Another great episode with awesome footage of apartment fire. Glad to see only minor injuries to a couple of people. Good advice on what to do with your BBQ after using it before putting it away. It was good to see several agencies come together on animal rescues. Never a dull moment but being a fireman can be a very exciting and rewarding career. A career where people actually appreciate the help.
That trench scene happened in my town about four of five (4-5) years ago, they were working on a city street, the trench collapsed on top of three men. My father was one of the first on scene, he was a firefighter for the city at the time, 2 fatalities, and I think the third person died in the hospital. If you're still here, these were the units on scene: Hays Kansas Fire department: ladder 1 and 2, engines 1,2,3, utility 312, 313, special operations trailer of Hays fire and Ellis County fire, Car 300, 301, 302. Ellis County Rural Fire department Company 5, and maybe company 6, Hays Police Department, Ellis County Sheriff's Department, Kansas state Highway Patrol, there may have been more, but that is all I can recall.
Great knock down and rapid fire control on what could have been multiple structures had it not been for rapid attack intervention! Thanks for sharing! (retired firefighter captain)
Living in Aurora,CO. from 1969-1980 and having a daughter that still lives in the same area too, I am glad that I found your channel. I have sinced moved and then have retired to the Philippines but I can still see places and streets that are still familar to me. I have not made it thru all the videos, but plan to. Stay safe, keep up the great work, and again thank you for the channel. Already subscribed and waiting for new videos.
You can tell how proud the members are of this department. Everything from dispatch, ems to fire seems fantastic. I’d love to make the transfer to this departments communications!
We had that exact thing happen on 12/24/10. The person had been cleaning their grill and left it near the house. Needless to say they lost everything. God bless from fire district 10 Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
Awesome superb outstanding excellent fantastic incredible job terrific great work amazing job you do on your videos and vlogs I will send you a patch from my cities fire department as soon as possible keep up your great work it is a learning experience for me.
So at 14:45 I see the shimmer of oil. Does the dive team assist in managing/cleaning that up? Or is that the park ranger's responsibility? Or was it such a minor amount that it was left there?
LOVE THE HELMET CAM. Clear nice photos. Good job by the first line off (blue). That drop off would be a great surprise at night. Still a very good job👍🤗👏
That happened to my family 10+ years ago. My dad said it was like 10-12 at night, and someone stopped, banging on our door, yelling that our garage was on fire. The guy grabbed our hose and started spraying the garage while my dad called the fire department. Garage is still standing today, by 3 walls. Glad it was on the other side of the driveway so our house and second garage was okay,
that 2.5" line sure knocked down a lot of fire quickly! Good choice by the Capt to have it pulled. Also love seeing the old school Grip Hoist in action!
It’s so odd to see a blizzard response team when you live in the Texas desert where we get 1 or 2 inches of snow all year long that’s usually melted by noon. Thanks for a great channel.
Yeah , I lived in Austin coming from The north east part of the country it was wild to see the city shut down over 4 inches at night only to have barely any sign of snow by 10 am the next morning a few times.
Noticed the natural gas meter on the back of the residence, is gas service shut off as soon as the call goes out. I’m retired LEO started in 911 telecommunications we would dispatch fire and then gas co. and electric. Great job on the horse rescue, such a limited time and a precarious situation for that rescue.
@@centralnewyorkresponses7887 They cover parts of three counties to be more precise. The area that they cover totals to just a little over 1/3rd of the area of a single county.
Eric, Thank you for sharing these wonderful videos. You should be proud of the extraordinary work of SMFR. In watching your vlogs, I am constantly impressed by your professional communications and ability to expand and control the ICS model. I was wondering if your incident recordings are made public, for training purposes. I could image that there are fire departments and other emergency response organizations throughout the country and the world who could gain valuable knowledge from simply listening to your responses and the continually impressive command and control that your leadership team has on the fire ground. Thanks in advance for any information.
How about doing a few videos on the newest apparatus being delivered? Maybe start with how your department decides on what type of unit to purchase, if you go out to bid, or just purchase through one manufacturer, how long your units stay on front line service before replacement, and right up through putting them in service. I’ve been involved in this 5 different times during my career and would enjoy seeing your companies process. I’m sure you have certain years of service before units are put into reserve. Things change all the time especially now with technology, so it’s nice having a department that seems to keep up with that. Perfect example is it looks like most of your newer engines and tower ladders are purchases through Pierce Mfg, no doubt either the best manufacturer in the fire service, or at worst one of the top 3, they’ve come out with that new tower ladder design that has really become popular, I’m sure you’ve seen it and I was wondering if your ordering any in the near future. Also, how often do you replace rescue units? Just things like that are interesting and just a few ideas on new videos that should be very interesting to many of us. Hope I’m not wasting your time, you both do a great job keeping us informed on your department and please keep these videos coming. Thanks again.
Connor last name changed in intro and she's off on vacation? Honeymoon? Congratulations! You both do an excellent job with the VLOG. You serve your community well. Great knock-down with the 2½. Capt. made excellent call to go hard at it and then coached his FF on the attack methodology. Well done.
1st fire is why I have purchased a laser thermometer and will use it to check the temperature of my grill after use. Also if I can't touch the metal outside I know it's unsafe to store it yet.
Just a random question, when you guys receive a box alarm call do use MABAS or is that an Illinois or Midwest thing? So essentially regardless of “district” you have multiple districts automatically assigned through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. I’m just trying to understand if this is how everyone does it or if it’s all different systems.
MABAS is largely a Midwest thing centered around Illinois and states that surround it. Box cards and alarms do not exist in Colorado, but a lot of agencies in Colorado participate in automatic aid agreements so the closest units are automatically requested. The specific units are determined through that agency's CAD system and if that automatic aid unit is not available, the CAD will determine the next closest unit available for the call. In South Metro's case, they have full automatic aid agreements with most agencies that surround them with the exception of their northern neighbor who does not participate in automatic aid agreements of any kind and their northeastern neighbor that provides limited automatic aid to certain predetermined areas. As I understand for MABAS, the box cards dictate that an agency shall provide a specific kind of apparatus, but other than that it is up to the full discretion of that agency to determine where it may come from within that agency's district so there might be a case where the unit might be coming from the far side of the district. Outside of the automatic aid agreements, there are standard mutual aid requests that require specific request and approval by the agencies involved. Most agencies are really good about immediately granting requests, although it is not perfect as some agencies have a lot of red tape and can sometimes drag their feet.
Fantastic decision by E33's captain to switch up to the 2 1/2" hardline at the last minute. The blitzfire was a solid choice, but staying mobile to knock down those exposures was a solid move.
A suggestion and as a fire-fighter I use my ideas,, put a smoke and or carbon monoxide alarm in your garage, tool shed and on a patio as a early warning system plus a extinguisher ... the cold test is best for heated appliance esp BBQs that take half to hour to fully cool, remember heat transfers and with the right conditions fires will ignite quickly
Hi Guys, Just wondering if more of the helmet cam/dash cam can be a feature of the channel as stand alone videos so put up videos of some big jobs. I've seen some others do it and I really enjoy watching them and I know so many other people want to see them also.
They were in a reserve tower while their ladder was out of service at the shop. The name of the apparatus will change to match the kind of truck they are driving at the time so that everyone on the radio knows what to expect when they respond to a call and arrive on a scene.
They say variety is the spice of life, but I'm pretty sure we don't have bears stuck up a tree although Merseyside fire and rescue do rescue the odd cat LOL Stay safe bro.
Here the vehicle owner is responsible to removing vehicles from water. In the winter time on frozen lakes helicopters are brought in to remove vehicles from rivers and lakes. Again, the owner or insurance will foot the bill. Great video.
Love how the ridiculous reporter said even though we know a fire grill was involved that's definitely the complete cause of everything basically I like how she insinuated that good job on the Pio
Had to stop and comment about 5:35. When they started hitting the fire in the rear, one guy told the nozzle man to start low and work you way up. Why?? I've seen this on many other videos as well. This is not a good tactic. In situations like that I always start high. All that water is going to cool the high sections, then rain down on the fire below. Starting low makes no sense to me.
