Thank you so much for this video! I was able to install 98 on an old machine without any problems.
Big help. Thank you! Always been stuck after assigning a DOS partition. The formatting section of your video is really helpful. Thank you.
You are the King!!! Thank you for making this video! Windows 98 is now on my ThinkPad X23!

I've seen a lot of tutos, but you'rs Is the best 👌
Fantastic tutorial thanks. Attempting to install win98 on an IBM A22M.
i just picked up an old pc and had issues installing windows 98 to a compact flash and this fixed that so thank you.
Thank you so much! You just helped me install 98 on an XPS T500.
One thing you did not say in your video Important: Only the OEM Full version of windows 98 se is bootable.
Great Vid, Thanks a lot mate! I really miss the old PC days. Things were much simpler and games were MUCH better. I have a ton of old Windows 95 and 98 games. Got my Windows 98 PC rock'n and keeping my eyes out for an old 95 machine for my DOS games.
"Much" isn't an acronym
Many thanks for the great video.. however I've got to 21:17 and my computer is stuck on "Scanning system registry" - does it take longer than others? I'm running a P MMX celeron 233mhz. Thanks
Thank you for this.

I’ve always found myself stuck after creating a DOS partition and not. Thanks for this
I just got an old T23 ThinkPad and installed win98 on it. it installs fine and boots up no problem - but when after installing manufacturer's video drivers windows explorer suffers from an "illegial operation and will be shut down". this dialogue box won't go away no matter how many times i click close. just keeps popping up. If i go into safe mode and disable the drivers it works boots back up fine. Any ideas?
Just intsalling Win 98 SE on 2002 Dell Latitude C640 laptop with P4/512MB/30GB/Radeon 7500M DX7 GPU (the screen has mighty 1400x1050 resolution which is compared to my 2016 laptop with 1280x720 screen ridiculous; where did the technology stop with getting better and better, lol. It's only been few years since we went higher to 2560x1440 and then 4K; 720p is still being in use on some cheap laptops, TVs etc. Or perhaps my laptop was just ahed of its time, i don't know, it was bought second-handed by bro - i jsut revived it a few years ago, hehe).
Had XP SP3 for years and was snappy in games, even installed Win 7 x86 once and played NFS U2 with Win Vista generic graphics drivers - video on my channel. It was a perfect XP-Vista--7 combo in use. Oh, the sticker on laptop was Win 2000 so i guess i could throw that OS in too :D
With Win 98 i want to come closer to my youth when i was gaming on Win 95 - Warcraft 1. NT OS doesn't support such an old pre-Win95 game so i thought to give the best non-NT OS a go and see how it looks. I jumped from Win95 to XP so no experience on any OS from between.
Jay, when you format a drive use the switch /autotest.
Hi I have noticed you have owned a few older laptops do you have any recommendations for a rock solid Windows 98 laptop in regard to stability? Cheers
A Compaq Armada E500 if you can find one, or a Dell Latitude CPx-J
How much time has been taken for allocation units?
Thank you so much.
CLASSIC
I get stuck just after the screen changes to the blue microsoft windows 98 setup screen. it just says please wait checking your system configuration for what seems like forever.
Wonderful video, thank you. one thing I have you did not is the PC Card Wizard. thats all this about? Step two of the wizard is confusing after saying I did not use a PC card to install windows 98 SE
jay could you do a video about installing 7 home premium 64 bit please
You can use command "format c: /g /s" for quick format?
My pc always hangs when I cancel the creation of a startup disk. Any thoughts?
Windows 98 now in my setup has something strange happening, after rebooting it says "while initializing device shell: windows protection error".
I'm trying to install Windows 98 Second Edition and when I try to run fdisk it just freezes and never starts the drive integrity check or anything. It tells me to press ESC to go back to the fdisk options but pressing ESC does nothing for me. What could my problem be? My system has a 2 GHz Pentium 4, 512MB RAM and an 80GB hard drive.
I have the same issue
2022 same like you, im trying with dvdrw maybe thats th problem
What is when You do not see CD Rom drive after instalation in Win98SE ?
I don't know if I have Windows 98 or 98SE and I cannot get beyond the error message 'operating system not found'.

- Running the setup command results in black screen

Do somebody know how to fix it ?

wheni boot form CD it load sthe OAK technology CD rOM drivers, and then promptly kicks me to "A:" (i have no floppy on this toshiba), and reports that no CD ROM was located (even though it was reading it a moment ago)

I followed your tutorial and everything went good. I just don’t have sound. I’ve installed drivers and everything and nothing
Think you need to try: copy *.* /s
That is copy with sub-directories, or xcopy *.* /s
How come you dident have to sys C: ?
When you format your computer's main hard drive from within MS-DOS, you can use the /s switch, which will make the hard disk bootable after it has been formatted.
ah so format C: /s did it for you.
i have that exact monitor
hi jay where could i get a windows 7 home premium iso for my laptop
How did you restart the pc at 12:18? :(
Did you figure how to restart it? I’m stuck on that option

Instead of slapping the keys, do you think you could just use a HAMMER? OK, just kidding.
ON THIS END IT KIND OF JUST SOUNDS LIKE THIS! Thank you.
I believe he’s using a mechanical keyboard, they tend to have louder keystrokes than your typical membrane keyboard. I don’t think he’s hitting the keys with much more force than anyone else would.
Gave you a shout-out on my latest video: ua-cam.com/video/FO89_Hsqupg/v-deo.html
