That was truly helpful, quite digestible and cleared the field for me. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise, sir. Hope there will be more 5.2 stuff around soon. The year since you published your contribution seems to have done nothing for bigger market share of mid grade consumer 5.2 or even 5.1. I'd like to hve a BT headset with good sound and minimal lag in BOTH directions at last. I am using that Slipstream crap and I'm quite tired of it... Them Corsair folks feed very well on the lack of alternatives, which 5.2 could finally bring.
Thanks Franco. I just ordered the Sennie CX TW; my first pair of wireless buds ever. The videos I watched rave about the fact that they come with 5.2 but none of them say why it's a big deal. I got curious and stumbled across your tutorial. You have the kind of fluidity about it that can only come with expertise.
If I buy 5.2 headphones but all my sources are 5.0 (like iphone, PC, etc.) can I still take advantage of the ISOC feature of 5.2 or do all my sources need to be 5.2 as well?
I believe it'll be up to the performance of the lowest version of BT that'll be running between the two. However that's only a hypothesis & not a definitive answer.
I still waiting for audio routing options, so I can use 2different brand speakers and designate one L channel and R. I know some brands have links within their own ecosystems but I want my devices settings to be able to also route audio the way I want. Multiple channels and a sub woofer, I can make my own 7.1 surround sound with whatever compatible speakers I have laying around lol. I use iOS for music production and am worried about when Apple axes the usb c and lightning, latency is my enemy, I hope the Bluetooth tech gets fast enough for live music applications. Great video.
@@audio46 Thank you. I'm glad that the content had been much more comprehensive than suggested by the title. With your help, I was able to decide whether 5.0 receivers were good enough for my use. P.S. You might change your title to include version 5.0 :) I almost didn't click on your video because the title was limited to 5.1 and 5.2.
Very interesting! I have one question: if I got that right, with 5.2 one source can connect to many headphones at the same time. Does this also work if the source has 5.2 but one or more connecting headphones only have an older version?
So im a video editor, depending solely on wired connections...but always open to bluetooth if latency issues are fixed. Does the new compression rate of this codec mean that the faster decompression fixes more of that latency issue I experience while editing?
Not many options in 5.2 earbuds at the moment unfortunately. A lot of 5.2 earbuds are just AirPod clones, nothing compact or discrete looking. I really don’t like the AirPod stem look. Hopefully more diverse 5.2 earbud options come out in the future
Awesome explanation and easy to visualise the possibilities , hopefully 5.2 becomes quickly and cheaply introduced quickly so I might get it built into Bluetooth earbuds I'm looking into buying soon.

Another is plugged into my Bose 700 headset, and yes, I am wearing my Phonak hearing aids under the Bose 700. I can hardly wait to get Auracast for my Phonak hearing aids!
Do radiation harmful effects become worse with each version (due to increase of range) or least harmful? Sorry, just wondering as sometimes I've been experiencing headaches with speakers that suppry bluetooth 5.0 like anker soundcore motion plus and Boom.
And somehow you blame bluetooth for that? Perhaps your ears and therefore your brain just can't handle the sound you've been listening to. Are you Chuck from BCS?
I there a dependency in-between devices for 5.2 or the LC3 codec? E.g. if I have a smartphone which has 5.0 and don't have support for LC3 and have a TWS which sports 5.2 and have support for LC3. Do I get improved quality and fidelity?
I enjoy listening to high-resolution digital audio music, namely, 192 or 96/24. I have always used wired headphones. Now all the good headphones seem to be wireless. Is Bluetooth 5.2 capable of handling such high resolution, or does it degrade the source? Thank you very much.
My desktop has Bluetooth 5.0 & my previous phone had 4.1. Streaming between these devices had very very low range & up to 10 seconds or more in delay & not the best audio quality. I recently bought a new phone(not just for the bluetooth, a new phone was really needed) & my primary requirement was for it to be 5.2 just because of the capabailities it brings. Now I can easily walk into my kitchen with a somewhat connection, but no delay at all in the stream despite a poor connection. I'll probably buy a bluetooth 5.2 usb adapter & can only imagine I would have absolutely no problem with my connection from anywhere in my apartment to possibly right out to the garbage bin. I use wireless connection for all kinds of things & especially audio, and just upgrading my phone was already a game changer.
I am considering buying an iPhone 14 since it's the first iphone with bluetooth 5.3 (13 was still on 5.0!). Does anyone have experience with using ISOC with multiple streaming sources and a single pair of headphones?
All these features are for convenience. For sound and audiophiles, there is no comparison to wired. BT still need to compress the files and can't even transmit basic CD quality sound.
You should have mentioned that the benefits of bluetooth 5.2 is only possible if paired with another bluetooth 5.2 device. You're not really getting the full experience if you connect lets say a 5.2 headphones to a 5.1 device. Dunno if they're gonna address that though. 🤷🏻♂️
Agreed! I love WiFi 6 and how efficient it is. I had just upgraded Bluetooth via an ASUS Bluetooth USB adapter. I'm unsure f it is 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2, exactly. But, it connects to every room; in a 1,200 square. Ft home.

I bought a cheap Xiaomi Phone with 5.0 Bluetooth to be able to use Dual Audio. But for Sume reason it was not aviable despite it has Bluetooth 5.0.... Now im pretty sure Dual Audio its only a Samsung Feature...
Thank you very much! Two questions: 1- Can dual audio transmit to two speakers in stereo mode (so that both speaker BT devices work in stereo between each other)? 2- Is the LC3 compression codec a lossless (100% of information retained), or lossy compression? After searching a bit and testing with gear I've recently acquired... I still wonder when the BT org will actually put their efforts into getting a higher bit rate for a better sound! LC3 will succeed in sounding better than SBC (old codec from BT 2.0 or 2.1), since it maxes out at 248Kbps for input files. 3rd party LDAC and aptX’s top codecs all work around 24-bit 44.1kHz, but still use what's known as "BT Classic": same rates since BT 2.1, but pushing the bit-rate beyond the standard SBC or AAC by hijacking other non-audio bits for extra data. BT LE would be good for getting lower bit-rate voice transmission, but it doesn't improve on the Hi-Res Audio side (raising the max bit-rate doesn't seem to be important for the BT org). Those heqadphones I've tried tant "accidently" jumped to LE, but then they sound bad. The "improved" version of BT LE doesn't improve anything in that sense (only better power consumption and simultaneuos streaming to multiple devices). Fraunhofer, the creator of both LC3 and MP3 codecs, also has an 'LC3plus' codec which goes up to 24-bit/192kHz. However, its specs indicate that 24/96 signals would not fit within the practical 1Mbps available even to BT Classic. So LC3plus seems more for streaming music from the web to your device, rather than from your device to your headphones.
*My earphone is under warranty and my earphone model is discontinued.* One side earpiece is sounding low. If it doesn't gets repair I'll get a better model as replacement. So how do I damage my earphone further so that I get a new replacement and warranty doesn't get breached.
too much hype, no real testing to see the numbers around latency, speed transfers, quality around the new format... You can literally encode something into a new format and do a comparison with the original audio to see how much if anything is lost during the compression.

So I checked out the new LG TVs and discovered they are the ONLY TV manufacturer now using the relatively recent BT 5.0 chip and I had no issues with good pairing and low latency with my buds….SAMSUNG on the return docket.
