He handed him $25,000 in cash because it only had 12,000 miles on it. After two years of building it, it was a monster. Since he owned a machine shop, he built his own 90 mm turbo. He built his own titanium exhaust system. He even fabbed his own hubs so that he can tuck a 325 rear tire. Put some Lambo hinges on it and painted it in what looks like Vantablack with blacked out windows and did Tan English Leather on the Interior with double satin stitching. It was an absolutely gorgeous car. $25,000 for the car and $50,000 in upgrades. It was the fastest car I've ever driven. It would rocket to 100 mph in no time flat, it was like it never stopped accelerating. We took it to Sears Point in Sonoma and it was just easy to drive, superfast, responded amazingly under braking. This guy in the paddock walked up to him and offered him $450,000 and he sold it right then an there. We got a rental car and drove home and my buddy was heartbroken. He made a ton of money but was sad to not be able to drive it ever again. Edited for typos

Yes and No. While Honda built a supercar that actually works, the ones they broke were the other offerings at the time in that it made them look broken that they couldn't do things that came natural to the NSX. (Safety, reliability, etc.). It was an upgrade the industry didn't know it needed and thus the other manufacturers had to "fix" their car building formula to meet the new standards.
I looked at 2 Honda NSX back in 2010. Drove both of em. Like in your video stated, you'd be amazed about how easy the average person can drive the NSX. I came across one again in 2015, it was a customer's car. The Lady was well in her 60s. I asked her about what she liked about the Honda. Her reply was simply: "it felt good, was affordable as a fast car and never let her down."
100% agree. I personally think that the problem with the NSX wasn't from the car itself. Rather than the people who could afford to buy them due to dealerships jacking the prices up. They preferred to buy a Ferrari or a Lambo because they were wanting to be Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice or Magnum PI. Most people who can afford fast cars they aren't that interested in driving they just wanna show off.
There will never be a time in my life where i won't notice an NSX passing by. I honestly can't think of a car i'd rather have. The new NSX is not the old NSX but it's a sign of the times where everything is a half a million dollars.
the NSX and S2000 are of the same breed. The emotion they exude, the necks they break, the smiles they create. Incredible feats of engineering that got to point B in a revolutionary manner. I own both and unpopular opinion, I enjoy driving my 09 GPW S2k more than my 96 NSX.
You should! I love my S2000. Endless revs, fantastic balance, convertible, and elegant styling inside with seats that grabbed you closer than any girl wrapped around you.
My father in law owned a S2000 for 14 years. He was a Honda employee at the Anna, Ohio engine plant. He got on a waiting list and nabbed the third S2000 in the state of Ohio the time. He passed away last year. I miss him, and that car😢 so much. He sold it years ago since he could no longer get in or out of it. I had three kids and couldn't afford to take it off his hands. I could now, grrrr.
I traded my S2000 for a black on black 1997 NSX .... Both fantastic cars cut from the same block ..... The engineered feel of both is the same ..... If they had no badges you'd know they came from the same place
Thank you! Thank you! For this video! I knew Senna helped with the development of the NSX. But, not all the behind the scenes at the factory. Excellent job! Love your videos.

This is the reason the 1990 NSX was so special, they put so much care and engineering into this car, while still being VERY competitively priced. The new NSX just doesnt feel anything like it and everyone already seems to have forgotten it even existed.

The point is that the NSX is not like those cars. The Nissan 300ZX & R32 Skyline GTR, the Mitsubishi 3000 GT, the Supra - all those are relatively conventionally built cars using twin turbos to overcome excessive weight. The aluminium chassis and body of the NSX meant it could be normally aspirated and use VTEC to rev to 9 creating sufficient horsepower to match anything from Japan and Europe. The NSX is unlike anything except the McLaren F1 just as the new NSX is like a cheaper Porsche 918 Spyder.
@@stevenfarrington2361You're 100% right with that but I'd still say that more non-car enthusiasts would still recognize a Supra or a GTR over an NSX, therefore they (for me personally as a non professional car lover ) are equal by status.
The nsx was on another league compared to the gtr and supra of that era. Numbers alone, yes nsx was down on power but its engineering and formula was greater or even at par with the Italians that purely made supercars, just as the video stated. They decided to go head to head with them big boys and succeeded. If they wanted to just compete in their domestic market, they could have just made another front-engined car, slapped turbskie and just called it a day.

One of my bigger blunders and regrets is not purchasing a mint red 1991 or 1992 NSX from my friends father 15 years ago. He wanted $20,000 USD and the car was a one owned 7,000 mile example. My buddies older brother ended up with the NSX and I believe still owns it. In a way, like fine wine these special , underrated Super Cars are getting better with age. When I was in high school the NSX and Supra were a “reasonable” price at like $25k-$30k (09-12) and now they’re worth so much more now. Sad. I remember seeing NSXs often too in my area. Now I never see them anymore and that also makes me sad.
Instead of creating new why not revive it i knew that there is new acura nsx but that 1990 nsx was so great than the new nsx
Sad sad
Back in 1999 I was shopping for Supra the used car dealer had a white NSX he tried to talk me into buying. I left that dealership and went on to buy a 95 Supra which I sold years later for 13K. I wish I kept it. Back in 1998-99 both cars could be found used in the 20K-30K range.
It took a decade for a car to transit from daily enthusiast weapon to garage queen.

The NSX was and still is such a great design. Timeless.
Honda didn’t break Supercars, they fixed them.
The NSX looks amazing,
It is a great combination of elegance and sporty,
Even in 2022 looks modern.
As someone that is absolutely in love with the NSX, this is a masterpiece. Thank you.
Glad I could do it justice!
ditto that
VERY well made video, appropriate for a VERY well made car.
S2000 is definitely another car I wanna cover.

Exactly. Hondas first car was a red sports car. Honda came from bike and car racing. True pedigree. I wish the video would have had more details on that, but instead pedals old myths that Honda only made econo cars up until the NSX
This is the reason the 1990 NSX was so special, they put so much care and engineering into this car, while still being VERY competitively priced. The new NSX just doesnt feel anything like it and everyone already seems to have forgotten it even existed.
It's a overly priced hybrid V6 it's not gaining traction with those factors

The NSX is just like an R32 Skyline GTR or a mk4 Supra.
Old, not the best compared to todays cars, but still simply a legend.
yes, these 3 cars are pure legends, and there are the "Japanese National Treasures of Cars"
Those are sports cars though, the NSX is a supercar, not the same car at all when you have them side by side just saying.
Imagine Honda coming with a new master piece and start setting records . That would be a sight
i allways stop a documentary at the 3rd min... I've never paused yours. You have my respect , continue like this , well done ! i honor you as much as i can... *subscribing*
I will never not appreciate the fact that someone takes the time to watch a video, much less subscribe and watching more. Thank you friend!
I've always loved the styling of the original NSX. I can remember being amazed at its performance and speed for a car powered by a NA V6. Its power-to-weight ratio, aerodynamics, and excellent front vs rear weight were what did it. It still looks modern for 2023.
I thought I was watching a well known channel that I already subscribed to! New sub here, keep it up. I can imagine it’s hard work on your own, but we will be here no worries
It is a lot of work, especially with a day job, so there might be not very regular uploads. I'll try my best and thanks for giving me a watch!
Great writing and story telling!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed what we do here!
Great storytelling on a car I've always admired !
2 requests:
1) Datsun 510
2) Mitsubishi 3000 GT
I owned several of the former & admire the latter.
Thanks !
You, sir, are gonna go places in the youtube world! Great narrating in a fun way that keeps you laughing, proper information and over all just awesome! I hope you keep it up and keep the spirit of this video!
Soon you will pass millions of subscribers (if that's one of your goals) or the most faithful viewers on the interwebz!
Thank you Daniel! My goal is just to tell good stories in the automotive space, I'll be happy no matter how many subs or views I get! Thanks for watching!
Even Tho NSX was not going to be that noticable now, it's the car that started a Supercar / Hypercar Revolution in the world of Auto Industry
Your attention to detail, deep knowledge, creativity and passion has produced this amazing tribute. I'd love to see your take on some other iconic cars, like the Lexus LS 400, The W124 500E etc. Keep it up, sir
Would love to cover the birth of Lexus and the LS400 soon!
Definitely one of the greatest cars ever made in terms of what it was in its time and it’s effects on auto making moving forward. It literally put the fire under automakers asses which is probably a reason why cars are so good today.
Another great video man. Keep it up. You will be one of the biggest car channels on UA-cam if you keep this up
One of my bigger blunders and regrets is not purchasing a mint red 1991 or 1992 NSX from my friends father 15 years ago. He wanted $20,000 USD and the car was a one owned 7,000 mile example. My buddies older brother ended up with the NSX and I believe still owns it. In a way, like fine wine these special , underrated Super Cars are getting better with age. The NSX is something special, kind of like a 90’s GT40.
Finally got to watch this video, and damn i love how the NSX basically redefined supercars... the coolest things i know abt it is that in the motorsport world it really left a mark, and that some of the people who made the NSX eventually worked on the S2000 doesnt get better than that! Also, love the Initial D reference with Go Hojo's red NSX towards the end 👌👌
