@@MyPrideFlag Well, If you want to be pedantic, then USSR was pseudo-communist, while Poland was... I honestly do not even know what to call it. It was half socialist half "something", because of the pseudo-communists in the east.
The movie was full of political allusions. For example, in the scene where they leave the tent with a false, painted landscape and then walk along the seashore - Maks points out and says: "Direction - east. There must be some civilization there". Everyone in the cinema was laughing because it was obvious that there was the Soviet Union in the east and not any civilization. Censorship missed it initially. The movie was withdrawn from cinemas for a while and returned with the changed text "Direction - over there. There must be some civilization there".
are you hinting that one of the largest super powers in the world which also rose to fully industrialized civilizations under a century while facing 2 major world wars and a constant cold war is actually uncivilized ? i feel like since this movie was released in 1991 (same year as the illegal dissolution of USSR) the movie should have been withdrawn by angry pro dem liberals and or capitalists for the USSR being pointed as civilization.
Except for the 'battle of the sexes' part, this is remarkably similar to Philip K. Dick's story 'The Defenders'. This story has also been used as part of a Doctor Who serial; 'The Master of the World'. I have seen too few Polish films, would like to find this one.
I think you are referring to "Enemy of the World" starring Patrick Troughton were there is a society of young people living underground because they were tricked into thinking there was a nuclear war above.
Why do I feel like this is gonna be extremely accurate in 2044 Edit: Just want to point out the comment section went from a couple opinions to full on discrimination warfare. You have been warned.
An absolute classic, though I wouldn't be surprised if some things would be considered (not-so-harmless) stereotypes today. Anyway, the movie is really fun. It was quite bold for the time of its release (mind that nothing was censored in the actual film) and - like many s-f films and books released during that time - it contains a half-hidden critique of soviet totalitarian system (for even more direct critique, you should watch "Kingsajz").
@A M There is ton of auto-censorship. Michal admitted so himself with "would be considered (not-so-harmless) stereotypes today" As if the entire movie isnt big middle finger to such thinking.
@A M what the fuck you are talking about? Since many many years every year Polish movies are nominated to the Oscars. And some of them even got Oscars. Check „ Ida”, „ Cold war”, „ Corpus Christi - Boże ciało”, „ sala samobójców Hejter” all rhese movies had excelent reviews both by critics and viewers
I am highly recommending it. If you are from East Europe or have roots in that region, loves atom- or nuclearpunk, and are obsessed with the Fallout series (like me) then this movie is for you. The movie will certainly interest you if you like wacky actions scenes, witty dialogues & jokes filled with 70s eroticism then you will be a fan instantly. Or if you are just a classic hipster, a so-called cultured snobby schmuck who wants to flex about art and east European cinema culture in front of his/her family, friends or coworkers (to possibly drive them crazy) then this movie is a good material to add to your collection.

@@observeoutofthebox7806 What are you talking about? The movie got released in 1984; an intentional Orwell reference.

It's called Seksmisja, or translated as "Sex Mission", it's an anti-Soviet classic there
Tbh, I think this is also similar to the manga *World End Harem*. Though not sure on what that manga is based
One of the best movies from my country getting recognised in other countries. Heck yeah

>Underground bunker full of futuristic tech
>A house with just the basic necessities: *filled with modern tech*
Modern for the guys and their time.
I think you should cover Solaris, Stalker, or The Man of Marble, as I see you kinda enjoy polish and Russian mystery movies
Yeah movies like these are pretty underrated.
I watched Tarkowski's "Stalker" three times so far, and every time I discovered something new. It is a great movie, Tarkowski was a genius.
Also "Na srebrnym globie" (On the silver globe)
What are those about?
Also underrated Korean movies like Peppermint Candy, The Gangster The Cop and The Devil, The Yellow Sea, A Single Rider etc.
A recapped version of "Kingsajz" would be interesting.
Yeah, Kingsajz is amazing movie
@A M There is ton of auto-censorship. Michal admitted so himself with "would be considered (not-so-harmless) stereotypes today"
As if the entire movie isnt big middle finger to such thinking.
Or if you are just a classic hipster, a so-called cultured snobby schmuck who wants to flex about art and east European cinema culture in front of his/her family, friends or coworkers (to possibly drive them crazy) then this movie is a good material to add to your collection.
watching this video made me remember of that talk from extreme feminist about how a society with only woman would be a paradise. It's funny how a troll movie is relevant to today world
@@MarcosAlexandre-no3qx indeed. One of the biggest puns or plot twists of the movie is that this utopia is runned by a dude who is disguised as a woman. I wonder in that “utopia” by extremists would be also guy on the very top? I would not be suprised if yes. 😂 Would be damn hilarious 🤣🤣

Welcome to polish cinematography. We had a few really good shots. Most quoted sentences:
- Kopernik była kobietą!
- Może jeszcze powiecie, że Skłodowska-Curie była kobietą?
which translates to:
- Kopernik (known polish scholar who proved that Earth rotates around the Sun, not Sun around the Earth) was a woman!
- And what else? Maybe you'll say Skłodowska-Curie (famous polish chemist, actually a woman) was also a woman?
Always thought her name was marie curie. Also the only female scientist i know from top of my head so that line is indeed funny.
