Escape Trailer 17B vs 19 - Our Perspective

- We decided to purchase the Escape Trailer 21C from Escape Trailer Industries back in October of 2018 and moved into it full time in March 2019. We love our Escape 21, but what do we think about the Escape Trailer 17B and 19? When we were shopping we looked at both as we really wanted to go as small as possible. Ultimately, the 17 was just too small for our full time life-style so it was ruled out and the 19 was as well for space reasons. In this video, we'll discuss how these two models differ and why you might want to choose one or the other for your RV needs.
In our next and final video in this short series we compare a 19 vs 21NE since the layouts are very similar, what differences did we see? These are strictly our opinions and we're sharing our perspective in hopes that it will help you decide if you are considering an Escape Trailer and are not sure which model is best for you!
We want to thank Escape Trailer Industries for allowing us to have a full day in the showroom.

We have the 19 for two adults and two small dogs and we think it's just perfect. We upsized after 4 years with a 17' Casita and the Escape is SO much better for us! A queen size bed makes the climb-over easy to do, more kitchen counter space, the wider aisle for passing each other, and a nice size dinette (we have the U-shaped). It also has a lot of storage space. I could see the 17' for a single traveler and you could sleep on the small dinette and have the larger one to hang out in. But for two people and if you head out very long -- I'd go for 19 feet. (We were about a month in to our Alaska trip with our 17' Casita when we decided that a bit more room, not a lot, would be great - and we called Escape while on the road to set up a tour of a 19. We were immediately impressed and remain so!) Love your comparison videos - great job on pointing out the differences that could matter to someone.
Hey Valerie! Thanks as always for watching and for the comment! Both of these are perfect for the right person or persons!
You can buy toilet bags for any full time toilet and wood chips and turn and toilet into a compost
Great idea, thanks!
Really super video and coverage of the details of these trailers. Just gotta say that even with a few problems with my 21-foot Escape trailer, that it was/is so well built! After watching other videos about other builders and all the problems they have, and after knowing several friends who bought other "maintstream" brand trailers and experienced LOTS of problems, the Escape trailers are possibly the best built out there. My main thing is having the dinette at the back of the trailer so I can back the trailer up to the lake or the river or the mountains or the valley and have a gorgeous view from the dinette/seating area. Not even an Oliver can do that! :-) Thanks gals.
Hey Ann, couldn't agree with you more about the quality! I know you've had a few issues but some of my full time friends with other trailers have had really bad problems :(. That's our favorite part too....being able to look out the back!
Great Video! Thanks.
Re concerns re lithium battery outside cabin, you can move the battery under your dinette seats once you take possession. The issue has to do legal constraints on Escape regarding placement of batteries inside cabin.
Otherwise great video.
I would request you publish a comparison of the Escape 19 vs the 21C and/or Escape 21NE. I’ve seen many comments stating a preference for the 19’s floor plan over the 21C.
Thanks for watching and for the comment!! Hopefully by now since I've been so slow and replying to comments you've seen our other comparison videos!
Love your videos but I can ’t wait for the E23.
Thanks Gary! Can't wait for the 23 too!!
That was a nice touch in introducing the E 19.
Thanks!
Now that Casita has raised their prices into the low $30s the 17B is a more realistic choice for me. I like the Escape's build quality and the lithium battery option. If I go full-time, though, I'd get the 19.
I think of the 17 as a BIG trailer. I'm hoping they get around to making a 14'-15'. You can get smaller fibreglass egg trailers that are quite adequate even for couples.
Thanks for watching! It's all relative!
Thanks for the video. Just a comment... my 17B has the 3-burner cook top. Not sure why this isn't available now. It's not super necessary but a nice addition for the odd meal. In addition, I'm 5-11 and I don't hit my head on the shower ceiling.
Thanks so much for watching Peter! That's good to know that you don't hit your head in the 17!
Great video gals!! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!!
Maybe things have changed but I have the foot flush toilet. Enjoyed the video & hope to have a future 19.
I hope you have a future 19 too!
@@AdventuresInNoMadness Guess what! I pick up a used one next week! Yay.
@@juliemarcum6687 OMG that’s amazing!!!!!! Congratulations!!!
Great comparison
Thanks Pamela!
I think the 17B starts around 2600 lbs or so now? So the 2200 lb must be the 17A. Anyway, great comparison! Escape SHOULD put you on the payroll! haha
Hi Sean, yes that's about the right starting weight depending on the options that are added.
Thank you for all your videos! I might shoot for E19. I believe you use the Fastway e2 hitch, so what’s your experience on it, had any sway from the hitch? Enjoy your escape!
Hi HY and thanks for watching! We do use the Fastway e2 and have been very happy with it!!
1:07 Why? You're forgetting to tell us what your towing capacity is. That should make the choice for you.
I agree but many people. will buy a new vehicle if the trailer they want is too big to tow
Cot option? Is that a thing on all models?
It's only an option on a couple of models
