The C10R is a fantastic/perfect sounding speaker for the PRRI. Only issue is the bass flubbing at high volume. The Eminence 1058 Legend took care of that issue and is louder and warmer. The smooth Celestion G10 Greenback is another well suited speaker for the PRRI. I now have a P10R; I’m loving this whole new world of Alnico.
Great video and enjoyed your playing style... Just ordered the Jensen Ceramic C10R, as I am into the 50s and 60s tone and this speaker fits that style just right. So many speakers, nearly went with the 10 inch M Greenback, then heard this and nearly cried, this sounds like the one I been searching for. So excited, by this speaker :)
Thank You Chay!! I think that Jensen speakers are a perfect match with Fender blackface amps and a perfect choice if you want to achieve a "vintage sound". I love them both. 👍 A friend of mine owns a Deluxe Reverb Blackface with an Alnico Weber speaker, not bad... but I strongly prefer the Jensen tone!
@@Steve.Martini So hard picking the right guitar speaker when cash is short, I was looking at a Alnico blue, costing 4 x more then the Jensen C10R. I watched your video after I paid for the Jenen C10R and felt I made the right choice hearing you play something I could relate to and demostrated the speakers voice without overloading it with over drive, you let each string play out of this speaker, good job :)
@@ChayBode Believe me! you cannot go wrong with a C10R ;) You will not be disappointed with this speaker, good quality @ reasonable price! Let me know!
@@Steve.Martini My Deluxe Reverb clone came with a P12N (Italian Jensen), which sounded great, but when I put a Weber 12F150 (light dope 50 watt) in the amp sounded MUCH better. Maybe I'm using speakers that have voice coil size and magnet weight too large for this amp? I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to use them, and want to try speakers with smaller voice coils and magnets, like in this video.
Thanks for this. I am going to get a P10R and swap it out just because I can. The C10R tends to go flabby in the bass at higher volumes and I am hoping the P10R doesn't do that. My now departed '59 Bassman had 4 P10Rs in it and it sounded glorious. Made my ears bleed at anything above 4 and gave me a hernia hauling it around, but sounded glorious.
Very interesting and helpful! I have both the P and C in various sizes from 6 inch to 12 inch, but I've never done A-B comparisons like this using the same amp/cab. I like them both. Initially I thought I would prefer the P but living with both I have to say I like them equally but they definitely sound different. I find I like the P at lower volumes whereas the C can be pushed much harder, even might sound better when pushed.
My assessment is that the C10R does everything the P10R does with a little more high frequencies. I suggest saving some $$$ and using the high frequency knob.
Thanks for this! Putting the same speaker from the hand wired 64 version in the 65 was my plan. Do you have any other speakers you wanted to put into the 65?
I left mine totally stock = gorgeous, glassy, chimey Pristine Fender Clean's. That amp is phenomenal. I can get: SRV, Gilmour, Trower, Knopfler and Nile Rodgers tones . . . my Search is Over !!! oNe LovE from NYC
@@Steve.Martini I've had Marshall 1/2 stack, Hiwatt, Carvin, Fender Super reverb 180 watts - playing in a Rush/Police tribute band. @@michael_caz_nyc Yes! Having an heavy and powerful amp is totally useless if you play in small clubs where everybody ask you to turn down the volume knob! 🤣 I've a Vox Ac30 with Blue Alnico that I never moved from the rehearsal room since I got the Princeton
I have both and i find the C10R is more suitable for a single low watt combo because it breaks up nicer where the P10R has a lot more headroom. The P10R is more suitable if you want total clean. I play two P10R in a four speaker cab though along with a P12R and a C12R.
As with any speaker' An EQ pedal will change the tone of a speaker. Too many people swapping out speakers when a cheap $30.00 EQ pedal will get them the tone their looking for using any speaker.
To put it simply; to my ears, the P has more mids and just a tiny bit less highs than the C. I personally prefer the more 'chimey' nature of the C. As for flubby bass, 1) I don't like to push the amp past its sweet-spot. So I never have that problem. And since the speaker can have such a drastic impact on the total tonal nature of the amp, if I like the speaker enough, but did have a flubby bass problem, I would likely swap out a capacitor or two in the signal chain of the pre-amp instead (which is where that issue starts anyway). (That's just the kinda guy I am - :-) ) After all that; I am a huge fan of the C10R - which sounds even better mated to a Class A SE amp.
I am buying a P and I will alternate it with C. when the P is active I will put the blue light on the amp, the stock red light when I use the C. I know, I am mentally ill 😄
@@Steve.Martini no i dont have, i just change the speaker on my combo amp. Im not able to make videos but i can give my opinion in the comments of yours 😀.

Two not-so-different good tones, definitely the C is the primary choice. I could say that it's not a causality that Fender put it in the Princeton as a stock loudspeaker! 😄

G10 Greenback is a great speaker but imo not suited to the Fender /American sound
Eminence 1058 is a 75 watt speaker - their 1028 is 35 watts, a more robust P10R copy getting rave reviews.
Neither! Put the p10q in there.
The P10R is less boxy and has a more open top end. We opted for an Eminence 1028K as our alnico speaker of choice. Nice demo, well done.
