    Lovely sounding machine. Well built, simple technology. Last a lot longer than what's built today. Remember going to school in these with Allan's of Gorebridge but they had Vanhool bodies.

      That's probably why the ones with Tappins Coaches I've seen on the streets of Oxfordshire from what 1998/1999 - 2013/2014.
      The newest coach they had was a 53-plate Plaxton Profile-bodied B7R.
      The oldest coach (Volvo B10M) I remember they had was a white Plaxton Supreme, 1980's X-reg.
      Beautiful coach.
      I have to be careful how I ask is but why do I sense Plaxton coaches of pretty much this era are proper coaches?

    This video really takes me back to my earliest school days when my local school bus was a plaxton Supreme bodied Volvo B58. Everything from the engine fan, air clutch to the mighty roar of that lovely 6 cylinder engine was bliss and was a change of pace compared to the number of old Bedfords & Leyland Leopards still being used at the time. It was this coach that made be become a big fan of the good old b10/58's, sadly the same coach was scrapped long ago, I am glad that someone has put the time and effort to preserving an running on of these fine machines.
    Thank you for uploading a video of your fine machine BLOWN8CYLINDER :)

    We had a 1983 one of these at the coach firm I work for and it was a great old coach to drive. Unfortunately it failed its MOT a couple of years ago for some niggly reason and the new boss who had no time for such things had it towed off the Bromyard scrapyard. Funnily enough ours was known as "The Old Girl" too! lol

      +BLOWN8CYLINDER A coach company i used to work for has JIL7899 (A147BTW) Jonckheere Jubilee P90 Volvo B10M. When i first started it was shot. The frame rotted the gearbox had it the lot but after 3 years of hard work she is back on the road and is like new. Sounds very similar to this. Has a 6 speed ZF manual in it.

    This was always going to pass it's MOT. These things were built to last a lifetime. Sadly with the low emission zones being brought out these beauties are becoming more and more rare.

    I think this was ex 'Glenton Tours' of London, traditionally had AEC's (until no longer available) with specially adapted Plaxton coachwork. Was nice to it in it's later life at Wistow - sounding fit! Does anyone know what happened to the company....seemed to suddenly close down.

    • @BLOWN8CYLINDER
      @BLOWN8CYLINDER  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it is indeed ex Glenton Tours.... I believe it was 2011 when Wistonian coaches purchased both C193 and C194CYO . Both had led seperate lives, C193 seeing school work and had clocked up 665000 KM's while C194 had been pampered , being used on Scottish island tours and only showing 60000 KM's , and it did indeed drive like a low mileage coach.... C193 had been subjected to a hard life and some repairs were needed, this included me fabricating a new floor, re-instating the glass panel below the rear window and also an engine freshen up including new pistons and liners, big end bearings and overhauled the heads..... It was then sent out to have new stretch panels fitted and resprayed in what was meant to be Glentons colours.... I left Wistonian in 2015 and C193 CYO recently got a new owner.

      @@BLOWN8CYLINDER Thanks for the info - you did a great job on C193 - as you say, it led a very different life to C194!....I knew Glenton had smaller vehicles for it's Scottish Islands tours.....I've a brochure and itinerary of theirs probably dating from pre-war times. It was good that Wistonian kept them in (almost) Glenton Tours livery. Strange the name is in use nowadays on a Scottish company - although nothing to do with the original. I saw a Pullman vehicle outside the Wistow shed and wondered if they're using it? Do you still do bus work?

    Through and through she sounds exactly like my old 1995 Jonckheere Deuville which was a Volvo B10M-62 with the same older version of the 9.6 litre Volvo straight six engine. Transmission sounds different, mine was a lot noisier then this. It moaned in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, then howled in 4th, 5th, and 6th.

    • @Dutch3DMaster
      @Dutch3DMaster 3 роки тому +2

      Sounds like a ZF transmission to me, the one in this video sounds more like an Allison, but I could be wrong. We had a couple of Dennis Wright's during the time we had Arriva in my city as a bus transportation company that sounded a lot like this (transmission wise, that is, they had Allison's in them).
      The buses we had before Arriva (Volvo B10m with either a DAF/Hainje/Berkhof chassis or body, we had lot's of variations in them here) had the same moaning and howling as well (and when they wanted to get out of a red traffic light they could really moan and then growl like nothing else, and the whole floor vibrated as a result. Awesome buses.

    Nice engine sound. I remember the first busses of 3.80m height since 1990 in Chile, there was Volvo B-10M or B12 EGS, with manual gearbox and Marcopolo or Busscar bodywork... good remember, and nice landscape. Greetings from Chile. I put an image of a Marcopolo Paradiso GV1450 - Volvo B-10M: www.atodobuschile.cl/galeria/details.php?image_id=3129&mode=search (actually these busses don't exists)
