I don’t think you can remember me, I’m Louis this is my new account. I’ve been a fan of you for a very long time. You always replied to every comment you got. You got me through some pretty rough times with the shanties. Thankyou Sean
Hi Louis. Nice to read you again. I hope you are doing well.
Lyrics:
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, and I’ve robbed both great and small,
And my neck will pay for all when I die, when I die.
And my neck will pay for all when I die.
I have twenty pounds in store, that’s not all, that’s not all,
I have twenty pounds in store, that’s not all,
I have twenty pounds in store and I’ll rob for twenty more
For the rich must help the poor, so must I, so must I,
For the rich must help the poor, so must I.
Oh they took me to Cootehill in a cart, in a cart,
Oh they took me to Cootehill in a cart,
Oh they took me to Cootehill, was there I signed my will,
For the best of friends must part, so must I, so must I,
For the best of friends must part, so must I.
Up the ladder I did grope, that's no joke, that's no joke,
Up the ladder I did grope, that's no joke.
Up the ladder I did grope, and the hangman pulled his rope,
And ne’er a word I spoke, tumbling down, tumbling down,
And ne’er a word I spoke, tumbling down.
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, and I hate you one and all,
You’re a bunch of muckers all, damn your eyes, damn your eyes!
You’re a bunch of muckers all, damn your eyes, damn your eyes!
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep, chimney sweep,
Oh my name it is Sam Hall, Sam Hall.
What a fascinating arrangement. Lovely work, all!
Great musicians, great sound, nice song - the whole package. Well done!
Not my fav version but I still love it
Lovely
Beautiful! Finally Sam Hall 😉🎶🤘
Well apparently I love anything with cello in it and this is no exception! Love the camera moves and editing too.
Same, I love the depth Cello gives.
Beautiful work everyone! This will be in my head all day now!
Based and folk-pilled.
Wow! Great rendition, a totally diffrent feel to it than what I am used to (I mostly heard it with The Dubliners I guess).
I love that! Great work everyone!
Stunning
Fantastic. My fave version of this song that I haven't heard for nearly 50 years - such a treat to find such a lovely rendition of it. A song written and sung by a person who is already dead is hard to beat
Simply amazing
Beautiful!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️
Surprise for sure to hear Sam Hall anew! This song has been a mood sing for me since I heard it in my teens sung a cappella & solo in a coffeehouse on the west coast of the US. Not as sweetly, more of a shout piece. Very effective version here❣️
Beautiful!
YESSSSSSSSS
Just beautiful! Love it!👍
Goosebumps.
Beautiful
Beautiful, sunning work
So beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this with us!
I love this so much, the arrangement and harmonies and everything! Absolutely beautiful.
Very nice❤
This is criminally underated. Outstanding guys!
Beautiful, Seán :)
Beautiful Rendition! One of my favourites
Amazing rendition
This is gorgeous and the violinist is so dreamy!!
Incredible rendition ❤
So much energy! Great work! Great harmonies! Magical atmosphere! Greetings from Northern Greece!
Such a beautiful Arrangement. Amazing work by all of you
Love it! sounds beautiful sean!
Nice!
Did you do (Across the western Ocean)?
Nor sure where that's at but has great acoustics
Reminds me the shanty "Captain Kidd". Is there a corrolation?
Yes. The melody of this song is borrowed from Captain Kidd
@@SeanDagher Thanks! Good to know.
Amazing work. Will this also be on your band camp? I'd love to listen to this more often.
This version is just for the video. We are recording an album this summer with this song on it, and that will be available on Skye Consort’s Bandcamp and Spotify, when the album is released.
@Sean Dagher I can hardly wait. I look forward to hearing more of this.
Lyrics, anyone?
