Jensen 10" speaker clip comparison - Blues clip
Jensen is kind enough to have audio clips for every speaker model on their website. And that's great!
The problem is that you have to switch page every time you want to compare the sonic differences of the speaker models.
So, what I've done is to place every musical phrase of the official audio clips side by side so we have a better idea on each speaker's sonic character.
I chose lightweight 10" speakers that I could use in my amps:
P10R
P10Q
C10Q
Falcon 10
Tornado 10
This video is comprised of the "Blues" audio clip Jensen is providing for the above speakers.
Enjoy!

4 overdrive pedals for Room 335.
Переглядів 3,8 тис.8 років тому
In this video you will hear the famous "Room 335" theme played through 4 different pedals: Hermida Zendrive 2 Mad Professor Sky Blue Overdrive Jam Pedals Tubedreamer 88 Xotic AC Booster Although they all are pedals of similar design, there are differences in the tone, compression and dynamics between them. Guitar was an impressive Yamaha SA-2200 semi-hollow. Thanks for watching.

10" guitar speakers test: Jensen P10Q reissue Celestion G10 Greenback Amp: '72 Fender Vibrolux Reverb 2x10 combo Guitar: Gibson Les Paul Jr. Special Exclusive (2011) Both of those speakers have low-medium sensitivity. Thus, I was curious to hear how they would sing together in a 2x10 combo amp. the P10Q is alnico and gives the legendary high end sparkle, loose deep lows but seriously lacks midr...

10" Guitar speaker test combination. The speakers: Eminence Lil' Buddy 10" Fender/Eminence V1030 10" Amp: '72 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Guitar: G&L Legacy USA This is one of the best speaker combinations I 've come across for a 2x10 combo. The classic Fender 1030 keeps the twang up there while the hemp cone Lil' Buddy brings surprising full detail in the low end for a 10" speaker. Lil' Buddy actua...

Test of the original version Hermida Zendrive. Equipment used: Guitar: G&L Legacy (single coils) Amp: Fender Vibrolux Reverb Large diaphragm condenser mic into Focusrite 2i2 Thanks for watching! PS: Subdecay Proteus part will be uploaded soon. Stay tuned.
the R sounds quite weak and thin compared to the others.
C10Q held it with the P10* but surprisingly the falcon sounded ordinary... That C10Q is great value... great vid
idk man every time i hear a p10R it always sounds so clean and punchy and glassy
The Tornado sounded better!
Perfect match x 50w !!!
Im really liking the sound of the pr10 paired with a foster horn
I liked C10Q

I tend to pay more attention to players of G&L.. I'm looking for a replacement for the stock G40v Pignose speaker. The Lil Buddy stands out. Thanks for the video.
P10R set. alnico. WARM & TRUE to touch. Can't be any better unless you want extreme metal.
Nice playing and sound. I successfully paired two LB’s and two Eminence alnicos (1028?) in a Super Reverb. Very smooth and balanced sound that I love.
To bad. I like to compare clean sound. Not distorted.
These are just the sound clips jensen uses themselves on their own website... i was hoping to hear and see aome actual speaker testing and not some copy and paste thievery...... careful too, this could be a copyright issue too... i hope i am completely wrong tho
Try the Vtype 10, you won't regret it.
P10Q.
P10R for me. Clearer all around.
P10R ... C10Q close second....
This is the exact speaker pairing and application I am considering, similar playing style too. Thanks for making this.
Aaaah good 10" speakers with Gibson P90 🥰
The falcon sounds less dark in person. Has a nice chimey top.
P10R. I got one in Princeton, It took a while to break in but now I would't change it for another(unless it blows in which case I can get another). I saved a bit if time by simply using the amp as a hi-fi to listen to music (phone and minijack-1/4 inch jack) so I could speed up the break in time and it helped a lot.
P10R sounds perfect at this end!
I like the Jensen p10r and the p10q. They look the same but the Q has smoother top . I put a p10r in a champ ti replace a stock 8" and now it blooms with depth and warmth.
this vid finalized my decision to put a lil buddy in my frontman 25R.. also your playing is terrific. thx all around.
Thanks
Would love to hear it! i've been pondering putting one in my 25R- is yours the MIM black grill or the 2nd version?
@@JonRaffety it's the second version, looks like the 60's blackface amps... i tried to record some on my phone tonight but it sounds like garbage without good recording equipment. i chose the speaker because the original was way too trebly for me. this took the edge off that but it's still brighter than i like. bass response is pretty good, though. my main gigging amp is an old '54 fender tweed pro with a 15" speaker and just volume and tone, so it's a midrange monster. in comparison, most other fender amps sound too bright for me.
@@jeffstanhope4335 Cool!!! I just picked up a almost mint 25R newer version this morning & am pondering which speaker to upgrade with, so thanks for the info!!! just watched a few vids- sadly there's not vary many out there- I bet your gig rig sounds amazing!
@@JonRaffety very happy with it overall, considering it's a small solid state rig. I use it for a couple of outdoor shows I do each summer where I don't want to risk taking the tweed pro, and club gigs in very small rooms. My practice amp with the band is the frontman 15r, and it sounds pretty good too. I think you could do a lot worse for the price point. Hope yours works out as well
The Falcon 10 sound like Celestion
These are the clips take from their website, just put back to back. I think jensen could have done a better job on the recording music style, but at least you get an idea of tone vs tone for a few of their speakers. The Jensen Jet Falcon is super under rated as a great speaker.
Anyone compared an old C10Q with the new reissues? I have a 6x10 silvertone with a blown speaker and want to keep as original tone as I can. Are the new ones a waste of time if pairing with old C10Q's?
I like the 1st speaker the P10r in a small combo. 10-15watts drives it well. Have'nt tried in a solid state combo yet.
Wonderful tone
Usually not an Alnico fan, but I have to say the P10R came off very pretty in this comparison. I like the C10Q, too.
Someone needs to do a tutorial on how to play that lick. 😁 Out of all those speakers, I like the Tornado the best. It had the best balance of articulation and bite. It handled everything very well. Of course, its a 100w speaker, too, so maybe what I'm noticing is a speaker that's being pushed the least. I believe its the most powerful out of all those examples. I could see banks of those powering big "stadium" horns as sound reinforcement.
Thanks to this vidéo, My top 3 : P10Q , C10R, P10R, on this order
Where are the MeTaL clips for Jensen 10" speakers? i would be happy to play them for you.
Thank you for this comparison. It's great to be able to window shop for tone ideas without spending thousands of dollars and hours trying out new gear! I've been wanting to change from 4X12's to 4X10's because of the tighter midrange tone and clarity. I like the Alnico magnets more than the Ceramic ones. Alnico seems to be more clean even with more aggressive attack.
I have a pair of P-10R in a '59 Bassman Tweed clone. They sound incredible.
Good for a small 5 watt amp too? I like the chime!
P10Qor P10R with Tornado a bassier but high quality option.
Ten inch speaker great to make a big noise beautiful cone's
I always like the P10 R the most but the P10Q is quite good too. P10R just sounds the most vintage tweed.
The R definitely sounds thinner especially after hearing the others.. sounds great and will probably end up with one. But, the Q sounds pretty good too..
I have a custom built '59 Bassman replica with (2) P10R and it's awesome.
Top combo Aris! Excellent phrasing, above all, bravo!!! Μπράβο Άρη εξαιρετικός συνδυασμός τον είχα σκεφτεί κι εγώ αλλά δεν τον έκανα ποτέ, τα oxfords έμειναν μέσα τελικά.
Thank you man!
I have a Gibson Skylark with a Jensen Jet. Sounds great when it breaks up.
Years old, but "outstanding work". This gives a real side by side on these and the differences are clear. Thanks,
Very good job! Thanks
Very good job! Thanks
C10q
Gorgeous playing
Extremely well orderly done demonstration. My opinion is shared with P10R and P10Q which both are outstanding in this bunch with detail and sing. P10R is always 5db quieter so it is hard to tell the difference to P10Q unless spending an hour or so to normalize the clips.Well I did it and at same volume P10Q is more detailed and more front man than P10R and mostr importantly less icepicky. P10Q is the best thing ever and Thomann is not selling it. Shit happens. Most important thing for the speaker for this style is to keep the chime and not let it ice peak. Those are at different frequency ranges. Icepeak is at 2000-3500hz and chime at 5000-6500hz. For C10Q and Falcon 10 the last riff tells huge difference.
NOT TRUE ! The P10R and the P10Q are nearly even loud sensitivity around 93-94 db 1W/1M. If Thomann does not sell it , TubeAmpDoctor does !!!!
@@joseceraia Which part is not true? I did not mean to be offesive and I was not. All I meant that on this demonstration they are different. Maybe just the input level has not been same in mic preamp. By now I have got two of P10Q 8ohms from UralTone. Recommended.
@@KetogenicGuitars You wrote that there is 5dB difference between P10R and P10Q and that is NOT correct. They are nearly equal in SPL
@@joseceraia I did not mean that the drivers have different sensitivity. My notion was about the clips themselves. You see that is very much different thing. My information is not offending. It was a notion to help people. I ended up to download all the clips from Jensen site and made the Cubase project and normalized all the clips to be in 3db range from each other. Then I was able to compare apples to apples. I liked P10Q most. That is my opinion - not the fact.
Don´t worry Youka :-)
Gosh great comparison. I opted for non of them. But nice to hear such a great review
Top job Aris!!!
