Another thing that works is a Stay Ball. You sit on the Stay Ball, slowly walk your feet forward until your bum starts to sink toward your heels. There will be a point in which the ball will stay wedged between your back and bum. You can adjust as necessary to get the right depth of squat for your own body. I can stay there for whole tv programs without it hurting but still getting a good stretch. It’s for leaning into my tight ankles.

    Another great video!
Could you, please, do a video explaining half pigeon? Every time I do the pose I have the feeling that I feel it in the "wrong places". I feel an uncomfortable sensation on the outside of my bent leg, should I not feel it in my hips if I'm trying to open them? I'm so confused. Thanks ❤️

    Thank you for this explanation.
This pose in yoga always confused me. In India, and other parts of Asia, squat toilets are common. People squat like this everyday. Never made sense why the yogis would’ve created a pose that everyone around them does daily.
The fact it focuses on stretching the groin and improving hip flexibility as the focus of the pose is something I had not had explained to me before.

    • @cranebeg

Me too! I think I've been going about it all wrong with the concern I have no ankle dorsiflexion and couldn't seem to improve on it, I've tried to force my heels down from the western or "froggy squat" as she described it in many elaborate ways. This discomfort/stretch in the hips might be the key. The very last variation, she saved the best till last imo. Staying on your heels throughout while using both hands behind to prop yourself up, although I put a foam roller against the wall at my current level plus it's wrist comfort to hold for a longer duration. I'm hopeful again at least 👍

Another video where there's no explanation on how to stay upright when trying to get into this position. It's so very frustrating. My knees aren't trying to come in, my heels want to come up just so I don't fall over, but I cannot stay upright with my heels up or down. I didn't know that actually finding beginner content learning about why this happens was going to be such a hard ask.
