You’re supposed to reset the battery management system as well or it can overcharge your new battery. This is very important and why I watched your video to learn
Thanks for posting. Quite helpful. A few things to note, (as mentioned in the comments) after doing this, the next step is the Battery Management System reset AS WELL as letting it sit for 8 hours. Instructions for both are easily avaliable online. I would also add to make sure not to over tighten the nuts.
From the manual: "After battery replacement, or in some cases after charging the battery with an external charger, the battery management system requires eight hours of vehicle sleep time to relearn the battery state of charge. During this time your vehicle must remain fully locked with the ignition switched off. Note: Prior to relearning the battery state of charge, the battery management system may temporarily disable some electrical systems."
Enjoyed your video. My vehicle is 6 years old and the battery just died. Going to the dealer tomorrow for replacement. Don't know how to check if alternator is ok. Not mechanically inclined. You made it look so easy. At least I know now how to replace the battery now. Thanks
you can do it in Forscan pretty easily. I am brand new to forscan and I did it (to my old battery) to get some features back on line (it reset the stop start feature on my 5 year old battery). Now (about 6 months later) it is time to actually change the battery (stop start is increasingly intermittent, sometimes it is weak starting and if I charge it the charger never turns off now) so you cant really fool the system with an older battery. It needs to be reset when you change the battery or the new one will not last as long as I would have doing it correctly, also functions get turned off as the battery ages and they will remain off if you don't reset it.

Thank you! That was going to be my next question. Have you tried this technique to reset BMS? ua-cam.com/video/4-Uaf8lNcNo/v-deo.html
I was just about to bring that up.
About to do this in the parking lot of my local grocery store, ha.
Thanks!! My battery is 5yrs. old. Finally died, in my driveway. Good vid to get me back on the road.
Bro I know this is an old video but you killed it! Great job. easy to follow, and giving the exact MM was a time saver!

To check the alternator turn on the vehicle and dis connect the positive terminal it's a vehicle it turns off then your alternator is bad
Dude thank you so much👍 the video was big help understanding how to do the job.
Is there a video for showing how to replace the battery cover
Perfect, quick and simple video!
How do u reset BMS?
Amazing thanks!
how did you relearn the bms ?

Supposed to put the positive on first omg
Thank you friend!
I thought a spare battery should be plugged into the OBll plug when your changing out a main battery
I doubt many people have spare batteries laying around
Thanks a bunch, this was helpfull!
Yeah, definitely not the “whole procedure”…does not address the BMS at all!
No gloves..and you should always clean and spray protectant on the cables and terminals..
Thank you
I did it the easy way and had jumper cables hooked to my car battery suspended with bungee cords, no system reprogramming needed!
U
Changing the battery is easy but you left out reprogramming the system memory loss from disconnecting it.
