  • What is up fam! Today's video is replacing the alternator on the Ls3. Not sure why it went bad with only 23,000 miles on it but oh well. Really easy job that you can accomplish in less than an hour.

had to remove the radaitor fan and intake and disconect hoses, to get my mine , but also i opted for a beefier alternator 330 amp

Seems like it would have been easier to the remove the intake.

I replaced the alternator on my 3.6 and I simply removed the intake, even though it was slightly easier to r&r

How do you know its the alternator ?i got a new battery 6 months ago.. and my car sometimes wont start and after a few tries it will. When it gets cold i think..same engine as yours..

If you hear a whining noise its the alternator or battery indicator light comes which could mean the alternator isn't charging the battery

Battery MIL will come on in the dash, may present the message “Service Battery Charging System” in the information screen, if youre driving like I was, at first your engine will rev but your transmission won’t hardly be getting power, then electrical accessories will shut off one by one, until your engine basically dies. Thats what happened to me. Had to replace the battery bc it ended up shooting the battery to like 4v

hey thanks Jefferson for this video, i was able to simply remove my alternator on my '15 SS and i'll be installing my new OEM when it arrives. were you also seeing your battery just barely hover over 12v? mine isn't going back to ~14.5v even after a 2+hr drive. just did my battery 2 weeks ago too, so that isn't the issue either :(

On some vehicles the PCM controls or regulates volatge like an alternator. You can say that it's a modern voltage regulator but hardwired into the module. Maybe that might be the issue? Or vehicle needs a relearning process. For my battery I am using an AGM. I believe it's not necessary but these are V8s so why not. Now in my situation I did notice at times the voltage drop down to 12.3~12.6 after the alternator swap but then I do it see it jump back to 14 and stay there. Maybe the computer is regulating the voltage for something. It would be best to consult GM or GM shop only. I'll dig into some forums to see if anyone else has had this issue.

@@JeffersonJosueMorales89 no need for the additional research, i've been digging on camaro5.com for several days and found pretty much what i needed to know. i was just curious on what your symptoms were. i got my new ACDelco alternator installed yesterday and i'm finally seeing 14+v charging again. appreciate the reply.

Órale bro Nice. Any vids of your Camaro? I'm trying to buy some headers pretty soon. I would just have to buy them out of state and drive back to Cali lol.

@@JeffersonJosueMorales89 yea i had a video i've been meaning to upload, just put this up: ua-cam.com/video/MtaUNFUoz-8/v-deo.html. Kooks headers w/test pipes and the stock NPP exhaust with valves open. hope you like it.
btw i'm still having issues with my charging system, turns out our cars have a "Battery Current Sensor" which regulates the ongoing charging. i'll hit 14.4+v when "cold starting" but it'll slowly come down to 12.v & lower and "Battery Saver Active" will appear on my dash. i'm replacing that sensor tomorrow in hopes that it'll finally fix this issue. i'll let you know how that goes. since you replaced your alternator, have you had any issues since then?
