My only gripe is that in the UK Kia has decided to limit its colour to the two dullest, white and black. Kia, if you ever read comments, this is the one reason why I'm not buying the GT. If I'm buying a performance car, I don't want it to look like everything else, and at £62.5K I don't expect to wrap or paint it myself.
🇰🇷 🇬🇧 Jack Scarlett - Our man in South Korea! Impressed with the on-site review! Both Hyundai and Kia offer compelling BEV choices with leading-edge technology and performance.
10:30 - Yep. My wife likes to accelerate hard and go fast (and keep HVAC at "full blast" at opposite-of-outside, so either full AC in Summer or full heat in Winter.) In our EVs that adjust range estimate based on recent driving, we can have up to a 100% difference in range estimates. In our old BMW i3, when she would drive it for a while, it would say 50 miles of range when charged to 100%. When I'd drive it more conservatively, I could get it to read over 100 miles. (We had to upgrade to a longer-range vehicle when we moved and her commute increased to 26 miles each way.)
Jack... the look on your face trying to break after the straight-a-way tells me you were not sure you'd live through the event. 🥺 I love your presentation and I love this channel.
£60k might be a lot of money for 90% of people, but new cars are expensive and even a mediocre petrol car costs £35k. There is nothing mediocre about this, it looks beautiful and Jack says it’s a hoot to drive. The channel rightly focuses a lot on cheaper end EVs as well as expensive ones, so it’s great to see this. Well done Jack and the production team for another great engaging video.
When I can go out to my local Toyota dealer and purchase a petrol Corolla for 17k € flat, I don't see the point of looking at electric cars for the foreseeable future. Nothing in that car is worth the additional 43k €. Although electricity's cheaper than gas, I'd still be looking at roughly 30 years of usage and maintenance for the corolla until I'd reach price parity with this Kia; and then that same Kia would be 30 years old and in need of constant maintenance / new battery over the years as well. For those capable of basic math it doesn't make any financial sense to jump onto these "luxury" sedans, crossover or SUV-types, at all.
Brilliant review. Thank you. Absolutely love this car (might have even ordered one) and you’ve picked out some of the key points that make it so attractive to a middle-aged dad who also loves driving and Scottish highland roads. Current car is mapped Skoda superb which combines the same elements of ludicrous practicality and comfort with a secret dose of madness when the family has been left at home. The GT offers the same engagement (the flappy paddles for regen are a work of genius for the driver who wants engagement) and then takes it to another level of insanity (errr excitement). For me, that makes this car a no brainer entry into the world of EV for someone who is not concerned about the badge but wants a grin on their face. I’ve been a little anxious about range figures (remember I mentioned the highlands?) but you seem to have confirmed my suspicions. 200 or so when put through its paces, but nearer 250 when talked down a little. What’s not to like? Only the wait time for delivery :)
You're not looking hard enough. There's far more EVs that the majority of buyers want, but none are considered valuable for Western markets. If this giant, expensive Kia EV is what you call a perfect point of entry, you should have a look at the Kia Ray EV.
@@toyotaprius79 perhaps you're not reading hard enough, or maybe just misunderstood: perfect entry point for *me*. I live in rural Scotland and make business trips all over the UK and leisure trips with family and bikes - a small city car is utterly useless to me. Had one for a while. It’s an astonishingly good car. The performance is insane but it’s whisper quiet and very capable as an every day family car too. So cheap to run and a joy to drive.
Great video, Jack!! Its interesting to me that the Koreans make some of the best EVs on the market, but the charging here is sparse at best. I am here in Pyeongteak, and there are very few charging stations. I love seeing Korea add more charging stations so more people buy them here.
Hi Joshua, you're probably right that outside the Seoul metropolitan area charging coverage drops off. But in Seoul and inner Gyeonggi-do coverage is quite adequate. There's something like 3000+ chargers in and around Seoul according to the EV Infra app. Check it out, you might find some unexpected charging locations near you, and you can filter by network and charging type.
I drive a Kia Ceed GT, love the sportyness of the car, sound and speed. This EV6 GT is utterly a dream car for me, sadly costs way too much for me to ever afford one, which really hurts the feels deeply as I like it so very much. Wishing for a miracle to happen that I may hope for one some day...
Another fantastic episode Jack, but that vest is the star.... Where do you even get one... Did you mug a Korean Shepard? I want one as much as I want the GT!
The EV race is going to give a lot of manufacturers the opportunity to finally jump ahead of very well known brands. Kia/Hyundai have had great innovations within the past 5-7 years, including their new Genesis brand. However, they could not compete in terms of power to the big dogs since their engine uses very old tech, so even though it had the raw horsepower, it was very fuel inefficient. Kia/Hyundai also did not have the best transmissions to handle loads of power. The DCT in the Veloster N and Elantra N are more recent and even those cannot handle 400hp+ very easily. The EV game flattens the playing field a lot more. Power? Electric motor. No problem. Transmissions? Single speed, maybe 2 speeds, done. Fuel economy? Electric. That's it. I've always loved Kia/Hyundai designs and technologies. I just never liked how slow their cars were to the competition. Now with the EV6 GT, we're talking a $75k car competing with cars in the $200-$500k price range even.
And so is anything with an engine which doesn't comply with Euro 6, once these Clean Air Zones begin spreading like wildfire...... and a couple of years after euro 7 appears in 2025, just watch them up the compliance limit to Euro 7......
Same with model 3 performance. Has even slightly better performance than this, price is slightly lower than entry price of this and looks way better than the Kia. But there seems to be a trend not to mention Tesla on car shows. Rather silly and ignorent.

Hey! Great episode. Well done FC team. I must say though, as a long time supported of FC, I am getting a bit numb to these reviews of ridiculously expensive EVs.

The best thing about this car is that Tesla is finally forced to make a proper performance Model 3 and Y. Kia/Hyundai and Tesla is just so far ahead of the rest of the EV world. If just Kia had ordered the batteries for their EV they would be selling by the millions.
The existing Teslas utterly outperform this car. A bit faster, a lot more efficient, a lot more range, and cheaper. What else would you include in "proper"?
I drive a Kia Stinger and this is the first EV car that I would realistically consider and that I can afford. All the qualities and needs that I looked for and love about my Stinger is also in this car. The only thing that is a big minus for me is the lack of a front trunk space unlike some other EV cars on the market and for a bespoke EV platform, I think that is a big oversight. I would love to be able to store small loose items that always stay in the car as well as charging cables and accesories in the front trunk and keep the back trunk empty for larger items and looking clean and tidy.
Hopefully they keep the same underpinnings and put on a cabin with something lower riding: saloons, estate cars, etc. Ultra-powerful Clio-style hatchbacks would be awesome.
At 16:42 I there’s a large looking speed camera, I think in what looks like a reinforced bunker. Are those police lights on the top!? Great video Jack.
This might sound a little crazy but, I think that Kia is the new Audi. They go their own way and really make a statement when they do! I prefer this over a Tesla to be honest. I had a Cerato GT for a while and absolutely loved it. I would buy one in a heart beat if I had the money.
My wife had a new 2022 Kia Stonic (SUV version of a Rio) for 4 months while we waited for my Tesla Model Y to arrive. I was amazed that the tech in this AU$28k Kia was almost as good as that in the EV6 (it even LOOKED the same / similar!). Only downside was the severe lack of power (someone with a ford ranger, towing a large caravan) passed us on a freeway going UPHILL - and we were flat to the floor at the time !!! The poor little thing was revving its guts out :-(
Such an insanely awesome car, and kudos to Kia for sticking to their guns with the design and tech! I just with they'd chosen a different hero colour for the GT model launch...more often than not that's the colour people will associate with the car, and they've already launched the lower specs with the same colour months ago! The matte grey is great don't get me wrong, but your 600hp halo car really should look a little more unique don't ya think?
Now that would definitely grab some attention in the right way I'd reckon. People will see this crazy Bright green car flogging supercars online and then they'll be more likely to head down to a dealer and buy it in a normal colour. Seems pretty basic to me from a marketing/appeal standpoint, but maybe KIA is going for the whole understated Q Car look.
I mean what Audi would you consider a halo car? The R8? What is a halo car useful for if you almost never see it. RS6 is quiet common in comparison and that is about the same as the EV6 GT is for Kia :)
We in the UK can't even buy the GT in anything other than black or white now they removed the Matt Steel Grey in the middle of last year, just around the time they made it available to order. Luckily, I just managed to get hold of a cancelled early order in steel grey which makes it the rarest of the rare EV6's in the UK, hopefully, should be picking it up in a week or two when it gets off the boat from S. Korea 🙂 but why the heck we can't have the same extended colour range as the U.S. I don't know.
the back end of this car looks so great. Kia are making some headturning cars these days. Lately something will drive past me and I will "Wow! What is that?" Three times lately it's been a Kia.
I think the only car that measures up is the Polestar 2 for its price point. With the long range dual motor, plus, pilot and performance packs, that car is a beast.
I have noticed several times that fully charged goes out of their way to pretend that Tesla doesn't exist. It's a bit smegheady of them. I would like an explanation.
@@DanFrederiksen Their boss doesn't like Elon Musk. The one time they mentioned Tesla lately is when they compared it to a Polestar 2 and dissed the Model 3 saying it looked like a fish. They've become the typical generic UA-cam channel. Imagine saying the GT's rival is the Mach-E GT which can only accelerate for 5 seconds full throttle before going into turtle mode. lol
💯.... As a Tesla MYP owner, I actually think Kia is making good EVs but to not mention the best-selling EV SUV+Sedan in the WORLD, the Y+3 its dishonest say the least. They mentioned more expensive cars so even if the Y/3 are more expensive they deserve the mention.
@@Teddy_M85 And it's consistent it seems. Every review however relevant. If an EV does 4 second acceleration they pretend it's the first time and fastest in the world. It's a c move.
I just bought a GT and it is amazing. This is coming from a Panamera Turbo. I miss the prestige but not the cost of ownership. Plus this car is just faster and much easier to live with. I have to disagree with the suspension comments. I drive through bumpy industrial roads with a railroad crossing daily. and I am impressed with the suspension, again coming for an air suspension Panamera.
if £60K is 'on a budget' then I guess I'll go get in line at the foodbank! £60K is a big old chunk of change for anyone. Anyway as always from Kia lately its a very good looking car.
It's a deal for what it offers. The Ford Mustang mark E GT is 15K more expensive as he mentioned. The Tesla model y performance is also a lot more expensive.

I'm old school, so the direction that the Kia EV6 GT is taking, to me, goes against environmental responsibility. How is unlocking performance abilities to do donuts (smoking tyres), an environmental positive? The asking price is higher than the standard versions which already have more power than "necessary". The reality is that the approaching future battery resources limitations will being magnified, not diverted with cars of this ridiculous performance level being promoted. Fire away. 😉
It is still much more responsible than any high-power-ice car. You can't tell the market what to buy unless you would be Steve Job's ghost. Until then, giving an electric alternative is the way to go and does not really correlate with "battery ressources limitations"
A colleague of mine ordered an EV6 (non-GT) the day it was announced. Delivery got delayed. delayed again and now he got a mid-2024 date that they couldn't guarantee, so he cancelled the order. Wonder if the GT is yet another model Kia can't or won't deliver?

My only gripe is that in the UK Kia has decided to limit its colour to the two dullest, white and black. Kia, if you ever read comments, this is the one reason why I'm not buying the GT. If I'm buying a performance car, I don't want it to look like everything else, and at £62.5K I don't expect to wrap or paint it myself.
Trust me, in real life, in black, they are to die for. In particular from the rear. We looked at a EV6 GT S. Sunroof etc. My fav ev.
I agree. They recently pulled the matte grey due to demand. Definitely needs more colours!
@@GudieveNing it’s fine until dirty. Black is a doomed colour to keep looking good. Even rain can leave marks.
And no sunroof!!!!!! Arghhhhh.
Tutting will do, thank you.
Great to see a moderately mad fun EV from Kia!
I love the regen system. I kind of have a heavy foot *wink* and surprisingly from the dealership to my home I still had full range available.
🇰🇷 🇬🇧 Jack Scarlett - Our man in South Korea! Impressed with the on-site review! Both Hyundai and Kia offer compelling BEV choices with leading-edge technology and performance.
So much more informative and entertaining than Top Gear, and others programmes on TV - well done A++++
10:30 - Yep.
Why would you bother? Don't hear many ICE owners stressing about range. They just get on with life.
Jack is definitely living his best life haha
Apart from the embarassing carbon footprint.
Great fun & informative video - thanks Jack 😊
Jack... the look on your face trying to break after the straight-a-way tells me you were not sure you'd live through the event.
Appreciate it!
@@KonsaiAsTai That is strange because in the Uk it’s £29,610 for a new Corolla. A base model EV6 is £43,495.
You need to visit an opticians. Has to be one of the ugliest cars to come out this year, not to mention the Kia badge, come on...
Excellent review as always from Jack.
Amazing review of an amazing car, congratulations to Kia and the reviewer!
I just watched a $150k BMW i7 review right before this video and I have to say, the KIA excites me way more :D
Driving through the side streets of Gangnam at night? Brave and patient man... 🙂 Great review!
I ran 6 people over filming that intro
You're a lucky chap having the highlands on your doorstep. You're going to love this car.
A car that I cannot even buy in my country is even more useless, if indeed that were possible 🤷♂
I think delivery times in Europe are about 43 years by now for a Kia EV6.
The intro shots look really really great
Had one for a while. It’s an astonishingly good car. The performance is insane but it’s whisper quiet and very capable as an every day family car too. So cheap to run and a joy to drive.
nice report...top marks Jack.
In Canada, this is $5,500CAD less than a Model 3 performance. Payment is $160/month less if financed for 5 years... So nearly $10,000 less in the end.
Sometimes I want to be silly and sometimes I want to be practical. Brilliant!
Great video, I have the same red GT on order, hope the 2 years wait will be a bit shorter than announced !
@@marioseoul yeah even before I left in 2018, they seemed to be in most relatively new parking garages in Seoul.
Amazing review. My favourite channel and reviewer.
Love Jacks vids. In the UK....bear in mind when they tax EV's......this ones fooked.
And so is anything with an engine which doesn't comply with Euro 6, once these Clean Air Zones begin spreading like wildfire...... and a couple of years after euro 7 appears in 2025, just watch them up the compliance limit to Euro 7......
@@Brian-om2hh yes, diesel and petrol cars with be worth buttons.
first video from this channel, seriously impressive production quality.
They should’ve made the spoiler black on the GT. I saw a modified EV6 with the spoiler painted black and it looked great.
What interests me, because I predicted it, is how much power the regen braking generates. The end of mechanical brakes is nigh.
Looks like a great country to visit as well
Great vid guys, this looks a bonkers drive !!
Model Y Performance has basically the same HP. I like what Kia did, but why do people talk about it as it is unprecedented?
Same with model 3 performance. Has even slightly better performance than this, price is slightly lower than entry price of this and looks way better than the Kia. But there seems to be a trend not to mention Tesla on car shows. Rather silly and ignorent.
@@ncr79 you are literally the first person I've seen who thinks a Tesla looks better than this... Common consensus is that Tesla's are great EVs but that they're ugly af
Specsavers anyone? A Tesla, good looking? The Y is the ugliest car on the road, followed by the fiat multipla and then the model 3 🤮
Unprecedented for Kia. That was very clear in the video.
I agree, kia is doing great but pretending that the model 3 hasn't existed for the last 5 years is just ridiculous.
Welcome to Korea!
Surprised to see you in Korea. Cool
One of my favourite countries. Lived in Busan for a year. visiting JeJu & Seoul. Beautiful
As someone who can’t give up the practicality of an SUV, even without kids, but loves the thrill of a quick ride this car seems perfect. I have an order in for an Ioniq 5 but since this is showing up before Hyundai’s performance version I might have to go with this one.
I'd get one, but the wait time will be 12+ months in the UK. Shame
Hey! Great episode. Well done FC team. I must say though, as a long time supported of FC, I am getting a bit numb to these reviews of ridiculously expensive EVs.
2014. Kryton brought a modest 22k nissan leaf.
2022 gets flown out first class to skorea to pimp out pos KIa ev is 53 grand
EV market is so out of touch and have left the common man behind and are just BIK tax cheating rocket ships.
KIA is a 'forward-charging' brand. This is a car I would purchase.
This presentation along with this car, simply brilliant! Love it.
When Giant Jack is stood between the two EV6’s they look like sporty hatch backs 😂
The poor little thing was revving its guts out :-(
Awesome review and a great car from Korea 👍
Such an insanely awesome car, and kudos to Kia for sticking to their guns with the design and tech! I just with they'd chosen a different hero colour for the GT model launch...more often than not that's the colour people will associate with the car, and they've already launched the lower specs with the same colour months ago! The matte grey is great don't get me wrong, but your 600hp halo car really should look a little more unique don't ya think?
Maybe fluro green like the seat stitching ?
Kia has its own damn name! Kia is Kia!
Very good review.
I truly wish I could buy one of these at MSRP.
Really nice car but calling 60k on a budget….I’m not sure 🤔
It is half the price of a Taycan.
Yes still very expensive like all EVs at the moment
the back end of this car looks so great.
Mad car & fr mad filming. Great video
Fully Charge morphs into Top Gear!
Did he consciously not mention Tesla as the only real competitor with the performance model 3 and Model Y?
I wonder why.. Because it's a fact?
I have noticed several times that fully charged goes out of their way to pretend that Tesla doesn't exist. It's a bit smegheady of them. I would like an explanation.
I mean, everyone else is already jerking off the Tesla crowd at full capacity. There's no more room for hands in their laps, I'm afraid.
Range rover money
'budget' is relative, find a cheaper 500+bhp electric car
@@Yubuzka3774 these EVs are decades away from being able to use the term ‘budget’ in any real world scale. Some in China are close but not when they do actually get here, like the Funky Cat.

The car looks awesome, but driving a regular EV6 I can say the climate/nav toggle is painful to use and have read several others complain as well. I miss having physical buttons.

We need mad cars like this to keep us from going insane with the rinse and repeat SUVs. The GT is a bit pricey, I am going to see a GT-Line at the dealer on Monday. The biggest complaint I hear is the meridian audio system is poor which will be a deal breaker for me. Great fun review.

Curious if you'll actually be able to get one for 60k. Dealer markups from Kia, Hyundai & Genesis in the U.S. have been insane.

It is because of chips shortage everywhere. It takes 2years to get this even in its origin country. Cancellation only makes its delivery late...
