Imax reels are expensive 20 30 logo k lia thodi na imax reels india mai leke ayenge. Upar se ticket v itnaa expensive hoga ki gand fat jaiga public ka. 2k 3k mai kon movie dekhega.
Oh, I do remember the Ghaziabad IMAX. I've always wanted to watch a movie there, but a ticket price of 170 Rupees in 2006 was too much for a student like me. I remember some of my friends watched Poseidon and Superman returns there. When I started earning, that IMAX screen was gone. Ye ichha dil me hee reh gayi :(
Whoaaa! First person I’ve witnessed who consciously knew about it. It’s alright man. I missed bunch of movies at Logix Noida because I did not know what IMAX was in 2016
I've very much enjoyed learning all about the giant screens across India Cloudy. Thank you. You have a natural presentation style and don't have to show off in a loud and brash way which is a bit part of the reason your videos have been so successful. John.
@@KDCloudy The Twister 4K is very good but I think we'd all expect that from a mid-1990's 35mm anamorphic which always had one of the best soundtracks ever. It doesn't look as good on my telly but it's just like a film print through my video projector to ten feet wide. Another 70 feet or so and I could claim '4K IMAX with Laser'! But I'd prefer a 15/70 IMAX GT. John.
I live in kolkata. I've watched multiple spectacle movies on that pxl screen (the Batman, rrr, kgf 2, avatar 2, Oppenheimer, furiosa, dune 2) it's my go-to screen & it's fascinating to know about its history.
I watched Avengers Infinity War, Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness, Joker on the P[XL]. It was a really nice experience but then this year I watched Dune 2 at Miraj Cinemas, Newtown and I was blown by their screen & sound both so I also went there for Deadpool & Wolverine and again mind blown. If you get the chance try experiencing that once. In this all INOX & PVR this theatre really felt like a fresh change and better quality also.
KD damn good video man .. even i didnt know about the AerenR 70mm 😮 !! 6:19 damn i can't believe a GT auditorium is made to look like this now 😢 hurt me more than anything
Great series KD!! It’s amazing how you made even someone like me with no major understanding of IMAX, aspect ratio, etc to just completely understand. Wishing you luck for your upcoming exciting series like this one!!
Miraj Maximum is hands down my favorite theatre in the entire Delhi NCR! Despite being from Noida, I happily travel all the way to Gurgaon just for the unbeatable cinematic experience it offers. The sheer quality and ambiance make it worth every mile.
@@KDCloudy I absolutely love the PVR Superplex at DLF Mall of India & it’s my go-to theatre! The PXL screen does have some visible dots, but the overall experience is still fantastic, and the other standard screens are great as well. That said, there's something uniquely impressive about the screen size at Miraj Maximum, it really leaves an impact.
Oh i remember AerenR IMAX so much. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Eagle Eye, The Dark Knight, Avatar. Alice in Wonderland. These five films I got to watch and HBP and The Dark Knight remains imprinted in my mind. The opening shot of WB and Legendary logo suddenly transitioning into this giant 70 foot tall and 95 foot wide image was stunning, and Heath Ledger's face reveal. That is probably the most memorable IMAX moment I have ever had, and the second most memorable cinema experience I have ever experienced after Lawrence of Arabia's 8K remaster at Nandan 1 South City's IMAX, albeit good, does not even hold a candle to AerenR IMAX. Honestly, having watched in many IMAX screens of India, none of them do. PVR ruined a fantastic theater by making it a shoddy PXL with poor atmos setup and horrible projection with tons of chromatic aberration for the discernable eye. They could have turned it into a 1.43 IMAX Laser GT venue and the entirety of Asia would have flocked to Kolkata for it, as it would have been the only Laser GT cinema in the continent apart from Grand Cinema Sunshine in Toshima Japan. To think that the IMAX film projector, a worshipped commodity, is sitting in Mani Square's Store room and getting destroyed with each passing day, breaks my cinema enthusiast heart.
Wow. Thanks for sharing your experience! I watched Endgame at South City IMAX and its a standard INOX IMAX experience I hope Kolkata gets a Laser IMAX next at the very least. IMAX Laser and an IMAX DMR 4K DCP of a movie is some of the best imagery I’ve seen. What IMAX lacks in size, they make up for it in fidelity Even the Xenon projector at South City is a kickass 2K projector with their high bitrate content.
@@KDCloudy It is. IMAX films shot on IMAX still look really good on the screen of south city. But 70MM is a different beast altogether, and only those who have seen it can testify why it is so revered. Grapevine says we are getting a second IMAX at Phoenix Marketcity Alipore, which is due to open next year, so let's see
Thank you so much for creating these videos and addressing questions every true IMAX fan in India has had. You've carefully covered every 70mm IMAX theater across the country also which were about to be an IMAX and it's truly impressive. I used to have so many doubts, and you've clarified them all. Looking forward to seeing more amazing content from you in the future!
Once again, a very well-researched, informative video on the lost IMAX 70mm theatres of India. The Kolkata segment was the most interesting since you could dig up a lot more information about it. It's sad that Kolkata no longer has a GT IMAX 70mm, but the PXL screen, housed inside that auditorium is still impressive. Keep up the good work! Hope to learn more about the lost movie theatres of India through future episodes from you.
I have been to the auditorium that used to be imax in Pacific Mall Ghaziabad. It seemed liked they haven't taken down the large screen but hid most of it with black curtain to accommodate smaller projection. Really hope that someday PVR or Cinepolis acquires that multiplex and reconvert that auditorium to IMAX with 1.43:1 Imax laser projection.
Really appreciate the effort put in this video Went to pacific mall shown in the video few months ago,it really feels like really old mall stuck in 2009.Fascinating to know about its history Hope in future these theaters get restored
I used to live in Ghaziabad, very close to Pacific. I was 9-10 years old, but I remember watching Spider-Man 3 there. It was so different than any theatre I had been to before till then.
KD excellent content! Can you make a detailed video only explaning IMAX projectors from GT, Digital to XT. Especially talking about its specification like 2k and 4K output.
I refrain from doing that kind of a video because there’s no publicly available spec sheet. All confidential information. A Japanese channel used to do that and it got banned.
Thank you Bhai for making these videos. I always fascinated by IMAX and have been often advocated for these. Anyways, Is there any new 70mm IMAX theatre coming up to India?
New 70mm bhul jao. New 70mm theatres haven’t opened in 25 years Last two 1.43 Laser theatres were IMAX Sydney and IMAX GA Pooler. Only two examples in the past 10 years
I watched Avatar in ArenR IMAX kolkata in 2010. I remember the ticket pricing was 150, 200, 300. I bought ₹150 ticket. 14 years have passed but I still remember the experience.
After IMAX, the next best thing would be to cover P[XL] theatres. Man, I love them, especially the one at Bangalore, Orion Mall. Have also heard a lot about EPIQ screens too. That should be interesting.
Hmm, PXL venues don’t feel as iconic for me to make a video about, especially when I’ve seen so little consistency across their venues in India - PXL is just a brand they apply for audis over 200 seats. Some PXLs in Mumbai don’t even have Laser projection, but some are reallyyy good
@@KDCloudy Yep. PXL at Pune sounded bad. Visually, it was good but definitely not audio wise. So, hence comes the issue with standards & how clearly it's defined and followed. I'll leave it up to you to decide. You're doing a good job already. I know, the audience might seem limited but they're all passionate people.
Been tracking a lot of history of IMAX in India lately, hope to visit at least Ahemdabad IMAX before its shut down, so regretfully idky about PACIFIC Ghaziabad IMAX , I live 10 mins away from it, recently saw DEVARA in it and man, it hurts what could it have been. i believe LOGIX IMAX, Noida is currently the best in country, biggest in size only the sharpness is arguable with laser ones but hands down the true and best commercial IMAX active .... loved your videos on this.
Dennis Villanueva says PLF like IMAX and others are to be the future of cinema. As TV's in our living rooms are getting bigger, cinemas shall be forced to introduce giant screen sizes to attract spectators to theatres.

He also said that he had not the felt 3D like anywhere before. Thanks KD for the video and I also have your number.lmao
Kd firstly i loved the video but i have a genuine question well what do u think is the future for imax currently with all these theatres bring imax with laser will it ever hit its true potential? Personally i want that 70mm experience again
I don’t think corporate is trying to push 70mm at all as there’s very little business incentive to do it 1.43 Laser is the best we can expect. Film projectors are not offered by IMAX anymore
I recently watched Joker: Folie à Deux (I didn't like the movie) but the experience was fab as it is shot in the 1.78:1 ratio ig (it filled the whole screen, so it was like I'm sitting right in the middle of what's happening)... I also watched Deadpool and Wolverine and Godzilla X Kong, the 3D was far better than any other theatre I've visited, It would've been great if it still was an IMAX theatre. And also the pricing is very cheap like very very cheap compared to those so-called IMAX theatres..
the PXL screen at PVR mani square shows every film in the standard format, :( its not large format. Also the Kolkata Science city is an IMAX dome as far as i know
Interesting I have visited both the IMAXes at Chennai, and have visited VR Mall multiple times yet never got a chance to watch PXL. Someday! Yet to visit PXL Orion in BLR. Have visited the PXL at Forum South
Great video. It took me a week to calmly watch the video and the Brahmastra joke was nice 😂 1 suggestion though, please light your videos a little brighter.
HLG really screws up my skin tones if not lit well indoors. I’m in the process of upgrading my lighting equipment and also move to a PQ based workflow for my videos. Might move to HDR10 instead of HLG
