- After a comfortable few years in the sun, this NSX-R had it's fair share of UV damage and paint fade. In this episode we attempted to revive it to it's former glory, or close to - with our limited detailing knowledge.

I love these detailing videos. It's got that calm/ASMR appeal to it plus the cool close ups of unique cars. It's the reason why Contempo Classics and Ammo NYC are so popular. I'd love to see more of these JDM car detailing!! Maybe they have a different way of doing detailing over there?
Pro Tip: Less downward pressure on the DA will prevent the disc/pad from stalling. Marking a line on the disk is also a helpful indicator. 10:45
Is that Nismo plate an easter egg? Hahaha
The amount of paint that's still on the car after so many years is quite something indeed.
At first I was going to say I love the age and imperfections of Ben’s NSX, well earned hard driven miles and use - but ya after seeing the transformation 🤘 well done!
Thanks! She looks good either way
Love the USB ISF just chillin there lol
Could we get a feature on the I-SF please? That’s one of my dream cars. Thanks
haha Aki's great; he's always been OCD so the detailing piece was great. Loved this!
I feel like the USB F got no love at all haha
Great vid 👌
I love the stock wheels but I hate fender gap. So I’d be tempted to try higher profile tires even though they might mess up the handling.
Dang, man! This video is therapeutic! That NSX-R just got a lot more sexier. This video is so enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
thats some good 10+ year old fukushima radiation hidden under the number plate.
How do you know the car is from Fukushima?
That NSX looks stunning, both pre and post detailing!
I thought the same thing. #YellowGang 🤗
Dino your videos are down right captivating to a jdm enthusiast like myself, this essence you bring to them is like non-other. I absolutely appreciate the content you bring to us, it's always such a treat!
Wow, thanks, so happy to hear feedback like this ❤️
The very first NSX-R is probably my favorite NSX ever. Specially in Championship white.
Thank you for this video!
Missed the initial clay bar step for pulling out contaminants in the clear.....
Well spotted!
Gorgeous car. 😻
Hey Dino! Lovin the vids man! You are truly sharing the most incredible cars in the world with us! I was wondering if you're friend has any car cleaning products he recommends as i love washing my car and would really appreciate any advice from an expert like him. The NSX came out great!
Thanks, very happy to hear that. Can definitely ask Aki to chime in with recommendations 👌🏻
always found washing youre own car on a weekend with your fav beverage in your garage is such a relaxing , restresser activity. That or i'm getting that old lol
Couldn't agree more!
The NSX is nice...but man the side streets of Japan look so clean and safe
Great Job! Please note, when washing a NSX the engine vent near the trunk lid must be covered. Water runs down the drain right onto the rear engine bank into the spark plug ports and corrodes the coil packs and spark plugs.
I like that the title says "Detailng" and not "Restoring". All these detailing videos claiming they restore a car really grind my gears lol!
Definitely my favorite version of the NSX. The soap up and rinse section was very satisfying to watch.
This is such a beautiful car, I wish I could afford one.
Amazing results. We love the NSX-R!
Thanks! 👍
The NSX-R came out nice.
NISMO plate on a Lexus, balls MOVE!
Once again, no IS F love 😪 but with NISMO plate cover? 🥴
We'll feature that one too if Aki is keen
@@dino_dc borrow it off him and lap it at Fuji Speedway 🤪
One of the overlooked joys of 80s-90s cars is big flattish panels. Nice and easy to wash! As to the NSX, it's the right kind of dirty. That's road grime and break dust, it's like sweat on an athlete not the dust and degradation of neglect and time.
Indeed! That car was throughly abused the week before haha
You re growing to be the most influential car youtuber in japan, you understand their car culture, the western world is all about the lamborghinis and the ferraris and buggatis..you re bringing the hidden gems here, what can i say more than the right man in the right position.
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 ❤️
Great job guys !
Oh man I'd say you both felt a great satisfaction when you finished working on the car 😉(after a lot of work though)
And lucky you, getting to spend a month with such an icon.
The worst thing left on it was the badly faded seats, but in some ways I would think about just leaving those
sorts of parts as is.
Loved the unassuming garage as well, hard to believe cars like the NSX-R and R33 are being worked on and stored there.
Have you made any/many videos with the NSX-R?
There are a few more with the NSXR to come
Champinship white.... yummy
Such a great ending to the NSX saga!!
Which color white on this NSX-R? I know there’s Championship White, Neutron White Pearl, and Grand Prix White. Which one is this color?
Championship white
such a beautiful car :)
Another Dino video Easter egg: Nismo plate cover on a Lexus. 😅
Haha 😂
I know Ahki! I used to read his blog on his BNR34 . Please ask him to share his car with the world again!
Aki still has his blog on his R33
I see that USB IS F hiding back there… 👀
those intro b-rolls are just magnificent, looks like a videogame
Another enjoyable watch! And yes, Aki's 33 has to be right up there with the very best.
To Aki; if you read this, if you like car air driers, then I think an offering from the likes of Metro Vac, BLO, Big Boi or even EGO would be great for you..
And a Porter Cable; that is a throwback.
Thank you again for sharing!
Best wishes, Kadir.😊
This is, so calming and serious at the same time.
bro this is not 300,000 US Dollars. Maybe 300,000 UA-cam Bro dollars.
You might want to look at prices 😉
Why don`t you correct the volume of the music? it is a ear rape every time
Nobody has complained so keen to hear what set up you are watching it on
Thank you for the inspiration. I will now go paint my garage floor white and resurrect the white dragon [05 supercharged TL on te37s and project mu bbk] that is sitting in the garage.
Ahhhhhh…. So satisfying
Gracias por el excelente trabajo. Disfruto mucho. Sólo una cosa, ¿lavado bajo el sol? 😱
A car I'll never be able to own but i loved these in the 90s. I was always going to dealers to look at them. (Obviously not the R model obviously)
vaccaboia, my dream car
Neglected? Maybe its just a drivers car. Some people are not bothered by a layer of brake dust all over their car. I am not one of those people thank God you did this!
Is this a true NSX-R? How come it doesnt have a raised wing?
Yes it is. That’s the later model
Your car videos are awesome❤
Thank you!
Some much needed TLC. It turned out way better that expected, brought the car the back to life.
We tried in the short time we had
@@dino_dc appriciate the reply Dino. Looking forward to even more epic content from you. Hope you and Larry can do youtube full time.
Ahki also had a Nismo 370z how is that doing!!?
He’s never owned a Z
So cool to find this channel and especially seeing Aki’s garage! Good job on the NSXR but as an owner I cringed when you blasted the rear hatch vent due to the coil pack issue stated above. Hope to see you two again for beers and yakitori soon! -John Chu from Canada 🤙
Never had a problem with the coils 😂 when you coming back?
@@dino_dc Will be back end of July for 2 weeks. Still in Setagaya? Yeah, the rear coil packs getting messed up by water leakage is a common problem, there’s a kit available to fix the problem. I’ve seen NSX’s bog down in rain storms. 😢
This was extremely satisfying lol.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Where did he get that Makita blow gun?? 👀👀
Online
I missed driving my nsx. It has been neglected in the garage.
Go drive that thing immediately 😆
I would definitely check radiation levels on this baby with a Geiger counter.
Why?
@@dino_dc Fukushima Exclusion Zone has a lot of rare cars.
Simple green!? My guy knows what’s up. I use that all the time. Great video Dino. Love the variety!
Awesome! Thank you!
Isn't that the abandoned NSX-R in everyone Japan's vlogs?
Doubt it
@@dino_dc ... Dustin Williams and Effspot vlogged about about an abandoned NSX-R. Same condition
Nismo plate on Lexus ??? 😂😂😂
Lol yes so jdm it hurts 😂
Berry Naisu! 😉👌🏻
Also. My favorite speed hunters article of all time is the one you did on the 190e time attack car, “DTM Aspirations”. Maybe one day you can do a shop tour at Motor Racing Clever.
Oh I remember that one!
There is one of these for sale in Australia for "only" $599,900 if anyone is interested.
A lot more than my house geez
Nice job on the NSX by you and Aki Dino. The NSX is definitely a favourite piece of history that deserves preservation. So what’s next? Pebble Beach? Great content, keep living the dream.
Thanks! It was fun seeing such an improvement. Car is now back with Ben, the owner so it’s up to him to figure out what is next. I think he’s just going to drive it a lot and start slowly fixing what’s wrong with it
The NISMO plate on the Lexus is setting off my OCD.
😆
Nice to see such a beautiful car get the spa day it deserves :)
that polishing machine looks like from the 90s :D, came out great though!
Porter Cable. Not from the 90s but definitely mid 2000s
underneath cleaning ?
Nope
Interior looks to be sun baked. Probably needs re-covering of alcantara.
Yup believe Ben will tackle that eventually
Looks much better. I am slowly doing this same project to my early Alphard using a mix of products and a combination of wool and urethane finish pads orbital buffer. I will see how it comes out. Its really hard to capture the eyes or other imperfections that occur in the paint with a camera. I would assume you used some detail brushes to get into the window seals, panel gaps, trunk gaps and other areas where that Japan grey/brown fallout seems to accumulate and "leak" down the side of the car every time it rains.
Yeah that fallout tends to be very black in Tokyo. I call it the Tokyo lines, especially sucks if you have white cars
🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🤩
Always relaxing to watch detailing videos like this, especially on a JDM icon, end result feels showroom fresh!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I thought R's came with a carbon spoiler and non pop-up headlights? Or was this regular NSX that's been modded to R-spec?
This was the first gen of the NSX-R, the one your are thinking is the NA2 with the 3.2L C32 & fixed headlights
@@dino_dc Oh I see. Thanks!
Aki's 33.... I cannot wait for that video!!!
Yeah it's a special one!
NICE CAR!
The pad is barely moving. It’s binding on the ridges of the surface and not doing any work at all…
It's an orbital, it vibrates, if the vibrations match the frequency of the camera it looks still
@@dino_dc it’s a random orbital, which still requires rotation of the pad for paint correction. It being a Porter Cable DA with the lack of torque certainly doesn’t help.
the lexus with the nismo plate is really buggin me
You’re not the only one lol
Very AMSR. Gorgeous car! Very well done.
Glad you like it!
Anyone else watch this video and then wash their car ? 😂
Haha
I think i have seen the place somewhere before, isn't it the same place where you feature the detailing of your yellow porsche on speedhunter? 😂
Exactly!
@@dino_dc looking forward for the Porsche videos on this channel 👌
Perhaps sir, you can visit detailing shops there. Pretty sure the detailing by them might more extra than usual i guess.
I don’t understand, what do you mean?
@@dino_dc Maybe you can visit/explore, car wash & detailing or auto spa car there sir.
😁
What's with the Nismo plate on the IS F? LOL!
Aki upsetting the interwebs lol
@@dino_dc Aki messing with other people with OCD eh? That guy is evil. Hahaha!
Is it your NSX Dino?
No my friend’s
That Aki guy must be fun at parties.
he's awesome and super knowledgeable especially in regards to R33's. he's just very particular and isn't afraid to confront improper info
Aki is awesome, need to do a feature on his 33!
What did u use on wax for the shine?
Gtechnique spray on sealant
Ok very cool I'll go and buy some
To start you say your attention to details but dont remove the wheels off the car. Ya ok
No lift!
@@dino_dc jk i know the struggle.
