Escape Trailer 21C vs 21NE - Our Choice
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2021
- We decided to purchase the Escape Trailer 21C from Escape Trailer Industries back in October of 2018 and moved into it full time in March 2019. We love our Escape 21, but would we pick this same Escape Trailer if we had it to do over again in 2021? Well, the Escape Trailer 21NE didn't exist in 2018 so in this video we return to Escape Trailer Industries in Chilliwack Canada to compare the differences in these two models and answer the question: "Would we choose a 21NE over the 21C if we made the choice again?"
In upcoming videos, we'll compare some of the other models; 5.0 vs 21C, 19 vs 21NE, as well as 17 vs 19. These are strictly our opinions and we're sharing our perspective in hopes that it will help you decide if you are considering an Escape Trailer and are not sure which model is best for you!
We want to thank Escape Trailer Industries for allowing us to have a full day in the showroom.

Having a back window is very important to us!
We're very happy with our 21C, as well. I'm not going to be climbing over Laurie to get out of bed 😂 Thanks for the comparison/tour!
Thanks Sally!
When I was looking at Escapes in 2016 I looked at the 21C and absolutely hated the bed being right by the door when you came in. Being solo I talked myself into a smaller trailer I didn’t need all that space 🤦♀️I was lucky enough to be able to view the mock up trailer for the NE21 when they where doing the design back in 2019 ? 🤔. Being solo the HUGE table was something that didn’t interest me, the kitchen counter and storage was really no bigger then my 19 foot. So after going back and forth since 2017 I now have a 21C on order pickup 01/11/2022 I’m just so excited and I will come to peace with the bed being by the door. So looking forward to seeing and finally meeting you two at the Fort Casey rally in April 2022.
LOL Dianne that's kind of funny! Glad you're almost getting your 21! Really looking forward t finally meeting you too! We were in Snohomish but only for two short days this week. Would have been there longer but our truck needs to get looked at and the only appointment we could find in the near future was in Vancouver. Bickford Ford was 6 weeks out!!
Great video. I would go with the 21NE but with a slightly improved floorplan. A comfortable jacknife sofa with a lagun table instead of the dinette. We have a couples trailer and I love the jacknife. Makes getting dressed so much easier.
Thanks for watching Belle!
The Excape trailer company make excellent trailer and It is a lovely trailer was planning to buy one 21C, When I was going to order they state will have a wait time of July 2023 is the earliest completion date for E17A, E17B, E19, E21NE, & E21C
February 2024 is the earliest completion date for E5.0. Who in there right mind would wait for over two/three years for a trailer sorry to say. It is time for them to expand there production.
It's frustrating to have to wait but I know it's worth it!!
you wouldn't have had to wait that long lmao
I've always kept up with their website and lead times, and even through the height of the pandemic it was never 3 years
We like the 21C as well over the other. And we haven't bought a trailer yet.
Great comparison! Thank you SO MUCH!
My wife and I are getting ready to put a deposit on an Escape. Problem is we are in Nova Scotia and there are NO Ambassadors here. We briefly saw a 21C a few years ago for ten minute tour . Yet we have never seen a 21 NE. I had come to the same conclusions as you Black tank, inside batteries and bigger kitchen/storage. It is great to have the comparison. Thanks!
Thanks for watching and glad it helped!
@@AdventuresInNoMadness I would love to see a video on what you do about wheel bearing and tire maintenance. This has been a huge issue in many RV facebook groups I have been in associated with other travel trailers. Thanks!
Thank you for doing this. Makes me love my 21C even more! ❤️
LOL, thanks! We love ours more too!!
Still a very helpful video a year later! I’m in love with the 21C and this confirms it!
Excellent comparison! As you say, it comes down to camping style. For us, moving from a 19 to the 5.0 was the right choice. (The 21NE had not come out yet, but I think we would have still made the same decision.) Bravo!!
Thanks Arnie! I really love the 5th wheel but can't lose the truck bed storage!
You've probably answered this in other vids, but I see you spend quite a lot of time in "Colder" conditions. My understanding is the 21C is not a "4 season" camper. How do you accomplish this? Did you get the foam underside insulation spray? Looks like fun, we're thinking of buying one. Thanks very much for your response.
Excellent review and comparison. Really appreciate that. You are so good. Ok my thoughts after owning an Escape Trailer Industries 21C for four years ... the 21NE was a good try, but a bad plan. Here's why ... the much smaller toilet/black tank size in a 21NE would be a deal breaker ... having the batteries outside would be a deal breaker (not just for temperature but for theft risk, the cost of copper wiring just itself is a theft risk, all of these systems should be inside, not outside ... as well the weight of batteries in the front storage locker is outrageous, again a really bad idea, and there is no battery box up front in the 21NE, they are simply covered with a really puny, thin slice of plywood which is dangerous at best, as other things in that storage box rock and roll and can seriously compromise the batteries and risk a fire). As well, in the 21NE having a tiny kitchen counter with a miniscule kitchen sink is a huge deal breaker ... also having so much less storage space than in a 21C is a really big deal breaker ... but the biggest "no go" is that the dinette in a 21NE, where we all live most of the time, in a 21NE the dinette is at the front of the trailer, so we would get to sit there and look out the front window at the back of our truck! What?! In a 21Classic, the dinette is at the back of the trailer, exactly where we sit when the trailer is backed up to a lake or a river or the ocean or the mountains or a meadow with horses, or even just a nice woodland view. As well, another huge no-go is the bed in the 21NE where, if there are two people, one would have to climb over the other ... whereas in the 21Classic, each person can exit at the foot of the bed ... no broken ribs needed. Not so sure what the new Escape Trailer Industries corporate owners were thinking when they designed the 21NE. Thank you Rhonda and Angie ... you're the best.
Thanks as always for watching Ann! The NE seems so spacious with the dinette in the front but we're in the 21C camp for sure!! I agree with everything you said above!
I like your input, 21C is it! Thanks Ladies
Thanks for watching!
NE looks good for weekend family trips in moderate weather staying in parks with shore power. The 21C seems better for boondocking and living out of the trailer.
Hi Isaac, exactly what we think too!!!
Brilliant comparison! Still loving my Class C.....see you soon!
Thanks Shaun! Can't wait to see you soon!!!
We choose the 21C for a lot of the same reasons. Our completion date is just over a month away. Wish we could had been able to get the new Dometic Stovetop.
Hi Van, congrats on the upcoming 21C! Yes, the new Dometic is pretty nice!
Thanks, we’re looking forward to the rest of your comparisons. Tricia and John
Our pleasure!
May I ask why having the batteries outside a bad idea.In the cold?
Hi Jeannine! Thanks for the question! Here's a link that really talks about how cold weather affects batteries www.godownsize.com/rv-battery-freeze/. Cold weather can be very detrimental to the batteries for several reasons
Really appreciate your videos! We have been considering an Escape trailer for some time now… we really like the 21c and know you do too, as you full time in yours. Quick question regarding the bathroom.. what are the dimensions of the 21c bathroom? It seems larger than the 21ne and the 19. Appreciate your time and assistance!
We really appreciate you watching! I don't have the exact dimensions but the 21C does have a larger bathroom than the other models
Thumbs up on your contrast and comparison! I’m with you on the storage, black tank and batteries inside. Another biggie for me is having the dinette in the back with the view and not having to crawl over your partner to get in & out of bed.
Thanks Ellen! If it wasn't for the loss of truck bed storage I'd be all over the 5th wheel!
That's a good point about the battery-bank storage being on the outside in the NE; I was leaning toward the NE & somehow I missed that difference. I'm sure Escape had a good reason for engineering it that way - would love to know why they needed to design it that way. Well now, this has me leaning toward the C as well.
You can request them to leave the battery terminations underneath the dinette bench and install the batteries yourself. That’s what I did on the 21NE
Hi Jim, I think it's a law in Canada the batteries have to be on the outside. Just like the comment below you can have the battery terminals re routed and do it yourself. It's a bummer have to do the extra step though
If you don’t get the outside storage I believe they automatically put the batteries inside
Do you remember the difference in price between the two?
the grey tank almost always fills up before the black, at leasat as long as you shower occasionally. my Casita 16 only had a tiny black tank, and it was never the limitation, the grey tank and water capacity was the limit. and yeah, we had a Casita with the crawlover bed, ugh, did not work for us...
For us, the fresh is the limiting factor when boondocking. We put a 30 gallon tank in the back of our truck so it's easier to get water. We're pretty frugal with our gray and try and shower at campground facilities or Planet Fitness between locations. We definitely could not live with a crawl over bed while full timing!
Hello Ladies! I know you have probably said it in the past but I was wondering what year your truck is, what engine, and if you have had good luck out of it? Thank you for any info as we are looking for another tow vehicle.
Hi Mike, so sorry for the slow response! We have a 2019 with the 3.5L Ecoboost engine. We really liked it until this past fall. We have a newer video at this link:ua-cam.com/video/6FgDC3CtZks/v-deo.html. It details the issue we had with our truck and the horrible Ford customer service. Our next vehicle will not be a Ford
The bed in the 21C is not a 'double', its a "full XL", which is the length of a queen, which is a big deal to us 6 footers. a full xl fitted lower sheet is a perfect fit. we use a duvet rather than a top sheet, that makes it much easier for either of us to slide out the bottom of the bed without disrupting a top sheet.
You're right, thanks for the clarification!! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Like your choice, seems like the bigger the bed more wasted space. Good review on things to consider. Can't wait for the next reviews, don't forget to talk about the options.
Did you get the oven-stove? Nice editing on your video's too. Can you tow this with a Tacoma Truck or would you have to get a Tundra Size, what is the weight? Escape Trailers needs to pay you two because their video's are bad, yikes! Hated to say that; but like yours much better.
HI SA! So sorry for the slow response! We actually did not get the stove in our 21C. We like having the extra storage. I think I would definitely go with a Tundra. The weight of ours with everything in it is about 4900 lbs. Thanks so much for the compliment!!!! I think theirs are getting better though!
What do you do for lawndry and drying ?
Hi Serge, we go to a laundry mat
Great video, my wife and I had ordered the 21NE originally but decided to go with the 5.0TA which we take delivery in January 2022. Will you be doing a comparison on the 21 vs the 5.0TA? We’d love to meet up with you ladies at some point when we start our Escape adventure.
Yes, we will be doing a 21C vs 5.0! Should be out in a week or 2. We'd love to see you too!
@@AdventuresInNoMadness , awesome, looking forward to seeing the comparison of the 21C vs 5.OTA.
I’m heading up to sumas to pick up our trailer sometime in January. It would be great to meet you ladies in the future. We live in L.A. but want to start out RV travels and meet people.
I thinking and dreaming of the 5th wheel pros and cons ?
The 21C vs 5.0 will be out in the next week or 2!
Look what I found. I know the stars of this flick.
Hi ladies I get to be first to comment today.
Yes you do, thanks so much!
