You make it look so easy. When I bought my Lincoln 210 multiprocess, it came with a spool gun and I had never welded aluminum before. I don't have much practical use for welding aluminum but it's awesome to have the capability. But even on 110v it's super easy to burn through, even on material as thick as 1/8 in.
Practice does make it easier. No different than golf or anything new 😎 Keep up the good work!!! Spool guns are difficult even for me. It seems like you have to keep adjusting to get it right and then you come back and it’s off again. The game of spool guns 😂
I can't believe I'm just finding alum vids with the transsteel now, I've watched so many vids of htp and everlast (trying not to go spoolgun for my miller) and was convinced welding alum with a normal gun was a gimmick. All these pulse and double pulse machine produce the worst results. I need a Fronius.
Mike Quas That’s awesome! I’m just now starting TransSteel 2700 videos. When you get your machine send me an email with your info and serial number and I’ll get you a T-shirt - Bliven.Christopher@fronius.com
@@chris_b_liven excellent, it's supposed to arrive today. I'm gonna stop and pick up what I need to run a 220v circuit to my bench on my way home today.
Bruce D Yes you can use the stitch timer but it’s not as smooth as it is with Steel or Stainless. Sometimes the arc starts are a little off but it does work
Well your video worked I watched it and bought a TransSteel 2200 . Welding steel it makes me look like a pro . Aluminum is a different story I got a tank of argon last week and extra tips and tried to set my welder to the same setting as in this video but when I try to turn the voltage down the wire speed goes down also . So what do i need to do ?
Reeds Repair and Fab Yeah it’s pretty impressive machine for the amount of wire possibilities you can choose from on the faceplate. Maybe stainless on the next video 👌
Great video, was wondering what drive roller and liner you are running with the. 047 wire? Looking to order and a bit confused on liner and drive roller options from them. I only see up to 045. Would like to run 3/64th aluminum wire with my setup. Thanks for the video and help.
do you have a video of really thin steel with the transsteel , its what im thinking of buying the machine for , i do a lot of stitching and im torn between one of these and an ewm picomig 180 puls .
50 year old landrovers mostly , so its 1mm with fifty years of rust , so more like .8mm when cleaned , but i make repair sections out of 1.2mm on a good day i get to weld 1.2 to 1.2 , i tend to join hot nearly burn through tacs to get a decent result , on a dream day its 2mm chassis to 2.5mm repair sections or even 3mm repair sections depending on what the customer has bought . one thing about welding landrover and discoverys , ill never run out of work ,,, i do a lot of bulkheads and rear half chassis , and more wheelarches on the back of discoverys than most things.
+tom thompson That’s awesome 😎 I’ve welded on one Land Rover about 9 years ago. I don’t think you will have a problem with the stitch mode especially with an .023 wire
levi Texas I told them they need to work on one. Let’s see if they come out with one - I suggest using the .040 slot. Make sure your drive wheel tension is 1 or below and use an .040 contact tip ask the tips will heat up and contract. You can use the .035 in the meantime but make sure your stick out is 5/8 to 3/4 long. When your on the .040 turn your wire feed to 385-425 and adjust your arc length right next to volts. A - will narrow your arc away from the tip and + will make the arc closer to the tip
Hi I recently bought a transsteel 2200 and love your videos really informative when mig welding aluminium what changes do u need to make to your torch and drive rolls if any.
Will, I suggest using 3/64 aluminum wire with a 1/16 inner liner and .052 contact tips. If you send me an email I’ll reply with part numbers you need Bliven.Christopher@fronius.com
For aluminum you always want to use the next size up due to the heat swelling and contracting of the contact tip. For instance, anything aluminum with the Fronius I suggest 3/64 wire with an .052 contact tip
torito90 Send me an email with your info and I’ll check with them to see where you can get it from. It’s top notch aluminum wire. It’s called Safra. It welds so good - Bliven.christopher@fronius.com
Ricardo C. The YesWelder is in a totally different league. It looks like if you were looking for a machine to get a quick job done or just something small to play around with than a YesWelder. If your looking for quality and performance based machine than Fronius. You will pay 💰 but see the difference
MilkyCereal83 okay, it’s the only one I could find under $500 that is 110v at 160amps and since it’s going to be my first time with aluminum for just a go kart I really didn’t want to break the bank

Bruce D Thanks for watching. I agree on everyone doing TIG videos. I understand why since there is more to learn. Anything with volume MIG aluminum all day
@@chris_b_liven probably 1/4 is the thickest, with occasional small 3/8, probably only actually running the machine 2-3 hours a day. I’d like to run 4043, so probably need to run a heavier wire cause of the softness?
You've got the best 2 videos regarding mig aluminum on the 2200 I've seen (incl. Chucky and fabricator). I'm ready to buy one, but got cold feet when the internet store model's display didn't show aluminum setting. Then I looked more closely at all the videos and there's a difference in drive rollers too. So where'd you get yours from? I'm not concerned with machine repairs as all the shops are 3 months out anyways....

Thanks a lot, love all your videos about Fronius.
Awesome!!! You will want to use an oversized contact tip so I suggest an .052 contact tip with a 1/16 inner liner. This would be for 3/64 aluminum wire. You can buy .045 rollers or you can turn your tension way down on the .035 roller to 1 or less. I use the standard rollers with silicon bronze wire and the knurled rollers for flux cored wire.
