I remember watching movies in Aeren R IMAX Kolkata mostly during the 2009-2011 period with my college friends. it was amazing to witness movies on such an epic scale.. wish it had never closed. The new IMAX at the South City Mall is a joke compared to the old one. It's basically a LieMax. 😅
I had seen a movie on Prasad IMAX in Hyderabad during a visit to the city, the sheer size of the screen & the gallery was intimidating..

@@KDCloudy And now I'm a subscriber to your channel. The BFI IMAX are proving to be a good source of help and information. Prior to Michael Ford there getting in touch with me and then finally, two years later, shooting the videos there no one ever seemed able to get into the booth to do anything much. Now they're considered one of the top venues in the world and quite right too. I think you'd love it there.
By the way, I've seen Omnimax and Omnimax 3D too. Astounding, both versions but with the active 3D on that hemispherical screen things really did come off of it and go past us. No other 3D I've seen has ever come close to that.
      John.

I have watched a lot of movies here. The dome documentaries, lion king, matrix revolutions formatted to the dome. Then all the marvel movies when it was converted to flat screen. I also happened to catch the final movie which was the Avatar 2. The theater was pretty abandoned by then only the imax screen was running. I was caught off guard by the closing of the theater and then realised i had luckily seen the final film there. RIP Imax.

A really good video about the history of the Theatre/Company which started the multiplex trend in Mumbai.
Was lucky to watch a couple of films there and create a lifetime of memories. Endgame And Nope being the best experiences. (Coincidentally watched Pathaan just before the theatre's closure without any clue 😬)
PS: In an old interview of Mr. Manmohan Shetty on being asked about starting the first multiplex in India, and PVR on the other hand saying there were the ones who did it, he replied "We 'Built' the first multiplex in India, PVR 'converted' bunch of single screens and called it 'multiplex', we did it from scratch."
A lot of respect for him for starting this.

Yess interior and maintenance does play a big part but I think a major reason for the downfall of GT IMAX in India is that Big Hollywood Studios stopped sending film reels to India. Also to the fact that medium as a whole evolved to digital.

From Avatar to Interstellar i had an opportunity to see imax reel based movies in Prasads. All the way i was going from blr to hyd. Later i was in hyd for 2 yrs. Prasads was my first priority and English movies means imax BIG Screen . Though few movies have waffer thin story and IMAx experience was the saviour. The visuals was fentabulous and imax sound wad impeccable. I saw Tron legacy which was rare sci fi movie in 3d . Am blown out by the 3d visuals. Then StarTrek into the darkness and the list went on on and on. When i heard they are abandoning the GT projector and Digital 3d imax i felt damn low. It was a feather in hyd for entertainment . Later watched 2 movies last year in pcx . WORHT THE HYPE now. Dual 4k lazers n dolby atmos brought the old memories back. Moviephiles are not enough to run the imax movies. Just because of NOLAN request the imax is still maintaining the reel technology otherwise they would have scrapped the old technology.

And then i realised all the three multiplex here is shut down and later on Searching all of them around India is shut down. Now one of the theatre complex at a MALL is now taken by Cinepolis and they are rebranding and making some arrangements there.. Other two are taken by other small agencies and just started playing movies by just rebranding it.

@@KDCloudy Yeah. Covid disrupted their entire flow. There were almost 20 Screens here at Trivandrum which shut down suddenly and made film lovers sad and shocked

So......Preetham Daniel just tweeted Miraj is now taking action to bring IMAX at Wadala.
Is it gonna be 15/70 plus laser or just laser and forget the 15/70 situation?
Orrrr is it going to be the 1st dual laser of india🤞🏻

Don’t expect Dual Laser. Just Single Laser with 1.90 flat screen
      Installation will still go on.

      @@KDCloudy Haha that's right
But they did have 1570 right... so people might expect at least a combo of laser + 15/70
Only if the 1570 projector is still with them or somewhere with management

I live in pune... And here the imax is shit.. Literally a small screen and digital version of imax...

    • @KDCloudy
      @KDCloudy  11 місяців тому +2

Yeah but still atleast you guys have an option to watch full container 1.90 films. Even digital IMAX has higher bitrate contrnt than other theatres, and better 3D.

Oppenheimer doesn't deserve Imax... It's bogus.

That's the reason people like you don't consider cinema an art. Oppenheimer was an art and you will never ever understand it... Go and watch your Jawan, Pathan bullshits.

Yeah i watched the whole movie and there was nothing in the movie apart from some conspiracy theories. No one needs an IMAX for that content.
