In 2016, I bought this for my PC: soundbot SB342-BLK Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adapter with 3Mbps High Data Transfer Rate So, it's BT 4.0. My phone is BT 5.0 (Galaxy S10+). But, my Bluetooth to FM Transmitter I use in my car is BT 4.0. The only BT speaker I occasionally use in my home is BT 4.0. It's older, too. I mean, technically, the one in my car doesn't matter, I connect to that with my S10+ (BT5.0), not my USB dongle on my PC (BT4.0). Nonetheless, I'm a tech guy and I have been wanting to get a new USB dongle for my PC. I already have an Asus PCE-56 model (802.11ac Dual-band Wireless-AC1300 PCI-E Adapter) in my computer and don't really have a need to replace that with some newer WiFi + BT set up. They tend to need an extra internal(onboard) USB 2.0 header to get BT, anyways, and all of mine are in use. One is in use for monitoring my Corsair HX1200i's information (amps/watts/volts/load/efficiency/etc. etc. etc.). BUT, I guess I could find some kind of splitter and upgrade to a WiFi 6E card with BT.. but my router is a DIR‑878 AC1900 MU‑MIMO Wi‑Fi Router. So, to even get those 6G/6GE benefits, I'd have to get a new router. Currently, my router is above and beyond anything I need it to do. I just stream 5x IP cameras on 2.4ghz. Wow... this got long. I WANT to get a USB Bluetooth 5.2 dongle. My phone is 5.0. I don't even know if it's worth it at all to upgrade. Realistically, everything I have does everything I want it to do. If I need to transfer large files, I use USB C 3.2 from my PC to my S10+. The only thing I actually use the BT dongle on my PC for is to connect to my phone via Windows Phone Link and MAYBE use it for phone calls. Even at that, it's all crystal clear. I mean, I know the answer to my question is that it's not worth it to upgrade my BT4.0 dongle. I have nothing to gain. But I WANT to lol. Maybe if I was to have it, I'd at least find some uses for the BT 5.0 devices I do have (which is only my S10+) and it may send me on a journey to find new devices, like some home smart devices, so that I could put the 5.0+ tech to use. TLDR Any good recommendations for a desktop PC for BT 5.2 dongles? I'm an Asus guy, so I'd prefer that brand. I've got one on my Amazon wish list at the moment. When I got my Asus B450-F Gaming II board, the Asus B550 Gaming Wi-Fi/Bluetooth board wasn't out yet. Wish I had that... I don't need it, as this B450 board has great VRMs that handle my 5900x without breaking a sweat.

@@zeafalolk Actually, from the way I understand it, if it connects to the devices on an individual basis, as displayed with BT 5.2, I can't see why it wouldn't accommodate both speakers (even from separate brands), Unless the company that makes the speakers are dicks like M$(microsoft), and specifically ensured that their product will not work with other brands.

I mean, they sell a 1000$ monitor stand.. as well as a 4-600$(forget exact, but over 400) keyboard that only works with their tablets.. But apple is easy to avoid, just don't buy their phones, which is easy cuz they're locked down fisher price phones for old people. Their tablets are ok for price compared to M$, but they'd be better if they worked with mainstream software. But you're wrong about M$ hardware (or you're only considering the PC market). M$ also makes Xbox plus Xbox accessories. I could rant on about the greed of M$ for quite a while (both on the software and hardware end of things), but I'll get to the point. I bought a 400$ headset, which works just fine with playstation, PC, and will even work with Nintendo switch iirc. But because steelseries refused to pay M$ royalties for the headset, the company went out if their way to ensure that it will not work with their console if plugged in via USB (which is the only way to get the mic to work with Xbox, that doesn't majorly cut down the audio quality of the headset.).

I'm not so sure about the backwards compatibility. I've paired quite a few devices with different versions, and quite often if the devices are from a different generation like 4 and 5 they will pair up, but I won't get any sound. I'd recommend try to at least keep the major number the same.

The Bluetoth 4. was a catastrophe for enabling Bluetooth to a PC! It will shut off the audio every time you have a pause between your UA-cam watching. Going to the new clip:"No audio"!

Hi! Bluetooth cannot be upgraded through software, a newer Bluetooth version means the device has a newer hardware module inside it. The only way to upgrade Bluetooth would be to replace this module with a new one, which may or may not be possible depending on your device

Of course it will work but obviously the headphones will be running at 5.0 because that's the highest that your phone can do.

They will work just fine, and the sound quality won't be affected.
