    P10Q!!! This comparison is awesome thanks! I have the P10R on my bassman ri and they sound awesome in it as well, but then I have the weber 10A100 based on the P10R on an amp and they lack clean sparkle... have the Weber 10A125 based on the P10Q on a Princeton Clone and they are awesome!

    I recently replaced 1 of the P10Q speakers in my 66’ Tremolux. It now has a P10Q and a Falcon. The combination is fantastic. It sounds great clean and now has a strong sound with a drive pedal too. The Falcon was only $50. Great speaker for the $$$....

    I'm a big fan of the P10R, and have three, but I admit that the Q sounded a little fuller, more beefy. I think the R might have a little more cut in the mix with the little extra brilliance, but it would be interesting to hear them in a live situation together to know for sure. My early 2000's Fender "Custom" Vibrolux Reverb combo really cuts through well on medium size gigs with two P10Rs, at 40 watts RMS, so that is why I like them, and it makes the amp sound nice and clean too, very 3D and hi-fi of sorts. I just picked up another one for only $20 in very good condition to put into one of my two Fender Super Champ XDs. I might put an Eminence Ragin Cajun in the other one, but the stock speaker is well broken in and sounds pretty good, having been out to about 30 long gigs over the years.

      @arispap12  5 років тому +3

      Hi! Don't bother with the Emi RC, RamRod etc unless you're playing in a very very loud band. They are good speakers but don't expect the delicacy of light-coned low-powered alnico Jensens. And yes, while the P10R is great in multiple speaker amps, the P10Q is better in every way. I've tried all your options and the Q is the best of them all. Another good choice if you're going for high power is the WGS G10C. That is a fantastic ceramic speaker with vintage tone and a huge punch.

    Anyone compared an old C10Q with the new reissues? I have a 6x10 silvertone with a blown speaker and want to keep as original tone as I can. Are the new ones a waste of time if pairing with old C10Q's?

  • @SuperReverbious
    @SuperReverbious 3 роки тому +2

    You should update it and add the P10R-FEN and the Blackbird 10"

  • @zzubuzz
    @zzubuzz 4 роки тому +1

    I don't hear much difference between the P10Q and the C10Q except the ceramic sounds a bit smoother so that's great news for me
    because I just bought a tweed Bassman that has a quad of c10Qs in it, the guy that sold it to me bought it that way. So far I like how it sounds, and if I could not look inside of it, I'd think they were alnico speakers. Probably the same cone used for both the alnico and ceramics.

  • @DeanMk1

    Someone needs to do a tutorial on how to play that lick. 😁
    Out of all those speakers, I like the Tornado the best. It had the best balance of articulation and bite. It handled everything very well.
    Of course, its a 100w speaker, too, so maybe what I'm noticing is a speaker that's being pushed the least. I believe its the most powerful out of all those examples.
    I could see banks of those powering big "stadium" horns as sound reinforcement.

    I have the 10"Tornado, but I never found out if the 100watt that they claim It to be is for a 100watt peek or overall voltage. Does anyone know? The back magnets seem too small for me

    • @garygustin1717

      I have had one in a tweed Champ. It is on the warm side, which can tame bright single coil sounds. No speaker breakup whatsoever, so it stays tight (as far as the speaker goes...) and full. Pretty good volume also, so it will make the amp louder than just using a little 8” speaker. Also, the speaker has a low profile, so it will fit into a Mojotone sized Tweed Champ cabinet, with a baffle cut to fit the 10”. It will fit using the standard Mojotone 760EX power transformer, and an upgraded Classictone 15 watt SE output transformer. Fyi, it’s a tight fit, but nothing touches each other.
      Another speaker that fits in this situation, is the Eminence 1028k, which has more sparkle than the Tornado. I have this speaker in my Champ now, and it sounds pretty good...

    I have 2 P10q in my 1966 Fender Tremolux... They sound great for clean and light dirt. Side by side vs my 1966 Pro Reverb with original Oxford speakers the P10Q sound more articulate....

    • @arispap12
      @arispap12  7 років тому +2

      I also used to have a P10Q pair in my 72 Vibrolux Reverb and clean it was fantastic until I stepped on the dirt pedal, any dirt pedal for the matter. The highs were buzzy and the mids disappeared from the tone. But yes, clean the P10Q is awesome.

    Years back, I bought four Jensen P10R's and gently broke them in, in my 1964 Super Reverb. They sounded horrid! Could not carry any bottom end through them at all, and they just generally blew. I changed them out for Weber ceramics ... much better.

      I’ve always much preferred P10Qs for the same exact reasons. Not much low end, tiny headroom, small tone. Unless of course you play in a loud band blasting 120db and you just don’t care if your 4x10 is balanced or not. Haha
