Things I love about this 1. This guy has a job doing things via the Internet but came up with a handwritten journaling concept and was able to find what works best. 2. He's not necessarily trying to capitalize off of this. Yeah, he made a journal you can buy, but he's encouraging people to use whatever and just wants to get his idea out in the world. Idk he just seems super humble and I like it
It's his relatability factor. And a nice excuse to get a hands on approach to controlling our life with out the need of a screen. Not sure about you, but I love pen to paper.
I like the format of the video. It's straight to the point, very informative and instructional and he doesn't waste much time on an unnecessarily long introduction. Sometimes 4 minutes is all you need to get an idea across that can change lives.
I also really like that he's not making it super fancy, his handwriting is pretty ugly and he's willing to make mistakes - as opposed to a big part of the bujo community who (to me) seem to be more concerned about aesthetics and instagram-worthy perfect pages than actual journaling. But I don't want to be hypocritical - aesthetics IS a big part of why bullet journaling is so much fun. Still, looking at the almost cult-like community sometimes makes me wonder what it's all about.
Anyone new starting this keep in mind a couple of things. 1. Use any notebook you have laying around 2. Stick with the basics. Don’t modify too much until you got a good handle on bullet journaling 3. Don’t worry about making it pretty. If you have crooked sentences or misspelled words you’re doing it right.
Just bought a new fancy notebook (ran out of pages on my old random one perfect timing at the end of the year) and messed up twice on my dates in monthly log… like this 8 9 01 11 … 18 19 10 21 22 lol. Just leaving it as is, pretty cool accident
yea, and if people wonder how long until you can modify or already have a good understanding of the bullet journaling, it is around 3-6 months sticking to the basics
Genesis Nieves it's not supposed to be overwhelming. It's supposed to be insanely simple. If you're getting caught up in all the complex and artistic bullet journals out there, don't. Stick with the version in this video. It's very useful
Some people think that bullet journaling and creative journaling are the same thing, and they are not. There is so much value in the simplicity of this system.
@@lexdraws1729 Yes, but you probably don't get shxt done that way. I have a friend who has quite the amount of artsy bullet journals. She used them to track various TV shows like GoT etc. For relaxation purposes it's probably quite good.
@@joeschmoe3815 I feel like this kind of hits the nail on the head re: something I've been struggling with? I do like creative journalling but I couldn't figure out for a while why creative journalling would get me to sit down but not get much practical stuff DONE, until someone was talking about a similar struggle. (Art stuff taking over and no 'get sh*t done' happening. I've seen a person do very creative and VERY organized stuff, but their work was so extensive and SO minutely organized I felt like it took their particular mind to do it. They could make an artistic layout but still have their scheduling and journalling so tidily regimented and predictable it would consistently fit. I've been thinking lately about doing small regimented pops of decoration in bullet journalling to help with visual reminders-at-a-glance, but with a key in the front/method ahead of time. And then keep the full creative/art therapy journalling for something else. Because hoo boy, the more people talk about how creative journalling can become a distraction the more I realize it's useful to me in some contexts but still falls VERY much under that umbrella in others.
Also, I think this kinda happened in junk journalling too? Using the name as a recognizable pseudo-brand for SEO even as people began using it for purely buying vintage-style accessories? But although I've heard people talk about this I'm not totally on the in-group-gossip so I could be off-base.
Perfect method. I feel like people are making bullet journaling way more complicated than it needs to be, which is fine for them; but can be discouraging for people like me who are extreme perfectionists and just need something simple.
Then don't do that. you already have a big enough issue from the anxiety of being a perfectionist. perfectionism is a pretty strong fear of criticism, either your own or someone elses.

Best intro bullet journal video I have watched. Straight to the point. No mindless chatter about the color and texture of the journal No annoying finger rings, gangly bracelets, butterfly clips, glitter, kitty stickers, little pink pens, etc. What a joy to find you. You are the KonMarie of journaling. Love it. Thank you.
If I'm not mistaken, Ryder invented bullet journalling :) or at least systemized it in this way. The more decorative ones have adapted it to their own preferences/needs. I love this original minimalist version though! works very well for me too x
As a fellow ADHDer, I am thankful that one of us came up with this concept and shared it with others. I have no idea why it evolved into something purely aesthetic for so many when its purpose was to keep us organized, yet, give us freedom/remove constraints of a typical planner. To each their own, I suppose. I am just glad that I can now put all my thoughts, tasks, random notes into one place instead of having them scattered all over the house and/or my brain. Thanks, Ryder!
I don’t know either; and now bullet journaling has become synonymous with being an artist or being able to draw. I always see complaints of ‘I want to bullet journal but I can’t draw!!’ and it’s like uhhh… fun fact: it was never about that. Somewhere along the line this simple, effortless routine became so complex.
Elena K key phrase; seek the information from the original sources.. there are too many fake & fraud people who are only operating under their "EGO", leave alone serving others with thier lives.. Thank God for gifting us with such pure, innocent and humble people who are devoting some of thier resources in order to give away thier share of benevolence.. their share of creating a better life for the rest of the world.. no matter what!!
it's irony at its finest. the creative journaling systems that have coopted the name bullet journal, a task management system for people with disorders like adhd, are the exact thing the original Bullet Journal system was made to counteract - over engineered and time consuming task management systems.
i have adhd and the creative aspect is the truly most important bit to me about it. yes, its great for keeping important stuff oraganized and not forgotten, but letting me make it pretty just feeds my soul and is a good outlet for that restless energy that needs something to do (ie doodling in school notebook corners)
I am retired, age 75. First learned of this method from my college-age granddaughter. I was intrigued by what she was doing, even though she puts a lot more artistry than I would into her bullet journaling, but this perfectly fits her personality. What intrigued me most was that it was working for her. She struggled through high school and first 2 years of college keeping it all together and getting things done. In my working days, most of my jobs featured lots of multi-tasking, and I was better than average keeping myself and my job organized. I even used my own version of many of these same ideas noted here (rats! that I didn't think to monopolize on that! haha). Okay, I'm retired and my in-box is still full! Two half-written novels. Quilts in various stages of completion. Books to read. Travel. Blah, blah, blah. Life is full, thank you. Many times I've said to myself, "I need to approach my to-do lists and projects as though I am at work." Easy said. Hard to do. I'm jumping in with bullet journaling and I'm going to use what I have on hand: spiral notebooks. Anticipating filling more than one journal, I will mark the outside of each journal with my name, Bullet Journal, and beginning date. Will add end date when it's full. Your video was right on point and was just enough to get me moving! Thanks.
Hi Martha! I really enjoyed your comments. I'm wondering, 2 years on, how it's going for you? I really need something to help my mind stay focused and bought a "fancy" bujo a few weeks ago (see what I mean?lol) and have started the process of learning how to use it. I almost feel overwhelmed by the set up but I think I can do it. Perhaps I can "zen out" putting the effort into seeing my life on paper.
I mean, I'm only 20 but I'm having a similar experience with at work, I'm advancing fast because I get things done quickly and can multitask very well, but my personal life is a mess! Like I've been putting off making doctors appointments, half finished art projects, finishing paperwork for myself, and more. But work? Amazing! I've always wished I could just apply my work work ethic to my life work ethic. Please let me know if this worked for you. I'd love to hear it!
@@karenmangkennedy7495 in my own experience, if you're finding it hard to start just get a simple spiral notebook so your aren't so intimidated by starting and making mistakes, then move on to something more refined and fancy. Just have fun with it and make silly little mistakes, it's what's worked for me.
Learning something new is hard in the beginning. Anything worth having requires work. Why so many trolls gotta hate on this? This guy was kind enough to share for FREE a new inovative system he came up with. You don't like it walk away and take your negativity with you. Or get yourself a journal and pour your hate into that instead.
Oh wow, that is never gonna work; telling people to "walk away and take [their] negativity with [them]". You'd be better served when just ignore all these people. Grow up.
I find it really interesting seeing how much bullet journaling has changed since its inception. It’s so neat and simple from the get go and now it’s blossomed into a huge community of people from artsy to minimalistic. I find myself somewhere in the middle with just lists not quite reaching everything I need, but finding not as enjoyable when I force the cute art style. I absolutely LOVE my bullet journal and am so thankful for this man’s invention.
6 years later, still the most elegant form among all. Does anyone else feel the rise of anxiety when looking at the more colorful and recent remakes of this classic?🤣
Thought I was the only one. I keep it to myself because it sounds so judgmental, but seriously I just want to scream at them "Dude, you're taking away the very reason the method works in the first place, simplicity!"
I do think that's what is so wonderful about the bullet journal system though! It is so flexible that you can use it for whatever you want to. Creative bullet journals aren't for everyone, but I don't think that makes them bad. I'm definitely not an artist, so doing over the top can be overwhelming for me, but I love seeing how other people put together their journals :)
@@bee6911 I am an artist but the elaborate journals full of decorations are so intimidating to me. They take away the very essence of why BuJo works. I have no problem with a doodle page from time to time or using colored markers for a habit tracker, but incorporating decorations into my monthly or daily log has never worked for me. Just thinking out loud (and maybe generalizing) here but it feels like a very neurotypical way of thinking. Where neurodivergents (ADHD, ASD etc.) need to declutter their minds and keep it simple, neurotypicals have the space in their minds, the time in their day, and the focus to add all these embellishments. To me, it just makes it more complicated than it needs to be and adds unnecessary pressure to make something 'look good'.
I think they are beautiful, but I really like the flexibility this provides. You can go crazy some days or minimal other days. I've avoided Bujo for so long until I realized that.
on a side note it's pretty funny that a bunch of people on here are complaining about writing down dates as waste of time while they passively watch youtube videos
@Adil Zinoune My life is plenty organized with a predone planner (you know, the one that people used before 2015) and I save me the time but thank you. If i'm to do the whole shabang it better look pretty because it isn't efficient.
Just my opinion: Bullet Journals are not overly complicated at all. In fact, it completely simplifies my life. Everything has a place and a purpose. You don't lose track of tasks. You always have your work and your play right at your fingertips. It is so simple yet so genius. Don't knock it until you understand it and try it.
I was totally disorganised and floating through life. This bullet journal has totally changed my life! Unfinished projects are suddenly getting done. I'm turning up to events and planning ahead. I'm booking things in advance! What a difference this has made to my life!
Update: I wrote a comment 9 months ago about how I’d jot this down for meetings and to do lists. I’m now completely converted to full bullet journaling. Lessons learned: 1. When starting, as Ryder says, go simple. I started with a basic note book and used the symbols system described in this video (dots, dashes and circles). This got me started, and within a matter of weeks, I realised the value of the month log and future log 2. It took me a while to understand collections. I’ve got it now. Some people might get this from the start. For others, this is likely to come organically over time, as it did me. I’d have a bunch of dot points I’d need to write out related to the same thing. For instance selling my house. Instead of every day putting down all these dot points in between my every day dot points of - doing groceries, booking an appointment with the dentist, talk with Brett about handing off work to Tim, etc. I knew I needed one place I could keep turning back to to view a “collection” of similar tasks, notes and events that related to selling my house. 3. Don’t seperate work and personal life: I tried this to start with, and almost immediately found it cumbersome. Instead, just blend it all in one. Think about the to do lists you write every day on a piece of paper. You’d likely include a mix of personal and work stuff. Do groceries, fill up the car, take dog to vet, book leave, raise issue with boss, pay electricity bill, etc. You don’t bother having seperate bit of paper at home to split these things now, don’t split it artificially with bullet journaling. Enjoy your journaling 😊
Thank you! :) Just got mine and am setting it up at the moment. Its already been lifting a weight off my shoulders, i definitely liked having this simple over view, its what attracted me to the bujo in the first place :)
I am in the middle of creating my own organization system and quickly came to the same conclusion: that separating different aspects of life into different contexts is not helpful.. our mind is relatively single-threaded, so creating multiple threads and trying to keep track of it all is a bit counterproductive (my opinion) - glad to hear someone else say it!
A long time I thought that a Bullet Journal NEEDS to be artsy and stuff, but it never worked for me to keep a Bullet Journal artsy and decorative. I also started them because I just wanted to have a beautiful looking journal...Even though they were useless for me. Last year during Homeschooling I felt so disorganized and wanted to start Bullet journaling to be more organized. I am picky with Notebooks but I was lucky and found a perfect one for me (dots, cream-white paper, dots, round corners, grey...) Then I followed this Video, step by step and started my first Bullet Journal which worked for me. I completed 2 Bullet Journals since then. Sometimes I don't use it everyday and I wish I would use it more. I still forget things and also things in my Bullet Journal which I made to help me. I use my Bullet Journal especially to organize school related stuff, so I can overview (?) it better. Everytime I start a new Bullet Journal, I follow this Video. Before I start my new Bullet Journal I always go through my old one and think about things in my journal I want to change ("Layouts..."). But I often end up not doing it, because I want to keep my journal imperfect, so I don't end up trying to make it perfect. Usually I don't decorate my Bujo. And I don't really design something or so. I write in fountain pen or pen and I use pencil and highlighters to highlight things and add a bit of colour. On some pages I do some doodling, some leaves or a flower or some dots... Just random stuff... I love going through my old journals. They are not beautiful but I like it in general to look trough full notebooks. I like looking through pictures with beautifully decorated journals, because, well, they are just nice to look at. I have to be careful with myself, so that I stay with my journal and that I don't think I should make my journal more beautiful. I rather have a not beautifully designed and decorated Bullet Journal which is important to me because I can pour myself into it than having a beautifully designed Bullet Journal where I have to do so much to keep it nicely decorated and where "the Journal owns me". Sometimes I think more people should post their Bullet Journal pages whithout any decoration or special layout, so that more people understand that a Bullet Journal doesn't have to be decorated. But it is also a private place like a diary so... At the moment I have a lined notebook as my Summer-Holiday Bullet Journal. My last Bullet Journal got full right at the beginning of the Holidays. For the new academic year I will start a new one. I also bought the book "The Bullet Journal Method", but it was a bit disappointing and confusing for me. Interesting for me was to learn some more details abput the story of the Bullet Journal. But the book was packed with stories from Ryders Life, and other stories which were interesting but absolutely not necessary. This was a bit disappointing, because I expected the book to be more minimalistic. I also found the book pretty disorganized and hard to look through the system of it which was confusing to me. This comment got very long! Wow.. Didn't expected this... I just wanted to share my experiences with bullet journaling because I thought some people might relate to this... Greetings from Northern-Germany!
I always come back to the original how to. I love watching flip throughs and plan with me videos but some people's bullet journals are so complicated and I get discouraged so quickly because I want to incorporate all these intricate spreads and I forget how simple the journal can be
People decorate for different reasons, usually either because it invests them more in the journal, or because color coding makes more sense to them at-a-glance than the more minimalist approach. You're not doing it wrong if that doesn't work for you.
Like WhalesInTheClouds said do what works for you... for me I love to do art and doodling and colourful themes and trackers and that helps me while also giving me a creative outlet but another whole idea of bullet journalling is that you don’t have to be amazing at calligraphy or good at art or have neat handwriting because anyone can do it
3 years late but I feel this. I've always been scared to start because they all look so beautiful. I've tried a bunch of times and I always screwed up or got it right and get scared to write in it with a shitty ass pen or whatever stationery I have on me at that time. Eventually it became too time consuming for me for the journal to serve it's purpose even though I liked to do the artistic part of it. I'm glad this video exists because I've seen people have the same struggle. In the end it IS your journal and it doesn't have to be so complicated after all!
@@RockstarWarriorLady I think you misunderstood. That's what I was saying. It's okay to do a colorful journal, whatever works but, it should not be your main focus.
Yeah I used to really enjoy colourful spreads as it gave me time out of my day to plan and have fun, I no longer use these because I don’t have time but it was good for me at that time
I wish I could just turn off the comments. This is the source of how to use the ANALOG system. Don't fall for the pretty colors. He says it rather plain and simple, "The difference between being busy and being productive". It's a great system
@@amberslilrose3954 me too! I don't think anyone should put the pressure on themselves to make it look cute... Whereas for me it's a great thing for me to make videos on and it's definitely a type of meditation for me!
i've bullet journaled for years. my sister introduced me to it in college and it helped me a lot balancing my mental health and expressing my creative impulses with my needs to actually get things done, but unfortunately I couldnt find a consistent use for it as a working adult so I retired my journal after some time. as a neurodivergent entrepreneur and creative artist trying to overcome perfectionism and procrastination, coming across the ACTUAL manual now and starting afresh with this video is a GODSEND! like wow this is suddenly very applicable and useful again! thank you! i need structure!! but like, loose diy freeform structure! yes!!
I think it's seen as too much work because people are used to buying an appointment book or planner already set up for you. They see having to keep up with this kind of journal system as basically more high-maintenance. Of course, I'm not saying those people are lazy; those same people may just as well use a spiral notebook to create a similarly rigid planner. But it's the fact that such a journal, instead of a planner, requires the entries and work put into it to be more fluid. It's the difference between a car and a train. A train might carry a larger load, but it is direct and goes only where it's needed. Whereas a car can carry many small loads over the course of a day, but can route those loads where needed based upon what's carried. And if the route needs changing, it can change without too much being inflicted on the daily course.
I agree. And yet people who complaining how they don't have time but use that same amount of time to plot time into their apps. Which btw apps does take longer since there is a learning curve, and dowload time.
I thought it would be too funny much as well but really for just a basic setup it hardly takes any time. If you want to make it all artsy go for it. I actually find that relaxing but don’t have time to make is that pretty initially. I’ll just throw the basic layout on there and decorate the pages later. I do prefer a weekly spread to a daily spread because it’s less overwhelming to see my appointments and write down what needs to be done that week without having to look at the monthly layout. Likewise if I assign things to specific dates they don’t always get done.
I love how impersonal and practical this video is, like it was truly made to help other people. Other journaling videos are way too focused on personal experiences rather than being objective. Thanks for that!
Ryder you have changed my life for the good. Not only has the bullet journal revolutioned my mental well being, but your kind, calming, and peaceful presence is a gift to my soul. Thank you.
Anyone else here from that Tumblr post about how bullet journaling has been gentrified by neurotypicals into an aesthetic movement and how the original guy developed the method because he has a learning disability and this is meant to be an aid, not an art piece? This guide is so good and actually makes it seem useful to me instead of just another thing to stress about.
Yeah, that post encourage me a lot, I'm reconsidering trying bullet journaling once again after being discouraged by the "aesthetic" aspect playing a huge role in some internet communities.
This IS the creator of it speaking in this video My bullet journal is exactly like this in that it’s all handwritten with ONE gel ink pen I even draw the lines by hand, without a ruler As a person with perfectionistic tendencies, introducing different coloured inks and art would be my idea of a self-invented hell On my ninth bullet journal now It’s been a liberating practice!
The comments on this video are really strange. Anyway, it's not about making note-taking faster, it's about organization and being able to recall the information or utilize the notes you took. Sure it takes a few minutes to set up. You'll gain those few minutes back the first time you need to find something you wrote down two months ago.
Exactly! Personally I'm tired of sorting through a jillion little pieces of lists, notes, to do task, appointments, books to read, music to get ...ect...So, glad to have a Collection page to keep adding and subtracting to ...and have a shopping list that I can simply number-use-throw away and replace with the same number and keep it in the same place (I'm using unlined 3 hole punched copy paper in an 81/2 by 11 notebook.
You wouldn't say, but the method connects the what with the why. And topsecret: you inevitably learn from this. A pre made note app lists your tasks, but you don't learn anything.
what takes no time to understand? turning on a faucet? flushing a toilet? drinking a glass of water? Even coffee can be made wrong without too much trouble....
Me too! Love the concept and l think the journal looks great. Yet it took me a few rounds of watching this to sort of understand the set-up. And I'm still not sure I do....
Yep, same here, I kinda got the concept but wasn't really sure how to put in into practice. There are some good guides online that walk through it step by step. Check out www.tinyrayofsunshine.com/blog/bullet-journal-guide
This has helped me A LOT as a person with ADHD. Sure, I do forget about it sometimes and I'm still working on trying to be a bit more consistent with it, but it does help with my overall productivity and ability to remember important things, To-Do lists, ideas and brain farts. It gives me somewhere to drop things into at any point in the day that is organized enough for my brain to not have to think about too much. Side note: I realized how small your handwriting is compared to mine. I can't seem to fit those boxes with my cursive handwriting, I occupy more space so it doesn't look like a squiggly mess lol.
I was just about to search if this works for people with ADHD! I’m undiagnosed, but I’ve tried every organizer (planners, calendars, iPhone notes, agendas, sticky notes, you name it!) and nothing seems to work. For Christmas I got a bullet journal and now I’m considering to try it and see if I don’t forget things anymore. It’s great to see someone with ADHD being successful at it, it gives me hope
@@timelessbibliophile I love it, it will help you a lot. Just don't beat yourself or get discouraged if at first you forget to even open it and read the things you wrote. I got better after a few months, It helps me to declutter my mind and keep track of ideas I usually forget at the moment I come up with them...
Years later, and I'm still referring back to this intro video when I kickstart my bujo practice. Thanks for keeping it simple, and sharing your techniques
Lots of people that decorate their bullet journal kinda take offense at people saying the original method is way better than the over the top bujos we see on IG or pinterest, and I don't get it. I like to doodle and spend time decorating mine, but the truth is, doing that has affected my productivity in the past, it has even ended up being a burden instead of a help. I don't take offense at people saying that decorating your bujo is not necessary and it can be a waste of time, because it's true!! I really enjoy decorating my bujo, but now I only do it when I really have the time, before I felt pressure to make it look nice all the time, but the original method is the best way to stay organized and be productive.
lots of people remember stuff better when it's in different colours and they spend a little more time on it. Just because you find the og way more helpful doesn't mean everyone does.
Ryder: your bullet journal system is beautifully integrated to handle the plethora of calendar dates, tasks and notes that I have struggled to get into one system. I used a daily Franklin Covey planner for years so this is similar but I love that I can choose the notebook. Your index is the missing key to being able to look back at previous entries. Also, your system means I will have no more expensive paper waste from days when I don’t update my manual calendar. Awesome! Like most folks nowadays, I have several categories of tasks, appointments & notes-some for work, family, church, hobbies… This bullet system is able to be customized to handle keeping track of each of them. Kudos to you. This should be taught to kids in junior high since they need to know how to plan so they can succeed in HS, College & life. I wish I had known then what I know now! Thanks, Ryder.
Migration makes so much more sense in this explanation!! I like the idea of moving tasks backwards (into the month log) and forwards (into the week log). I wish there was more time spent on explaining collections though!
Example: You have many notes through your bullet journal about different books you have found out that you would like to read. In order not to seek those notes through the notebook later or forget about them, you create "a collection", a separate page or spread where you put all those books you want to read in one page. Same goes for movies you want to watch or something you would like to buy. Like a wishlist. And then you put a number of that particular page in your Index to find that page later when you have a new book/movie to add.
Just finished my first Bullet Journal and preparing my second one. Awesome system. Minimalistic method that streamlined my thoughts, tasks, appointments and projects. Very flexible to individual user and project needs.
I had started bullet journaling in 2021 and I tried to make it aesthetic but it didn't work our for me. In the end all I did was waste my supplies. But now I realized that I need to keep a normal journal and a bullet journal as I need to sort out my really complicated emotions and be on time for school. I am gonna resume journaling thanks to u Ryder.
You are the GOAT. I have ADHD as well. This has been an absolute godsend. One small thing I'd like to add is: I bullet journal on goodnotes on the iPad. This makes it easier to read it on my phone in my spare time. I might not have a physical Bujo with me all the time tho which makes reviewing the bujo a bit cumbersome. Thank you, Ryder. You might as well have saved my life.
The popularized aesthetic "bullet journals" have so little use, yet they are everywhere. I completely forgot that they are supposed to be simple like this 😅
That's where everything went wrong. A bujo will evolve naturally with the owner of the book. Trying to copy someone else artistic template just won't work at all.
I started with this tutorial years ago and it worked, but I loved the looks when the more esthetic ones became popular and wanted to have a beautiful one myself. Never worked for me, although I tried many times. Never used them for more than 2 weeks. Seemed to be more work than benefit. Today I came back to get the original inspiration back
I have tried decorating regular journal it takes ages and doing on every single page becomes a chore. What's with the brush lettering, pinterest shows lots of example of bullet journals they resemble more of art journal. I think more of Aesthetics. I rather keep thing simple no fancy templates, stamps, stickers especially washi tape I use those in junk journals. Coloured pens can be useful to highlight different topics no more than 2 colours.
@@7Fupsy7 That is exactly what I did and feel so relieved and light. Very happy with getting back to what it really is and about. I bought two of the 2ns Edition Bullet Journals and ready to get started!
After watching this video, I don’t need to look at anything else. The simplicity of it all is what got me. I’m working on so many projects all at once that it becomes overwhelming at times and I feel I don’t get things done in a timely manner especially, using notes from my phone. That already could be a pain and distraction because I’m using my phone. Bullet journaling is such a good way to give the phone and your brain a rest, focus and bring ideas together quickly and efficiently but mostly go back to the pen and sheet of paper without relying on modern tech to get your life organized. and for the perfectionist like me… DON’T OVERTHINK IT, KEEP IT SIMPLE LOL
Coming back to the OG version cause now bullet journaling has become a basic necessity for many but the artsy bujo is so hyped which makes me so overwhelmed and to top it off , so many bullet journaling videos have lost the basic point and have started to overdose the idea with BS. I love this simple version. I'll be only watching this channel and no other channel , this simple version is probably the most accessible , achievable and productive among all the other systems I have seen.
This helped a lot. When I didn’t bullet journal for a month, I went into this bad depression and found no motivation to do anything. Now, I’m organized and feel great. It helps motivate me to do the things I should do, and helps me visualize all of it without feeling overwhelming.
Great video for beginners - I saw some ridiculous videos prior to seeking out the inventor, which were extremely offputting. I wanted exactly this - an ADULT explaining it and examples of a minimalist, functional bullet journal. Not one with stickers, doodles, and curly fonts all over it. This is a powerful tool, especially for those with ADD. I have just set up my bullet journal in the last week, and I can already see it's implications for improving my life. I use it constantly throughout the day, to capture fleeting thoughts while remaining 'on task'. Loving it! Edit: I use the 'Travellers Notebook' (basically a leather cover inside which notebooks can be inserted & removed when filled), with three inserts. The first is a grid notebook I use for the logs, shopping lists, current projects, etc. The 2nd is blank for sketching. The 3rd is for Collections I'll keep in there long-term so I don't have to transfer into a new journal - contacts, important information, art medium swatches, travel ideas, quotes etc. Love it so much!
This video makes me want to cry? It's like. An updated version of how I organize my thoughts already anyway. I love the super simple and visual markers for the bullet points, they're SO easy to understand! I use a similar system at work to keep my tasks organized- I always make a new "to do" list every day, by copying over the things i didn't get to the previous day, and crossing out the things I DID do. Going back and re-reading things I never crossed out (or copied over) gives me a 2nd reading to see if I need to actually do that task or if it's no longer relevant. It's a little messy, due to the nature of my work, but this... this is so simple it's. It's simply brilliant. Thank you
The method you described for daily tasks at work… does adding on the monthly and future log bring something more? I’m struggling with prioritization and tasks that take different amounts of time. Thanks for your comment!
@@audreyklingele4993 Not for me, at the momebt! I have two notebooks, one for personal stuff and one for work. I work in film, and for my current show there really aren't many long term tasks I need to do. I imagine if you were doing something like project management where you have a lot of long term goals to work toward, having a future goals section would be really helpful! You could also, instead of focusing just on your day-to-day tasks, have a "weekly goals" log if that helps better. At the start of each week you could start by writing out what you need to accomplish for the week, ie, "This week I want to have the supplies cabinet organized", which you could then break up into "Monday is for top shelf organizing", "tuesday is for middle shelf", etc. But it depends a lot on what your work is and what your goals and tasks are :)
I only knew al these colourful bullet journals with stickers that influencers show and I thought them as a waste of time until a friend send me this video and gave me a dot bullet journal. Maybe this is the way I will stop procrastinating and forgetting things and meetings. Thank you fot keeping it simple.
Same I was always depending my iPhone to do important tasks and events and somehow they never got saved so I decided to go old school and maybe jot down some notes whenever I have an idea thanks for this bullet journal
This simple method is much more practical compared to the fancy journals. I have used the simple format for 3 years now and never went back to decorating my journal.
BuJo releasing us from fixed template and timeframe. The index is the one key access for all. That's how modular and almost limitless a BuJo from design perspective.
it's cool seeing this after watching so many bullet journal videos from other youtubers. much more aesthetic and creative and versatile but it's interesting to see that it started out like this.
Every one in a while, I come back to this video just to remind myself that my Bullet Journal doesn’t need to be fancy, it needs the efficiency to have my work done. Great video as always.
Nice video. I used a somewhat similar method decades ago when I was "Facility Coordinator" for a about 100 employees in a software development firm. Essentially I was shipping/receiving, stock clerk, vendor liaison and a few other hats. I developed a form on standard paper that allowed me to track any sort of interaction, whether it was an incoming request/actionable item, or something I was expecting in response from another person, department, organization. There were categories that helped me quickly organize. Each sheet got put in a 3-ring binder with tabs depending on a "major" category. At the end of the day each note was reviewed for completion status. It was an excellent system that took elements of professional daily organizers. What this system has WAAYYYY over mine is it's "freeform" design to keep notes uncluttered.
Sometimes the way to approach these things is to take the best qualities of several "systems" and adapt them to your own personality and way of thinking. Some of us are not able to be as rigid as is required to maintain such a system, so we have to adapt it's best methods to ourselves; and not ourselves to it.

Many UA-camrs have gone a bit overboard with your method, making it overly complex and straying from its original purpose. That's why I gave up on bullet journaling several times - it felt too time-consuming. I'm glad I found your channel. You've inspired me to give it another try, and I have high hopes for this time around 😄
Sometimes people's purpose is to have a creative outlet - which people have definitely found! Glad you found our channel though :) We have definitely tried to help convey that you don' tneed to spend a ton of time in the method to do it!
This was the clearest, most concise & condensed description of "how to bullet journal" I've seen yet! Thank you for keeping it simple. I love seeing how everybody decorates their journal, very inspiring. But they are all missing the mark on just giving me the nuts & bolts of how to actually bullet journal. I appreciate the down & dirty tutorial. Thanks again 🥰
This is so awesome. I've been taking notes on my computer for years because I love the organization that digital notes allow, as far as spacing, arrangement, organization, etc. At my new job its just quicker and less distracting to take notes in a notebook like everyone else does. This organization has answered all my concerns with written notes. Thanks!
First it was us Wiccans and our fear to totally screw up our books of shadows and now everyone's afraid to screw up their bullet journals :'D Thx for the video!♥
I had no idea the inventor of the bullet journal was male. Everyone I've seen make use of them are female, super interesting! I like the simplicity of this one.
Just shows how social media can deceive people into seeing bullet journalling as a feminine thing when really it is for everyone to organise their lives and plan
Since when did gender got to do anything with this? 😂 Lol don't take this comment seriously but I honestly never associated bullet journalling with any gender of sorts but that's just me. Lol
I've been meaning to do something with a bullet journal for a few years now. I have the book Ryder wrote, I have my dot matrix journal and so on. I don't think I've ever come across an organising and productivity system this clean and clear. I really love that it is analogue - I seem to be heading that way for a number of things these days. It will help me enormously to prioritise what really needs to be done. I've set up for July 2022 and I'm looking forward to beginning and especially to getting used to the system so that I can use it effortlessly. Thank you so much for coaching us through the system, I really appreciate it.
Started this almost a year ago, never have i been so organized on college. I legit now know the exact dates of exams and presentations, I can plan a lot easier and in a way can see time. I actually came back to recommend this video to a friend and feel like i should tell people how much this helped me. I changed a lot on how i bujo but started as explained in the video
I love this video because it shows that bullet journals don’t have to be fancy. People feel the need to make a ‘cute’ bullet journal but a simple one is just as functional and effective.
I really like this video, and this guy, and this bullet journal concept... -- The journal, because it's simple and streamlined and doesn't get in the way of itself -AND- incredibly flexible and malleable. -- Ryder, the presenter, because he is straight forward, to the point, easy to understand, not at all pretentious. -- The video: @ t=1:09 when Ryder creates the 6 months of future log, he begins with May, but then ten seconds later when he makes his first monthly log page, he steps back to April. Then, when he's migrating uncompleted tasks to the next month, he puts a 'right arrow' next to "SEND OUT TAXES" (t=3:09), presumably with intention to move that to May (he'll be late, but organized). AND he doesn't mind making a mistake and then scratching it out (t=3:14). In other words, all very real, all familiar, not slick & polished. I'm pretty darn sure his bullet journal, at the end of the six months, is full of scratched out 'changed my mind' bits. As is mine.
I seriously need a bullet journal, I have so many things I want and need to do, but keep forgetting to do them! Thanks for this video, it was super easy to understand!
Almost in tears. Ok no ugly public crying,. Thank you. I am in my forties. And I am today years old when I learned about bullet journaling. Kill your tasks, plans, goals with kindness. This is kind. Thank you for your kindness.
I just scripted this. Now I'm going to rewrite that script; as if I were going to teach it. 😅. Thank you; once again . I did a tiny bit of adding my own words. This is excellent. I appreciate your time, thoughtfulness; and thoroughness. Bless you, for the order and calmness.
Started mine this week and so far it has helped immensely. I've always had a notebook with stuff written down but never really figured out the simplest answer to the complete randomness of them - The Index, who'da' thunk it? Thanks for this, going to give it a good trial and see if in a few months I am still as happy. I am amazed at how much work some of these other You Tubers put into something that is so simply elegant.
Thank you. You've made it simple. I am a perfectionist who doesn't need to worry about perfection now because this tutorial on how to bullet journal has no extra details or art, plus it gets to the point.
What an easy but powerfull idea! I watched this video a few years ago and thought "what's the hell? why should I use a journal when so many tools are presented in my desktop and smartphone". But after some time I realized digital tools doesn't work for me. I don't know why. And now I get back to a simple old-schoolmethod: simple journal with some ideas from this video and some others.
Started this two months ago. A have a 20 year habit gtd with digital todo systems. But I must say... I really like this. The added ability to gain an overall perspective is just great. Also the physicality appeals to me. I love the very basic methods described here. It’s weird that most people seem to care mostly about how to decorate their bullet journals. I keep mine really simple.
i have to agree with some people in the comments. i love how you just get straight to the point. this has actually helped me a lot with bullet journaling. i am using your videos to help guide me through my first official bullet journal. I've tried to do stuff with color, tape, and other things. although, it just got to overwhelming for me. this minimalistic style is actually very easy for me. i am someone who loves to procrastinate and push things off to a further date. that's how i was when using colors, designs, and all that jazz. thanks to you bullet journaling can actually maybe change my life and make me more organized.
Always find myself coming back here to share the link lol, i'm soon to start my third volume bujo.. One thing to remember though, a bullet journal is a tool, to help you organize, order, sketch, take notes, make charts, literally anything but you have to put the effort to keep it going if you want the long term benefits. My first one is nothing like the second, you adjust the system to your specific needs, now if you don't build on it yourself then it''ll never adjust to you
I've always put off starting a bullet journal because of how they've evolved into something that's meant to be aesthetic and pretty. But having watched your video, I realised that it's really only for organising your life. So I picked up a notebook today and your video helped me a lot to get started!
Love to hear this! There's another recent video about Bullet Journal in Five Minutes that might also give you a clear concrete idea of the basics as well. :)
Wow! The idea is so fascinating! As someone who has an OCD for organisers yet is not good at building systems, this concept really excites me. Cant wait to start!
Definitely going to use this in my classes this year. Handwriting is important: encourages students to slow down and think. Also, the latest research indicates a striking correlation between handwritten notes and memory retention. Can't wait to use this method personally and professionally. Thank you!!!
I love this simple way to keep track of tasks. It doesn't distract or overwhelm, and better yet - it's analog-style, which I enjoy. Thanks for sharing your amazing system with us.
This is what I'm looking for. Very simple and easy to follow. I was overwhelmed by so many fancy bullet journal sharing videos. This is really helpful for a very beginner.I really appreciate it.
Inspite of digital, I like it analog: To write, to turn paper and feel in hands, to note new ideas and find them again and finaly, not to forget and have a good overview. Thank you!
Okay, more of a ‘decorative’ bullet journaler here- I understand both sides of this argument completely. I’ve BEEN on both sides of it to some extent. So I’ll just say this- There isn’t absolutely anything wrong with keeping your journal as plain as Ryder does. The bullet journal system was designed to be a tool that helps you manage your time and tasks more effectively. There’s nothing wrong with solely using it for that purpose. I’m sure that purpose could be freeing for a lot of people. Like a LOT a lot of people. Making them more productive and clear of mind and all those good things. Clearly it HAS done that for at least a few people. Otherwise it wouldn’t be as popular as it is. There ALSO isn’t anything wrong with decorating your journal, if it’s therapeutic for you or you find it fun/relaxing/helpful- literally go for it. I know I love doing it because purely utilitarian style would bore me and I’d stop using it (I’ve got ADHD). I’ve been bullet journaling for about 2 1/2 years now putting ‘pizzazz’ into my monthly set-ups and collection spreads because I enjoy it. It allows me an outlet for my creativity while also letting me get a handle on my shit and keep the train rolling in terms of my personal productivity and time management. BuJo is supposed to be whatever works for the person using the system. While there are certainly wrong ways to bullet journal (the ways that make you more stressed, or anxious, or overwhelmed), the right way relies on who you are, and what works for you. The system, above all, is adaptable. If BuJo is a crafty hobby that brings you joy and nothing more, that’s great! Keep it up. If BuJo is your way of buckling down and getting shit done without the bells and whistles, that’s fantastic. Keep doing you. And if your BuJo falls somewhere in the middle (like mine does), that’s great too. The key is to find a way to make it best work for you, and nothing more.
Yeah idk why people get so upset. If they want to decorate their journal, let them. Who cares, it’s a just a tool! Use it how it best works for you. ✌️
@shah That’s, literally my entire point- homie 😂. I simply pointed out that the system is also an adaptable one, and people can change/switch things around to what works for them depending on what they want out of it. The bullet journal system is one of flexibility, and yet maintaining structure within that flexibility. That way everyone can have their own takes depending on what works for them. So, yes, you’re right- but I just pointed out that for a lot of people (such as myself), there’s a little bit more to it than just that. Edit: I removed a redundant sentence, that’s all 😂
@shah I kind of feel you went into this looking for an argument or a reason to disagree with people. That or you have a difficult time with contractions, though there is nothing wrong with that. Misunderstandings happen, but the line you used “there isn’t absolutely anything wrong with keeping your journal as plain,” specifically states that she backs for opinion. I’ll break it down for you so you can have a better understanding, and why or how to change certain things to help you understand things better in the future. Now, I’m going to start by breaking down the contraction for you. “There is not absolutely anything wrong with keeping your journal as plain.” Now, I can see that in the syntax (which means sentence structure) it is ordered a little confusingly, so we are going to either reorder or take out words that are not necessary to the understanding of the sentence, like absolutely. Now we are left with “There is not anything wrong with letting your journal as plain.” From this, you can see it gets a little easier to understand, as it’s “not anything wrong;” however, it can be simplified to “nothing,” because “not anything”=“nothing.” So now the sentence is “There is nothing wrong with keeping your journal as plain.” Now we can add back our descriptor “There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping our journal as plain as Ryder does.” So, as you can see, she agrees with you, she just also agrees with the notion that you can spend your time decorating it and making it pleasing to the eye as well. Now, there is a chance that you just didn’t take time to read the actual comment and overlooked it, which is understandable, but I just want to make sure that you are going into these kinds of things as educated as possible. So, no hatred of course, but hopefully you’ll be able to apply what I did to help you simplify and ensure you understand what others are saying before looking to make an argument with someone who is on your side- or even in day to day life. Best regards
A bullet journal is one of the best ways to document your journey (Personal and Professional). That helps you to record all the things. It helps us to organize and be productive at the same time. Thanks a lot for the valuable knowledge you shared.
It’s amazing how most bullet journal content just makes it sound like drawing your own traditional planner. Traditional planners never worked for me so I never bothered with giving bullet journaling a try, especially if now I was just gonna have to draw everything by hand. But I finally picked up the book by the creator of the system and it makes so much more sense! I also have ADHD, and I finally feel like this is a system that actually mirrors the way my brain works! Completely non-linear with all the freedom I need to jump around and switch up my interests while also giving a simple way to keep track of where that all is. So glad I actually found the original creator’s work cause it’s so much more than just drawing your own calendar with cute themes and colors
I love journaling, the simplest the better. What essential of journaling for me is the content and how I can allocate my anxiety of future to paper. Suddenly, all the actions I need to do which under spontaneous circumstance is scary (i have social anxiety) becomes easier because i have made decision before and the action is perceived as simply things to get done.
Now *that*'s what I needed. I got somehow attracted to the more popularized version of bullet journal but got discouraged by the amount of work, I didn't even know about the original minimalistic design until today and I already started!
Things I love about this

1. Use any notebook you have laying around
2. Stick with the basics. Don’t modify too much until you got a good handle on bullet journaling
3. Don’t worry about making it pretty. If you have crooked sentences or misspelled words you’re doing it right.
Great advice, many people believe that Boullet journal si about making it pretty but that actually is the last objective
Who's here because they bought a kindle Scribe ?
Why shouldn't I modify it before?
I have a "regular" journal and a bullet journal, and trust me, I've never been so mentally stable and organized. Thank you.
you're pretentious
Tzar yesn't
Aline Laura how tho? This is so overwhelming for me... i wish i could do it..
Genesis Nieves it's not supposed to be overwhelming. It's supposed to be insanely simple. If you're getting caught up in all the complex and artistic bullet journals out there, don't. Stick with the version in this video. It's very useful
Aline Laura can you add your video about both..
Congratulation.
You've done what what other can't do.

Some people think that bullet journaling and creative journaling are the same thing, and they are not. There is so much value in the simplicity of this system.
@@Tony-McGurkcreative journaling can also be a tool depending on the individual. Some people do art as a form of therapy.

Elizabeth Thompson kitty stickers 😂😂😂
Elisa H I guess I made my pont!! :)
I want to know about the bracelets!
Elizabeth Thompson this is the original bullet journal video that started it all!
Somewhere along the line this simple, effortless routine became so complex.

it's irony at its finest. the creative journaling systems that have coopted the name bullet journal, a task management system for people with disorders like adhd, are the exact thing the original Bullet Journal system was made to counteract - over engineered and time consuming task management systems.
i have adhd and the creative aspect is the truly most important bit to me about it. yes, its great for keeping important stuff oraganized and not forgotten, but letting me make it pretty just feeds my soul and is a good outlet for that restless energy that needs something to do (ie doodling in school notebook corners)
Thanks.
you sound so cool, just saying
On the internet, nobody knows you're 75
I think the more we do this, the more the brain gets used to it and perfects it.
Ella Jacobs This is a system for people who are already organized.

Absolutely

Not worth your time when you’ve already thanked them verbally.
on a side note it's pretty funny that a bunch of people on here are complaining about writing down dates as waste of time while they passively watch youtube videos
Difference is we like to watch videos in our free time and not write dates on a planner when we have to do things...
@Adil Zinoune My life is plenty organized with a predone planner (you know, the one that people used before 2015) and I save me the time but thank you. If i'm to do the whole shabang it better look pretty because it isn't efficient.
PsychicMice | my issue is that my writing is terrible and I make lots of mistakes. I always need 3 forms before I get one form filled out right.

@@markofsaltburn out of context. But okay, sweet.
PREACH! I completely agree
Lessons learned:
1. When starting, as Ryder says, go simple. I started with a basic note book and used the symbols system described in this video (dots, dashes and circles). This got me started, and within a matter of weeks, I realised the value of the month log and future log
Its already been lifting a weight off my shoulders, i definitely liked having this simple over view, its what attracted me to the bujo in the first place :)
this is excellent - thank you!!
@@carlytraxler glad it helped 😊
Thank you so much for explaining collections. I did not understand it in the video.
But after reading your explanation…I understood it quickly😊😊😊
I am picky with Notebooks but I was lucky and found a perfect one for me (dots, cream-white paper, dots, round corners, grey...)
Then I followed this Video, step by step and started my first Bullet Journal which worked for me.
Like WhalesInTheClouds said do what works for you... for me I love to do art and doodling and colourful themes and trackers and that helps me while also giving me a creative outlet but another whole idea of bullet journalling is that you don’t have to be amazing at calligraphy or good at art or have neat handwriting because anyone can do it
@Kelli Sees Amen!
So do i.
I feel like people are hating on other's who like colorful spreads, but it makes them happier which will make them more productive.
Do what works!
Yeah, do what works but making a colorful spread is not the point of a journal
@@anthonycruz2785 The point of the journal is to make it into a planner for you and if you want color then it can be colorful.

I love how nearly everybody is saying " too much work" but this became so popular
Lord Voldemort hello lordie!
Lord Voldemort you know what's too much work? those pretentious instagram bujos
I feel called out
Yeah, that post encourage me a lot, I'm reconsidering trying bullet journaling once again after being discouraged by the "aesthetic" aspect playing a huge role in some internet communities.
yep, that post honestly opened my eyes. now im actually interested in bullet journaling
How do you gentrify a personal habit?
This IS the creator of it speaking in this video
My bullet journal is exactly like this in that it’s all handwritten with ONE gel ink pen
I even draw the lines by hand, without a ruler
As a person with perfectionistic tendencies, introducing different coloured inks and art would be my idea of a self-invented hell
On my ninth bullet journal now
It’s been a liberating practice!
True that
It takes some time to understand, but this method proved to be extremely useful for me.📖

What is collection used for?i m asking cause I don't get it and you seem to understand it
what takes no time to understand? turning on a faucet? flushing a toilet? drinking a glass of water? Even coffee can be made wrong without too much trouble....
It's strange, I get it but at the same time I don't...
Rapid Logging is the style of writing down notes really fast. It's just what it sounds like-rapid, logging. The Daily Log is a section in the book.
It should make sense but it was explained oddly and you could nearly read what he wrote
He says (after the index), "Turn to your next blank spread", but then he goes and skips over TWO more blank spreads.
This has helped me A LOT as a person with ADHD. Sure, I do forget about it sometimes and I'm still working on trying to be a bit more consistent with it,
but it does help with my overall productivity and ability to remember important things, To-Do lists, ideas and brain farts.
It gives me somewhere to drop things into at any point in the day that is organized enough for my brain to not have to think about too much.
Side note: I realized how small your handwriting is compared to mine. I can't seem to fit those boxes with my cursive handwriting,
I occupy more space so it doesn't look like a squiggly mess lol.
How do you come back to it? I feel like I should start setting reminders to sit down and do it LOL
it's a process.... you get better over time, not perfect.....
I also have a lot of problems with remembering things and getting distracted and procrastination, so I'll try it out
I was just about to search if this works for people with ADHD!

Years later, and I'm still referring back to this intro video when I kickstart my bujo practice. Thanks for keeping it simple, and sharing your techniques
Mastery of the fundamentals is greatness

I, too, wish I knew then what I have learned now!
I love coming back to this video, to remind myself that I don't have to do anything fancy. It reminds me why I even started with bullet journaling!
Best most effective method I’ve used in getting organized and not missing a thing. I wish I started sooner
A Collection is collecting everything related to one thing into one page.
Just finished my first Bullet Journal and preparing my second one. Awesome system. Minimalistic method that streamlined my thoughts, tasks, appointments and projects. Very flexible to individual user and project needs.
Five years later I come back to review the genius behind the basics. Thanks for sharing this brilliant concept.
Today I came back to get the original inspiration back
Right? How is owning different coloured pens and writing shitty calligraphy titles going to help your organisation?
Thank you
Same.
But it depends a lot on what your work is and what your goals and tasks are :)

it's cool seeing this after watching so many bullet journal videos from other youtubers. much more aesthetic and creative and versatile but it's interesting to see that it started out like this.
Some of us are not able to be as rigid as is required to maintain such a system, so we have to adapt it's best methods to ourselves; and not ourselves to it.
who told you not to. I didn't and I'm doing fine. You can't use someone elses system, but you can create your own? What do you think this guy did?

Thx for the video!♥
Bro this is so much better than the other guides on the internet that have you drawing all sorts of crap in the journal. Thank you for this!
I had no idea the inventor of the bullet journal was male. Everyone I've seen make use of them are female, super interesting! I like the simplicity of this one.
He's got a voice that is attractive to millennial women.
Just shows how social media can deceive people into seeing bullet journalling as a feminine thing when really it is for everyone to organise their lives and plan
me too, at the beginning I think the writer is female.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This has changed my life over the past 2 years.
this is so much simpler than all the fancy stuff all the youtubers are doing...thank you for inventing this!
Thank you, Ryder. I keep coming back to the original format that you created. It is so helpful.
IM SO HAPPY THERE IS A PERSON WE CAN CREDIT THIS AMAZING METHOD TO!!!
Somehow, this video was just long enough that I was only starting to get overwhelmed... And then it ended. This is a very well executed explanation.
There is something so therapeutic about this Video
I appreciate how easy it is to pay attention to your videos - short and to the point. Pleasantly surprised. Thank you.
Wow! The idea is so fascinating!
As someone who has an OCD for organisers yet is not good at building systems, this concept really excites me. Cant wait to start!
Sarah Haidar hello, please do not use OCD as an adjective if you don't actually have it. thank you!
your comment gave me cancer
@ karen yt. I think she was using OCD as a noun.
Martin Cleary lol. why do i suck at basic grammar?? thanks my guy
karen yt :)
Definitely going to use this in my classes this year. Handwriting is important: encourages students to slow down and think. Also, the latest research indicates a striking correlation between handwritten notes and memory retention. Can't wait to use this method personally and professionally. Thank you!!!
Who is watching this vid this new year? 🙋🏻
Excited for my first one.
yas old school rules!
Mee
I just started mine on Jan 4th 2019. Helping me so far and I am just starting to scratch the surface of the concept. Good luck!
Lotte yesssssss
I’m just starting my first bullet journal and I’m trying things out to see what system I like. Having a blast honestly
I'm five months late😂
I love this simple way to keep track of tasks. It doesn't distract or overwhelm, and better yet - it's analog-style, which I enjoy. Thanks for sharing your amazing system with us.
This is what I'm looking for. Very simple and easy to follow. I was overwhelmed by so many fancy bullet journal sharing videos. This is really helpful for a very beginner.I really appreciate it.
Inspite of digital, I like it analog: To write, to turn paper and feel in hands, to note new ideas and find them again and finaly, not to forget and have a good overview. Thank you!
"A group of pugs is called a grumble"
wat
Hmmm neat
& a group of pigs called a ......... "grimple" which actually sounds cool.
Okay, more of a ‘decorative’ bullet journaler here-
I understand both sides of this argument completely. I’ve BEEN on both sides of it to some extent. So I’ll just say this-
There isn’t absolutely anything wrong with keeping your journal as plain as Ryder does.
“There is not absolutely anything wrong with keeping your journal as plain.”
Now, I can see that in the syntax (which means sentence structure) it is ordered a little confusingly, so we are going to either reorder or take out words that are not necessary to the understanding of the sentence, like absolutely.
Now we are left with “There is not anything wrong with letting your journal as plain.”
From this, you can see it gets a little easier to understand, as it’s “not anything wrong;” however, it can be simplified to “nothing,” because “not anything”=“nothing.”
So now the sentence is “There is nothing wrong with keeping your journal as plain.”
Now we can add back our descriptor “There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping our journal as plain as Ryder does.”
So, as you can see, she agrees with you, she just also agrees with the notion that you can spend your time decorating it and making it pleasing to the eye as well.
@@tatianatyler9975 😂 thank you!
Correct :) I'm glad you found us too
This method changed mylife! Even though it became overwhelming to keep track of so many collections, I finally made it my own!! Thank you
This has improved my life immensely.
I love my bullet journal. I got the real one to support your channel. I really appreciate all the ideas.
Now *that*'s what I needed. I got somehow attracted to the more popularized version of bullet journal but got discouraged by the amount of work, I didn't even know about the original minimalistic design until today and I already started!
