Power wagon is king…most axle flex by a long shot, lifted suspension, axle lockers, 4.10 axle ratio, great engine and trans. Beautiful interior. But I would take the rare Tradesman with PowerWagon option. Base model truck with every off road feature of the PowerWagon including the winch for less money.
you and the 28 likes say this but very few actually do it
The power wagon was a ground up engineering masterpiece. Other off road trucks seem like after thoughts or outsource built to meet competition.
Problem is that it kills all other capability it should have by being an HD truck. I'd say the ZR2 is a better all around 'HD' and off road truck.
@@samgford A truck and an all-terrain vehicle are opposites from a technical point of view. Therefore, there is only visibility at the exit to one of the faces. The PW is a real all-terrain vehicle, so it only looks like a big truck. The ZR2 is still more of a truck, so it only looks like an all-terrain vehicle. Manufacturers soar people's brains, and they are happy
@@samgfordPeople that purchase a Power Wagon expecting to get the capability of a typical 2500 have unrealistic expectations.
Thanks again for another review of a Ram with the ram boxes ! Great job
My new favorite reviewer! Keep it up sir!
Yes, The power wagon is one of my favorites!!! I like this one with the green which looks awesome in the truck!!! It just needs 35s and this truck would be a beast!!
by far the best truck ive ever owned and i have had trucks since 1987 all kinds in a 2022 PW now till end
I just bought a new 2023 Olive Green Power Wagon. Awesome truck. Was able to get it at almost 15k under the MSRP.
Sold my 24olive green yesterday, not really impressed, driveshaft clunk at 2000 miles and really bad ride / fuel mileage
I bought a 2022PowerWagon used and saved $20,000 of a new 2023.
@@timradke7775 The Power Wagons are not refined. They are a bit dated, but I like the comfort and the ride is not bad for a 2500. The Chevy 2500 ZR2 is a badazz Truck if that is the route your taking. What are you looking at, or should I say what did you trade in for?
Yeah I’ve had a 2020 and a 2022 and they both clunk when slowing down into first gear. Went on the forums and every owner said theirs do it too. I can deal with the mileage but the ride over freeway expansion joints sucks.
The next question is does this come with 15yr or 30yr financing options since it’ll be the same as a mortgage every month.
It can hold a family of 4 , no bathroom
Hilarious 🤦♂️
I have a 2022 PW and burnt the 33s off and went right to 35s. Best looking change you can do on them. One thing I will mention that I dont have and wish I did is a front view camera. I live in the Northeast and there are a lot of tight areas where it would be nice to see exactly how close you are to something.
You can add one. I believe the website is camera source. I added a front cam to my 21. Quality isn't as HD as the rear cam. But it gets the job done. Integrates into the factory screen
Regardless of price that's the only ram truck I would buy! Badass
Glad I bought mine last year. It would cost me almost 12K more to get the same truck this year. It is still the King of Off road capability.
Besides bad MPG one of the best trucks I’ve owned. Have 2023 Olive Green with no decals, beautiful truck.
Man if this thing has like 1000 lbs more in payload, it’d be the best truck ever made. It’s insanely capable but if you want to build it into a dedicated adventure rig for the family, it just doesn’t have the payload.
It does if you upgrade the suspension to the Cummins suspension and your good and you still have the capability of the Power Wagon!!
@@stevenpeterson7234Not exactly.
@@Icutmetal
How not? Carli suspension man. Yes you can.
Power Wagon don't care...just goes where others dare!
Ben's brain glitched @4:53
This could be a killer setup if only they could include Cummins turbo diesel as an option.
Yea and end up with a 600 lb payload . The Rebel is the model you’d want if you need a Cummins off-road, which is crazy to me. My Cummins dpf filter was literally full after a day on a dirt road. It even tried to regen while I was off-road, but because I couldn’t get up past 25 mph it threw a check engine light.
Interesting, if you were gonna do it again would you purchase another Cummins 2500/3500 truck ?
@@beavisbutthead2058 tough question, as diesel’s are literally the perfect truck engine. Great mileage, torque, longevity. The modern dpf/ def systems are trash and completely limit these trucks. If you spend any length of time crawling, going on dirt roads, fields, off road, no. The diesel hates moving that slow (idling) as it doesn’t build heat and creates a lot of soot (plugs the dpf).
But, to give you a no BS answer, yes I probably will. I miss the efficiency of the motor. Just now I know its limitations. ✌🏼
Too heavy and issues up front with the engine placement etc. Too much to list, great thought tho but gas is the way to go for this type of vehicle, I know I know gas milage, yep comes with the territory. I've had both in a 1 ton SRW and prefer the gas motor. But we use our truck as our RV and run a Hallmark Pop Up On her, amazing set up for our needs. Peace
My dream truck but I’ll never be able to afford it 😂
Why is it that when I configure a power wagon with the exact same option on their website, it's about $10,000 cheaper than the MSRP on the window stickers? All of the power wagons on the Ram lots near me are about the same price as this one - $88,000. But, I can configure the exact same truck on their website for $78,000.
I have a 1979 Dodge Power Wagon Hot Wheels toy car!😅😅😅
Am a Ford fan but I love the Ram power wagon, infact I prefer it to the TRX!.
I have a 2018 PW with 100k and I want a new one so bad..... but Ram has probably priced me out. I got mine fully optioned for 65k sticker. They came off it to 49k..........
Whats the colour called on this truck?
Does this have the Level III package?
Front straight axel over IFS *any day!*
I paid 48 and change for my 2016 2500 Laramie. I can put 3500 lb gravel in the bed no problem. I like the power wagon but it has a sub half ton payload. It is a nice toy though.
Pricing has gotten out of hand. I bought my 22 powerwagon in late 21 for 69k after taxes and extended warranty. Base msrp is now more than mine stickered for.
Looks good but the wheel and tires are to small...plus they are so rare, I forgot all about them, that steering wheel looks slightly crooked
Guys, I need help. What's better this power wagon or the F250 Shelby Super Baja? What has the better MPG, more spacious, more reliable, better for off-road, and overall better 🙏🙏🙏
Ram power wagon a real truck 👍
As always they definitely need bigger decals! RAM!
God no 😂
like a $20k increase in price in 3 years. No thanks
Thanks to sweet ol’ bidenomics
I payed 64 for my 2020
@@warchild5885same.
Blame the government for shutting the world down over the flu and then spending trillions of dollars so the economy wouldn't implode.
Thanks Joe Biden
I just wish Ram still offered a manual transmission. Also not a fan of the shifter knob on the gas trucks. Other than that trucks is dope.
No one makes a half ton or 3/4 ton truck with a manual... For nearly a decade now
It's a cool truck but i hate the shifter
I would imagine putting 35’s on the power wagon would look real good but I bet it would cut down the power and gas mileage too
My 17 does better on 35s.
People rank on the Power Wagon for lack of towing and payload capacity. With a 3000 lb trailer you can haul around 5 or 6 thousand pounds. Not much you say? Well, it’s not, unless you need to haul something to a place where angels fear to tread. It will haul that load up the side of a mountain, through a creek, or over a pasture covered in 3’ of snow. Try that with a 30,000 lb towing diesel. If you do, just pray that there is a Power Wagon nearby.
The power wagon is a great looking truck. I like what they've done with it. My only problem is the 6.4 L. It literally makes 15 HP more than the 5.7 Hemi. They could have and should have done better with that engine. It doesn't have to be a 700 HP TRX, but there's really no reason that 6.4 shouldn't be in the 500 HP range. I'd also like to see a manual transmission in there, but I think that's a lost cause at this point.
huh, Wrangler 392 has 470 hp
@@HSstudio.Ytchnnl - Yep, even the SRT version in other vehicles only makes 485 HP. Having said that, even 470 HP would've been better in the Power Wagon than the 410 HP it has now.
It's tuned for torque
Can you put 35’s on the stock PW 17” wheels?
35s will go on the wheels. Whether you'll need to trim the plastic fender well protectors to keep them from rubbing is another story.
Yes. I went with 35'' X 12.5 on stock rims. No rubbing anywhere. Stock is 33X 11.5
Those tires look way undersized for this truck.
That's Ram for you. Big truck...tiny tires.
It allows for better articulation, especially with the sway bar disconnect
Still with factory 33s ... it would be much better with 37s
Even 35s from the factory would do it well
Do 37’s fit on the power wagon?
@@user-up1wy3sy8k certain 37s fit without trimming and almost all 37s fit on the power wagon with minimal trimming. I put toyo AT3 on mine and didn’t have to do a thing. It also depends on the type of rims you buy with offset. Super simple process. Hit up CJC OFFROAD if you have any questions. 🤙🏻
Nice review Ben but imo it’s not worth 70k 👍👍👍
2024 Ram 2500HD Heavy-Duty Power Wagon 6.4L Hemi V8 8-Speed Automatic Crew Cab 4X4!
Do people actually spend $90k for a truck and take it off-road?
I really like the Power Wagons but hate that dial shifter..
Agree. It should have a manual transmission or a column shifter for the auto. Period.
I'm in the market for one of these now... Just can't find a good deal....
Be patient. Their going to drop by the end of the year
GMC Sierra AT4X Doesn't Have FRONT LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS Like The 1500 Version🤷... That Is Why I'm Here😄... The RAM 2500 Comes With A STANDARD BED And FRONT & REAR LOCKING DIFFERENTIALS 😱😎👍...
This Might Be The 1 With The Front Locking Diffs And The Standard Bed...With enough Payload For a Camper... And Enough Hauling Capability For A Fishing Boat Clearly 😄 But Then When I Get A 2 Door JEEP For The Oregon Dunes...It Will Be Good To Pull That Vehicle Trailer With A 4 Wheeler And A Truck Bed Camper For That(4WD Dunes)😎👍
Just think of all the time you’d save if you didn’t capitalize every damn word you typed.
Wow!! 88000
2500 Rebel gets 35s, plus option for a Cummins, but it’s not as OR-capable.
Rebel does have the Cummins option, but no 35s :(. (I own a 2023 Cummins Rebel)
Idu how people can buy any heavy duty truck and not get diesel
88 thousand, you have to be off your rocker
V8 👏🏻 at least
any other truck is just trying to be like the pw
Nice truck but way overpriced for what it is...
👍💖👍👌
Same HP and TQ as when the engine was first introduced come on!!! they added a eight speed tranny but same HP and Tq lame.
1223 lbs payload on a 3/4 ton truck? Forget towing anything that a 1/2 ton can’t.
With a 3yr 60K tranny warranty and the truck cost more than a diesel
Those wheels look so dinky on that thing
Nice truck, but not much power for price. Colorado 2.7 has 430ft lbs of torque. Lol
And?
Hey look…… it’s a non turbo engine……
Must be a mirage
98% of pickup guys are never pulling anything or have anything in the bed.
Damn right about that, but I don’t give a crap. It’s the nicest truck I have ever owned!
@victorperrotta4007 it is a nice truck 👍
Surfboard or bicycle only😂
Wasted 5 minutes I will not get back.
$88k🤣🤣🤣
This big V8 Ram truck has less torque than the iforce max 4cylinder Toyota Tacoma
It remains only to detect how long this beautiful high-powered iforce will fall apart. The simpler, the more reliable. For a light urban car, high-powered modern engines are one thing, another thing is off-road in the wilderness, where nothing should fail!
@@logic_paradox Toyota is the most reliable and dependable brand in the world they know what they are doing while Dodge/Chrysler/Ram is one of the least reliable brand
@@logic_paradox the fact that a V8 has 429 ft lbs of torque compared to 4cylinder Toyota Tacoma 465ft lbs of torque is laughable. The Tacoma is a mid size truck is not build for towing but it can go places that Ram can’t and it can last over a million miles which a Ram will most likely died after 200,000 miles
@@321thach- Who is keeping a truck for a million miles? I have a 2023 Power Wagon and as much as I love it, it will be long past traded in before it hits 100K miles. Most people who can afford vehicles like this don’t keep them for more than 3-5 years, then they move on to something newer. It’s called upgrading.
Only if it had a Cummins available. Otherwise the high output F350 Tremor Super Duty is the best truck on the market
1,222 pound payload! 😅👎👎👎👎
Not for 2024
Over 3k now
It’s ok
GMC and Chevy is better
The power wagon makes no sense. An HD truck with the payload of a 1500 and the same limitations of a long wheelbase. If the trails have any sharp turns or big ditches you will be plowing dirt… 4D + bed are not for off-roading.
Off-road driving is not limited solely to climbing rocks in narrow crevices
@@logic_paradox In what off-road scenario is the power wagon any better than a 1500 Rebel or gladiator etc. It’s like trying to do 2 very different things at once. And many dirt road have deep cut outs that just kill long wheelbases- if the PW was a 2 door it might actually be decent.
@@Lq32332- A Power Wagon is only 6 inches longer than a Rebel and 20” longer than a Gladiator. But by accepting that additional 20” over the Gladiator you are gaining 100 times better ride quality. The enormous reduction in road noise alone is worth any sacrifices you have to make to deal with an addition 1.5’ in length. Add to that the much more comfortable interior and the Gladiator just doesn’t compare. Driving a Wrangler or Gladiator is like driving a piece of farm equipment with air conditioning.
I hate the dial for the shifter I either want a column shifter or a console shifter
Completely agree. I sold my Cummins last January for a 6.4 2500, and after all this time I still hate that shifter. People who say you get used to it, are nuts. There is a personality of driving a truck, and that shifter ruins it. You feel like your in a Nissan Leaf ev
@@JeffBrauss exactly I'm glad Ford at least with their heavy duty trucks still use the column shifter I know with the F-150 I believe you still can get a column shifter which is good and. I'm still having a hard time with the midsize trucks with the Colorado and Canyon where there is no headlight knob or dial and the shifter location in both those trucks I just can't stand either it's like reinventing the headlights in a way where you can't use a knob or button it's built onto the screen. Whoever thought those where good ideas I hope someday they lose their job because if the screen goes you can't turn on your headlights. I like things to be simple you know not complicated simple and easy not over complicated. I'm starting to hate more and more technology including my smartphone lol I'm starting to want to go back to a basic flip phone and I'm 34 years old I can't even stand my generation. I hung around people who are way older then me and I fit in with that crowd lol. I hope prices come down and we get back to how things were back in the day I wish
And put the dipstick back on the truck also.
@@navyvet3660 damn straight
Thing is filthy
No way better than ZR2. The only thing they got going in the mean look, which is great, but that's where it stops. Ram is behind the ball and may not be around much longer...Ford, GM,Chevy waaaayyy ahead of Ram.
way ahead of RAM in customer dissatisfaction surveys
