- I came outside today to a dead battery on my 2018 5.0 Ford F150 so I headed to Auto Zone and picked up a replacement. Today's video is me changing out the old battery with a new one and not replacement advice nor am I an automotive tech.

Also need to reset the BMS, or let it sit for 8hrs. To reset, key to on engine off, flip high beams five times, then pump the brake three times. Dash battery icon should blink off then on. All done.
I never knew battery jelly was a thing. You learn something new everyday. Also that low angle of the back of the Farilane makes it look really beefy and badass.

Can I ask why. I mean out of 10 years working on cars sometimes I forget because I work fast.
If you don't have a terminal brush, I'd have one on hand. Just good habit to give the terminals and rong connectors a touch-up to rough the surface and get any accumulated dirt/corrosion off those parts as well...

I'm a little confused, in my manual it says after replacing the battery to put your foot on the brake ,start the vehicle, let it warm up drive for 10 miles, but then it also says in some cases the vehicle need sleep mode for 8 hr I have 2018 2.7 ecoboost.
You need to do them both I believe. One is a BMS reset or Battery Monitoring System reset. Letting the truck sleep for 8 hours. The other is an idle relearn process. The one where you put on the parking break and let it warm up. Look up the process if you are still needing help.
Starting with the negative post is best but anyone can actually WELD a wrench to both of their top posts if they're not careful. 😲😧 Or worse, touch a metal brake/ABS line and actually burn a hole in it ...and potentially set the pressurized brake fluid on fire! 😱😩Using an insulated socket wrench is a GREAT idea. (or a wrench that is shorter than the distance between the posts 😉) Harbor Freight has a decent one btw.
Helps to use some temporary zip ties to hold back stiff battery cables away from the battery drop-in-zone. Be careful with all metal hold-down hardware as well. Don't set anything on or near the battery posts that could roll or fall onto both of them. If you're wearing shorts and have some sweaty knees/legs resting on a chrome bumper you can get a nice "tingle" if you grab the positive side first.
(and yeah, I've done all of the above after working on roughly 9 to 10,000 cars over the years)

I actually love the location of the button. Perfect spot to put it in sport and then shift into M and get on it without having to fumble for a button somewhere else when hitting bumps and what not.

Just thinking about it - I would leave the hood open until you test fire the system. The least is that why close it up if it doesn't fire as expected? The worst is that the battery is defective and suffers catastrophic failure; you wouldn't see it until the fire is fully engaged... Just a thought

Do you have any plans on tuning your F150? I just put an Oz Omega X tune on my 2019 and I absolutely love it. Plus, you can run any fuel, from 87-93 octane, as well as E85 or an ethanol blend, all on the one tune. Now, the truck has amazing acceleration, super smooth shifts and is even more fun to drive.

a 2018 that you've had for 5 to 6 years? ... I'm thinking a 2018 that's about 3 to 4 years old... Although my 2021 had a similar issue - probably due to the amount of electronics they are stuffing into these trucks any more
Yea man we have to remember 18’s hit dealers around July-Aug of 2017. I never looked into production but some 18’s can be 5-6 years old. I do know mine had been sitting on the lot for a while though because 19’s were already out.
