- A wonderful ride around Preston and Preston Docks in vintage 1962 Leyland Titan PD3/5 Ribble No. 1775 Reg No. RCK 920 on 3rd August 2012.
That's where I used to sit when my Dad was on his route in a Queen Mary around Crawley, early 60's. The Clippy would pass me through the opening behind the doors.
Nice to see and listen to the classic Leyland engine sound. Spent a lot of time mimicking this throaty growl and the sound of gear changes as a kid and while growing up.
Thanks Rhishikesh glad you enjoyed it!
@@classictraction Is this bus powered by British Leyland 0.600 Six Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Diesel Engine?
So did me and my mates on our bikes. 57 now and still do but in my car lol
@@jimmyvlogit1899 Me too !
Ahh, the sounds of my youth. I grew up in the 70s and 80s in India, listening to Ashok Leyland buses and Alco diesel locomotives, this video although set in the UK brings back the happiest memories.
Yes actually all the Ashok Leyland Trucks and Ashok Leyland Buses during 1970s 1980s and 1990s were powered by such an engine originally sourced from Leyland Motors Ltd of United Kingdom 🙏🙏
My word that brings back memories! What an enjoyable ride. Lovely looking vehicle and very nicely driven too. Those Westinghouse gearchanges are so nice to use too. Jealous!!
The 0600 is a beauty. I love it in the Routemaster.
You stole my thunder! 🙂
Beautiful gear changing!
Lovely old bus and great cab footage. Excellent smooth semi auto gearchanges. Although I was never a fan of full front PD’s.
WOW, Having seen the video. I couldn't have imagined that that was taken in UK. Since , When I first saw this kind of bus in 1975 at my residence bus station in Shawkeiwan, Hk, I was so shocked with this bus of the soft seats and quite typical body as a public transport. Anyhow, Titan has been serving me at least ten in my community. I WOULD NOT FORGET IT.
So many memories of my childhood going from st Helens to Southport on these. We'd go to Liverpool then walk to the old bus station for the bus to Southport. PD3's all the way usually. Sometimes PD3 to Liverpool then Bristol or Leyland coach, X27, to Southport. Just loved the PD3
Yea great memories . Can't remember maybe X3 used to go from the "old bus station," in Skelhorne Street, all the way to Skipton in Yorkshire. These buses were ace.
brilliant pd3 just like the southdown pd3 except that theirs was a stick change.lovely Leyland sound that's what it is all about
Good to see and hear first gear being used!
I am in the states, someone 2 hours away from me has one of these from 1952 rotting in the woods and for sale. Would LOVE to restore the old beast and hit the road!
I thought they were wonderful buses to travel on. I got to know the bus driver & his conductor on some routes & was allowed to change the destination board I really enjoyed that ( when i was much younger). But, sadly i don't or have not heard of any that has been saved for either tge Wirral heritage transport museum or any vehicle preservation within Merseyside or especially Liverpool itself. I do hope a few can get to be seen back in Liverpool were they once was vastly used from two major depot's 1 in Bootle & the other was at AINTREE / OLD ROAD & i find it sad😥 when i hear of vehicles of yesteryear not in use or WORSE NEVER seen ever again.
經典引擎聲,超正!
In 1980 s hong kong ‘s china motor bus too have the bus service..
In what month in 1962 this vehicle entered service?
Sounds very lorry like.
How do the mechanics get access to the engine under that internal bonnet? From the inside?
Probably a doghouse at the left of the driver's feet
Is this bus powered by BritishLeyland 0.600 Six Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Diesel Engine?
Yes.
Some bus was export to HK in 1960's
Many china motor bus‘s driver staff, too not love the bus...
Give me an AEC any day 😉
This bus is powered by which series of Leyland Engine?
From memory it was the 0.600
@@danielrussell446 Thanks very much for your reply
Wow! Those Leyland Buses were noisy and odd, ....I hope they are improved now. Driving this thing in the city straight shift horrible
The Leyland buses were some of the finest made in the uk and now sadly none are made anymore
They were noisy in the cab, and heavy on steering. But they were darn good buses. Would I drive one on a shift today, given the chance? You bet I would!
@@johng.lidstone2236 I really love the roaring sound of British Leyland Engine. In our country India During 1990s I travelled by an Ashok Leyland Bus of Viking model powered by AL 6.65 Six Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Diesel Engine which is the Licensed version of British Leyland 0.400 Six Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Diesel Engine ,while I sat in the bus inside the cabin I got to hear the distinct roaring sound of British Leyland Engine and I really enjoyed very much.Really the sound of British Leyland Engine is totally something else🙏🙏
