Thragg is such a well written character and as is a quality of most well written villians, I almost sympathize with him more than the protagonists. Consider his situation for a second. He was bred to be the most powerful Viltrumite, so is it any wonder why he values power above all else? Even if that's the case, his tactics at leading his people is not of conquest and conquering. He is diplomatic in his methods, and wants nothing more than the sustainment of his species. He is unwittingly thrust into the role of leader and his loyalty to the Viltrum Empire is absolute and unwavering. Sure, the remaining Viltrumites all blindly respect the "Wisdom" of the king's bloodline, but realistically, Nolan and Mark were just seconds ago traitors trying everything in their power to annihilate the entire Viltrumite race and effortlessly and carelessly flew through your homeworld in an attempt to break you. In comparison to all the rest of the viltrumites, who just flipped allegiances like that, he was the most consistent character through and through. While Thragg is fighting in the sun with Mark, he explains exactly this point. The Viltrum empire died the second the revelation of Nolan's bloodline was revealed. I can't help but have pity for Freddy Mercury.
I agree. He was nothing but loyal to the Viltrum empire which is his home planet. He cares about nothing more than the survival of his species. Take into consideration that they were threatened by the scourge virus so it makes sense that he wants to conquer as much planets as possible to expand their resources. It's interesting how Mark and Nolan can be seen as villains in a different perspective. They literally destroyed another planet. That doesn't make them any better than Thragg.
@sheshereisntshe297eah but it makes sense. All it took in our human history was skin color or other differences in quality to believe in a “superior race”, and when you add godlike abilities and an almost immortal lifespan, it’s really not shocking that eventually viltrum would have this long and dark time upon them. Just think about if viltrum was very technologically advanced but not morally. I’m sorta hoping that the show will connect that dark period of Darwinism and conquering planets to thragg’s rule as emperor starting from after the viltrumite civil war, and the time before that was a period of peace led by argall. It just wouldn’t make sense for viltrum to be a violent race from the very beginning. It had to have taken a few generations or something before viltrum fell into their darker ways, and it would make the most sense to shift that blame on when thragg took over after argall’s assassination because if you look at the way thragg was raised, obviously it doesn’t sound very healthy being bred from birth to be the strongest with no room for any love or anything, so what better way to establish him as the final villain of the show?
@Advil Not really... The entire time I assumed he had some sort of savior complex and how he wanted to be the only superhero to save the day. It's not at all obvious that he wanted to take over the earth and genocide it. Which I think is an amazing job by the writers of the show.
2:13 According to Darwin's Origin of Species, it is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself. Kind of a big deal, kinda.
I cant wait for the great debates of "How could you forgive OmniMan" and the counters of "You forgave Genocidal planet destroying Vegeta who sadistcally loved every second of killing when he was younger before earth" Oh god social media is gonna be a field day once his redemption arc starts xD
I remembered there is a saying floating in the internet - " A good person means that individual is relatively beneficial to someone." He might be total arse to fragile humie, but he is total straight lad to the Viltrumite.
Well, since vegeta worked for frieza for so long, the wish to revive everyone his men killed should have revived, most of vegeta's kills are entirely gone, back to being revived. That's the main difference, dragon balls are bullshit revival tools.
Omni-Man: “No! The rest of the Viltrumites will become enlightened in their time on earth just like I was!” Me: “Nolan you literally had a family and spent time on earth for over 18 years and still decided to stick to your mission lol.”
To be fair, those 18 years were just part of his plan to complete his mission to conquere earth, all he could do was wait and then start the conquest even if he didn't want to do it. The others viltrumites were given the mission to learn
@@huntercool2232 Exactly. Know how as adults, we feel like time goes by fast? Well, that's the same for them. Omni-Man just said what he said so he could hurt Mark.
So Omni man is basically Goku if he hadn’t hit his head and actually conquered earth. Alright. Edit: Y’know what after watching episode 5 I’m convinced that Viltrumite’s are just like Saiyan’s.
I much prefer the fight with the Guardians in the cartoon. It shows that the Guardians were powerful, that Nolan was lying about them being weak, and that they really were his friends. Nolan knew that he couldn't turn against his people and that they, along with the planet and himself, would be killed if he turned against his people.
"He got impaled through the stomach, again, for, like, the 6th goddamn time. Except THIS time, things were different, because plot, so he died. The end"
It seems all vitrumite people actually enjoyed following Noland ... He gave them freedom , family's , a new home world , and actually worried for the good being of them all ... It really shows how much somebody can change when the people they love are involved ... And all of this thanks to mark who was able to soft nolands hearth In the first place
"Oh my god! I heard Nolan was attacked, is he ok?" "We're so sorry, we did all we could but... It appears he was disemboweled.." "Oh thank GOD. I thought it was something serious."
I saw a clip of omni man killing the guardians in the show. And Jesus Christ watching the invisible green suit lady was painful. She caught her friends dead body in shock and sadness only to be impaled by omni man in the head and then used as a meat shield against a water attack. The entire fight was painful and I didn’t even watched the show yet.
Yeah, the only reason I'm watching this was to see if invincible got payback or whatever. Apparently not, but whatever they're the watered down versions of the justice league(flash no phasing, Martian not able to mind control or go into bodies, Batman being stupid, etc) and they wanted to show off Nolan's strength.
@@Shakiahjprod this is the part that kinda bugs me, from seeing the comics its not like we ever get retribution for those people who were very clearly legitimate heros, and instead for some reason were gonna have to take him as an actual hero later on? I was hoping we'd get to see Mark discover what his dad did and ultimately exile him himself or better yet kill, cripple, or even strip his powers for it. No matter what anybody says about him lacking human emotions, that kind of arc just doesn't jive with me
I remember reading the comics and at first I found it hard to trust omni man, but seeing how he acted around his second wife (don’t remember her name) and Oliver after the revelation on earth, i could tell he had changed, and seeing how hard he fought to protect them from the viltrumites
Lol 😂 he destroyed his nation and his own species and you call him good 🤔would you call a person good when he being human goes to oppostion force and help to destroy whole human civillasation which was brink of annihialation Due to other reason so from one perspective Omni man is villain and pure villain
@@rupamtiwari8031His nation is from a planet full of crazy people who kill of the weak for that. Of course he'd do that. And he's not a villain, nor is he a hero. He's a Viltrumite.

Quick correction. The comics state Viltrumites get stronger by working out, adversity, and adrenaline spikes. Mark was weak as fug before serious work outs and even then Mark was mid tier till Atom Eve remade his body to match Thragg.
Those things are accurate, and I plan to cover marks increase in power in his video... but it’s not really an accurate correction when it’s stated multiple times that pure blooded viltrumites legitimately get stronger just by aging.
@@KeyIssues So they get older by aging but also by "experience" like saiyans do? Also its safe to say that given proper time and training, Nolan would be the strongest of his species (during his time) since he's a pure blood of the ruling family?
Now that you mentioned it. It all makes sense why Omni man left Mark battered like that on earth before leaving the planet. That would perhaps explain how Mark got his powers that late. In the animated series, Mark got his powers after getting beat up at school. He wasn't late bloomer just haven't been put in alot of adversity until then.
@@rafaelantoniobazzanadossan9451 so thragg would be the strongest of his species during this time? Also what about Thragg makes his stronger? Did they experiment on him when he was young or whatever or a product of eugenics? And thanks for educating
I really love amazon prime revitalising these old and underrated comics. The boys and now invincible are shaping up to be my favourite TV shows i've ever seen.
@Rip Tide they had to tackle the Stormfront story somehow It was really good, they decided to go with full character instead of plot Helped set up and understand everyone, let's see what they do with that in the future
Amazan prime didn't just do these underrated they also did a very brutal remake of a show from japan and i reccomend that you watch kamen rider amazon i assure you. You will not be disappointed its gore filled and its got a nice character and writing and its got English subs its got 2 seasons and a movie
Never thought I'd see the day when Invincible and the Boys get properly adapted in a way TWD had and probably much even better. I really hope Locke and Key would someday be given a better treatment and give it the proper R rating it deserves. Image comics has a lot of iconic stories to tell.
@@diegobrando3409 Whenever people enjoy something they always have to bash on something what tf is wrong with these fan bases. Also the boys not being good is a huge lie.People love shutting on something because they enjoy something else.Just how you see the boys as edgy someone could see invincible the same way.The minute something becomes a massive hits its bound to come with blind hate

No, thank YOU for this amazing soothing voiced analogy of Omni-Man, he is SUCH an awesome character and I'm new to the comics and alsooo sped red it all haha!
Look at the damage Nolan did against 3 of his own race. Thragg got wrecked by 3 of them. Imagine Nolan never became soft and kept training and fighting all the time. The guy is seriously a BEAST!!!
Yeah, it loses its edge fast. Also, it's just weird because even if we assume that a being has super strength, flight and regeneration, you would think they would be pretty fucked up after having their organs ripped out since they wouldn't be able to circulate blood, or eat or anything, but I guess that's why most comic books never use that trope
@@Deadlyaztec27 they are literal gods. The comic says to ultimately kill them is ethier extreme mutilation or destruction of the heart. That's why Nolan died
There is actually a vultormite guardian dude that just casually pops at the end of the fight holding his intestines and saying ' ok, well done we will be back later'...
It's an exciting plotline. Superman is going unhinged and killing people with super strength and speed. It also helps that he has character arcs, with his redemption being the best.
I hope in the show it shows allens and nolans conversations in prison and them growing closer instead of it just being told to us that they became friends. I feel like season 2 can end with Allen and Nolan being imprisoned and then throughout season 3 we can see scenes of them bonding and talking and dropping exposition and plot points to each other to make it engaging.
I went into watching this show thinking it was going to be a calmer non-violent superhero show. Universe proved me wrong. Decided, hey, why don't we just show a kryptonian-saiyan killing a knock-off justice league, to show that this show is The Boys on crack.
I mean, idk about all that. Its a lot different than The Boys. The Boys is about corporate evil and how it would mingle with superheros, and its more of a greasy, human story. Invincible is more like a classic superhero story, but it has more intergalactic politics and gratuitous violence. Where The Boys was a deconstruction of superheroism, Invincible is a mutation of it. Both are fucking amazing, but its like Lord of the Rings vs Game of Thrones.
He came as a villain but not really since he didn’t kill anyone but helped people (his soon to be wife) then became a real villain by killing the guardians and became a hero, became a villain again lol then last but not least, died a hero.
Mark got really strong and I don’t feel like anyone realized. The first time he got punched by Nolan it was really rough, but at the end of the season he got wrecked and still survived
Imagine if Viltrumites were actually future human descendants who eventually returned to the past. That would explain why they look alike compared to other alien races.
@Aluzky I just think it’s coincidence. The people on the bug planet have a species that look similar to earth’s praying mantis and the viltrumites have a species that look like homosapiens.

As it was said they have lots of endurance so breaking bones doesn't always guarantee a win unless they are very weak, the spine is quite tough and back attacks are less likely and the chest is, of course protected by the ribs, and the brain is protected by their skull, so the easiest strike, with their brute strenght would be the abdomen which only has muscles as protection and they can pierce trough with ease.

It was so good! Definitely gonna watch it all. Hope they do fix Mark’s character though - I can see some cracks appearing that might make him a very unlikeable protagonist in the future.
Freeing Thragg wasn’t a big mistake. It was what set the Viltrumites on the path of enlightenment Nolan wished for them. A decision having consequences isn’t the same as a decision being bad.
Politically, it was a mistake, as letting the biggest threat to your rule run free and unsupervized is asking for trouble. Legacy wise, its a symbolic gesture that Viltrum culture will change. and which version of Viltrum prevailed in the end of the comics? Nolan's/Mark's, not Thragg's.
I have never even heard of this comic strip before. But I watched this video from beginning to end because it was so interesting! You did a great job a narrating this story!
Maybe you should have read it in advance when it was teased. That’s when I first learned about it. I finished it and I must say it’s pretty interesting
This series is over 5 years old. I don't know how I remembered the single podcast I'd heard about it from in 2016, but yeah. It's been around. There are gems everywhere. By the way, sorry if you aren't into Manga, but the two best imo are: Berserk (1989 and still running, called the MacBeth of manga), and GUNNM (1991 and still running, also known as "Battle Angel Alita," which inspired James Cameron to personally push visual technology for twenty years until he could make a movie adaptation).
You can't truly judge something until you tried it. How could you say if you like chips if you never tasted them? Or how could you say if you like massacring local population on primitive planet like Earth until you tried it? He tried that, and he understood that he doesn't like it. Seems pretty understandable to me ^^
@Undead Tar I understand the first part clearly, his objective from the get go was to conquer the planet. It's the change of heart that falls short for me. I feel like such drastic decision should be better explored, either by the video or by the comic.
@@ImperativeGames There are many things that you can say you don't like without trying them. I could tell that One Piece would be a bad series but tried it because someone gave the argument you just did and I never made it past the first few chapters, for example. The ability to judge things in advance as true vs false is what makes this possible. Ergo, logic.
This is why Batman was paranoid and had a contingency plan for the Justice League (edit wow 395 likes👍 thank you everyone this is my most liked comment ever cheers 🍻)
Knowing how strong Krypton’s military was, it could’ve been a pretty dark reality if things hadn’t gone south for the planet. Superman could’ve been a pretty serious threat
I was immediately hooked with the series when it came out, i literally couldnt wait for every episode to come out. Recently i decided to pick up the comics and read all of them in a little over a week. Easily the best comic book ive ever read, and ive read thousands of comics. It really shows why the canonic titles of marvel and dc suck, and have sucked for a long time. Theres no purpose, no direction, nothing is final, they constantly change writers. After watching your videos I've seen what may be coming and I'm hyped for season 2
There’s a lot of “nursing back to health” in this series 💀
Therre is nearly some speak of "recycling" I dare say...
@@stevendalloesingh1214 no kidding lol and “nursing back to health” also means character development
Yeah because realistically if yo were a superhero, you would spend most of your time in hospital.
So basically Goku if he didn't bump his head when he was a kid.
Lol
bruh just finished the three episodes and damn was it good
For sure, really enjoyed it
joao santo dunno, but next episode on Friday
@joao santo there's supposed to be 8 episodes in season 1
@joao santo There are like over 140 issues of the comic so if the tv series is going to keep up with that it might have as many seasons as The Walking Dead TV show if it's a hit.
The budget of their animations is very well handled and i hope it dosent fade like other animated shows
sorry buddy
Caboose why sorry
@@jack_kerins animation quality took a huge hit on episode 4
Caboose ffs one punch man all over again
@@jack_kerins yeah except for a whole 12 episode season we get 3 episodes to suck us into watching the rest of the show
"You may have invaded my mind and my body, but there's one thing a Viltrumite always keeps. HIS PRIDE!"

Aww dude you stink, I got all excited when I thought Freddy Mercury was gonna be in it. 😢
Hahahaha sorry dude
Bring a whole new level to Killer Queen
No but Abraham Lincoln is lol
I have never even heard of this comic strip before. But I watched this video from beginning to end because it was so interesting! You did a great job a narrating this story!
Im actually honestly torn on watching this. I realllly want to read the comics first because the show has me full hooked.
Maybe you should have read it in advance when it was teased. That’s when I first learned about it. I finished it and I must say it’s pretty interesting
@@samuelhermosillo4532 I just finished the first 8 issues. Really good so far.
GOD DAMN IT TONY YOU TOLD ME TO MAKE THEM THIS WAY :)
You should
Comic is 100% worty
This series came out of nowhere and I love it
Its amazing
This series is over 5 years old. I don't know how I remembered the single podcast I'd heard about it from in 2016, but yeah. It's been around. There are gems everywhere.
By the way, sorry if you aren't into Manga, but the two best imo are:
Berserk (1989 and still running, called the MacBeth of manga), and GUNNM (1991 and still running, also known as "Battle Angel Alita," which inspired James Cameron to personally push visual technology for twenty years until he could make a movie adaptation).
Are we all going to ignore how many times these characters have been impaled
Their healthcare must be very expensive 😂😂😂😂
They were Kakyoined
well that is the neat thing about super being who also have super healing power.
Are we going to ignore how many other people talks about everyone getting impaled?
Can’t help but see Omni-Man as Homelander.
Same but Omni seems more op
It still doesn't make sense why he would kill all the heroes at the beginning.
He kills them and immediately goes "oops, I regret that."
To be honest sounds like lazy writing
@@othienoburton5432 more like lazy reading to me
Bro, the seriousness in your voice when you said Thragg was Freddy Mercury was by far the best part.
When he said Freddy mercury he had me at the first half ngl
I lost my shit when you said “Freddy Mercury.”
Thragg: disembowels someone ....."Is this the reeeal life". Disembowels someone else " Is this just fantasyyyy".
"Caught in a landslide" *splat* "no escape from reality." *blorch*
*Nolan punches shit out of mountain, killing dozens*
"Caught in a landsliiiide"
_THINK, MARK, THINK!_
"No escape from realityyyy"
Your telling me Omni-man had a child with an insect imagine what her-
Like he chooses that over MARKS MOM 😫😭
Yes... I'll bet it felt good, and she's a sweetheart.
Ffs, you people need to look up moth-mommy Juniper.
lmao when he said that I was like how hot is this insect wtf?!?!
@Lo Livingston noo😫 I felt so bad for her imagine wasting 20 years of your life to be considered a pet 😭😭
@@queentaylor5986 Its a complement, though. I see nothing wrong with that. A companion by def.
This is why Batman was paranoid and had a contingency plan for the Justice League (edit wow 395 likes👍 thank you everyone this is my most liked comment ever cheers 🍻)
And I would to 💯 And his was A1 and calculated 💯
Batman one of the most realistic ppl in comics.
Knowing how strong Krypton’s military was, it could’ve been a pretty dark reality if things hadn’t gone south for the planet. Superman could’ve been a pretty serious threat
You do realize that other heroes in JL are insanely poweful as well right..Omni man
Would be wiped off by the likes of martian manhunter or Shazam.
@@ALstark99 could u imagine him going up against Doomsday?
I was immediately hooked with the series when it came out, i literally couldnt wait for every episode to come out. Recently i decided to pick up the comics and read all of them in a little over a week. Easily the best comic book ive ever read, and ive read thousands of comics. It really shows why the canonic titles of marvel and dc suck, and have sucked for a long time. Theres no purpose, no direction, nothing is final, they constantly change writers. Kirkman is a genius and an amazing writer, glad you are spreading the knowledge about this cult comic book!
Is the show sticking to the comic? I'd like to get the comic but don't want it to ruin the show lol
Omniman: only the strongest of my species survives.
Saxton Hale: I LOIKE THIS GUY
Saxton could 1v1 any Veltrimite and win I guarantee you
Hale has the most powerful superpower in existence, his Bare hands
Hale is powered with Australium so he's kinda like a viltrumite except he can't fly.
@@clashoclan3371 he isnt just powered by australium, he IS Australium
Man, if the leader of his people was actually Freddy Mercury, and instead of dying on earth, he left to rule his people, that would be more epic than Bowie in Venture Bros haha
