For all of us speaking metric: This 4.4mi/kWh is 141Wh/km.
Which is 14,1 kWh/100 km (sorry for the stupid unit but that's what my friend's Leaf uses; I get typically 14.0...15.5 kWh/100 km on it on average, and it's a lot smaller car).
The clarification should be: kilometers per kWh. You turned it around, which is fine in itself but it's a different measuring.
Miles is better lol
@@dwightbain8328 metric is superior to imperial
@@jericoba It's typical to measure efficiency in the metric system by telling how much energy (fuel) you use for a certain distance whereas in the imperial system it's typically the other way around. Think "so and so many litres per 100 km" vs "so and so many miles per gallon".
For the first time ever, I am actually considering a sedan for my next car. Well played Hyundai!
Give the exterior profile they should have made this into a sport back. More practical.
Maybe somehow people start realising that the so called SUVs the effciency goes to the dogs with no appriciable improvement in space, if designed properly.
😆😆 its hyuandai youll be forking out thousands in a year or 2 after purchase
@@hahanah1463 what? Hyundai is regularly near the top of ‘most reliable’ lists.
@@hahanah1463 how to say i have a bias and i don't know how manufacturing gets good. big surprise asia does way more manufacturing so they generally are better quality, its only bad when the business buying the manufacturer labour wants to cheap out.
When Johnny Smith left I really thought I wouldn't watch this channel, apart from the episodes with Robert. But having Jack presenting really has reinvigorated this channel. He's got this great way of being informative without being dry. He's got a bit of joviality without coming across as overly silly or at all obnoxious.
Not as funny as Jonny though. I’m still a massive fan of Jonny Smith.
And at least he knows what he's talking about, unlike on the chinese side
And he's cute
Absolutely agree. He’s ace.
@Jebus Hypocristos It's

i’m just back from South Korea after 2 weeks travelling the country, we encountered and rode the ionic 5 &6 pretty much everywhere (cabs) and I have to say it : ionic 6 - what an outstanding perf by hyundai!!!! Absolutely mindblowing / state of the art
Yeah Koreans can be proud
Koreans use ioniq 6 for cabs?
I just got back also, 2week vacation... same experience. now im considering hyundais in my fleet, lol.
@@PAYDAYHEDGE not sure about the 6 but they definitely use 5 as cabs, saw them all over the streets when I was there a month ago

It feels like its been a while since we've had an auto maker do things properly.
Agree. Hyundai is not messing about.
Tesla produces 0 ice cars. Thats one less mistake.
@@huibu8987 im sorry but having one display to control everything in the car as well as relay all information about the car back to the passengers is stupid.
@@huibu8987 Tesla is quickly becoming a bore. Tesla's are great at doing annoying, or dangerous random shit, and smashing every bug they cross paths with. Flat front ends, make for very poor aerodynamics. (Also, quickly damaged finish, because Tesla's are known to accumulate large numbers of splattered bugs, at expressway speeds. Search UA-cam, for examples, and damaged finish complaints after only a couple k miles.)
@@Daniel-tx2vt Actually, it’s fine. It’s one of two things that Tesla does really well. The other being the drivetrain. Everything else is crap.
Drove this car a couple of days ago at Fully Charged Live. Didn't particularly go to drive it, just got to the front of the Hyundai queue and said "what can I drive earliest in the day?". First time driving an EV. I think I just ruined my chances of ever being happy in an EV again - nothing will compare. This thing was utterly incredible. Very planted on the road, fastest acceleration of any vehicle i've ever driven, and all of the tech just worked. Everything seemed well thought out, no gimmicks and nothing unnecessary - everything added to my driving experience and safety. Within a mile I felt utterly comfortable driving it. In short, this is my lottery win car.
I was considering an Ioniq 5. I had concerns because it was a large SUV. I am sooooo thrilled to find out about this Ioniq 6. I have changed my mind already. This car will be be purchased in 2024. Thanks for the candid review.
ionic 5 is large suv ????? where do live dear ? in some european city with narrow roads ?
I really really really love this car. Just like the Ioniq 5. They both have a distinct personality and I love that. The unfortunate thing is that I'm going to need to get myself at least one promotion at work before I can even consider getting either one of these :D
same😂
Fantastic review, again. Jack and the rest of the team have a knack for pointing out relevant and interesting aspects of electric vehicles and presenting it in a really fun and entertaining way. Thanks for this!
This is giving me CLS and Porsche vibes.
No bad thing!
And SAAB 900 in the back.
To me the front half looks exactly like a new Hyundai Coupe would look
Porsche 928 / 944… mit sadly not that good
Yeah CLS / Saab 900 back awesome
First time I have seen one of your car reviews and I am really impressed. You have an easy manner in your presentation which is relatable to us normal drivers. I look forward to more of your reviews.
I subscribed to this channel because of Jack. Watched one video of him and now I’m hooked. Love his reviews and funny gripes about how tall he is🤪
Love the look of the Ionic 6, I drove the Ionic 5 this weekend and loved it! Thanks for the great review Jack.
It looks like a mix between a Saab and a Citroen. I guess it's the perfect car for a architekt.
As an architect, I totally agree with you!
Or a beetle and a merkur love triangle gone wrong. 😀
I thought that when I saw it, there’s a bit of Saab 900 to the rear end.
Citroën C6 as much she would have been modern nowadays with e-tech.
Even the window switches is in the center console like the Saab 9-5.
Great video. Really well scripted and presented along with extraordinarily good production values. Video, music and speech perfectly and artistically synced. Nice 👌
Thanks for your in depth review… love your comments… thanks for noticing so many things that our teams truly “dug deep on”… best wishes from Seoul!!!
As I’m like over 6’2” I watched this with great interest. Great intro to a well engineered car😊

@Guttae right, so just say "over 6'2" ". The "like" is unnecessary.
@Guttae Correct 😀
Best review of the ioniq 6 I have seen yet. Jack is an awesome presenter
Jack is also brilliant! Instead of Fully Charged losing me as a subscriber after Johnny left I now just have two great channels to follow and watch.
Just brilliant, both car and you Jack! Well done!
Very good review. A few points. I think Hyundai/Kia is becoming what Citroen used to be: eye catching and technologically advanced. There’s a hint of the original DS about the back of the 6. I think an estate version of the 6 would be amazing. I think the 6 is very much a cross both visually and spiritually between a Mercedes CLS and the original Ioniq, which was amazingly slippery and efficient. Thanks. Keep the reviews coming.
Maybe thumbs up to an estate version - at half the price! I've said it a million times, tell us the height length and width of the boot, seat up and seat down! Litres is meaningless!
We dont all want suv’s and saloon cars. Build ev hatch back that are large and estate cars
I’ve been saying that for a while now. PSA mostly making fugly suv crap, where Hyundai made the Veloster. Everything is upside down!
@@hamshackleton I found out the litreage (sorry just made that up!) of my old car which had the perfect size and shape boot for my needs and compare others to that. If they'd made this a hatch it would have been practical and pretty. Looks like that boot lid is going to drip water into the boot every time its got wet like the Tesla. Shame even though I'll never afford it. Love my used Hyundai 38kW, not the right size boot but just about working so far. Rarely get less than 5 miles per kWh often get 8!
The snag with low roof aero shapes is the lower rear ceiling height to carry the door frame and hinges. An estate version would be awesome.
Excellent review and a really impressive car. Well done team Hyundai for style, performance and efficiency
Your comment… Bloody Fantastic!!! Says it all - as I listened to this most engaging, compelling and enthralling review of a vehicle that obviously astounds even you. You sold this vehicle to me although I may not be able to afford it at this time - Already! I’ve been watching the previews as this particular model was being rolled out to the public and must say sir, yours is the one that captivates me the most! Again you sold it to me and if I could afford it now I would get it or order it now. The way you pointed out certain small things that others have not is one of the points that caught my attention - thank you, well done! This seems like a very honest and personal review of the Hyundai Ionic 6.
Jack is a great presenter, enjoying his content.
What I really want is an Ionic 6 estate.
To paraphrase Carletti, this Hyundai is the definition of Beautiful, where the summation of its parts works in such a way that nothing needs to be added, taken away or altered. 💚
Love the features, love the design, love the range, love the performance, love the two toned paint… if it were just released a year earlier, I would have taken that over the Model 3.
I like it! Very few people are talking about how Hyundai is setting up to become one of the best EV companies in the world.
Oh, I don't know about that! In the EV world they have had huge respect for a long time and their newer models appear to build on that.
Good review, Jack. I don't know that I totally like the body style of the 6, but "fully" understand why it looks as it does. It seems that maybe now, the model 3 has some real competition. Will be nice to see a real world comparison of the 6 and the 3, some day soon. Good job. And, I like your new personal daper look as well.
Jack’s video helped me decide which one to purchase. Ended up getting the 6. I to am a tall person and fit very comfortably. Love everything about the the car. The one thing not covered in the video is the whirring sound the car makes under 25mph. Once you get over 25 the sound goes away. I recently learned it’s required in North America and was easy to get used to.
I really enjoyed that review! Good job all round.
Besides the car, the video part is very good. I like the photography, the colour, the editing and the sound.
It reminds me of how Citroen used to make luxury cars. Often beautiful design and a different approach to the dominant German manufacturers. This really plays to the strengths of an EV.
This car looks really good and the ride/silence conveys a premium experience. The efficiency just tops it all. I have a Tesla model Y and a new Niro EV - the Niro build quality is better. So I’d have complete confidence in buying this car as a high end EV saloon and know I wouldn’t be disappointed at how it’s screwed together. Add in the 7 year warranty and it’s an automatic short list car if you’re looking for a quality EV saloon. Well done Hyundai.
Buy a Subaru save your self the headache
Great. Enjoyed your review. Cant order here in USA till January but its great getting this information with a production model.
What an entertaining review ! Very well done . Great personality .
I'm currently on a 10 month probation for my new job. Once I get through it my first purchase I'd going to be an Ionic 5. Already saved enough to do it just waiting for that reason to reward myself 🤞🏾
And hopefully there will be a new version by then
I’m holding out for one more year to get an electric because so many new ones are coming out in the next year, but currently, the Ionic 5 is in the lead
@@EdwardsNH ya. Another reason I don't mind the wait is because we seem to be in the era of a lot of new EVs. Giving it a few years for review is not a bad idea. I also really like the Ford lightning and the Honda E.
All the best!
Jake, thank you for a great review. Really nice car. Too rich for me. Your review of the Mircrolino shows my ideal, but those wanting more this is the same vein. Great design and ease of use.
What we need is something between the 6 and the Microlino!
This channels just about the best on cars, and also renewable lining ...
Best wishes from George
Cheers Greg!
You might have to move to China for that.
Nice and well thought out for a change. Make it better each time you do new types- keep what works in all cars and only change on what can be made better or what feature elevates usability.
A good review, with breathtaking Korean scenery. The Ioniq 6 grows on me with each viewing. It would be interesting to compare it more closely with the EV6 as well as the Ioniq 5, however. The EV6 is already somewhat smoother and more aerodynamic than the Ioniq 5, and owners seem to report better efficiency too. What's amazing is to have 4 such distinctive yet similarly sized cars on the e-GMP platform (GV60 included). Hyundai/Kia really are giving customers a terrific choice of relatively affordable world-class EVs right now.
I got 4.50 miles/kWh average over 20000 km (winter+summer; 180 km/h on autobahn from time to time) on my model 3 for comparison.
Good results, better than most, if not all, reviewers I've seen. We will have to see what the Ioniq 6 can do in the real world. The tests should be happening soon.
@@michaelcollier8768 I have no idea what reviewers do as I get 5 miles per kwh easily lol
@@chidorirasenganz You probably drive down hill all the way. ; )

Great vid, and really, really like the 6. Maybe put one on the Christmas list this year 😄
If there was an award for individual UA-cam episodes this, would get a nomination.
Everything brilliant about a Jack rEView plus a superb looking car.
Love the looks and the aerodynamics!! Efficiency is what we should be aiming for
Sure beats the poor aerodynamics of Tesla's flat nosed cars.
@@DetroitMicroSound That makes no sense. Every Tesla model has a drag coefficient of 0.23 or below with the S having a better coefficient than even the Ioniq6 at 0.208
@@LeCrowTV You are seriously trying to tell me that a car with a large area at the front, which is BASICALLY FLAT, HAS LOW DRAG? Uhuh, sure. Tesla's with the larger flat area in the front, are basically BUG SMASHERS. LOOK AT ANY TESLA, AFTER DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN THE SUMMER. Bug splat city.
@@DetroitMicroSound this is not true
@@zigadaboogaDon't take my word for it, search "Tesla Bug Splatter", on UA-cam Plenty of videos demonstrating the problem. Some showing heavily damaged finish. Don't tell me it's not true. My family has 65 years in the trade of body die making, for GM/Fisher Body. We made the dies that stamped millions of car, and truck bodies. We know a thing or two about aerodynamic auto body design. Solid, flat front ends, facing head-on, smash bugs, and create higher drag. It's a fact.
Having owned an original 28kwh Ioniq that was incredibly efficient it's good to see Hyundai going for the same sort of approach here. I think an estate version of this car would be excellent.
Still driving around in our Ioniq 28 and getting insane efficiency - 250km+ range from 28kwh battery! - so can't wait to get into a 6.
Me too but I can't accept that sedan trunk, they should just have given it a large tailgate and I would have bought it
Now I think I will end up with the Kia Niro EV, it's smaller which is fine and with comparable efficiency unless you are driving really fast.
@@joeyjeremiahkkf me too and I'm having a hard time finding my next EV, I just want my Ioniq with a bit more battery and some towing ability and I would be fine!
Brilliant review, as always.
Best review of this car.
I watch it over and over while waiting for mine.
Great video Jack and the crew! I really like the Ioniq 6. It feels like something thats not really comparable to the rest of the automotive world. I know this is a far stretch, but the Lexus LC500 is one of those cars for me. Its in a bubble with no real comparable opponents. They are not bothered with competing with the germans or americans. They are something different, thats on another sphere. Its refreshing and interesting.
Agreed! The LC is one of those cars that has to be seen (and driven… and heard) to really appreciate its uniqueness. No other car on the road like it.
It would be nearer to perfect, if it had a larger tailgate, which would be totally possible considering its form. Which seems to be the only down side, but a big one for me.
Yeah. A non-hatch rear is pretty-much a deal-breaker on an otherwise excellent car.
💯
They should make an estate version.
@@colinbouckaert3450 Well their design chief talked about a potential shooting brake version publicly, but nothing seems to be confirmed, yet.
The ID Aero appears to be better in that regard, at least judging by pictures. I’d still gladly sacrifice some efficiency for an estate version of either car.
Beautifully shot
What a beautiful looking car .
Great review too 😊
my guess would be that there is a pressure sensor in the seat to disable those buttons when someone is sitting there, so those siblings are out of luck.
amazing car again! hyundai is really shaping up to be an incredible electric-car manufacturer!
i kinda hate that i have no use for a car, i love electric cars! :)
Not sure I really like the shape, but the Ionic line in general is a pretty wild and fun series of cars. I'm still just waiting for that N Vision 74 concept to hit production in a few years. I won't be able to stop myself from buying it!
I'm waiting for the Ioniq 6 N. Vision 74 is amazing, but for some reason my mind is wanting the I6N more.
Fab presentation, as always 👍🏻
The visual design of this car is my favorite of any car buy any company in the last 20 years. It is beautiful and cool looking.
It's my favorite of the current gen Hyundai/Kia/Genesis EVs. Strongly considering getting one.
Great video of the fantastic Ioniq 6. I absolutely love the design of it and have great admiration for what the Hyundai engineers have managed to achieve in terms of efficiency. This car is at the top of my wish list (next is Polestar 2, then Tesla Model 3 and finally Ioniq 5) for when the lease on my Hyundai Kona EV lease ends next May. I am desperately keen to get to see one in a showroom in the UK very soon.
If it's as good as you say, (and I've no reason to doubt this), I'm pretty sure the model I'll go for will be the large battery rear wheel drive variant.
If you need to regularly charge on trips, then Model 3 is the only option. If not, then the Ioniq 6 looks like a complete winner.
@@yoric7200 Hi, could you please elaborate? The DC charging of the Ioniq 6 looks impressive. Is the Model 3 better? The numbers I have is that the Ioniq 6 charges from 10%-80% within 16mins with 200kW on average, whereas the Tesla Model 3 would take 27 minutes for the same cahrging process. The reach of the Model 3 is only slightly better, if I understand the available data correctly. I have no practical experience with Teslas.
@@The1337scientist it's not the car capabilities, it's the charging network. Obviously dependent on your country, but I live in the UK. In the UK, if you need to charge away from home, then your only option is a Tesla if you don't want to end up apoplectic.
@@yoric7200 😧Thank you! That makes a lot of sense to me. Where I live, I am highly dependent on public charging stations, because I don’t have the possibility to charge at home (e.g., over night). Luckily, in my area the situation has vastly improved and a lot of new charging points sprouted like weeds 😉 but it is definitely something to consider!
What a fantastic review! Well done, thank you so much for your review! I’m actually considering on buying an electric car.
This is how every car review should be, superb job Jack! I should probably give my Ioniq5 to my wife and get the Ioniq 6N (RN22e) by the way where was that amazing twisty road with amazing views?
As someone with an original (2021) Ioniq Electric, I feel the same way driving it. Always had a heavy foot but getting 5.2 mi/kwh makes me want to try and eek out more. I feel like they tried to go back to the roots of the Ioniq with the efficiency of the 6.
Sweet car and good presentation, though I'm saddened to see you fall for the trend of giant, heavy wheels with rubber bands for tires.
Great review. Great looking car, super efficient, looking forward to seeing US pricing.
Well done Jack! Impressed that a Polestar owner could say that. Fantastic review, lovely duds 🤩
Great to see Hyundai is back in the efficiency game. Just like the Model 3 is seems. We often get more than 4.4 miles/kWh in summer in our Tesla Model 3 LR.
Yeah I usually get 5 miles per kwh

I love this!! Actually looks like a proper car. Not something from outta space👌👌👌
I loved the Ioniq 5 but this, this is exactly what I would have dreamed about. An ultra efficient, coupé style Ioniq 5. I'm gonna buy one.

SO in love that I'm considering to buy it!

Would have love seen CarSceneKorea involved in shooting this video - he's amazing at showing enthusiasm for the vehicles and taking them for a proper sporty drive. I don't mean this as criticism btw, just seeing that given you are in Korea, this was an opportunity to collaborate.
I love the car and will definitely get one.
Besides Jack's brilliant presentation, the video quality (color grading included) of this video is staggering.
Love the Hyundai Coupe vibe of the front end and the way the bonnet creases show its heritage!
Its very reminiscent of the SAAB 96 from the side, and the SAAB 900 from the back 👌 And SAAB's thing was always aerodynamics, so that totally tracks
Omg and the window switches are in the center console and it has transparent trim - it's literally a modern day SAAB, I love it
Came here to say the exact!🙂
The resemblance is out of this world

I still prefer the ionic 5… Space inside any vehicle is important to me, especially on long stints.😊
I love it. Saw it on the Electric car show in Gothenburg.
Excellent reviewer
I saw a Ioniq 6 and a Taycan parked side by side both in white (along with a bunch of Teslas and Mercs) in the charging park a few days ago, and while the Taycan looks more expensive and all that, the Ioniq 6 was the one that I had the most pictures of when I got home. Very interesting design.
if they went for the wild bumper lip design on the prototype design it would be golden. well n version is coming we will wait.
Because you can have 3 Ioniq 6 for the the price of 1 Taycan, ha,ha.
I got mine last month and it’s been a great EV. Fast speed & charge. Free DC (for 2yrs) at my grocery store. My kids love the space. My wife loves the safety & look. I love driving it
He's right. We really needed a major manufacturer to give us a low drag design without the sexy wide wheels that increase friction. brilliant review. I am 6ft 7 inches so really relevant to me.
0.21 CD, I'd like to see such drag coefficient on a smaller 4.4-4.5m car like first-gen Prius dimensions.
i wonder if that would be harder, the big slopey back is going to be helping aero and presumably adding length.
Hey Jack,
Quick question for you: with all the EVs that you've had a chance to look at over the past few months, what has you the most excited or impressed? If you were buying a vehicle in the next 3-6 months, what vehicle would you buy and why? If you'd rather put your name on a waitlist for something not yet available, what would you get?
No budget? i7 looks nice.
Taycan or EQS for me (yes I know one is performance vs luxury but those are my choices if I had no budget).
Jack, very positive review - the "e" word is so important. E for electric, E for efficient, E for environment- thanks, Eamon
Love the look of the whole thing! The car is nice to look at too 🤩🤪
It might be the best car in the world, but it's the same price as a Tesla model 3 long range and until the public charging network in the UK gets its act together then its still the Tesla for me.
Another great review from Jack but did he mention the 800v super-fast charing that the EGMP platform offers? I didn’t hear it. With the ‘6’ offering such levels of efficiency I can see a big market for the ‘small’ battery version. I never drive more than 250 km in a sitting, well within the range even in winter of the 54 kWh battery version when a 10 minute stop to use the bathroom and grab a drink could add another 100 km or more and most journeys are done. If our e-Niro could charge that fast I would happily go for a smaller (and cheaper) battery version.
Well done!
From one tall person to another glad we’ll fit in the Ioniq 6. 😎I’m sold and can’t wait.
Like the rear design. Especially like the rear bumper design. (BTW, you are the best EV presenter on UA-cam.)
I would rather get this one, instead of any Volkswagen EV, which says a lot about how Hyundai's reputation has grown over the last couple years...
Loving my original Ioniq (the 28 kWh model) for it's efficiency - but this car takes it another level
Hopefully Ionic 5 will get refreshing interior design from there upon releasing 2nd Gen and forget their "kitchen" plastic as Jack says 😂
Even tough this is a really nice car, buying an electric car is pretty much impossible for most pockets, i personally believe that the real "revolutionary design" will come in the form of a cheap, compact car with a minimal amount of adas that most people can actually affoard (also remember that here in Europe we're about to hit a recession, in some countries such as Italy most people won't have money for a new car at all)
Average price of the typical new car sold in the US is $47,000
@@tomjanowski8584 question is, how much pay for it outright or is it monthly payments? Because someone's situation can change very quickly, especially with a possible recession and increase in cost of living.
Also, this car is more than 47k dollars.
@@UnseenSpirit monthly payments are becoming unaffordable for pensioners. My pension is drawdown, it's a falling stock market and how am I supposed to prove income if all my money is in savings?
I'm not sure if I really like this or if it's actually Jack's enthusiasm selling me. Looks pretty and seems nice inside too.
The front looks like an old MX3, the sides like a Merc, the rear like a 911 - I love it! 😆
The drawer is better than a glovebox because it makes it easier to get what you want. A standard glovebox has a small opening at the end, which makes it harder to locate specific items, particularly if they are in the forward end of the box. The glove-drawer slides out, making it easier to locate the desired object and retrieve it. The only thing against the Ioniq glove-drawer is that it makes it more tempting to pull things from it while the car is in motion. Other than that, its good.
£55k for a Hyundai? Phew, it's going to have to be good otherwise it could be the death knell for Hyundai. Mind you, the basic Tesla Model 3 is now around £50k and there's thousands on the UK's roads nowadays, so maybe I'm just getting poorer... Brilliantly presented and produced video by the way, thanks Jack.
Shows how overpriced this actually is. Its a nice car but not 55k nice. 45k at most
It is good; we’ve had ours for a year. Model 3 was too small and didn’t tow. Ive done 29,000km and still like it.
"death knell for Hyundai" is a little exaggerated I think as Hyundai just became the third largest auto manufacturer in the world
The ioniq 5 has been sold out in my area since release and they do not offer leasing because all the cars are gone to buying customers.
The 6 would probably be the same, only somewhat equal is the Tesla 3, nothing else is close to it in price or shape.
