Performed by Josh Turner (mandolin) and Carson McKee (guitar). Written by Carson Mckee.
Recorded on two Audio Technica AT2050 microphones through an M-Audio interface into ProTools. Video shot on a Canon Rebel T3i.
Josh is an incredible guitarist. But I really appreciate just how consistent Carson is with his picking and rhythm. He's a great accompanying guitarist and a brilliant lead vocalist. Josh is the opposite i.e. a great accompanying vocalist and brilliant lead guitarist. You guys balance and compliment each other so well! Love your content!
you put into words what I have thought about these two for quite a while now
They both can do both
@@raybankes7668 Me too!
Yep
Perfect point
I'm 65. When you're 35, heaven knows how good you will be. Stay humble.Pine.....new fan and new subscriber
PINEPUPPY I’m 72. There’s nothing they can’t play, sing, arrange, produce. They’re wunderkinds. Everything they cover I’ve tried to cover. It’s weird. But they can do it. All. And so fluently and dispassionately.
@@robertlee8042 I'm 78 and I'm with you all the way. Very well stated.
I found where Country has been hiding, since Brooks and Garth went away. Two young be-speceled Youts have come to save us all. Beautiful song, once again I've been drive by goose bumped by two suburbanite white boys-on-fire.
Josh, I've justed discovered your work and I'm so excited. Listening to your music is turning into some kind of therapy. Thank's for sharing what you do!
Couldn't have said it better
Josh Turner I know you live in Brooklyn now but are you from North Carolina or Indiana?
Just watched the Virtual Bluegrass Band--Doin' My Time video...whos shirt was it first? lol
This guy is the king of the comments section
Wow! This is one of those songs that you love the first time you hear it.
When music makes you think about your life... humbling..
I don’t like country music....but these two change my mind every time. So good.
Nurtured by music & history, friendship like this last forever. So blessed.
This is an older guy 58 just got to say that this song is beautiful did bring tears ,,
there we go. a newer country song with meaning behind it again. don't ever let Nashville touch you in the wrong places.
Carson really dressed it up for this one
You and Carson sound so damn good together.
I would like to thank you Josh for igniting the spark in my desire to play and sing more. I can't tell you how refreshing you and Carson are. In this world of homogenized music. I am so impressed as are many of my friends. Be careful if the wolves come to your door. Keep it real. Love you guys and all of the other participants in your music.
Every single video contains two things, outstanding talent and the very best comments on UA-cam. Inspired, touched, impacted, the music is magical. Thank you to all the gifted people who play on these videos
Don't know that I can describe enough how good this song is from writing, lyrics, music, talent etc. Utterly amazing and refreshing.
Carson U wrote this song..it's do beautiful is every manner. Thank U from Australia.💞💞💞💞💞
Ive heraf this one a couple of times now. And i loved it from the first time. And then i realized that its an original!? Man.. This is the best ive heraf in a long time...
STILL gets me! 💜
I would pay more than I did to see some of the greats in concert if possible. I'm in the south east and we have bluegrass festivals all the time, when the shows are over the playing keeps on all night at the camp fires. Everytime I watch it puts me right back there, watching the best unknown string pkayers in the world can be found there. Sad thing is they are right back to work Monday morning. Cool thing is they could care less...
Carson and Josh,
This is a beautiful, well -crafted song performed with incredible soul. Chord changes and melody are great. Your vocals are fantastic and the lyrics are evocative and express a level of emotion and maturity that many musicians never seem to reach. And you're working in so many genres and on so many different instruments. All the more astonishing given your age!
I was telling my wife that back in the 70s, when I was a kid playing music, there was no one in my whole circle of friends and acquaintances who had this level of talent , soul and skill. And that was a period where everyone seemed to be playing and listening to music. Hat's off guys. You are ready for Nashville or pretty much anything you want to do I'd say. Looking forward to seeing you on tour soon.
You have to get this recorded and released.
@@blackdogbite Thank you blackdogbite for articulating my very thoughts.
Hilarious man soap commercial. Over 4 minutes and I watched it all. Plus binge watching Josh.
Ya'll have been doing good stuff for years. Thanks for saving it on you tube.
you guys are amazing How does such an old soul find its way in someone so young. Keep writing. this song is better than anything ive heard in the last 10 years. the only other artist ive ever known that wrote something this poetic at such a tender age was Jackson browne. and this is no doubt as good as anything he ever wrote
patrick jaroch another was Syd Barrett I’d love to see Here I go or even Terrapin by Syd done by Josh
I still love this. Carson puts such emotion into his singing and playing! Love the song!
And again, there are 16 people jealous that you both are so talented and skilled.
I think this song is the one that I always, no matter what, after two years, wish that I had written. What an incredible piece of music. Feels like a warm summer night spent falling in love at the rodeo.
I could listen to it a hundred times in a row.
Encore une merveille de la part de ces deux jeunes et talentueux musiciens et chanteurs
Man sometimes it’s like watching Croce and Muehler in 1973! The guitar work and voices would lend themselves well to I have to Say I Love you in a Song. He wrote it for his wife who was so exasperated at his never coming to bed, staying up all night to write songs! Don’t work so hard you forget your loved ones, ok guys? You don’t know it yet but you are slowly becoming heroes of your generation.
I discovered you from "Sultans of Swing", but this was the song that hooked me. Just an incredible song!
This is unreal. One of the best songs I've heard in a long, long time. I know this is old, but damnit I want to see you guys make it big. If you're ever in Phoenix, I'll buy tickets!
I just can't give these guys a sufficient number of "thumbs up" for ALL of their music. These two, by themselves, are amazing enough...but they have SO MANY talented friends and cohorts that they collaborate with. Musicians. Vocalists. And whoever it was that did all the editing on "The Weight" was just spot on! These folks are just fantastic and I truly hope that they make it all happen for a very long time. I just wish I was half as talented as any one of these people.
What I really, REALLY love is when they crack themselves up at the end of a cut. The one that really sticks in my pee-brain is the two of them doing "Folsom Prison Blues" and just losing it at the end.
Boys?...{and I can get away with callin' y'all that cuz I'm 62}...if y'er out there somewhere listenin' to all this chatter 'bout you...I hope that you know that you have a vast fan base that spans generations. Even us "old fogeys" love y'er music.
Keep on Truckin'....
Love this song, glad I stumbled across it!
Can't help seeing re-incarnation of new young John Lennon & Mac Cartney here ... Wish them a great musical life !
This is my absolute favorite song of theirs. Comforts my soul.
Man, I'm from Brazil and I love your songs... They gave me inspiration for life... thanks for made so many beatifuls songs and covers
Amazing song!! Listened to it I don´t know how many times in a row. So much talent.
Dag. Carson! That was a killer.
That song is ridiculously good. It could be a radio hit. Sounds like something Dierks Bentley would sing. You guys are awesome. Please keep playing great music for us. Thank you.

Just beautiful
intro x2
If I was a fool and you were drunk
We'd be in the backseat making love
But I ain't no fool
No I ain't no fool
If I was 35 and you were 35 too
We might live together on 15th avenue
But baby I ain't grown, though I'm older than you
Hear the sirens moan
And the freight trains blow
I can't love you
Intro
There's nothing wrong with a little fun
Fun ain't worth no heart ache when the deal is done
I'm going down
To where nobody knows your name
And I can't believe how far its gone
One second I had everyones attention
And now everybodys gone and I'm thinking out loud
In a dark and empty room
I got my heart broke by a love note
And I can't love you
We can run away to calvary and spain
We can burn all the records and change our names
And when they say that love don't wait for you
I'd tell them that they're wrong if it's not true
That's what I'd do
If I was a fool
Please correct if I'm wrong.
Thank man :) I think there is a mistake at the end (misskey?)
We can run away to calvary and spain
