I was just reading the Alexandre Dumas Wikipedia page and it made me think of you, he was after-all a fan of the 17th century and it feels like there’s a 21st Century does 17th century through the lens of the 19th century in there somewhere
when you said to pin, pin, pin the curved seam, I immediately had 🎶pin pin pin, pin pin pin, shake yo booty, shake yo booty🎶😂. so the immaturity break just after made me feel not so weird!!!! I bought a gorgeous black fabric with coulorful parrots on it, for a corset. only bought half a metre, since that's all it takes for me. did not even think about the fact that it was a directional pattern, and didn't realise until I had put it together, that I have 3 panels of upside down parrots!! luckily they're spread out and not all together, so thats something😅. still one of my favourite corsets though! so I totally get the problems with directional fabric. especially when you don't want to/ can't buy any more. it's totally understandable that you'd be hesitant after your trauma. when I broken needle shot into my eye, I didn't use a machine for 2 months. so just take you're time and either build up to it, or wait until you've forgotten the trauma, and just go for it. not great advice, I'll admit😂. loved the finished dress. and obviously loved the frolicking. no point having a cottagecore dress like that if you don't frolic in nature!

I was planning to take that 5-7 yds of pretty blue & yellow cotton I've had sitting in my stash for over 20 years & turn it into an 18th-century inspired Robe a la Bernadette, but maybe it needs to be Selkie-ized or inspired by a different era... ? Awesome dress, and the reveal frolic is hilarious. 😂

Tbh, I'm not crazy about Selkie dresses. Most of them have that high waist that I hate 😕 I love your dress SOOO much better!!! It turned out beautifully, and the fabric is gorgeous 😍
LOL it's not that old 🤣 The company unfortunately stopped making fabrics and haberdashery a few years back. It's a shame! I've always really loved the designs. You can still find Cath Kidston fabrics if you really look, but not that one, sadly 😓 Thanks for watching!
Not sure! Cath Kidston is a pretty well known designer of housewares over in the UK (or she used to be, anyway!) It's possible that has bled through into other parts of Europe!
