This is genius. Been having little bits of starting trouble over the last few weeks. Today was the worst so I drove straight to O'Reillys for a replacement. The counterman pulled it up on the computer and noted the reset required. Both he and the Manager were concerned about how to do it. I went out to find my owner's manual and decided to Google the question and this video came up. I showed the Counterman and the Manager and they said, 'that sounds like Ford" and so we tried it. WORKED GREAT!!!. I am sure that going to the dealer would've cost $500. This is a good day.
Great video. I replaced 1 battery one time and didn't do all the reset and so far so year 2 years later but I'm going to replace one tomorrow so I will do the reset
I cannot stress enough the importance of an AGM battery. At least in my opinion they are well worth the extra money. They definitely tend to last longer so in the end you should be saving money.
DO NOT replace factory AGM batteries with regular lead acid batteries or vice versa. They have different charge profiles and you will shorten the life of your battery. If you change battery type, you must reprogram the BMS to let it know what kind of battery it is (assuming that it has the option). In my Ford Interceptor this was a setting for this in the Forscan software.
You are exactly right. The F150 came with either a lead acid or AGM depending on what options you had. I believe auto start stop got agm. Important to check what your truck originally came with
Im confused, my 2019 FX4 Lariat came with an AGM 850 CCA, I have a brand new LA 1084 CCA that I want to use. So if it has a BMS, where’s the onboard battery diagnostics screen and the typical volt meter ? Seems it’s only an idiot light to tell you your battery needs replacing ?
@rosieone5670 the BMS doesn’t have an accessible UI screen. It probably had the AGM because you have the auto start stop. I’d worry about using a LA battery because they do have different charging profiles I believe.
How is everything with u with the load acid battery now ? Let us know as I'm go-to replace my battery soon and I was plane to buy an load acid not agm as the price is 3 time more @@rosieone5670
Thanks. I disconnected my battery to try and see if my inverter that stopped working would reset and then had a 12v system low and brake light come on after reconnecting the battery. This reset fixed the problem. Would you have any tips on why the 12v 400w inverter plug stops working after only a few seconds?
wait i switched battery and turned my truck on but the battery icon didn’t show up, do i still have to do that 5 high beam flicker n 3 breaks presses? so far the only thing i noticed that changed is the tire air pressure sensor showing a straight line “ -- “ instead of numbers. can anyone help? thanks
I mean, it helps to do it, but I'm sure there are even more people who don't and are just fine. The "--" on the tire pressures will go away as you drive the truck. Takes a bit to reconnect and measure.

Glad I could help you out! Not too bad to do yourself right?
TFW you find the exact video you're looking for. Perfect.

Exactly. Worth the extra money and better overall performance for the battery.
Just changed my factory battery in my 2015. Lasted 9 years.
Great job! Great to know about the reset!👍
Thanks Mitch!
Awesome video brother. Very informative. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Tim! Have a great weekend!

Man, I never knew. I just replaced mine too.
Yea. They really don’t mention it anywhere.

nice to know, thanks
You bet!
Do you hold the brake down after the third time or do you let off it?
I’ll answer because I just swapped the battery on my ‘22 F-150. Let your foot off after the third application.
Only comment: Disconnect the negative terminal first and then connect it last.

Not accessible via consumer UI. Might be accessible with forscan
Thanks!
No problem!

2013 F150 RAPTOR.
THERE IS NO BATTERY SYMBOL. Instead use the engine symbol on the right.
