unknown overseas.
Each new episode would cast some famous Aussie actor as Random Alien Guy/Girl In Heavy Makeup--and they were eager to do it, because they were used to doing mundane Australian cop shows and hospital dramas, without ever getting the chance to go wild in an American-style sci-fi show. That's why a lot of the one-off minor characters are memorable.
One of the things I love about the show is how well characters were revealed through dialog. Some shows, even after seasons, you really dont know much beyond what you see happen and exposition dumbs regarding relivant backstory. Not the case with Farscape. There is so much personality and little bits about the characters fit into the what the say.
Today on June 11th, 2023, is the first time ever that I'm watching this show. I absolutely love it.
Just when I was missing Startrek and Babylon Five and bored with life on the present planet, along comes Farscape. WOW! Gimme more!
Amazing show. Love how after the final season was cancelled the cast and crew pulled together and made a full length movie to tie up the ending.
The cast and the crew AND the fans! It was a great project they did to get the show done!
Didn't expect to see this in my feed today! Sure is a blast from the past. I was one of two matte painters on this very first season. That sure takes me back, what a whacky show!!
in the US we had the challenge of constant schedule changes for the show and that didn't help at all.... I lived before the internet became the thing that it has.
For those who dont know what a matte painter is, since I had to look this up, a lot of backgrounds in scifi shows like Star Trek TNG and Farscape use matte paintings for their backgrounds of planet surfaces and space stations and such. Even places like Cardassia in startrek DS9 was a matte painting. Its incredible stuff, you wouldn't know it watching the show unless you knew. I really appreciate the type of work u do
Plus there was a lot to paint, just with Moira aline!
I have always loved this show. Loved the living spaceship and Pilot.

i realized that even after all these years, i dont think i ever saw the pilot episode. thanks for the upload!
I am so happy to find this at age 50+, needing some distraction, some inspiration. Everything I see I want to sit down in Unreal Engine and recreate as a VR world!
Once you watch this show (in its entirety) you will base all other scifi shows off of it. It's that good.
First time I laid eyes on this show I was blown away. The best ever. My no. 1 of all-time
IMO one of the best sci fi shows of all time. I have it on DVD (two sets), I have it on Bluray and I have it in video file format on my computer, and I *_stilll_* watched this episode here as soon as I saw it was uploaded.
If you've never seen it and long for something new and exciting, I highly recommend *_Farscape._* It's finding it's footing the first half of season 1, but after that. . _.Wow!_ 🥰
*EDIT:* Sadly, I fear the multitude of referrences _John Crichton_ makes are likely to be lost on those born after _Gen X._
There are subtle little gems of humor, too...
For example, Rigel farts helium.

That Ikea lamp in the final scene made my day. The Future will be pretty much the same as our present.
Back in ,2002 the Scifi channel showed new episodes of Stargate, Lexx and Farscape back to back. Best block of shows ever!
This brings back memories, uh-oh I feel emotions swelling up inside me now, man such nostalgia. To think there was a time when this show was brand new and we watched it for the first time.
To think they brought nearly the entire cast into the SG-1 and Atlantis shows.

OK. But only the beginning of Buck Rogers. ;-)
Fantastic show, I loved every minute of it and still occasionally binge watch the series. Yes, filmed in Australia and a damn good effort it was by everyone involved. I'm an Aussie and I'm proud of the achievement. But I have to admit, it's kind of weird to hear all the Aussie accents (and some Brits). Pilot was my favorite character and there are a few episodes where his character is given
the chance to shine. This show and Firefly, both cancelled too soon were true works of sci-fi art.
If you're talking about Claudia's British accent it's not her real voice. She's pure Aussie.
I absolutely loved this show, makeup, costumes, muppets, sets, all really 🤩🤩 amazing!! Oh yeah, even the story, and relationships!

I watched this first episode when it was originally screened in the UK and was immediately hooked and religiously watched every single subsequent episode.top stuff.
My friend and I first discovered _Farscape_ toward the end of Season 1 and beginning of Season 2, because we had been spending Friday nights hanging out together to watch _The Invisible Man,_ and _Farscape_ came on after _I-Man._ By the beginning of Season 3 (the _Season of Death)_ after _I-Man_ had sadly been cancelled, we had managed to spread the word about how fantastic the show was to the rest of our friend group. Our little gathering expanded into our full group of 6-7 who would come together at my house on Friday evenings for the start of our weekly D&D gaming sessions, which would continue throughout the weekend after pausing to watch _Farscape._

I recall seeing an interview with Ben Browder in which he stated (I paraphrase) "Farscape didn't borrow ideas from other sci-fi shows, it plundered them!" Well, the result was probably one of the weirdest, most imaginative, thought provoking and well written series that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. My only regret was that the writers never got the chance to finish the tale in the way they wanted to, hence the Nebari arc was never completed, although the Peacekeeper Wars mini series was, at least, a love letter to the many, many fans who took Farscape into their hearts.
For an excellent breakdown of Farscape I recommend Rowan J Coleman's video 'Why FARSCAPE is AWESOME' ua-cam.com/video/0S4dbCDHvZQ/v-deo.html

The concept of "ripping off" in science fiction gets blurry the more you look into it. So many popular series borrowed - and sometimes improved - concepts from other works. For example, there are tons of non-Trek series that are about an interplanetary alliance/federation.

It was clear from this very first episode that Crichton was smarter than his crewmates. He didn't have the technical knowhow with regards to their technology but when it came to mathematics and astrophysics, he was way ahead of them. For those of you that don't know, John had a PhD in cosmology and astrophysics.
I did figure that out as S1 went on, but damn, John Crighton liked to play dumb. And they picked the perfect actor for that role.
@@CricketsBay There was an episode in season 2 I think, the one where they find the Zelbinion. The peacekeeper girl needed someone to help her fix the command carrier’s shields, since she didn’t have the scientific background to do it by herself. Nobody on Moya could make heads or tails of what she was saying, nobody but Crichton. He was actually speaking her “language”.
And if I remember correctly, there were several instances in the show where they asked for his expertise to repair Moya’s systems.
And there’s also the wormhole thing. He was on the right track even before those aliens put the info in his head.
So I guess playing dumb was a coping mechanism.
