I’m worried about performance as well. But, yeah magic/combat/exploration in the open world is my other biggest interest. Hope it’s done well. Gotta wait for reviews I guess.
I'm really hoping for mod support on this. As has been the case with so many open-world RPGs by now, there is always something that the community can improve upon or add onto that resonates with most players, if given the chance to do so. Things like expanded character creation and custom mounts, brooms, outfits and so on are what I think will likely be the more popular mods, if it does have support for it. Otherwise, worst case scenario, community patches and bugfixes if some things happen to be super buggy or broken. (Looking at you, Bethesda.)
Looks awesome, I can't wait. I will say I think the minimap would be more beneficial than a compass in this game. It makes sense in Elden ring since its mostly open, but with Hogwarts it seems like a lot of indoors so a Minimap makes more sense over a compass. I think it looks like a great game. I'm a bit glad I'm not going to be forced to do anything with time limits and can explore as I please.
Either the compass or the minimap - none of them work. Nobody uses a compass anyway and the minimap steals your sight away from the things that are actually happening before you.
Hello Falcon! I’ve worked at GameStop for about 4 months now and when a new AAA game comes out, we have “quizzes” for each one. More so we know what to tell customers, who makes it, when it comes out, etc. I’ve watch many of these before I was an employee at GameStop, but now I have even more joy watching it because I learn from you guys and spread the word. It helps my coworkers and I so much. Thank you Falcon and Gameranx, I’ve been watching your channel since I was in 6th grade, I’m a freshman in college now 😅
Thank you for not cancelling Hogwarts Legacy as other game media did (it is pointless, no matter the way you look at it). We appreciate that and value your excellent work even more!
I'm going to wait a bit before buying this game just in case there's any issues on release. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Just seeing how far HP games have some from the philosophers stone I played on my potato 20 years ago is pretty exciting. This is something I always wanted from the franchise.
As people should be doing. Especially if it start off like Callisto Protocol, and initial release of Cyberpunk which apparently people didn't learn that even a big and good reputation devs like CDPR can blunder, of course with publisher's influence. Fortunately, they did release patches quite fast for Callisto and it's running great now.
@@SchifferThe2nd 100%. Nothings guaranteed until you're actually sitting there trying to play the game. That's great they patched Callisto Protocol, not my cup of tea but I know a lot of people were super hyped and pre-purchased it. With such an ambitious project like Hogwarts Legacy, there's a chance it's gonna need kinks smoothed after the initial release.
One thing I want to know is how many secrets there are (Not the exact amount, just whether there's a lot) because having the magical castle with barely any secrets would be a massive missed opportunity. Part of the old classic games was how many secrets there were and they were always exciting to find. If there isn't many, or theyre very predictable or repetitive, itll be a big shame.
I wish I was into Harry Potter. This game looks soo cool. Id like something like this for Star Wars. Being a padawan living and attending classes in the Jedi temple. The going on mission with your Master during the clone wars or something along those lines
Give it a shot, you might like it since it’s based on a character you make and your story instead of playing through the Harry Potter story line, just think of it as a wizard game not a Harry Potter game🤣
Just imagine the madness if there were Quidditch tournaments played online and it was really fun to score for your House/Team and able to taunt opponents or being one of those bludgers!
@@PuurJarrett Create the Quidditch mechanic so that houses have different perks and people have to choose their house not just based on house preference but also perks and benefits. Because we don't have Quidditch yet I can't really come up with any ideas, but if they add a Quidditch system that enables houses to have certain perks or traits then population control could be self regulated, maybe even dynamic, changing over time, seasonal.
Awe maannn I'm so bummed there's no Quiditch and school system. The open world looks cool but I was hoping they'd go more in depth with the classes and actual castle, like secrets with the changing stairs room or the library. The first few movies focus heavily in the internal environment before branching out to wider regions and bigger social impact in the later films.
Been watching gameranx for a few years now and it's crazy how the boys are constantly getting better at doing these vids/recording engaging talks, Falcon honestly sounds like a whole different man from earlier videos - way more energetic, sounding a whole lot more confident, and it might just be my perception but the man just sounds like he's overall way happier and comfortable than he used to, which makes him really enioyable to listen to. I hope that he is indeed a happy man, really appreciate him, Jake and everyone involved in the finest video games channel on this platform. Godspeed to all of you guys! I’d love access to Diagon Alley and Nocturne Alley, Godrick’s Hollow, and the Entire Ministry of Magic and Department of Mysteries. They could make it open world by having a secret Entrance to the Ministry of Magic in Hogsmeade, and then Diagon alley and Godrick’s Hollow could simply be rooms in the department of Mysteries that mimic a possible future or the past version of those locations. And maybe have it flickers between the two. The department of mysteries could allow you to see prophecies of other characters, additional lore and stories, and all sorts of other strange rooms and such.
I am so impressed with how much thought love and care was put into the development of this game. I need Avalanche to make more games like this. They should do LOTR Star Wars and more
Only thing I would've wanted was starting at the beginning and playing through your whole student career and doing all the years. Excited to see potential DLC things they come up with
I'm so glad the game isnt a school simulator. It kind of shocks me that some people wanted that. I for one do NOT want to re-live school, even if it's a magical one
This game looks pretty good from the little amount I’ve seen I really think the combat will make or break this game that’s also assuming that exploration is fun since it’s such an interesting world being Harry Potter and all
Pretty sure they're playing it safe with the combat like other Warner Bros games, it's the well established Arkham system just like Mad Max and Shadow of War for instance.
That meter at the bottom doesn’t control how high you can go. They said in the video it’s your boost and when you’re low to the ground it doesn’t use up but when you’re up high it does so you can’t boost up high for very long.
I would love to be able to cast spells on the students and other npcs. It could even be harmless spells like levitating them, summoning them, freezing, etc. We would not even need to be able to hurt or damage them. It would be an easy mechanic to add considering it’s already in use on most animals.
I love how stupid Google keeps showing me how people are boycotting this game and "everybody hates it" and it's so controversial. Yet it's the most pre-ordered game on PlayStation and it's a monster seller. So much for the boycott, nerds
Upfront, honest devs, no microtransactions. These are good omens. Crossing my fingers for this one because it has a lot of room for growth/setting a market for more games like this.
I love the mini map I hate the compass it just doesn't give enough information when trying to find something on it. And it makes sense in Hogwarts Legacy cause we've seen magical maps before in the wizarding world. So can't wait to play this game 😀
I was hoping the game would give you a personality quiz that would determine your house, but I suppose you can just go with your pottermore account if you want to be that immersed
If you have a Wizarding World account, you can link your accounts. Whatever is on your account will transition to the game. There is a sorting quiz on the Wizarding World website.
I'm hoping that there are a series of events that take place before the sorting. And in those events, we make choices that determine which house the hat will sort us. Of course we would still have the option to override that decision. Sorta like how in Fallout New Vegas, you get asked a series of questions by the doc and based on those choices is how your skill points are spent, but you can reset them to your preferences if you so choose.
Well at least you can enjoy the cozy comfort of the game, then go outside and take a nice Spring walk through nature, and then back inside and enjoy the game, and maybe take a walk at night. During the weekends at least. That's a fun way to enjoy games during the warmer months imo.
@@brandonchutt312 Ah immersion ruined! Not everyone is pale white argh!! Honestly that is probably the ONE thing you should learn to accept is just going to change with many franchises.
@@brandonchutt312 I'm pretty sure that magic, wizards, living paintings, flying brooms, dragons, goblins, hippogriffs, thestrals, magic wands, levitating spells, wizarding schools and magical hats that decide which house you belong to didn't exist in the 1800's either, so your rant about "rewriting history" doesn't really have any validity, does it? Especially considering that you followed up your rant by stating that you're "living in the real world". Rowling's wizarding world is not the real world, and you're also talking about a video game. You could just have written "Hey, I don't like non-white people. How dare they taint my fantasy by including those types?" and be done with it.

I wasn't going to buy this game. But after the crazies said you're transphobic if you buy it, I've preordered two copies. One for me and one for my friend who likes Harry Potter.
It's just gone too far bro they try to tell us what jokes are funny, what to buy, who to like, it's insanity. All while they look down on us from their moral high horse while wearing clown make up
I hope taking care of the magical beasts will be like KH 3D's dream eaters' daycare situation and we'd get perks by building a relationship with them.. That would be awesome!
you can name then, feed them play with them to build trust and make them feel comfirtable and that benefits you by them providing you with beast materials you can use to craft so it has benefits :)
i was really hoping for a complex hogwarts castle, it would be so cool that you could spend a lot of time in there solving puzzles and getting lost between the huge hallways and forbidden rooms. At this point, ill be happy if its more than an interactive big menu. EDIT: Also, the combat seems too easy, if you are surrounded by multiple enemies they seem like they are waiting for you to finish with one of them before the next one comes...
Uhhh bro u living under a rock or what, This game has atleast 100 Merlin puzzles, not to mention the Dev's already confirmed that there will be a lot of hidden chambers, passageways and also a lot of dungeons. As for the combat so it only "seems" easy. In the hands on preview for this game , the gamers said they were struggling even on normal mode.
Getting rid of quidditch is one thing, but they could at least include the "Original Sports Competitions" of the wizarding world that we saw in the Goblet of Fire. But who knows. Seems that they feel that the vast amount of opportunities for an individual to prove themselves through explorations and social trials compensates for activities that could have come from things like that.
It's a shame there aren't as many life sim elements. I think they pair well with RPGs and keep the intrinsic value up, but I'm shocked this looks as good as it does from my original skepticism.
The SMILE on my face right now. I'm getting the Switch version but it'll be worth the wait because I'll have something else to keep me preoccupied until then.

@@WOLFPACKGAMING738 tbh I would go do some research on it, alot of developers want to get permission to stop making it required to put out games with Xbox s in mind because you have to make games run on all next generation consoles at a minimum of 30 frames and 1080p and the Xbox s is bearly able to do that. Causing games to come out buggy and just trash. Look at Gotham knights
Considering you said the game has multiple endings, I do hope the game let's you continue after the ending. Some games, such as New Vegas, The Outer Worlds, Dying Light, Bioshock, most other story focused games, they end after the main quest is finished. Either because your home world is destroyed, important characters die, or you as a character change inreversably. I hope that is not the case. Most games I enjoy more when there's some post game content to play with. DLC quests, tournaments, collectables, respawning enemies, events with unique rewards, stuff that keeps you coming back. Also hope there will be a minigame within the game. What I mean with that is a minigame similar to Gwent in The Witcher. Some kind of game you can play with/against other characters, collect cards to improve your deck, play tournaments, something to do after or besides the main quest.
@Falcon anyone who pre-orders the game, on any platform, gets a hippogriff mount. But you gotta pre order. An that's any version of the game pre ordered too. 👌 Also, figured I'd mention that you can breed the beasts. Ya it's like tomagachi.
@Vivi Siow get what? The black onix hippogriff? Maybe. I know we can breed but they didn't say how hard it would be to get a onix one bread. Which I imagine you'd hafta to do to get a none white one. Either way, its a free mount for everyone to " start" the game out with just for pre ordering. Falcon didn't mention that. So I figured I'd tell him.
Why is no one talking about the fact that Harry Potter fan club gives you the ability to be sorted into a house legitimately as well as be chosen by your own wand properly????
Really looking forward to this one, but also cautiously optimistic about it, something about the way most of the player characters they've shown just look weird to me, like the graphical quality of them doesn't match up with the rest of the game, I don't really know how to explain it. Hope it's good, and hope it comes to Gamepass on PC. Till then I'll probably wait to hear what people are saying before picking it up. And even if it's good, I'll probably wait for a sale anyway if it doesn't end up on Gamepass... I've got enough of a backlog of games as it is.

I'm going to wait a bit before buying this game just in case there's any issues on release. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Just seeing how far HP games have some from the philosophers stone I played on my potato 20 years ago is pretty exciting. This is something I always wanted from the franchise.
I remember playing Harry Potter on PS 1 when I was a kid and I got scared to fight the big spider lol what a day
As people should be doing. Especially if it start off like Callisto Protocol, and initial release of Cyberpunk which apparently people didn't learn that even a big and good reputation devs like CDPR can blunder, of course with publisher's influence. Fortunately, they did release patches quite fast for Callisto and it's running great now.
@@Vandy-- oh yeah! I remember that was pretty scary hahaha.
That's the sensible approach, sadly, too many people pre-order, which rewards devs that don't care about fixing games.

Maybe you would like it as a good open world. If it holds on its own, you may not need to be a fan of the franchise to enjoy the game.
Or a next-gen KotOR. That’d be awesome.
Give it a shot, you might like it since it’s based on a character you make and your story instead of playing through the Harry Potter story line, just think of it as a wizard game not a Harry Potter game🤣

So damn psyched
Just imagine the madness if there were Quidditch tournaments played online and it was really fun to score for your House/Team and able to taunt opponents or being one of those bludgers!

Would be pretty unfair because players can choose their house and some will be in the definite minority
@@as7river but then it would stand apart from the main game and therefore be a different thing entirely right
Awe maannn I'm so bummed there's no Quiditch and school system. The open world looks cool but I was hoping they'd go more in depth with the classes and actual castle, like secrets with the changing stairs room or the library. The first few movies focus heavily in the internal environment before branching out to wider regions and bigger social impact in the later films.
Hopefully Quiditch will be added in an expansion.

That meter at the bottom doesn’t control how high you can go. They said in the video it’s your boost and when you’re low to the ground it doesn’t use up but when you’re up high it does so you can’t boost up high for very long.
