steel string acoustic solos are such a hard thing to pull off without sounding naff or unnecessary and indulgent. josh's is so lyrical, so well blended dynamically, so tasteful, and really tells a story. what craftsmen these guys are. such a good song all round

An absolute public crime how this video only has 500k views. This has to be one of the most wonderful and purely good taste solos the world of music has ever seen. It's just so pure. Wtf man
Drove two hours to Milwaukee with my wife to listen to Carson and Josh recently. Many in the crowd drove up from Chicago. Mad skills and wonderful harmonies. They have expertly covered many classics but their original content is out of this world!!! Thanks for the incredible show!
If I closed my eyes and listened to this and then someone told me this was a long-lost Lennon-McCartney tune, I wouldn’t bat an eye. Masterful writing and musicianship. Bravo.
lyrics: Angelina Who told you to hide like you do Who let you down You came running up the stairs caught unawares In your sunday gown Queen of the Bushwick scene Queen of the movie screen Where have I seen ya Angelina Rosey sunrise through the blinds Still drunk on wine a fool such as mine Take a drank dear from the side of your mouth as you smile and offer me life Queen of the divebar scenes Queen of the inbetweens Where have I seen ya Angelina Where have I seen ya Angelina
I've been watching Josh videos the last few months. I've also watched Reina del Cid videos. Always amazed at Josh's repertoire. He can play anything, and his voice is smooth like Paul Simon's. Reina and Toni are amazing, and Reina's originals are fascinating. I didn't realize until recently what a great voice Carson has. It is buttery smooth and comforting to hear. Today, for the first time I heard "Angelina" from the Live in London post. Then I came here to listen to it again as a two year old recording. The talent the two gentlemen have is brimming over. The lyrics are great, the melody is what captured me first, along with the expert guitar work. The song sounds like something from long ago, yet it is so new and fresh. When Paul McCartney wrote "Mull of Kintyre" he did the same thing. Wrote a new song that sounded like it's been around forever and everyone should know it. That's right, I compared you guys to McCartney, and it's not an exaggeration. As I've said elsewhere, you two are impressive, as are Reina and Toni. I know you sometimes tour together. You really need to discard whatever keeps you from joining forces and become the amazing, once in a lifetime quartet you could be. Well, for me it would be twice in a lifetime. Once, was the Beatles, twice would be the four of you. Do it!
beautiful, evocative Everlyian harmonies, with subtle melodic changes that defy classification. Ultimate musicianship without a trace of ego. You and your associates are changing the face of popular music. Hold on to your principles when the music industry types come calling.( as they surely will) Sincere thanks for improving the quality of life for your listeners.
Well said. While I'm listening, _the song is the thing_ ... no ego there, as you say, nothing whatsoever that isn't in service of the song, meaning the lyrics, the rhythm, the melody, the harmony.
Sheeze! You two are refreshing in this world of non-music music. I've been around since 1944 and can tell you that you are among some of the great talents I've seen. Can't help having a small smile as I listen to such good stuff!
This song is a great example of doing more with less. All you need is a simple chord progression, simple strumming pattern, simple lyrical rhythms, and boom, you have something magical.
makes me feel like I should be sitting in some cafe somewhere in Spain drinking a cocktail with a nice breeze. thank you for this sunshine on a gloomy Seattle day. Amazing!!!
I still listen to this song over and over just to listen to Josh pull out that wonderful solo. It just floats lighter than air and dances all around you head and makes your heart smile. Thanks guys!
One of my favorites songs ever, I remember listening to this song the night before my university admission test and in 15 day I'm going to be an engineer, thank you for all this amazing work.
Amazing song. Great cords. But what a solo! So many diverse single notes & unique little triad cords on the off beat. Very cool! Carson's vocals are outstanding. So smooth, outstanding timing & great words. Carson writes great originals.
You could play an entire radio station run of the day and very few would even know you were the same guys playing each song. You have such commitment to the music, I am grateful for your sharing this gift with us all.

Well I now have this on CD, and can listen on my very high end hi-fi, and the solo just sings out to me via the speakers - So much better than it ever could on my lap top - and it still rates as one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard anywhere, and that includes many of the so called greats.
Hell yeah! Don't know if it was your intention, but take a listen at tommy emmanuel's Angelina...it was the first thing that came in my mind. I'm not a crititic to detail it, but it seems to speak the same "strings language" with a pinch of great poetry. So proud of all of you musicians that still supporting MUSIC. Thanks for the great job.
Lilting and delightful, somewhat reminiscent of k.d. lang's "Miss Chatelaine", but far surpassing with Josh's tasteful and creative lead work. Josh -Great tune, been enjoying your music since Dixie was a pup. As a lifelong musician myself, I can really appreciate tunes that come from the heart, and you have that spark!
I really like this! Has a late late 50s Quarrymen feel for ome reason. The lyrics are very professional and organized and storylike like a famous successful song should be! The solo was exceptional, the phrases, rhythm, and some call and response lines and other stuff was great! Very pleasing to my ears. The chords were really mellow and nice and I love the single chord at 0:55. Great voice too.
Soo. I have a little youtube channel where I play acoustic covers of americana and pop songs. I've been listening and watching Carson and Josh for a few years now, and I echo the sentiment of many here: If these guys are the future, It couldn't be brighter. Love this stuff beyond measure. On the other hand I look at what I do and think I might need to rename my channel to something like : -Twice their age, half their talent - How do those guys DO that? - selling my guitars and taking up ping pong Nah - I'll keep doing it. And another visit from me, as I've played this track so often that UA-cam brings it up as recommended every time I go there. After a lot of thought, and review of your other videos, this is probably the best track on the best music channel in my opinion.
To all you folks out there saying this guy's gifted, you're wrong. Joshua Lee Turner isn't gifted, he's clearly put in an astonishing amount of work into his craft, honing his talents, perfecting his tone, and working hard to make every little phrase you hear sound perfectly rounded and complete. Every minute detail in his playing sounds marvelous and I imagine it's taken him hours and hours of rehearsals and practice to reach that level of playing
You are correct about the work ethic needed to do this but still there is an aspect of talent you either have or you don't. Like when I was 13 and realized I was never going to be Hank Aaron or Eric Clapton no matter how much I practiced baseball or guitar.
@@mikegalvin9801 All the guys you just mentioned would spend every living breathing moment they had in their early days honing their craft. Talent does come into it, but talent comes from exposure to the art, hard work, and enthusiasm.
Hey Josh, I'm really loving these songs you guys are doing recently, when will you guys be pressing the record, we need vinyl... CARSON, You Rock Bud! I've listened to this song now about twenty times and it just gets better and better, thanks Josh.

You kids today with your guitars and your UA-cams and your incredible musical skills...

Angelina
Who told you to
hide like you do
Who let you down
You came running
up the stairs
caught unawares
In your sunday gown
Queen of the Bushwick scene
Queen of the movie screen
Where have I seen ya
Angelina
Rosey sunrise
through the blinds
Still drunk on wine
a fool such as mine
Take a drank dear
from the side
of your mouth as you smile
and offer me life
Queen of the divebar scenes
Queen of the inbetweens
Where have I seen ya
Angelina
Where have I seen ya
