But infinite scrolling brought me here
thank you :)
I know right…
No disrespect, but you look 16.
@@IvyPlanswhat valuable things did it give to you or to others making this kind of comment?
😂😂😂
Thanks. I am 65years old. I am beginning with my first journal and I really like your format. I am coping it right now.
Do not worry if you did not started at 20 I am beginning at my age! Thanks kid!
i am beginning at my age too … youngsters these days are so creative! i have to catch up 😉
You are just 65, you have many more years to improve knowledge and transmit them to young generation ❤
With an eagerness like yours, you're bound to have many, many, many years ahead and many, many, many journals ahead. :)
I would love to read yours someday if possible ~ a fellow internet friend
So good to see your comment! I am 18 and starting today :) Wishing you luck and good health Sir! ❤
I started Journaling when I was 14 and that was 51 years ago. I did not have access to any fancy book for that very first journal but instead I made my own book out of scrap paper, string and the covers are cardboard covered with magazine clippings of birds, glued on with rubber cement. That journal is still intact 51 years later! Along with 30 or so from over the years. My children want me to save so they can read one day, but I think I will redact some things. I suggest to everyone to think about how you want to handle privacy, confidentiality and other people's feelings. If you leave out specific names when writing about sensitive topics that makes Journaling just as productive and removes some of the risks involved. You will know who the person is, but it remains anonymous to future readers.
Wow! thanks for sharing. I've thought about the privacy thing too and I think maybe I'll just go back and redact it one day if I think someone will read it haha
This is the best Journaling video I’ve seen. It really encapsulates the quote “Know thyself”. You’re not just jotting to-do lists or goals for the year, you’re examining yourself and instructing yourself on how to progress
My stepdad used to work at Leuchtturm and he often came home with slightly damaged journals. In the end we had two big boxes full of them. Made great presents for everyone we knew :)
that's so cool!!
I work at a bookshop where we also sell the Leuchtturm notebooks and every year we sort out the 'old colours' that people don't buy anymore and we can take them home :)
@@reysu as a German who also loves those notebooks, I found it really funny how you pronounced the name x) It's like Loi-heet toorm (in German, eu makes a oi sound, and ch is often like a hiss). It's the word for lighthouse, so you can easily check out the pronunciation on any translator ;)
Do you have anymore??
The only reason I like to journal is to make my life a story, I'm 16 and it pains me to think that most of what I'm feeling right now or what I'm experiencing now might be forgotten. That's why I want to write more about myself, so I can revisit it later. This all started when encountered a journal of mine when I was 7; I drew comics, and princesses, and shared childish things, but that ignited my passion for journaling. Thank you, I haven't written anything in my journal as school was getting more difficult, but you've made me passionate about it again. Thank you.
Don't you are on holiday rn ?
I'm 16 too
I like to think of life as a series of beautiful poems.
same dude! i also like to write in my journal like my life a novel or smh, lol ^^
I started mines when i was 14 i think, same reason but actually i can't read them yet haha i cringe so much but anyway I'm keeping them, maybe when i hit 30 i could read the first ones, maybe when I'm older i would burn them off with me in my death bed idk yet
@@sasha8007 oh but I think that is wonderful, even if they're cringe; it's something you've written, and that holds value! I'm jealous of you tbh hahah
So nice to see someone that has set up a system and has used it for years! So many people like to show your their “set up”, but never use it
good point, this is actually very important. because most of the video we were watching content creators say things that they don't believe and use it just for content
@@emrekaramtrue!
I'm 17 and I used to watch a lot of bullet journal youtubers with their neat format, plans, doodles etc. and tried to copy their style or write along, but my enthusiasm usually wouldn't last over 2 months, which caused me to have quite a few abandoned journals. Your video is really inspiring, especially for me as a high schooler, since I don't have that much time to pour onto the aesthetics of the journal, but what you do already catches the "essence" of jounaling (imo). So thanks! I'll give your method a try and look forward to continuing this habit!
So... you still doing it?
How is it going for you
i am also 17
Incredible. Ive been struggling for over 5+ years on how to journal with no fiction that's meaningful and productive. Thank you.
We found my wife's grandfathers journals after he passed away, and it was so fascinating seeing what he was thinking about and going through, and tracking. It made almost everyone in the house that day consider starting to journal. I tried using an app as well, but found I had the same issues as you. I might give this a try. 😊
On a side note you're going to hit 100k so fast, it won't even be funny. haha These videos are so good.
I just recently started making a habit out of journaling. This method really seems to allow for flexibility with the process, while still leaving room to be creative. Definitely trying this!
This is the best journaling video in my opinion because everything is taught so simply and so well without adding in too much stuff or stickers or a beautiful handwriting. Usefullness over aesthetic is what is needed when someone wants to do stuff for real :D
Thank you so much for this video, it changed my life.
I have been journalling for like 14 years and words are simply not enough how much this thing helps me to keep my life organised which helps me devote time for myself. Thanks for creating these videos and keeping people like us motivated...😉
This video is gold man. Journaling is so beautiful. I cry everytime I look back at my old journals. You are beautiful, stay blessed.
This is an excellent tutorial on journaling. I have been doing this for decades. But I am a writer and a visual artist so journaling for me is also a creative piece of art that I am constantly working on. I love all of your self made charts and hands off approach to it all. Well done young man!
Subscribe for some new vids :)
this method which you shared.. feels like magical.. i've tried many apps and writing on pages as well.. but always struggled to arrange them in the right way. excited to give this a shot. tuanks
I really liked this idea, so hands-on and different from all else I've seen. Definitely gonna try it out, thx :)
I absolutely love this! and will start journaling like this starting next month (feb 2024) , since the beginning of this year I started carrying pocketNotebooks (made them my self) those help me to write down my thoughts aswel and keeps me from doomscrolling again and again. thanks for sharing this way of journaling :)
This is actually the best and most accessible journaling method I’ve found. I’ve always struggled with pre-structured planners, just doing it your way seems so much easier! Thank you!
Just gotta say I've been watching the occasional journaling video on youtube for months now and this is the best one by far. Practical, simple, and elegant. This seems easy enough to start doing right away and still very comprehensive at the same time. Thank you for this
U still doing it?
Love your casual and easy approach, feels very coherent and natural. Definitely one of the best journal vids.
Thanks for the very helpful video. I have been watching elaborate planners and their layouts only to find your simple method covers all I want to track in a straightforward way.
thank you for sharing this with us !
That's the best journal method. I'm trying to start tracking my time and put a routine you know just get my life together! And i always feel lazy when it comes to Journaling because people always say it's about you talking about your day or writing about specific events and venting and it made me feel not interested.
But here i am motivated because you made me feel like it's about joy ! Its about me doing in my own way ! It's my journal not theirs.
❤
I have used a habit tracker sheet for the past 2 months and love the idea of using a journal in same way. Great video. I've been watching "how to journal" videos all day and this is the first one that has made me actually write a comment. Well done!
Whoa. Thank you for sharing this, this might be my favorite video of yours, i love how this method of journaling isn’t forced, but still holds you accountable for your goals. Im 19 and im def gonna try this to (as you’d say) “optimize my life”✍️
Btw ur a rlylyy good drawer
thank you!! You got this, let me know what you think of it :)
This video inspired me to buy a journal and start writing. I appreciate your simple and manageable layout, thank you for taking the time to create this type of content. Keep up the good work!
I recently came to the same conclusion about digital methods of journalling. It feels so good to write things in a notebook that it will be easy to access in the future anytime I want to look at it. Digital calendars and notebooks became so frustrating to me. I like your habit tracker system!
This is such a cool journaling system. I made one today and it's so exciting. I think the game-like aspects really help in making it feel like a competition with yourself to leave a good record to look back on. Thank you so much man, this is an inspired design!!
Journalling literally pulled me back from the brinks of depression and turn my life around a couple of times. Its so fascinating and satisfying to see your own progress, your thoughts, and something even more surprising is seeing how your beliefs change over time, how you can turn your own thoughts about a particular topic completely over a span of time.
While I only do it a few times a month, and I write it more like a story or a thought, writing it all on multiple pages at a time, it is inspiring to see some other ways as you mantioned. I'll definitely be trying out some of your ideas and see if it leads me to explore myself in a different area altogether. Thanks
Time blocking is an awesome technique. I’ve found I keep coming back to this as most effective approach. You just have to keep applying the discipline.
This is almost exactly how I journall and have journalled for the past few years. Im so happy to find a creator who has similar goals in terms of journals in mind!
I want to do this because I have too many notebooks and journals/ loose to do lists.
But I write 1+ pages every morning
I currently use a planner for all he mentions (tracking, to-dos, goals) but a notebook for "journaling".
I don't see how this would take the place of being able to quickly look ahead to future months, like a planner allows.
I want to refine my systems, but I don't know how to get away from 3 separate books: workout journal, writing journal, planner ... 🤔
it was so nice to see your journal I also like looking back! it’s not even on purpose sometimes but I came across an old wish list/ prayer list and I realized I was able to cross off 5 things and there was about 6 or 7 desires, you don’t even realize you’ve met your goals or prayers have been answered until you look back 😇
Tracking metrics is the most interesting part of this to me. I will start journaling tomorrow. Thanks!
This was such a good video! I think I'll pick up my notebook again now and use it for a while. It's so easy to fall into the trap of trying to find that one perfect app to manage and optimise your life. Sometimes it's better to just use a simple notebook instead!
This is the best journal format I have ever seen on thank you so much !
1:13 this makes me very happy hearing you recommend this brand since I have been on the fence of getting this notebook myself since I want to journal as well. Thank you I will be buying one soon
Nice work, Reysu! I really like this journaling format for saving core memories, tracking life's metrics, and documenting goals. I will be giving this a go myself.
I really love your comment about not having to jot every day and it more being a space to put all of your thoughts into.
Thanks bro this helps a lot. I was being really consistant for a while but then i suddenly stopped and your idea of an analog Journal motivated and gave me like the kick i needed to do it again thanks!
I love your way of journaling! So simple and minimalistic. My biggest issue when it comes to staying consistent is trying to make it some big thing that I have to take time to sit down and do but starting smaller like this and only expanding greater when I feel the need or want to make so much more sense. my notebook just came in and I'm starting it now, thanks!
This is SO useful! I’ve started using a journal for daily to do lists but haven’t found the habit tracker fits in with my needs and routine. Will definitely start this, thanks for the great video!
This is one of the best videos I have seen on journaling. I have attempted to before but haven't stuck with it. I will try using this method thank you.
Thankyou reysu i truly respect you effort towards making this video and changing lives of people like mee idk how to thankyou enough.....this is something what i need rn in my life can't thank you enough dudee!!❤
Your monthly spread is powerful! I love how it’s simple like Ryder Carroll’s monthly spread, but captures so much more. I may give this a try!
Does it capture more?? The monthly spread seems to be the only thing that’s exactly the same as the bullet journal except he records daily highlights instead of using it to plan things like upcoming meetings or events
@@powerpuff4everyes, the metrics and habits are not part of Ryder’s original example, which I quickly abandoned because it didn’t bring value like his daily log. The addition of the metrics and habit tracker to the monthly log turns it into something that I find value in adapting.
I can see how you wouldn’t find the video creator’s version to be an improvement if you are loyal to the original (although I question whether anyone other than Ryder is loyal to the original) or prefer to keep your metrics and habit tracking spreads on separate pages. For me, I want to see the relationship between my events, daily highlights, habits, and metrics. If I spread those things out across the monthly log, daily log, and a habit / metric tracker spread, I can’t efficiently spot the patterns.
The best bullet journal i've seen! Thanks!!!
I love this! I'm going to start journaling this year. I used to just write but wanted to try something different. I like your system, thanks for sharing. 😊
I love how flexible, yet simple that is. I gotta try this
A journal style for minimalists. Love this and will use these ideas!!! Thanks for sharing.
You have inspired me. Starting this today. Great video keep them coming.
Great Video, thanks for the insight! I really like the monthly-page-system, it does make habit tracking quite simple and transparent by having it all on one page. Will definitely try!
I’m gonna try this! So helpful for ppl like me who get overwhelmed easily thank you so much.
I started journaling when I was 14 or 15. Now I'm 21. It's wild to look back even one year back as my thoughts constantly change. Over the years I've stopped just capturing my thoughts in the moment, but also realizations, lessons I've learned, people I've met, things that inspire me and so on. I've realized I will want to know who I was when I'm older to see how I've changed because memory can't be trusted 100%. I've also started adding titles to my entries next to the date so I have a general idea of the topic from that entry.
This is the most amazing way of using a journal, thank you
Happy to see youtube still has quality content like this
I love this video. I use very similar methods but I split them across my work notebook and my personal journal. I do the Monthly 2 pager with dates for my work journal, list out goals/projects for the month/etc. but my personal journal is basically completely free form with only writing and sketching. The monthly 2-pager feels very "work mode" for me as a result, but I love the idea of bringing this into my personal journalling habit to capture memorable moments, habits, etc. I've been journalling relatively consistently for the past 13 years, and it is very interesting to go back occasionally to revisit the past. It is almost as interesting to revisit the periods of great change as it is to check in on the mundane. With the benefit of space and time, I have found that revisiting challenging periods to see the raw struggle or pain as expressed in the moment has actually given me greater resilience and confidence. Seeing the raw pain and then knowing I got through it is a helpful reminder that so far, I always come out the other side of a challenge stronger, having grown as a person. The flipside is revisiting those more mundane days. Frequently those have wonderful little nuggets that remind me just how good I have it most of the time. Journalling regularly has helped me cherish the mundane more, and fear the challenges less.
Inspired me to start, loving the format, seen similar on tik tok with colours before but this is simple and doable i love it.
By far the best guide for beginners jumping into bullet journaling.
Been wanting to do journaling forever… this is the simplest most easily plug and play system I’ve found so far. Starting!
Nice. I've seen some systems where you write monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals. That might be complicated for those who are just starting to track their life. One page per month keeps it simple. Subscribed!
Subscribed!!! I have been watching bunch of journaling videos from youtubers with 100k to millions of subscribers but you covered this topic the best! I’d say the BEST! Thanks.
thank you so much!!
Thanks for sharing! It's super interesting to see your methods in action. I can totally relate to wanting to physically write things down on paper as opposed to only tracking things digitally.
Can not wait for february to start to try out this system!
This is such a neat and effective way to journal! It resonates with me far more than all those cute, scrapbook-looking journals.
This is gold man. Thank you for sharing.
I used to do bujo designs like those aesthetic yt videos every month which of course made me burn out and made me feel chained. That's why this year I'm finally doing it all simple by just using a normal pen and one colored pen for highlighting, so far I've been enjoying it a lot
This is the video i needed. I am trying to fix many aspects of my life and improve myself steadily for the better. For the past couple of days i was searching for apps that could help me keep track of everything but nothing seems to fit into my interests. I realised that i need not to rely on my phone or laptop to improve myself, after all its one of goals; to have minimum amount of screen time possible (knowing me well, a procrastination queen, this was important for me). I always maintained a bunch of journals from 6th grade. now 21 still writing and i love it. But i think i needed this video to remind me to stick with what has always worked for me. Thank you so much.
Love the video bro. You put into words and on paper what has been in my mind but couldn’t pinpoint what it is I wanted.
Love your journal and it's the closest Journaling method to mine that I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing :-)
Oh my goodness this was SO helpful thank you Reysu! I cant wait to implement this
Glad it was helpful!
I love your life tracker system. Such a great idea. I will definitely be using this idea. Thank you so much and I hope to see more videos like this
I used to journal a lot but it felt more like a chore than using it as a valuable tool for me to look back on. After watching this video, I think I'll take up journaling again!
I love the idea of making a one-pager to capture key takeaways from a book!
This is so simple! I think I can actually implement this!!!! I'm gonna start and make one of these in my planner tonight
Best and most practical tips I've ever came across. Loved it. Thanks :)
In my bullet journal, I have letters for tracking and planning my life, which is an extension of what you're doing:
[A] something I achieved (e.g. washed dishes)
[L] something I learned (e.g. using focus of my camera)
[G] something I'm grateful for (e.g. the time to learn stuff)
[P] something I'm proud of myself for (e.g. a photo that looks nice)
□ something that happened (e.g. made tortillas for dinner; got up late); there are usually multiple of these
○ an appointment/meeting etc
And of course the bullet points and associated symbols for classic bullet journaling.
Anything that influenced my feelings I color green for positive influence or red for negative influence.
On the left side of my page, I have the following system: the left third is taken up by a line graph for my mood, sleep, stress level etc with each day taking up one row and 0 being on the left and 10 on the right. This is inspired by Elsa Rhae's setup and the thought behind it is that you can put the months side by side by pushing the page towards the middle, but that has become irrelevant since I moved to OneNote for journalling.
To the right of the graph, I have a habit tracker, just like yours and to its right, the date and day of the week is written. In the right third of the left page, I have a rolling weekly for my week's to-dos that I rarely use, but I don't need the space so it's nice to have a free spot.
I also use the Year in Pixels app for its intended purpose and additionally, I use its notes function for a more detailed account of what I did each day (in terms of work, I need that as I'm a trainee). It can look like this: "got up at 11:35 | breakfast | work: thing1\thing{thing I did inbetween}2\thing3 | cooked (spaghetti with cheese sauce)\ate | ...".
This actually has really come in useful: I tend to forget what I did, so it's useful for mindfulness. It has also come in clutch when I needed to refer back to something, like what I did on a day at school, when something significant happened (the bullet journal is also useful for that) and more. The whole tracking aspect with the gratitude, achievements etc also really helps me reflect and have a less negatively tinted view of myself and the world around me. Being able to see at a glance using colors what made me happy and what made me sad/frustrated is the most recent addition, but it's been great so far. It really helps me be more mindful of this stuff.
The sum of all this has really helped me clear up the fog: a few years ago, I had a bit of a breakdown because I felt like all the newly created past disappeared into a fog of trauma and suppression while all the future was foggy and undirected. It really made me feel like a passenger in my life with every memory being taken away as it was created. Journaling has helped me gain control of my memories. It started as a mere memory support with clues and no real data, and those old entries still serve me, and it evolved to become increasingly detailed. Now, I can draw a line back all the way until fall 2018 and each day along that line, I can populate with what I did. No gaps, no "where did the year go?". Throughout that process of populating the dates with memories, my journal entries are a great help, and the process of creating them in the first place already serves me, it makes recalling what happened a conscious act, so the things I recall are solidified, instead of disappearing in fog. I finally feel like the captain of my ship again and that is a gift of immeasurable value.
I will have to incorporate some of this!
thank you for sharing, especially the rationale behind your system. I def have felt the same way re memories sometimes. Will incorporate some of these into my journaling workflow!
love the habit tracker as well as doing individual entries ❤ I’ve been journaling as long as I can remember
appreciate it 🙏
how can ~350 people dislike this??
it's such a good journaling method, will try this for march! thank you
i loveee your messy journal ❤❤
Thank you so much , you have saved me plenty of time, I will definitely start applying this method.
impressed by your jounal idea man i was wrting the journal in the boring way all time definetily going to track your minds.
I like that there’s only a line for each day, it makes it so much less overwhelming. Especially since my husband and I had a baby. She learns something new thing each day or cuts a new tooth etc. And I’m always kicking myself for not chronicling it. Also the habits thing is so visual I love it. Thanks for this and the recommendation!
I like the freedom of your journal. Make it what you want and it will reflect who you are in that moment of time.
This is the best method of journalising I ever found , thanks alot for making this kind of contant .
Wonderful! Lovely to see what you are doing! Different from all the other journaling videos! Inspirational! Thanks!
Such a blessing to find about this one on the first day of the month, what a great video!
ive been with a little journal for a couple weeks already and i was struggling in my organisation. this is exactly what i needed, thanks for the vid its really nice
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching I will make another vid going a little bit more in depth soon
You deserve a like buddy, and you just got yourself a new sub. Very underrated video not only for journaling but self-improvement in general
thank you so much!
this is really cool! thank you for the insights! this is the best journaling video i've seen!!
thanks for this video! 😊 i ordered a journal for myself and one for my girlfriend for her birthday. we have both been feeling very down recently due to the repetitions, struggles, and patterns of life, and i decided this could be the thing to break that cycle! so excited to see where we both take journaling and how it could help!
Wow, you just keep pumping out high-quality videos. Thanks, Reysu.
thank you!
woww this is amazing , i think this is the best way to journaling , but this is too good.
Got my journal and going to try this!
Thank you. Very informative: honest and straight forward about help. A Lost Art. So appreciate Lisa
Thank you so much for this video, I would practice daily journaling using this proces.
That is absolutely my favorite journal- the grid.
Love this! I feel like I could do journaling this way!
I feel more productive watching this.
Will start a journal now.
It's about time
The tracking of habits, highlight of days, and goals you mentioned at the beginning of the video reminded me of how I use my Lavendaire "Artist of Life Workbook." It also helps with life planning for the year, with reflection, commitments to growth, and goal setting (broken down into year, quarter, month, and days). A super holistic workbook that I would recommend, but as you explained how you journal as your goals change and how you document in graphs and pictures was really neat! I journal each night but it's only with words on regular lined paper. I may want to start incorporating how you really capture moments, especially fun milestones like recapping a book you finished. This is a great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this! Loved this way of journaling.
Wow! That's amazing. Thanks for sharing. I have to try this out👌
