Did I see you advertising a day at Helmingham Hall soon, James? If so, I'd be interested in coming along
@@matthewpokora336 yep, August 4th - email me about it
Am I the only one terrified of being hit by someone who suddenly has ~500bhp in their >2 tonne electric SUV having never previously had access to that kind of power (and never having wanted it)?
And, still, if you live in a flat (40% in the UK), you're screwed. Or do you have the spare time to spend (approximate figures) an hour charging for every 200 miles you want to drive?
The major problem is not EVs - it’s the lack of a charging network. The people who ignore that are the ‘I’m alright, Jack, I charge at home’ brigade - great for you, not for others.
(Oh, and if an EV works for your particular situation, do tell us all, because that means they work for everyone.)
You think that's bad, look at the latest monstrosity from Tesla! 1000hp and seemingly designed to cut pedestrians in half. It's OK though, it's stainless steel so they won't leave a dent & you can just wash the blood and guts off with a hose and you're good to go again.
@@Beer_Dad1975 Hopefully, that will never come to Europe. Also, it'll simply be too big to use in the UK.
You're just silly. They're not hard to drive safely.
Let’s face it . A E V is for rich people. …
Honestly I'm more worried about these stupid yank tanks like the Ram, F150 and Silverado, where the driver probably can't even see me and the safety features are lacking
Great review James.
I've done 15,000 miles in one over the past year. It's a stunning car.
As you say they're not as big as they look in photos, more like a big hot hatch, and nowhere near as tall as a normal SUV. But unlike a model 3 you can get a dog in the back. Driving one and parking in London is no problem at all.
The only drawbacks I have found are the weak bass performance (come on Meridian!) easily fixed with an active sub for £250, The seatbelts don't always react back into the intended spot making them rattle (again easily fixed, and surely they will update this with the net refresh) and tyres are quite expensive (£300 each, pilot sport 4s) but seem to last well, I expect get 30,000 miles from mine.
It's mind bendingly fast, but also great fun, a real drivers' car. As you say really if you can get over badge snobbery it's more of a Lamborghini Urus rival than anything else. The interior quality is very good and in my 1st year absolutely nothing has gone wrong.
I even took mine round Brands Hatch when it was too cold and wet for the Mono and it was surprisingly good fun.
I have more traditional ICE sports vehicles, but honestly 99% of the time I prefer driving the EV6 GT, it's an astounding achievement for KIA.
(Oh and it really does recharge from 10-80% in 18 minutes, I've done it plenty of times. Porsche centres have fast chargers you can use that can charge these at full speed btw)
(The other cars are an original Honda NSX, Porsche 997 and a BAC Mono by the way, not bad competition...)
a £50k masterpiece, 2 years later a £20k masterpiece
So you’re complaining it’s expensive new and too cheap used 🤣🤷🏼♂️
Surely being cheap used is a good thing, for those with low budgets.
10yrs later 5k old tec.
I hope so! Mine is leased so if I can buy it at the end for £20k I’ll be very happy!
He's stating a fact, not a complaint. You can tell the difference right ? @@SDK2006b
More like £10K in 5 years. Teslas bought for £130K in 2018 (Model S or X, 100D top of the range) are selling for £25-28K with low mileage for age. Imagine a KIA. And I drive a lovely 7 Seater Santa Fe 2017 that I paid £25K for and it's now worth £17K still.
I struggle with all these monster horsepower monster price tag EV’s. I remember when an insanely quick car was a Mitsubishi Evo with 300bhp, and you couldn’t exploit even that performance on the public road. To do 0 to 60mph in 3 seconds you needed a McLaren F1!
These days anything above 4s 0 to 60 is lawn tractor performance. At least if you listen to many of the youtube car journalists. How can you even keep up with traffic in something so slow.
@@heiner71 sometimes I get out & run away from the traffic lights instead because my car only does it in 6 seconds
My RS3 will do 60mph in 2.5 seconds or better. I can say with 100% authority that it is completely unnecessary. My Citroen Cactus was much better for city driving and that thing was slow.
As someone who's living in China and 32 years old looking to buy his first car and it being electric seeing all these performance numbers on such cheap electric cars is just wild, there are suvs here that do 0-100 kph in under 4 seconds there are sedans that do the fucking 0-100 in 1.8 seconds.
Even more impressive is that they'll do this wild acceleration with wheelspins or dangerous lurching. When i was first driving, any car that would do 0-60 mph in less than 8 seconds would soon see you wrapped around a tree arse first.
Harrys Garage has done a good video about ev market
Yeah agree and i also wrote a comment 😅
And let’s not even talk about the battery degradation!
@@Buck3366 which isn’t really a thing…
@@carboresross? My wife’s kona has gone from just under 300 mile range to 220 in a year. It’s only three years old.
Yep, he's just demolished any possible reason for private buyers to purchase an EV
A friend has the standard EV6 and when he first got it said to him how glad I was that at least Kia have worked out how to give a car modern styling without making it so ugly and ostentatious it would make children cry and offend little old ladies. It's a very handsome thing.
And it's an EV that just looks like a car. No silly vomit-green trim everywhere or 'look at me' badging. It's just a handsome, practical car that happens to use an electric motor. And then Kia have made a subtle performance version that is all of the above and blisteringly fast and fun.
I think the Germans need to visit South Korea for a lecture on modern car design!!
Between this, the Stinger, the Picanto GT-Line and the way Kia have always treated James well, Kia are fast becoming a brand I would recommend above almost anything else.
While I'm not an EV nor South Asian cars kind of guy, I've noticed these and I'm genuinely looking forward to this one.
Kia isn’t south Asian
@@brianpauw Ok?
And?
Yeah pretty amazing car for the money.
@@tastypymp1287 at least it isn't made in india like the eastern Brothers, same brand but different quality
Excellent video as always James.
As others have said, I can’t understand why a car like this (a ‘normal’ family car) has so much power and torque. In a world where we have speed restrictions everywhere, cameras, etc, and the point of ‘forcing’ us into Ev’s is surely to reduce the environmental impact of driving, then surely manufacturers should be making economical ‘just fast enough vehicles’ especially those that look like family cars. I’m genuinely fearful of being out on the roads with these vehicles about, likely driven by people with ‘normal’ every day driving abilities, with so much power and torque on tap, and without the v8 or v12 sound track to make them realise just how hard they’ve hit the accelerator pedal.
If it looked like a GT40 I would understand it.
Not a reflection whatsoever on your excellent video. ❤
The Ol’ Man 👍🏼
Jay, that's because the EV6 was designed by the Chap who did the Gallardo and other Lamborghini ;)
Nice review! Love my GT. A year in and 20k. Sound system fixed by replacing the passive sub with a powered one. Oh and I’m a full on petrolhead. Too many previous cars to mention but everything from kit cars to M cars. Current garage is a 1971 Land Rover, S2000 and Ducati Monster.
Same here - I love EVs (own a Tesla) but also a petrol head, owing a 5L Mustang and 4 motorbikes 😅. For me it’s just another, very pleasurable, type of driving, but for some it seems to be a culture war 🤷🏻♂️
@@sagaloutagreed. I hate to say it aswell, but it seems to be the same 2 demographics of people who don’t like them……crusty old white men around the 50 year old age, and young lads who drive around McDonalds car park in their 1.2 Corsa’s.
I had a Kia E-Nero and wanted to purchase a EV-6 GT to replace it. The dealer wanted a ridiculous markup and I could not get the color or options I wanted. After looking at a Tesla performance model Y I purchased one. Cheaper because I bought when Elon dropped the price, fantastic easy purchase on line, and the vehicle is great. The supercharger network makes all the difference in the world.
I really liked the Kia, the quality of the vehicle was excellent for a cheap small car, and I would have liked the EV-6, but the dealer network and the markup left a sour taste. Couldn’t be happier with the Tesla.
"Cheap" ok Elon
I've just watched Harry's video on evs and I think I'll hold on to my ICE car for a few more years.
This might be one of the best examples of a car where the front looks excellent & the rear is horrendous.
The front looks really sharp, the rear is just disgusting.
Similar story with the MG4
In terms of looks I much prefer its Hyundai stablemate, the Ioniq 5.
Rear looks fab
Front is pants
I wasn’t a fan of the rear on images when these were first released.
Having been behind 1 or 2 out in the wild, it does look better in the flesh.
They're even better value for money in the States. You can get a GT brand new for $50k USD (~40k pounds). Never really considered an electric car but I do like this one
Ive had mine for 5 months and I love it - its totally addictive to drive - didn't even consider a tesla - everyones got one - no thanks !
Good choice ⚡️👍🏻😊
I've had my EV6 (not the GT) for almost two years. The day I got it someone next to me at traffic lights wound down his window and told me he thought it was a Lambo Urus 😂. It got a lot of attention that first year while there were still very few on the roads.
Hi james
What ever you pay for the company to edit your videos, is money well spent, lots of quality cut away shots of things or options you are talking about as you drive is just how I like to watch a review.👍
£50k for this is actually depressing.
What has this country become that people are willing to spend that kind of money.
I guess when people pay monthly it distorts the outrageous total price. I do also wonder if many UA-camrs perception of value is a little distorted, especially when they own several Ferraris etc/ appear to be extremely wealthy due to a mix of inheritance, hard work & good fortune.
Welcome to 2024 car prices .
A new base poverty spec, manual gear box, 75bhp petrol Ford Fiesta costs over £20k now
@@SDK2006b Expect them to get pricier still. The ££ has been tanking for a long while now.
It's a load cheaper than its closest European competitors, particularly once you start adding all the options that are standard on this - a load more reliable too I'd imagine - I bet for example, the wireless charging pad actually works, unlike any German car where it just turns your phone into a pocket warmer.
Most if not all of these will be leased in some form.
Think i will stick to my 13 year old Saab convertible thanks😂😂

We drive the GT as our family car. I’m considering myself a petrol head and also have a Boxster GTS 4.0. The Porsche cost exactly double the money and sometimes I ask myself why - liking them both though
Taxes are part of the reason. Porsche is also a proper sports car, this isn't. There are more into making a sports car than just horsepower. It is strange that you consider yourself a petrol head and have a GTS 4, and you don't understand where the money goes....
@@ΧρήστοςΔενέχεισημασία taxes are absolutely zero part of the reason here in Germany. No difference in taxes regarding purchase price.
No doubt the Boxster is a fun car and I like driving it on track and through the alps. But the value for money ratio just isn’t as good. As I’m one of the few people who are not just bashing EVs but actually own both, I know what I’m talking about :)
Probably the only EV I'd ever consider having. 👍
Ever? For ever ever?
@@joby602 most likely, most just look shit. Been in a few Tesla's and stuff and they're just fucking boring. Wouldn't mind that Hyundai N Vision 74 thing, but that was only a concept anyway and isn't an EV.
Great review - alas I had an option the GT but couldn't get the GT-S but I'm loving my first EV as a proud Polestar 2 owner.
Keep up the great work dude 👊
Great modern stuff.
I live in an old apartment with zero charging ability so it's completely and utterly useless.
Money makes money. Being entitled is a nice place to be.
I followed one of these being hustled down the country lanes near me a couple of weeks ago. Firstly I kept up with ease, despite the obvious efforts to show off the power - I was in a Cooper S. Secondly it didn't look like it was much fun to me to drive along like that. They look heavy and ungainly.
Harry's Garage sums these EVs up perfectly. I would also be worried how much was left of the £50k when it came to trade in time.
Mini Cooper S will out handle most vehicles on the road but yeah these big EV crossovers and SUVs with 600hp are just pointless big 2 tonne monsters that can't handle corners well and they are driven by people who wouldn't normally have a car with more than 200hp or so.
I was close to ready to get one.
I feel there is some room left to improve the efficiency.
If they manage a facelift to bring aerodynamic drag down to the level of the Model Y or Macan, and tweak the drivetrain a bit with new insights...it will be a lot more attractive. Example: the new Taycan added a lot of range with a slightly lighter battery. Model S now has a battery much lighter than the smaller ones from a couple generations ago. EV6 might get a bit large battery, but still really fast charging. For me, ideally the EV6 also came as EV7, just a bit longer. Say, as a superwago. Wagons are getting longer themselves, look at the new Passat and BMW 5.
My boss has one. Nice looking, but despite being a large car, it was a bit of a pain getting in, being over 6’. With the battery in the floor and a low roof, it was a very tight squeeze!
I saw a review on the IONIC 5N, which sounds an engineering marvel in every respect. Please review this if you get a chance.
Brilliant as always
JaY ..❤🎉
I have a 320bhp EV6 and boy does it move that GT must be a rocket 🚀 might just do a swap to give these
Bmw run for there money 💰 😅😅
Jay the changes in the springs were to stop understeer or bring on more oversteer. So softer front and stiffer rear helps. They probably increased front negative camber and softened the front sway bar. What about tyre sizes? Larger on the front or just lower tyre pressures?
Personally I think the whole gas vs EV argument is silly. Both have their purpose and pros and cons, I wish the EV fanboys would understand why EVs don't make good sports cars, and I wish ICE fans would acknowledge the obvious benefits of EVs when it comes to daily drivers. I say this as an enthusiast myself, I've owned several manual transmission sports cars including my current c7 Vette. And I'm telling you, when it comes to daily drivers, a well-executed EV is simply better.
We have a Jaguar I-PACE EV as our daily driver. This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. Yes, it can be annoying on road trips - but it's not the end of the world unless you road trip all the time. It's the better car 364 days of the year, and the worse car 1 day of the year.
Having said all of that, like I said I'm an enthusiast, and we also have two sports cars (manual transmission c7 corvette stingray and an R56 Mini Cooper JCW, both of which I frequently use for road rallys and autocross), and I have no desire for either of those to be electric. The whole point of those cars is a visceral, loud, lightweight, connected experience with a manual transmission. I know there is a Boxster EV coming soon and I’m sure it’ll be great and smoke my c7 around any racetrack, but I have no interest at all, even as a current EV owner. Sports cars should be gas powered and manual IMO. So as I said, each has their purpose. I don’t see myself ever going back to gas for daily driver, and I don’t see myself ever going EV for sports cars.
My point is simple: EVs are better at some things, and gas cars are better at some things. "Taking a side" doesn't make sense, even for enthusiasts. Just acknowledge what the other is better at. EVs dont work for everyone (you need a place to charge and can't road trip all the time etc etc), but if it works in your lifestyle - try it before you knock it is all I'm saying. You might be surprised.
And like I said - just because a car is EV doesn't make it good. There are good EVs and bad ones, just like gas cars. For example, I' not a huge Tesla fan. But, the well-executed EVs are, in my opinion, the best daily drivers, if they fit into your lifestyle.
...and this is coming from someone that's currently on his 8th manual transmission sports car (Vette, Mini JCW, 350Z, etc etc). And to be clear - these are my favorite cars, not the I-PACE. But, I have a wife and a kid, and we need something that isn't manual and has a back seat. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.
People are fanboys/tribal. Its human nature. Unbiased and true enthusiasts are such a small subset of people, even those very into cars, that you will have to search for a long time to find a single one.
Well said
Wholeheartedly agree. ICE and EV both have a place in the motoring mix. Fortunate enough to have an EV daily, a 7-seat diesel SUV for family duties, and a 40-year-old tax-exempt petrol classic for fun.
Imagine talking to Jay at a night out with your friends,I am not sure I could keep a straight face with that robotic accent😊
He doesn’t have that accent when he is normally talking
In case you didn't know, there is now a high speed EV charger in the car park behind Earls Colne Co-op. also, I too started seeing a lot of Alpine's around the aera in the latter part of last year!
Cool story Bro
@@polopowered ahhh, thanks, you're obviously a person of good taste!
High rise saloons, I choose to refer to these things as. SUV has been the wrong name since the Qashqai took off, but I see how plastic cladding, raised suspension and maybe an optional additional driven axle drove the market to the term.
After what you said about speed cameras in Sweden I've decided that the part of the UK I live in must be a Swedish colony
Looks nice from the front and the side but it all goes wrong once you get round the back. Acceleration on most EVs are great but you really know you’re in a heavy car when you hit the brakes! Been using an E tron for 4 months and it’s not been a big deal, done 9000 miles never had any charging issues, it’s all about the planning
I love watching you drive from the Hedinghams to and from Wethersfield. Were you in a Land Rover yesterday?
A colleague at work has the EV6 GT, whilst I opted for the MG4 Xpower (both salary sacrifice scheme). The interior quality of the EV6 is a big leap forward from the MG but he actually prefers to ride in mine. He pays around 75% more a month for the Kia and I'm not sure that's worth it, despite the MG's shortcomings. The MG feels just as fast, more manoeuvrable, and rides better on the roads around work. On the negative side, the UI and safety systems on the MG are rubbish! There is also no adjustability to suspension settings.
Alpine currently have 0% apr on new stock cars. Low deposit, 10k pa, first service, 36 months. Id take this over the kia 😅

Just got mine two weeks ago, loving it.
Be interesting to know what you might think of it if you lived with it for a month or so? Range anxiety, charging issues, cost to run and depreciation for starters.
I have alot of respect for Kia and Hyundai now a days, i20n and i30n for example, Stinger especially.
This looks great but the weight and the fact it's an electric car really knock it back
Well I lasted 18 seconds, that's a 5 seconds improvement.
See on the next IC video Jay.
There is a cream for that. :D
I suppose that it's assembled a bit better than a Tesla too, though that appears to be not too hard though.
Tesla spent all the money and development time on the software interface and very little on the engineering side it would appear.
At last an EV that if you had to buy one is worth looking at and far better looking
than Elon Musks attempts, and hopefully won't catch fire, i wonder how much it will
cost to insure?🤔
Would i buy one, perhaps when they are available on the used market.
Current EV depreciation is eye watering.
So thumbs up to Kia, can they continue this trend.🙂👍💓
Kia and Hyundai are killing it with their EVs.
Problem with EV’s are they were supposed to be a solution to petrol/diesel. Instead they have just become play toys for the rich.
Leaving normal people very little choice when forced into ULEZ.
Clearly this is all by design and cars will only be for a certain class of people
Another great video Jay , but please can you find a new starting point as all of these cars you feature going through that massive hole/puddle before accelerating for some reason just sends shudders through my spine , more so for the car ha ha ! ... keep up the great work .
Maybe I'm a cynic, but:
£50k to buy
£50k to replace the battery when you run over something
£50k to insure &
£50k depreciation in 3 years
🤪
I recently watched 'Harry's Garage' where he discus's the battery degradation on EV's ,and how the buyer isn't told at what state the battery is in,ie how long it'll last..A big issue with selling and buying on the 2nd hand market i guess...Ha!
Nothing a cheap OBD dongle and CarScanner on your phone can't tell you. Car batteries also degrade far far slower than say, a laptop or phone battery as they have a pretty large buffer they don't use, and they also control the heat of the battery pack which you can't do with a phone. The 1st gen Leaf also gave EV's a bad name as it had zero cooling on the battery, so they didn't last long.
Newer battery chemistry, such as LiFePo as used in the BYD's and Tesla Model 3 refresh also degrade far slower.
But you have an 8 year warranty on the battery so if it dips below 70% state of health Kia will replace it.
Masterpieces normally go up in value. The value of this will plummet like a stone. Oh, and masterpieces are normally works of beauty, something this ugly object is most definitely not.
Interesting new video by ‘Harry’s Garage’ today re EVs and issues surrounding them, one of which was battery degradation over time. One of the things that can be detrimental to the battery is regular rapid charging, so don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s great to be able to use a rapid charger unless you are the first owner and trade it in after 3yrs so someone else has the problem!
In regards to degradation, I also highly recommend "engineering explained", he's done quite a few about degradation and also separates them into the different types.
TLDW; High charging percentages are degrading, not the charging (speed) itself. The BMS is intelligent enough to sort out the rest.
EV6, Polestar 2 and forthcoming Polestar 4 make my ev shortlist. Leccy cars that are also interesting.
Is the Lynk&Co for lease in the UK? It's common here in The Netherlands. Looks like a baby Cayenne, has a MASSIVE hybrid battery, and a generic ICE in the front to have the old school fill up experience.
I imagine the average driver uses around 3 full tanks over a year. In commutes, you don't drain the battery unless you messed up the charge.
14:58 "It's faster than KIA say" I've seen 3.5s given against 0-60 on KIA's EV6 GT page, and 0-62 on KIA's EV6 page, so either it's a tiny bit faster than what KIA say, or actually bang on.
This isn't a suv/crossover, it's an estate or a really big hatchback
All that power in the hands of an average driver, for a daily driver or school run and we wonder why insurance premiums have risen?
I own an EV-GT and its a amazing car for the money..
I also live in Perth Western Australia so I charge the car for free from my solar power.
So i basically don't pay for fuel ever ,BEAT THAT.
The mass is super low so the handling is amazing for such a heavy vehicle.
Dialy driving is just unbeatable in this as its so smooth an efficient, like a road go cart.
looks great and the performance is mind-blowing..
And yes im a petrol head my last car was a 2019 RS4 but I won't deny a good car because of a stubborn mind or ego..
This is an amazing vehicle and if you drove one or owned one you would understand but your poor so you cannot, so just hate :P..
Also ev batterie are far more recyclable than you think do some research.
This is an extremely good car both in ergonomics and engineering
Lets see how well that engineering is holding up in 15 years.
Removing diesel cars from the streets is a good move as their particulates are still nasty regardless to the fitration used and I have no problem with those being phased out but the benefits will be small due to lorries, buses etc still using them. The exhaust pollution from a modern petrol engine is surprisingly small, mainly water vapour and a few other gases.
To claim EV's are clean is rather strange, just because you cannot see a trail of exhaust is to conviently ignore the damage being done to our planet through lithium and other precious metal extraction. The weight of EV's is causing damaging levels of micro plastic pollution which is entering the atmosphere, the food chain and us,basically tyres cannot cope with the weight and torque. They also cossume huge amounts of energy which we cannot either keep on producing or distribute through the grid. And what is the biggest source of CO2 production on the planet, electricity production,26% and still rising and so called green power will not lower that figure.
And by the way £50000 would buy you a 2 year old Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio with 505 bhp,0.60 in 3.5 sec with room for a whole family,a large boot and a crusing range of 400+ miles and well maintained would last you many more years than any car powered by lithium.
If only we leaved on a island with wind water and solar power😅
According to teslabjorns figures, Kia's have the worst battery deg
Getting sick of how many manufacturers are releasing fast EV’s and how much coverage these cars get. If they don’t start introducing a lot more sensibly priced and economical EV’s (Bigger Batteries does not count) then in 10/15yrs time new car purchases will be the preserve of only the very wealthy members of society.
1 year old examples available from £43k according to Autotrader, and still a long way for values to fall over the next 2 years. With Kia's long warranty I'd wait personally as PCP costs are still very high on these.
Seriously? All these EVs will be worth nothing in 5 years time. These ones are just the new shiny toys before the real ones with proper range and quality build show up.
They are worth nothing after 5 minutes. Macklin is selling Nissan leafs at £17k with 11 miles on clock . £29k new
What’s your issue with low priced used EV’s 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Just means we get very good cars for very little money 👍🏻
They are now, a five year old one with battery degraded, new one if not a Tesla (£22K) £8K upwards minimum, what is so overlooked and you have to ask WHY.
By that logic you could never have bought a mobile phone since their invention
Range won't get much better than the current industry maximums of around (claimed) 350 miles. Same reason your smart phone still needs charging every day or two just like it did 5 years ago - battery tech is near its physical limits. The EV6 is actually surprisingly well built.
And the battery is only $56000 CAN.
Not sure which is quicker the 0-60 or the depreciation.
I'll never get over the pricing of new cars.
They all devalue instantly.
If you have money to throw away, open up a gold mine in Afghanistan and hire some children; at least you can make the money back 😂

£50,000 for a family car? Utter bonkers, no wonder people aren't buying them.
Agree it's a lot of money, but it's not really just a family car, it can do 0-100km/h faster than most supercars - take a look at the video of one going around the Nürburgring and decimating dedicated sports cars that would be 3 or 4 times the price. If you just want the ordinary version it's a lot less.
Its mostly 50+ people buying them
A 580hp family car…
@@Beer_Dad1975Well its not any quicker around there than "dedicated sports cars that would be 3 or even 4 times the price" or even about the same price, so I am not sure that comparison is relevant...
@@GoldenCroc Did you watch the video where it's literally passing GT3's like they were Skodas?
These are dropping in value by around £1000 per week at the moment. This was uploaded 2 weeks ago and rather than £50k they are now on forecourts at under £44k. (I know that's not £1000 per week but they weren't actually commanding £50k a fortnight ago).
We're not at (or near) the levelling off of the depreciation curve yet either. Leave it until the summer - they'll be £30k to £35k then.
To be fair it's not only the EV6 GT that's being hit hard - i-Paces and e-Trons are being offloaded at ever-decreasing prices at similar rates.
It sure is a god dam coool motor! Think my $ goin to polestar though 😊
2020 jaguar Ipace now less than 20k.
At least it has an element of design. The Tesla’s are like a Jellybean with wheels with an Argos flat pack Dashboard!
What the point when London say you cant park that thing there , one city with dead sales already
That black paint makes it look so classy 👌
I like it's sibling, the Ioniq 6 a bit more. Even if it doesn't have 600 BHP.
This car is so good that ferrari copied its design for the purosangue
They all are heavy yes. I still think there is a way to prevent it from being so.
Lotus promised 2000 for the Eletre, and it down to...2600 kg in reality, some option make it 2700 or so. I'm not sure they even tried.
Surely by now we can get a composite chassis of sorts that saves heaps of weight? A bit more attention to all parts that move the scales?
No, not really. Its too expensive.
And energy expensive, which pushes the emissions break-even further out. And probably carbon fibre, which is CO2 intensive, and pushes break-even further out again...
Bonus is it looks so much better than the dismal Teslas
At the list price new it is more expensive than a Tesla Model 3 performance, has less range and a crappy sound system. I'd go for the Model 3LR and save a bit more. But as you said there are some people who want 'anything but a Tesla' and in that situation this is probably one to consider.
and with the Tesla you get poor build quality (check the recent Reuters report) poor ride quality and a very cheap interior
But you save 13 grand over one of these, get a decent range and access to superchargers. In the LR there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ride quality (performance is different). But they are a bit marmite.
This looks very nice. 👍🏽
It's £62k isn't it? 😅
I'm definitely not the target audience for this car, so my opinion is probably worthless, but nevertheless I still can't really see the point in it. It's exterior is larger than a traditional hatchback or saloon, but it doesn't seem to be significantly more practical. And the interior doesn't look all that spacious either, but maybe that's the camera angle. Modern car design is just weird, so many of them look like they don't know what sort of car they want to be.
And thats the way customers like it.
The value proposition for EVs to the masses is down the drain.
The value proposition of any new car purchase has been down the drain for many decades!. It's not an EV exclusive thing !
@@SDK2006b I did not say specifically new EVs
It's telling of the car industry at the moment that praise is given to a nonsensical multi use of buttons. "I'm getting cold, let's turn the music up" haha - but I'm sure you'd get used to it (just like if the brake and throttle were swapped over..)
I just don’t get 0 to the national speed limit in 4 seconds why!! I’m sure we all could spend less than £60,000 on a car which be fun to drive and put quite a bit of money in the bank, or if you really want one just wait a bit and you will be able to buy one get one free, the way EV prices are going.
Just stopped by to give a thumbs up as I really enjoy most of your content but no interest in EV's.
You should test the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N soon!
Come on mana! you will be reviewing hoovers and washing machines next.! plop
What’s the efficiency and how much to insure?could you add that to the test review, James?
I think people need a retest for these high powered electric cars, they are too quick for most of the smug txxsers that drive them
Not for or against EVs, so seeing one that isn't fifty feet high, doesn't weigh more than a main battle tank, and isn't as ugly as f***, is a revelation. Well done Kia.
I just hope people do not think the massive power means it is a sports car, it isn't. Show a combination of corners and it will soon say hello to a hedge or tree. That is laws of physics, nothing Kia can do about that.
If we all drove normal-sized cars, weighing ~1,500kg, with a ~150-200bhp engine that can do a genuine 40mpg in real-world driving, with a small electric motor that would do 40 miles on a charge, our personal transport environmental problems would be largely sorted. (And it would be safer for cars/pedestrians we hit.) 40 miles covers most journeys and means a small battery - less pollution from heavy metals.
Most of us could do that. We don’t need pointlessly heavy SUVs/crossovers (you can have an estate for extra space). We don’t need 500bhp in a family car. Or even 300.
And we could still have sports cars, etc. for occasional fun.
The current situation is what happens when you let people selfishly do whatever they want - and allow big businesses to propagandise them through advertising to ‘choose’ to drive needlessly large vehicles.
On top of that, electric vehicles are so much heavier - the latest electric BMW 5 series is 680kg heavier than the petrol equivalent (source: Harry Metcalfe).
And biggest issue is that the government have no intention of improving the charging network because rich people have driveways and garages, so they’ll be fine.
That is the key problem with electric cars - or do you have spare hours a week to ‘fill’ your car?
Electric cars are still the preserve of the rich - the poor will be shafted once they’re forced into them.
The public EV charging infrastructure is improving all the time.
Most take 20-40 mins to charge from 10 to 80%, after 200+ miles (4 hours) of driving. It’s really not an issue, unless you are regularly daily driving 300+ miles.
The majority of people think they need more range than they actually do.
@@SDK2006b I keep hearing differently. I have no experience of it myself.
I don't have a spare half hour for every 200 miles I do. Who does?
@@julianevans9548 : after 4+ hours of driving I’m needing a break anyway. Most people are range limited by the size of their bladder, not the size of their fuel tank.
Well if they’re depreciating that hard they won’t be the preserve of the rich for that long and you don’t need to be loaded to have a driveway!
@@markbennett6658 Tell that to people who live in cheap flats.

KIA knows how to make cars! But they DON'T understand branding.
F me, at £50 big ones, it should be fkn excellent!
Even the base model is a good drive!
£63,000 for a car with manual seat adjustment - and that's good value???
How often are you adjusting your driving seat ?!
Roughly every 7 to 9 minutes.
@@gpholmanwhy are you constantly adjusting the seat??
I have electric seats and I’ve never adjusted mine since I bought it. (The drivers seat that is, the passenger seat gets moved from time to time)
