I've recently become interested in starting a bullet journal, and I've watched a few starter videos. Yours has so far been the clearest and most instructive of them. I am not very artistic or creative, so your minimal approach really suits me well. Your video is exactly what I was looking for, so thank you!

Hi :) When I started i was also overwhelmed by all those fancy styles. What I did was just search in Instagram and Pinterest for monimalistic bulletjournaling. You will find great spreads there that are just functional. Also the official website, bulletjournal.com , has the easiest spreads. Example: A monthly overview is just all the dates written down as a list. Nothing more. They also have a youtube channel, so maybe check that out!

    • @YeshuaKingMessiah
      @YeshuaKingMessiah 3 роки тому +7

      Her approach is quite artistic
I will never fit all that info in the tiny space she allots. I can’t write like a typewriter-and I have nice handwriting lol
Ah well I ll keep on with my dumps and trying to make lists from them and trying to schedule them. Life is way more messy than this gorgeous journal in the vid. I love every one of my messes tho. Ages 15 to 3, all homeschooled.

Ryder Carroll invented this system to work with his ADHD brain! I highly recommend watching his video and the book is great too. The beauty is you can make it work for you. If you get bored with it, change it up. Forget to do it for a while? Flip the page and start again. Get curious about why a task was not completed. Did it need to be broken down into a smaller task? Is it not important or relevant anymore? Good luck!

Lol, I think the media and internet is largely responsible for that and it's getting out of control. For example, every news channel or social media story (or commenter) tells you what you should be mad about everyday. That's where the gratitude journal comes in, I guess.

@@skywalker6648 very true. It's the main reason why I take weeks or months off social media at a time. It's also why I love this channel so much- no matter what's going on around me, I can also count on Sadia to calm me down with her peaceful videos, and remind that there's still so much goodness to be thankful for. THE BEST B.j 'how to' video I've seen! I went through several others before finding this one, and stopped after 2-3 minutes of them doodling their names on the front cover. In this one, she goes step-by-step, moves quickly but efficiently through the process and keeps it simple. I'm a business-owner-entrepreneur-mom, who doesn't have time for all the cutesy art work that so many others were doing and almost gave up on the process but this was a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing instructional. I tried bullet journaling at the beginning of last year, and quickly got frustrated by it not looking as beautiful and perfectly laid-out as most of the examples I could find online - I'm not much of an artist, and seeing all of those 'perfect' journals with gorgeous illustrations and not a single drop of ink out of place was frankly depressing and I quickly lost my motivation to try to keep up with the journal.
But this, like most of your videos, really cuts the concept down to easier, more achievable steps and has wonderful focus on not trying to make it 'perfect'. After watching, I went and dug out my old bullet journal, removed the few pages I filled out from last year, and followed your ideas for the layout (personalizing by switching a few pages around and adding a few I feel will benefit my lifestyle more.)
Thank you so much for another lovely and inspirational video!

The creator of the bullet journal has quite a minimalist approach. If there is a desire to be creative though how about just one monthly creative page (like doodles, sketch, drawn or printed art)? Perhaps that'd satisfy your creativity but make things less daunting? :)

Well, didn't manage to keep up doing all the pretty spreads for more than 5 weeks- I gave up. I felt so much pressure to maintain the aesthetic of my bujo, rather than to actually update my bujo with tasks.

For several years now I have wanted and attempted to start a bullet journal. I’d buy a few supplies here and there, I’d sketch page ideas on notebook paper, but somehow, when it came time to start, I never felt my journal was good enough. I know that thought is just silly. I know my bullet journal/planner is only for me, but when I look at all those beautiful Pinterest worthy pages others have posted, I feel I’m just too far lacking in artistry and creativity to continue and I quit before I really ever even got started. Today, however, something changed. I watched your video about starting a minimalist journal and I really enjoyed it. It inspired me to start again and since I’m now divorced, have a child away at college and one who spends a week at at a time with his father, I have way too much free time. I do a month at a glance, a tiny list of goals for the month, and my monthly meditation log which I also have another huge journal for as it covers many years. Then I do my week at a glance. That's it. Since it is a new year I will probably do a year at a glance and I might include Level 10 goals and chart as that always wakes me up! I really resonated with your description of feeling scatterbrained and having notes on random pieces of paper and digital notes all over the place. I have tried a journal for the last few years but there hasn't been much of a system and it just became a rolling to-do list scattered with random thoughts. I went through and setup a bullet journal for the month of may and it sounds crazy but I already notice a huge difference. Also I didn't understand the brain dump at first and thought it probably wasn't for me but now I'm wondering how I even functioned without putting all these random thoughts onto paper. Almost knowing that i have a place to put these thoughts has brought a lot of them bubbling to the surface.Thank you so so much for sharing!

At the bottom I write down things that I'm thinking of buying in the future or things I'm saving for like a vacation or dishwasher and the debt I'm working on paying off. This is how I figured out what bills I have every month and how much they are! ☺️ And I finally got a handle on spending and saving after years of struggle.

I've gone back and forth on my productivity tracking, and finally decided on an A5 3-ring binder with my own created pages, but I have to admit I miss the simplicity (and lack of bulk) in an A5 journal. :D I just didn't like it because my OCD would kick in when pages weren't in the right order.

I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate an hourly agenda, since that's what has been keeping me somewhat organized during this quarantine (and I realized I should keep a journal rather than my stack of dozens of sheets of printer paper w/notes). Your way works great, still gives plenty of room for to-do tracking/notes, and the agenda. And your "minimal" is already much more than I had started off doing. 2020 hasn't gone the way any of us anticipated or wanted it to, but I'm trying to reclaim some control. Thanks!.

I'm getting back into my BUJO and I literally looked up minimalist BUJO and your video is PERFECT. I used mine for quite a while until I was out of work and then found I didn't have enough to fill it. If you want to add a little "fun" without getting overwhelmed with artistry, just use a different color pen for each month. I finally realized what satisfied my creative itch, but didn't get me overwhelmed was picking two colors for each month.
What I was struggling with was the layouts. I really like these layouts a lot. They are simple, to-the-point and cover pretty much everything I'm looking to cover. I like setting aside that time each week/month to set up the layout and do the review/retrospective of the week.
    Thank you!

I love this, starting my first Bullet Journal and I was getting overwhelmed with how to start and what to do, but you really demonstrate and easy way to start, thank you!

I feel like I just went to therapy watching this video...
Hearing you organize and evaluate your life so simply and broadly made me see my life in such a way, and I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders!

I've found the most success using a bullet journal without the actual bullet journal system. Because then I'll feel like I keep repeating the same tasks that needs to move over.
But the concept is great and I've been using it for on and off 2 years. Definitely helped track my progress when I wasn't working a 9-5 (it can sometimes feel defeating since there's no set schedules and validation from manager/coworkers/etc.) Also, it's wonderful to look back on the different stages of life!

Ive watched many bullet journal videos and yours is the most understandable and fun. Minimal and straightforward. Others are too overwhelming for me.

Finally, a bullet journal that is simple! While the others look pretty, this is more user friendly, especially if you don’t have an artistic bone in your body! Lol Thanks for showing how you do this. Seriously going to give this a go.
    Happy new year!

Finally joining the bullet journal train. It's been quite overwhelming with all the ideas out there, but your video was so helpful. The recommendations are simple yet impactful. It has just what I need. I also really appreciate the reminder that this is to build awareness, not to judge ourselves. I feel at ease now to get into my journaling. Thank you for putting this together!

I have watched several videos about starting a bullet journal, and yours is the first to show the details of setting up each page. Thank you... well done!

I have a fairly similar system, in three separate journals... I carry around my brain filter journal everywhere! I have a 2020 calendar for those weekly tasks, and a budget journal. It keeps me organized... oddly enough.

Love this take on bullet journaling. Forget whiteout - I now can't live without the Pilot Frixion erasable gel pens. No, I'm not getting paid to name them, but yes, I said ERASABLE! Game changer!

I had been looking for yearly calendars; I had no idea this was even a option. So thank you for popping up on my feed. Although I looked at a few other bullet journal DIYs, I'm in love with the way you did yours and I literally copied down almost everything you did. Thank you for sharing this.
