8:01 the vista installation detected ntldr (the boot loader 2000 and xp use), but starting with vista windows uses bootmgr and i think it just places bootmgr (the newer windows boot loader) on the partition with the existing installations, and bootmgr allows you to go to ntldr under "earlier version of windows"
19:29 the MBR partition scheme only supports 4 primary partitions, and you've used all of them up by this point, though you could've made the 4th one an extended partition with multiple logical drives and potentially install other versions of windows but i'm not sure how well that would work, if at all
MBR only supports 4 primary partitions... Therefore, just add more HDD's!
@@Happigail_Adamsah the good old add more storage approach

@@Happigail_Adams That would be cool, sadly it's a laptop :(
People have done it with desktops though! Looks like 2000 and XP need a seperate HDD since 2000 doesn't like Windows Vista and newer

You're the pro-version of me. I installed all Windows versions as a VM and you installed them on a physical PC.
Anyway gave you a sub.
dude you are the pro-version of me 😭
I installed windows 7, xp, and 11
I felt just as much disappointment as you when Windows 2000 blue screened after installing all those other OSes, great video!
Hello! I am the 1000th subscriber! I clicked on this video and saw: 999 subscribers. I knew what I had to do. Congratulation for your 1000 subscribers!
This was really nice! I kinda want to do a triple boot of Windows XP, 7 and 10 on a X58 motherboard and i7-920 that I managed to pick up recently.
Out of interest, what specs are the machine used for this test? I reckon Windows 7 was probably the best OS for your machine, with Windows XP not being too bad either if you installed all of the drivers.
19:16 A MBR disk can contain a maximum of 4 primary partitions.
great content. Keep up the good work
Man that’s a lot of operating systems for a single hard drive
ye
@@howdoimakethislongerlmaoheheheI've done it on macs loads of times
@@danandlaundry has it almost take up the HDD or SDD?
you can also connect virtual hard disks [vhds] which means you can do more than 5 systems
I don't think it will show up during installation and the boot manager screen
Love your energy ❤
you could likely install everything from 3.1 to 10 on a single computer using just three partitions
- one fat16 partition for dos, 3.1 and 95
- one fat32 partition for 98 and me
- one ntfs partition for 2000-10
fuck now i wanna dig out my 2005 xp laptop and try this out
@@subg9165Windows 10 requires a Presshot Pentium 4 at the minimum.Keep that in mind
I once dual booted 9 Linux distros on one machine. Other than that, I knew that one big partition was a bad idea instantly.
If you use extended partitions you can get more versions installed. I currently have xp-10 dual booted on my laptop
Maybe at some day you have to revisit the 5 counts
- Vista and above boot fine from extended partitions
- Windows 8 and above can boot from a VHD file stored on a NTFS partition, as long as the free space on the NTFS partition is more than the maximum allowed grow size of the VHD. It can even install directly to a VHD file if during setup you open cmd window and mount one with DISKPART. (I used this sometimes to install another Windows version on a machine without repartitioning to test driver support).
- I believe Windows 2000 can also dual-boot with DOS; and from DOS you can start Windows 1.0 to Windows ME all installed on a single FAT partition.
- If you start with Windows 8 (or 7 unofficially) you can install in UEFI mode on GPT Partition which has no limit of primary or extended partitions (other than free disk space)
Dude! You're sick ❤
19:20 it's because you have the max number of PRIMARY partitions. however, if you create a LOGICAL partition from diskmgmt, you can have as many as your hard drive can handle. try it next
how do you only have 1.3k subs??? very underrated
I feel like I can practically smell the Druaga1 influence on this and I am so excited and here for it.
I miss that man lmao
I miss him too man
Cool video man
Ok, I really liked the video and I even liked it and subscribed, but if you don't mind, can you pass on the ISO images of the operating systems?
this youtuber is underrated
It's not necessarily dual booting as you have 4 OSes shown on the w10 install screen but that's a lot of time for an experiment. I wonder if with extended partitions you could have windows 95 to windows 10!
Got this video recommented ✨️
I love this video!
Yoo cool video
jiga tech more like giga tech
Here's how you could've also added Windows 10: you can use some tools like AOMEI wizard which will allow you create more partitions and will work just fine.
I once tried doing that but I was insane and actually started with MS-DOS and Windows 3.x, 9x and NT 3.x. that didn't go well. Windows 2000 installer straight up told me that I won't be able to boot OSes earlier than NT 4 because they are no longer supported.
Or something like that. I might have mixed up some details.
Nya
these are well made
You can do more then 5 partitions, you need one primary partition and one extended partition hosting more partitions. MBR can only handle 4 partitions
upload video pls ur forgot
you can't dual boot on one partition with the newer versions of windows because all of their files is the same name so it won't work
like everyone said mbr drives can't have more than 4 partitions idk about gpt but ik it can have a lot and you can't use gpt because old versions of windows don't support gpt drives so you need more drives to continue
20!!!! Or 7 , amazing video
What is that sound in the background when you say that windows 2000 has no quick format? is it water?
If you use different partitions, you can install them without issue.
5:54 Windows XP
This tutorial is not fully correct. Since it's MBR you can only boot 4 versions (because the maximum number of partitions allowed is 4) but you could use GPT and with that you can boot up to 256 different OS (the maximum number would be much more, but Windows only supports up to 256 partitions). The disadvantage is that only Windows Vista (or 7) or greater support this, and requires a UEFI BIOS. GPT (GUID partition table) has a big advantage: you don't need to have active partitions: every partition is bootable. Some years ago I tried this and I could boot 10 different OS with no problems. (As I said I could have done much better, but I think it's still a great result).
I was your 1000th like
Yay im a 3DS fan too !!!!!
My experience with Windows ended at Win98. I used XP for a short time to test it out, but I don't really count that because it was just a couple of months and since then I've been Linux only. I've never tried to dual boot multiple Windows' versions, so I didn't even know it was possible, but you can make your life a whole lot easier by just using a good OS instead.
anythings better than mac os ngl

man I really hear the first time the windows XP background music 😢
Best part of the video is the ice pic
4:20 as a person who has dualbooted, i can confirm that i have now lost braincells
need to retry this maybe, if you put in 2 disks you could probably do double the amount of OSes
Get more drives. There may be a possibility to merge multiple usb drives so Windows can fit on them.
RAID
When I tried to install Windows XP Professional on my first computer it took forever to format the disk.
Use diskpart to clean your drives if you get stuck or you see Windows can't be installed on a GPT format only MBR is for all operating systems. You can Google this information if you need. Good luck oh really recommend a 20TB drive for everything that's your best bet which I will update mine to soon.
Crappy hardrives fault
Replace the drive's I have added XP recently installing it through the same way a tech would from the boot menu. Since its an older Os it works great. Remember to get the driver pack DVD to activate your services like internet. I have now XP-11 and Linux except I'd recommend a larger HDD for installation of all operating systems. XP software uses basic CD-R discs to burn programs too and the other OS use DVD-R discs to burn software to. Good luck my friend. P.s. what I did for all six OS was just what I'm leaving you here. Just remember to boot from the boot menu and select wherever your CD-ROM ls listed. If you have issues use diskpart to clean all your drives via list disk then select disk 0 or 1 and 2 etc.
Then type clean all to start over.

Once I had on my old laptop windows xp, vista, 7, and 10 dual booted
Man I really wanted to do this, but my laptop (my only computer) is legacy bios so i can't do more than 4 partitions
Edit: WAIT WHAT YOU CAN FIT MUTIPLES OS' ON ONE PARTITION HUH WHAT
Edit 2: nvm?
you can have more than 4 partitions if you make 3 primary partitions and 1 extended partition with an infinite number of logical drives.
is it safe because i want to install ubuntu without getting errors in my windows 10
You technically can for older versions of windows that don’t use image based deployment. What I’m saying is that you can make an extended partition that looks like a primary partition, but you can put any number of logical partitions inside that extended partition.

If you have a UEFI Enabled system use GPT to have 128 partitions in Windows

increase the size of the disk u are using then win 10 can be installed
So Kalimba is a demo song, and same thing for Sleep Away.
If you’re using a legacy bios, then you can only have 4 partitions

The word you can use instead of dual boot is multi boot
Your boot order @0:53 is wrong! Hard Drive should always be #1!, not #3! It's no wonder the error message occurred, especially if it's also read only.
It's more like multiboot
A better word for 'dual-booting' in this case would be 'multi-booting'.
