Amazing at how profound, and how blatantly obvious the enormous impact of having an actual artist (Lars) interviewing another artist (Maynard), and the difference it makes towards the overall success of content, compared to the typical radio dj, podcast host, or average fan that's usually conducting the interview. True, he is a great writer. I've always held him at the top among his peers and even beyond for lyrics. He also has a knack for characters (as Puscifer has shown) and he knows how to set the mood.
He may be a decent movie director if he was inspired to do it.

8:22 Maynard is probably the only vocalist I've heard mention he let's the music tell him what to do. It makes so much sense why everything he does couldn't be done by anyone else. When I did songwriting I struggled so hard to make songs work. Because I would force a topic or emotion on a song that was telling me to do something else. I love it.

I stumbled upon this shortly after watching Maynard's interview with Rick Beato. I like how he describes writing in each band as having a different conversation. As an emotional musician that just makes perfect sense. Weird because I'm quite the Metallica fan, but this is my first time listening to Lars' show, here today. He and Maynard appeared to have good chemistry, enabling a cool and comfortable conversation for them both. I'm ready to listen to more of Lars now for sure.

Lars has become a drumming meme. I admittedly doubted him here but he was an incredible interviewer. Many interviewers are too intimidated by Maynard to act natural.. yet this was so natural.. and you can tell by Maynard's vibe. I think it helped Lars being Metallica's manager to have good questions and perspective. Great interview

They are both part of a Mega-Band (which are a dying breed in the new age of social media), they are both quite a bit self centered yet aware of it.
