The Pot!!! I would put it on repeat nonstop, I was obsessed with it that I didn't listen to the other tracks. But gradually overtime I took in all their songs and are now my favorite band of all time
I think once you get into TOOL there is no going back. The depth and the intricate work they put into there music is incredible. I have been addicted since 98 or so. I can’t remember the first song that got me hooked. But I remember buying undertow and it changed my life. The wait for new music has been so painful. I literally cried a bit when got the album in the mail and when I listened to pneuma. Words fail to describe what this band means to me I guess. Thank you for sharing this wonderful music with other people.
Oh definitely, their art is hard to deny! Music they created has a lot of re-listenability value due to the intricacies of their instrumentals and lyrics.
I’m OGT. The first Tool song I heard was on a peel sessions sampler that had Dead And Bloated from STP and before they were even signed to a major label. The tape had “Part of Me” and “Opiate” on it as well as some new helmet material that would be on Betty. Didnt even make it home from the record store. Turned around and went back and bought Opiate. Got every single one of their following albums at midnight of their release dates. I was there when they recorded the live alternate version of Pushit that was released on the Salival box set. In March of 2018 I flew from SLC, Utah where that track was recorded to Detroit and kicked it with the band minus MJK and plus about 50 other Toolheads. Tickets were $500. The whole trip cost me around $1200 total. In 2015 I drove to Phoenix to see them play with Primus on Halloween. I waited until Midnight to listen to Fear Inoculum on its release date and bought the box set. When it came in the mail, I didn’t even open it. I was pretty disappointed in their last record. For the previous 13 years MJK was on a mission to turn everything he touched into a version of Puscifer. It’s just not my thing. Unless MJK commits to Tool, I think I’m pretty much over them. Ænima is my favorite record of theirs and likely will remain that way. My favorite artist right now is Aesop Rock. Best record I’ve heard in the last 10 years is his latest “Spirit World Field Guide.” He does all the things I love about Tool but in the medium of hip hop. He’s probably the only actual “genius” making music right now that I’m aware of.
Damn! You've been there since the early days... lucky! Sad to hear you could not connect to their last 2 records. FI did not click with me as well and Aenima is also my favourite record. That thing is hard to top! Listened to Aesop Rock he's pretty good! Ehm if you have not seen my documentary on Undertow you should check it out! I think you'd enjoy it!
@@saysthemanbehindthemask I did check it out. I just found your channel today and have been BINGE watching it. I hope you make that documentary, man. I’ve spent pretty much all day today watching and digging your content. I 100% agree with your assessment of FI. Yes, it’s good but it’s not a profession of Tools music. It’s good by any other metric. I really liked what you had to say about The Last Of Us Part II as well. I think you were fair and charitable with it. Personally, I’d give it a 9 out of 10 rather than a 6 or 7, but I’m not a gamer. Just a fan of specific games like Red Dead and TLOU. I’m judging it on a meta scale. That game put me in another mind set. I hated it but I realize the game is all about hate and it did the job. It made me feel hate and then work through it and reconcile it. It occurred to me that im not actually supposed to “enjoy” it. I’m supposed to identify with it and reflect on how virtue interfaces with loyalty. It’s an empathy machine designed to open us up toward forgiveness. I think it was a bold and ingenious move to go the route they (The Naughty Dogs) did. Anyway. You’re putting GREAT content bout there and I applaud you. I’ve really enjoyed binging on your videos today. Make that Doc, dude. You’re really knowledgeable about what you’re obviously very passionate about. You got my respect my dude.
Oh cool! Glad you like my stuff thus far! Also glad you checked The Last Of Us video... I am not a gamer myself... I am very much attached to specific games mostly for story telling and TLOU is one of those. Aenima documentary been on my mind for a long time... and I have a pretty good idea of where to go with it but I need to upgrade my setup before I do that as I intend to do more 3D stuff on that but I just know my current setup will not be able to handle the required workload. I will start building 3D models soon but the actual work will begin once I upgrade my setup this winter. Again, Thanks for watching! ;)
If you haven't, check out Puscifer, it's Maynard's other project (yeah the dude has 3 bands!) Agostina, Man Overboard, The Humbling River, and The Remedy are my favorite songs. My favorite band though has always been Nine Inch Nails ☺
Hi! Yes i’ve Puscifer as well... I did not go to deep into but the few tracks I’ve heard were good! Nine inch nails is kind of an important band also! I dug Trent’s side projects “how to destroy angels”! But it doesn’t look like they have been active for the last few years!
Hi Everyone! Please leave below the name of the song that got you into Tool and mention your favourite band. Also please like, sub, comment and press that bell button! Thank you, JD

Eulogy was the first TOOL song I got introduced to, and I was hooked immediately and became my favorite band ever since. AEnima is definitely my favorite Album
Yes I actually think Eulogy was the second song after Right in two that I really got hooked on. That verse “he had a lot to say” is pure gold! And than the rest of the song is excellent. Yes I think Aenima is my favourite album also... it has nice balance between hardcore and prog. Song are not too drawn out... with just the right length. Thank you for sharing with us!
Late to the video, just subbed, sober is the song that got me into tool tho I think my favourite song is vicarious but the pot and and sober are close behind it. My favourite band is led zeppelin but took are a close second for me
Haha! Well, for some bands it’s the same for me... I have to wreck my brain to remember... which is why I wanted to make these series in the first place to remember before I completely forget I how I felt initially when I realised that a particular artist and myself were about to have a very special bond perhaps until I am gone one day

It's a good song! But it took me a while to get into at the time! I love it now though! =)

"right in two" is my favorite tool song... I love the build
Is it also the song that got you into this band?

Right in Two is a wonderful song
It is indeed. Although I’ve heard it one too many times. Barely ever listen to it at this point

The song that got me into Tool was 46&2
First song I heard: The Pot
First song I got into: Schism
Song that made me a fan: Lateralus
For me it was Sober. I'm on that stage where I only listen the first few tracks of each album, but from now on I'll give them a chance.
You definitely should.
