I can tell Capt. Pickford is very knowledgeable and mild mannered I say the chief was right during the conference call, thanks for showing us your day Capt. Stay safe .
Get a slow cooker, Captain! You can make so many great healthy meals in a slow cooker! Start it in the morning and let it cook all day! Pork roast, ribs, sweet and sour pork ribs! The possibilities are endless!
Quite surprised to see you guys get dispatched to a car lock-in. Especially if no animal or child is trapped. Normally over in U.K., you just send for a locksmith. Fire wouldn’t even think about turning out. Hell I once had a 600 LTR diesel spill right into a nature reserve and couldn’t even get them to turn out with spill kit. Seems like you guys turn out to everything to assist the community. Nice to see, keep up the great work.
My neighborhood fire department (Pecan Grove Plantation, TX) came out when I locked my keys in the car. Just called the non-emergency number, they pulled up to my house less than 10min after the phone call.
So I worked for Portland Fire for about 2 years They will dispatch either fire or police depending who's less busy. They do it to basically maximize the budget from tax payers.
@@Blackwolffe097 Plus, Sitting around is bloody boring, as long as they are not too far from home there is little to no difference in turn out time between sitting in the station and sitting at a local cafe.
I believe this is my personal favorite day in the life episode yet! Capt. Pickford presents as an awesome, knowledgeable, Responsible fire officer! Thank you Capt for doing this for our benefit! Much Love and Stay Safe!💪🏾🔥
Thank yall for all you do im studying to become a firefighter to and yeah these guys are the hero's my calling is helping ppl and thank you for your service
Another fantastic video, I've jsut left the British Army and I'm trying to join the fire service over here and honestly can't think of a better career. These videos have been very interesting to watch.
You guy's are amazing and awesome 👍😎. Thank you so very much for your service to our Country as Firefighters. Your hard work and dedication is outstanding 👍💪. May God always bless you and keep you safe and healthy where ever you go
Thank you guys soo much for all that you do. I’ve been waiting to see the life of a Capt. and to be inside a fire truck 🚒. Love ya South Metro be safe. And tell Chief I said hey!
I was a Volunteer Firefighter and my hats off to him and when it comes to dinner at the firehouse it's just like Capitan Bobby Nash from the show 9-1-1 said and it applies to every company "we at the 118 work together eat together" cause your all family.
That’s a true leader, look at the small details while the crew is getting their food he stands back and makes sure his men get theirs first before he gets his meal!
when i get in my fire department and take my captains exam im going to use everything captain Pickford uses and apply it when im captain cause truly is a inspiration to younger captains coming into the higher ranks of the firefighting service
As an FTO myself, I'm going to tell you that is a horrible thing to do. No one wants you to imitate them. He can be an inspiration and a mentor but that doesn't mean you should copy him. What I tell my trainees in EMS is you need to make the job your own. You need to be yourself. That doesn't mean that you can't use what you learn from others to help shape you, but in the end you need to be yourself. I'm sure Captain Pickford and any other mentor worth their salt would agree with that too. Make the role your own and become a mentor and role model for others to emulate, not to copy.
Thanks for sharing your day as a Captain. Work schedule of 48 on 96 off is interesting. The Department I was at was 24 on, 48 off. Your shift could be very tedious depending on call volume. Be safe brother and keep your crews safe!!!
Respect from Switzerland ! I appreciate to see how you are organised, and I can say that even if it’s radically different in my area station, we share the same values.

Do you always send a second apparatus to medical calls? If there is a crew of three on the ambulance, it seems like beeing enough for day-to-day calls. Here in Germany, fire resources are usually only send for forcing doors or lift assistance. Some larger cities are using them as first responders too, but its not standard.

It's possible that they do it to keep in practice, so they are good at it whne they DO have to rescue a child.
