When Adora needed Catra's support and understanding the most, Catra walk away, all because she thinks Adora chose Weaver over her. What a great redemption arc! Remember the song "I'll stand by you"? Yeah, Catra didn't do that. Catra doesn't love Adora, she loves having Adora to herself. She views Adora as a prized possession, not a life partner.
@@cartoonking1789 🎵"We are Villains forever, we are Bad Guys together We backstab each other and so much more. No matter what comes, we fight by any weather We are selfish to the core!" 🎶 Probably either sung Tirek, Crysalis and Cozy or Horde Prime, Shadow Weaver and Catra
Change doesn't happen over night and old habits are hard to break. Throughout the series, Catra suffers from her childhood trauma and abuse and that causes her to act in self preservation. The things Catra does don't make logical sense and that's the point, she has inadvertently inherited Shadow Weaver's twisted world view and she's still struggling to change.
"so much wasted potential" At every step, this series skips character development, world building, and story because, to the writers, the important thing is the shipping. They're not even going the rom-com route of developing relationships between the characters most of the time. They simply say, "Hey! These two are a Thing now!" Seriously the most developed ship in the whole series is the Entrapta/Hordak one, and even that is stilted in episodes like this.
I just don't think I get Catra as a character, there are times like this when she seems genuinely.... I guess remorseful for lack of a better term for miserable sulking like when scorpia left, but then turns right back around to the same bitter, petty, controlling, reckless, vindictive self-agrandizing fanfic villain she's been for most of the series, not to mention the awkward moments of self-doubt or outright paranoia, this.... is not someone with a healthy mind, this is someone who desperately needed help and support for years. And I get it, she was abused (though in what manner I don't think has ever been fully specified, let alone shown) by the horde, maybe mostly shadow weaver, but that doesn't really justify anything she's done, even in the first episode, first ten minutes of her character introduction, she almost got both herself an adora killed by fighting over the controls of a.... I think some kind of boat, and she just laughed that off. And she's the only one who ever acts like this or gets any attention for her abuse, none of the other trainees we see (aside from kyle) seem maladjusted or have similar tendencies, the show practically trips over itself after the first season to remind us that Adora would just take any abuse Catra gave and just stick by her, which isn't a good look for the shipping. Do, you think she has some kind of severe bipolar disorder? She clearly has something like it at the very least, I admit, my aspergers and head injury tend to make it difficult to pick up, makes me wonder if the only people who like her are of a similar sort, I mean Tumblr's just a well-adjusted hive of scum and villainy ain't it, but I hope that isn't the case, despite some bad blood with a few people on there, I don't want to think ill of anyone.
@@icedcream414 I don't think I could explain it any better, she comes off as very bipolar, has little regard for others and even herself at times, throughout she always gets to be the one who gets the leg up on the other characters, the one who always came out on top despite having the emotional maturity of a pre-teen yet in this last season everyone constantly treats her like she's some fragile flower or she's made this big character defining revelation about herself and changed for the better just because she feels bad sometimes about what she did in the past (convienently without ever having to actually say it.) Sure saving glimmer was a step in the right direction but I feel like the actual saving part wasn't actually her goal, yet I constantly find comments about people justifying this behavior as again 'she feels bad about it so that makes her redeemable." I'm sure that logic works well for some people but I've never known anyone with the baggage catra has and the lengths she goes to as being very forgivable. I just don't think I can understand that type of mindset, or the appeal to it. I'm talking about Catra, and by extension her fans/shippers.
@@DigitalGame18 oh thanks I don’t fully get it either But you can probably get why she has little regard for herself sometimes considering what shadow bitch always used to tell her
@@DigitalGame18catra’s character could’ve been handled a lot better tbh, she’s cool sometimes, other times I feel like they don’t do a good job showing us why shadow weaver loves Adora and Hates Catra she just does bad they had a lot of time to explore that and chose not too I felt like it was a big missed opportunity. Also i agree, Catra shows no remorse or anything toward Angela’s death, it’s just glossed over like it never happened
The way Catra treats Adora is disgusting and from what we've seen from previous seasons and flashbacks from their childhood, things haven't changed.I get that she was abused but technically so was Adora and every other child soldier forced to fight for the Horde. What makes her so fricken special?!The fact that these two end up together after all she's done to the world,to the princesses,Glimmer's mother and especially Adora herself makes my skin crawl.Theirs is a perfect example of toxic relationship glorified and praised by media and fans alike.
It's super disgusting and it's really sad. I use to like Catra back in Season 1 until I started noticing the red flags in her relation ship with Adora.
The only reason people love this ship is cause they are SUPER G AY FOR EACH OTHER 💕💕💕 ugh 🙄 If this was a straight couple, people would cancel it instantly. But naaaah, lesbians can't be toxic to each other, they are soft jock and bully goals 🥺💕. Ugh.
I wouldn't exactly call it a toxic relationship granted Catra has a lot of issues you need to work out but over time I think she can be a good person but things like this takes time
Adora is an example of what happens when you don’t treat your main protagonist as a main protagonist, they won’t progress. And since other characters tend to reflect or build off of the protagonist, other characters won’t be able to progress either. So when we get moments that are supposed to be major, like She-Ra getting a new design or Catra leaving, none of it feels earned or impactful.
So Catra doesn't care about the other princesses safety or all the people who die in the war because of Horde Prime ,All she care about is Adora ... Anastasia from Cinderella 3 has a way better redemption arc than Catra
People just keep boot licking this show and I can't for the life of me understand why. It's so heavily flawed, the story makes little to no sense, the characters are toxic and the ships are toxic! There are just so many problems that I'm wondering if people only like this because "lol representation always make show good". I'm all for lgbt representation. I'm in the community myself but adding representation does not automatically make a show good, assuming this is the only reason people like this show.
I know right? It's ok to like it, but the show is definitely not on par with Avatar or even Steven Universe. All this praise is more like shilling because the showrunner is lgbt and the show shallow water lgbt representation. This show is below average at best, not some masterpiece that has interesting lore. Even the representation is terrible because the characters are one dimensional, rarely used, and have disturbing implications. It's not good
@@alejandrocervantes3624 yeah but Korra was also toxic. Look at Bolin and Mako and how the show trated her after that, with praise, because of course she gets everything in a silver plate.
@@Slitheringpeanut Yep considering that her wife did cheat on her and emotionally manipulate her to stay in their abusive relationship which she romanticized in a small comic called “Stay” which the title of the last episode and apparently she was self harming while she was working on the show & didn’t get help till later.
I'm going to give an unpopular opinion: Shadow Weaver is the only villainous character that deserves to be integrated into the hero group. Not Catra, and certainly NOT Hordak. Shadow Weaver did kill a man, manipulate Micah, abuse Catra and torture Glimmer. But she also saved Micah's life from a Horde attack, taught Glimmer magic (something her useless aunt never did), gave the heroes crucial information about the Horde, told Adora the truth about her past, and ultimately saved the world by telling everyone about the fail safe. Yet she is constantly mistrusted and hated on by the cast. Meanwhile Catra has personally tortured Adora and friends (emotionally and physically), destroyed Selenius thus killing dozens if not hundreds, forsook EVERY chance she had to live a happy and free life, abused those under her (Scorpia etc), attempted to sell out the entire WORLD to Horde Prime, nearly annihilated the entire world because of petty jealousy and is the reason why Angela is essentially dead. But she saved Glimmer ONCE (after she already fell out of favor with Horde Prime) and has pretty much done nothing else for the heroes besides insult them. Yet CATRA is supposed to be the redeemable one. Most of Shadow Weaver's crimes were committed DECADES ago, and they still get thrown in her face. But Catra nearly ended the world WEEKS ago yet everyone is willing to forgive and forget that? I honestly like Shadow Weaver's sarcasm and pessimism. It provides a genuinely entertaining contrast to the heroes' personalities and her connection to both Adora and Micah makes her interactions with them, Castaspella and Glimmer interesting to watch. While Catra...honestly she should have stayed dead.
As much as I hate to admit it, you are right. So far shadow weaver has done more good and had been more productive than Catra ever was. And she is willing to help the group despite her pessimistic nature. The only thing is she should have had time to actually interact with Glimmer, Castaspella, and Micha for them to work out their differences. Catra makes NO god damn effort to be redeemable yet EVERYONE is willing to forgive her despite how SHE nearly destroyed the world, abused Adora, sold them out to Hoard Prime, AND caused queen Angela to be TRAPPED BETWEEN DIMENSIONS!!! She can't be redeemed at this point and live a happy ending. If she is redeemed, it may as well be through self sacrifice.
To be honest, Shadow Weaver, Kyle and to a lesser extent Angela, Lonnie and Rogelio are more of the show's better characters in their small ways. Micah is good too.
Okay, I mentioned in a previous video that I found it ironic how the She-Ra reboot has such a huge emphasis on forgiving past enemies, which is a VERY big part of the Christian faith, despite Noelle’s apparent gripe with it as far as I know. Jesus taught us to love our enemies. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean that they can get away with the wrongdoings they were doing before. Redemption is about changing for the better and atoning for your mistakes. About humbling yourself and placing the needs of others before yourself. Adora is actually showcasing a very selfless act love of willingly sacrificing herself for those she loves. Yes, love is about putting another’s needs before your own, but if the other person is taking advantage of it then that’s NOT LOVE. I feel bad for Adora. Catra is beating at her crippling insecurities and Adora just takes its. No. Loving someone should NOT make you a pushover. Love is selfless and kind, it does not envy or keep record of wrongs or aims to please itself. I don’t even watch She-ra, but after watching these videos I can say, with the upmost confidence, that Catadora is the absolute WORST example of “true love” I have ever seen since Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray. Yes, I know they’re technically the same thing but you get my point.
Micah was the MOST threatening adversary of the whole series!!! But it would have been a GREAT chance to show exactly WHY Castaspella is the Queen of Mystacore and show how truly powerful she is. But, nah. They did her dirty all series long! She went from being THE most powerful and knowledgeable magic user of Etheria to being some runt that can't even measure up to Glimmer.
. Carts flips between seeming like she is genuinely trying and acting like a selfish and toxic person on a dime. Unlike shows that take similar routes with their villains, Netflix She-ra didn’t think about tackling hard subjects and making her sympathetic. It was all about shipping. Everything was rushed to the last few episodes. None of the characters really change in a good way throughout the series, but Catra takes the cake. They wanted her to act like an Azula and then treated her like a Zuko. The writers from Avatar, for example, understood how to make a character flip flop in a way that mattered. They took time to establish what the abuse was like, both physical and verbal, and they established that he wasn’t all in for the Fire Nation’s current plan. They set up his guilt, and they gave him a chance to realize that he could live without what he wanted, then he got it and realized that what he wanted wasn’t good for him. The flip flop enhanced his development. Meanwhile Catra is only heavily implied to have been verbally abused, and possibly physically as well, and we have no reason to believe the other cadets weren’t. She almost never shows remorse, she is only sorry for a few moments before being petty and vindictive again. They try to paint her as romantic when she abandons her love interest for literally no reason. She goes insane like Azula, she pushes people away like Azula, she wants power like Azula, and she is remorseless like Azula. Azula was portrayed as a tragic villain with no real dignity without her power. Catra was shown as a tragic hero who did everything for love. They don’t even give her an arch like Claudia from The Dragon Prince. They wanted enemies to lovers but forgot that that is usually toxic. They should have just made two separate characters: one to be a tragic love interest and one to be a tragic hero.
Catra: At least you admit she’s evil. Shadow Weaver: You’re one to talk. Seriously, I wish that somewhere in the show, Catra or someone bluntly tells her that she basically turned into Shadow Weaver. Think about it: - They both abuse the people they supposedly “love”. - They manipulate others to get their way. - If their decisions seem selfish or unmoral they always turn the tables to make themselves the victim. It would’ve made Catra’s redemption much more believable when she realized she turned into the monster that she feared/hated for years.
I'm glad to see someone else point out part of Adora's self sacrificing shit is from Catra's actions so it's really rich for Catra to be upset about it.
Even Adora joining the alliance is Catra's doing because of her recklessness. All Catra has been is a thorn in Adora's side since the beginning and it's frustrating the show never acknowledges it, the rabid fans either blame Adora or refuse to acknowledge it, only a few fans are aware, and the show can't be criticized without being accused as an ist phobe for doing so. At least with Twilight, Fifty Shades, and other similar novels, it's fantasy fulfillment (regardless of quality of said books). This, on the other hand, is disturbing mishandle therapy escapism that supposed to be touted as "Female Empowerment" and LGBT representation.
Yes I get that and I think I agree. But so what? Catras emotions don‘t care for what we real life people think is reasonable. Also real life people‘s emotions can be contradictionary. I don‘t really get how just pointing this out is framed as a criticism of Catra‘s character.
@@Alina_Schmidt Well considering the show never points out that Adora's self sacrifice tendencies is Catra's fault, I think it's important to call out the terrible writing.

Again Catra is ABUSIVE! (Sorry Long one here) She doesn't CARE about anyone but herself she wants COMPLETE control over Adora, not affection. She doesn't THINK LET ALONE CONSIDER that she had ANY contribution to this mess that she helped create YET she feels no way about dipping out on someone she LOVES to make Adora feel like crap trying to SAVE THE WORLD. As was stated in the video she had opportunities to change but she is like NOPE IT IS MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY! She chooses and the series is so busy with trying to FORCE Adora and Catra together they don't understand they were NEVER meant to be. You can forgive Hordak (Moody sad sack of a daddy who only needs love from the right woman), Shadow Weaver (self-absorbed mum that is trying to live through her token child....she needs a reality check), and Adora's crew (forgettable foster kids who need a new home). THEY can be forgiven along with the mind-controlled people. From what I saw they could have made Catra a monster having both figures regret what they made her into and help her in discovering who she truly is once they come to terms with what they have done... but NAH she is a monster all on her own that we as an audience MUST love. The delusional audience members that CLAIM she GREW in the series don't see the big picture. SHE IS AN ABUSIVE CONTROLLING MANULIPUATIVE MONSTER who Shadow weaver was RIGHT about! She DOES drag Adora down at EVERY turn to bring her down TO HER LEVEL and keep her in her place and as EVERY depiction of the Abuse cycle goes blank slate Adora comes back FOR MORE... because of pretty words or half-hearted kind gestures completely forgetting what SHE needs and wants out of the relationship...or their friendship?? (Seriously what is with series these days putting 'FRIENDS' in the title OR as a description of their relationship when they don't know what the word means anymore!) Also...side note(s) here IT'S A FREAKIN WAR! The series has NO time for this LITERALLY! Noelle and staff are making it out to be a walk in the park or a little scuffle here or there. IT IS A WAR! Screw the shippings and focus! 1/ These characters have yet to show they give a damn about ANYONE BUT who they like and...yeah that is it...and I am bloody well sure they don't even THINK about the situation or options that are in front of them. 2/They don't seem to care about the well being of others or even bystanders...AND THEY ARE THE HEROES; because they are ALLOWING their super-powered friends to run a muck 3/The threat of the bad guys means NOTHING cause of the way they are going about it. Lastly 4/How they are with one another you KNOW THEY would have a bunch of casualties in their friendship squad from the get-go. I am sick of this show hell I am sick of shows like this not trying or not doing any research about it (IF it is a reboot or remake of some sort). I am sick of the praise that it doesn't deserve. It was clearly written by an inexperienced team that could care less about the source material. YES make it your own but this right here is a product that was made for themselves (Netflix Shera staff/ Like-minded individuals.) When you do that you isolate yourself. You gain brownie points not for your craft but for who you are willing to pander to. You don't grow as a creator you stay stilted to redo the same mistakes over and over. They were too wrapped up in a villain power fantasy that they went too far and forgot to make Catra anything other than a controlling brat even when she's a "good guy".
@@CoolG97 the main difference between Zuko and Catra is that even when Zuko is still the bad guy in Book 1 ,he still have alot of selfless moment (decide to save Iroh instead of chasing Aang, disguises as the Blue Spirit to save Aang ,choosing his crew safety instead of capturing Aang even when he's right at front of him) But when Catra is in the good guy side she's still the selfish Brat that she is ,no redeeming quality at all

Can we all agree that Catra shouldn't have been saved and stayed chipped..? I don't see any real reason why she has to be here aside from Noelle Stevenson wanting to make a brutally wrecked ship sail... Very clumsily I might add.
Exactly and What made me even more mad was they would rather go out of their way to Save Catra then save Queen Angella from two dimensions which wasn't fair and No one communicates on this show so That's pretty frustrating like for me I'd rather go save Queen Angella then go save catra Because at least queen angella would be grateful and not act like a spoiled selfish bitch like Catra is and Honestly Catra Should have been trapped between two dimensions She Was the one that started the portal and Queen Angella had to fix her mess by being Trapped between two dimensions just to save Reality and Nobody calls Catra out for that and It feels like they're letting Catra Get away with murder and i'm not okay with that also It's definitely not fair for King Micah To come back from beast island All these years and come home to find out that Queen Angella is gone and that has to hurt Especially for him For not seeing the love of his life for so many years and that hurts And nice going Catra 😡
Someone did artwork of Catra reimagined as Dogra, and I joked that the conflict of this series would have dramatically lessened if Dogra existed instead. She'd join Adora without a second thought, and the main point of comedy would be her growling at other potential love interests. Certainly would've been more entertaining than Catra's "I'm not going to join you, because I want power. Oh wait, I've actually be in love with you since forever, so sorry for trying to kill the universe." arc.
What happened to "show dont tell" or "action speaks louder than words?" This show thst they praised for being LGBT+ representation and women empowerment but yet again there's just too many stuffs that needed answers, but nope, they just litreally waste it for the sake of shipping and proms. And man I hate how they write Catra, she was being abusive not just to Adora, to everyone else and she got redemption too fast just because she saved Glimmer. And yet again still hurting Adora.
And she saved Glimmer for the wrong reasons, mind you. Catra didn't free her because she felt sorry about what happened to her Mother or because she helped the Horde destroy Etheria.....no, she saves Glimmer so her precious Adora wouldn't get captured. If a random Alien had been in that Cell, I don't think Catra would have gone through all that trouble. And let's not forget that Catra basically teleported Glimmer out into the dark void of Space without a Suit. She didn't know that there would be a Forcefield to protect her.
I feel like adora self esteem issues and catra insecurities have become such a defining part of their personalities that the writers themselves don't know how to write them outside of it. Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker.
Their only personalities outside of Adora’s self esteem issues and catra’s insecurities is their romantic relationship, they are as flat as everything else in the show.
I sadly thought that this was gonna be like that, because I seen the Adora concept art it looked awesome. But look we got this garbage instead, my disappointment. It's not only bad art and animation, it's characters are terribly written. Edit this series got to be completed while the 2002 MOTU, and Thundercats 2011, got canceled. If she has change she should be more understanding of the situation at hand but she doesn’t, and then immediately makes situation about her and adora.

Why is Adora still having confidence issues in the LAST season? Shouldn't she have more faith in herself by now? And it would be nice if Catra would take responsibility for her actions instead of blaming Adora. And it is incredibly frustrating how so much potential is wasted on shipping and not developing their characters further.
But that’s their personalities, it’s being unsure of herself for Adora, never taking responsibility for Catra, and they share shipping. That’s all there is to them.
Unlike MLP, She-Ra doesn't have the Time to constantly have Characters relearn Lessons. Especially not in the last Season! Cartoon Gentleman criticized that as well: We already HAD this Plot of Adora having doubts and not being able to transform before.
@@johannesseyfried7933 So it‘s good that this is not the conflict that actually is taken out in the last episodes. It has elements of this, sure. But the actual conflict is about Adora feeling forced to self sacrifice as THE thing she can and has to do for the ones she loves.

One of the most basic truths to good storytelling is if you want to grow the story you MUST grow the characters. I suspect the show runner, Noel Stevenson I believe, simply doesn't know how to do that. She wanted emphasize who's sleeping with whom and ignore the story and character growth. I saw so much potential and hoped for a more sophisticated story in the first episodes. Halfway through season two I threw up my hands as said "screw it... I'm out." This whole series is looking more and more pointless... Now we see why Mattel got so angry.
If the writers didn't want the brain chipped characters to be saved when the good guys have the chance, then why not have it so that removing the chip would prove fatal? It's almost over! And somehow it feels like almost nothing has been concluded considering how close to the finale they are. Either Adora shuts off the Heart (which could result in her Death), or Horde Prime gets the Heart and all the Magic in the Universe (which will definitely result in her Death. As well as Catras and everybody else's).

Entrapta mentioned that Swift Wind was a “bird-horse hybrid” back in Beast Island, when Entrapta was rescuing them with her robot thing. Swiftly was highly offended and insisted he wasn’t a bird.
It doesn't feel like Catra is upset that Adora is always the one that needs to sacrifice. It feels more like she's upset that Adora has once again chose someone else and not Catra. Since the beginning Catra had a problem with Adora picking other people over her like when Adora chose to listen to Glimmer and Bow and not Catra about the Horde, or when she chose to be friends with Lonnie when they were kids, or when Adora chose to fix reality instead of living in a broken lie with Catra, and even now when Adora chose to save the world instead of listening to Catra.
We're suppose to sympathize with Catra right? Because all this makes her look VERY selfish and more concerned with her own validation than the fate of the world.
Yeah, but there are times, like you mentioned with Lonnie, that she's not choosing someone OVER Catra, she's just including people OTHER than just Catra. She wants Adora to be completely and totally devoted only to her alone, and that's just selfish and unrealistic.
Yeah, this is always the relationship that is talked about positively when ever they praise the show, but this relationship is really toxic. It reminds me of Life is Strange and the relationship between Max and Chloe. Chloe is irresponsible, clingy and blaming other people for her problems and even Max's alternate self from her dream comes out and tells her Chloe is toxic. People keep saying Save Chloe was the right choice and will give you a landry list of reasons why.
This show is nothing else but trope leading to a shipping set up to another trope leading to another shipping scene. What’s the point? Catra is completely insufferable and annoying.
These aren't character archs that weren't completed, because there was nothing to complete. They're just tropes the writers liked, and most of the cast are just there because they were in the original. He-Man 2002 did more with the cast then this show ever did. The whole "chip fuses to the host" sounds like another wasted plot since there's only so much left and will be resolved poorly and be a big disappointment. Just like the rest of this show.
Honestly, I'm fine with Weaver working for the Rebellion because the Horde doesn't want her anymore. She's an opportunistic Monster that sides with one Group as long as they are useful for her. Siding with Prime doesn't seem like something she would do. Horde Prime doesn't have Allies, only Slaves.
Given the ending, the wordplay with "I'm not doing this cause I like you", could have sweet and endearing, like when someone says, "No, I don't like you- I LOVE YOU!" Alas, any drama or character development was sacrificed for making Catra play the Woobie.
@@cartoonking1789 Please, for quality you need higher budget and paying that much for virtue signaling is idiotic, because news flash representation in a cartoon show is not appaealing to paying customers.
This WHOLE series, which is just shoddy craftsmanship, came from a writer who made a decent Adventure Time bit about Fionna and Cake looking for their sweaters. Trust me, that bit is actually not that bad, dare I say good. I want to know what went wrong with the writer
The Owl House is one of my favorite cartoons right now and it realy pains me when people compare it to this shitshow, especialy the romance. Amity is undoubtfully the weakedt chain of The Owl House, but the entirety of Shera pales in comparason to her alone. I don't like Amity because I found jer change of heart too suden and fast but I prefer it to this mess. No matter how much I dislike her arc, at least Amity has changed and isn't constantly trying to pull Luz back into a toxic anviroment Luz sacrificed everything to leave. The show constantly tries to provide the illusion of Catra developing by making her work with everyone. She acts differently because she's in a diferent situation. All the nasty atributes that make her such a terrible person are still there. She still acts as if Adora is there only for jer pleasure, has the constant need for control and is overall being a borderline sociopath. Not to mention how much better TOH is at representation. Even before the series began the writters were teasing CatAdora with their relationship being up for entroupritation (i realy do not know khow to spell that word I am not from an English speaking country sorry) at best up until it's last season where they just shoehorned in the romantic subolot (or just the entire plot and reason for this show exsisting in the first place) despite iz making little to no sence and plus they had other shit that they didn't do. The Owl House simply treats it's romance as an organic part of it's story and does not need to shy away from these topics just because they are both girls. As someone who is bisexual I do feel impowered by these characters, because it's treated the same way a heterosexual relationship would be treated. It doesn't feel the need to be a soap opera because it takes the demogarfic they are representing as normal people.
2 or 3 seasons seems about right. Season 1, 2 and 3 were basically one season on a regular network. 4 and 5 . . . Were they long enough to count as a whole season?
One neat idea would be if they explored more of Hordak's defect. Maybe even explore that his defect wasn't what people thought it was. It could be a clever moment like when sigma and Zero swapped the Wiley virus. Maybe Hordak's defect was actually a featured crafted into him by the first ones who built him as a secret trump card to take out Horde prime from the inside. Horde prime never saw the defect as Alarming, but did see it to effect Hordak's performance, and thus had him banished. The secret feature to Hordak though would be that if Horde prime forced his consciousness inside him for too long, it would permanently fuse to Hordak, and thus if Hordak were to die, so would Horde prime. Not only would this be a means to a better form of Hordak's penance, but it would tie up loose ends, and even vindicate the first ones a bit to show they were seeking other plans besides their glass canon. Another missed opportunity I guess.
The lack of proper arc and character development and payoffs hurts my soul. I'm an amateur who writes RP's and fanfics, but even I know THIS IS NOT HOW YOU WRITE!!
They're trying to mix two different things in one for the chip. They're trying to (1) Have characters be mind controlled unwilling so that they can join the baddie b/c it looks cool and is easier to do WHILE ALSO (2) have character moments where their loved ones talk them down from evil. BUT THEY CAN'T COEXIST IF IT'S AGAINST THEIR WILL IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! They're trying to execute two different concepts that require contradicting ideas for it to work in the first place and so it just won't work well together. I yelled at the screen when they didn't take Micah with them. The world is ending and Adora literally has no option, does Catra have alternatives?! I know she doesn't care about anyone else since she almost destroyed the world the last time but she should at least care about Adora not to see her killed, right? Keep Up The Good Work~!
I can't help but notice that during this scathing review, with M getting _angry_ at one point, that just about everything said about Entrapta is how _helpful_ she is (or could be). That says something. (It says I should work on my fic. : p)
You know what, because I watch these reviews, I keep getting youtube recommendations of _fan_ videos. And they are inane! It's almost like a clue to the level of thought that went into this cartoon, in both making in and enjoying it.

There's no character development 5. Awful central theme 4. Is pretentious 3. Bad Moral Messages 2. Is not original/creative/imaginative 1. Is a SJW show
Hate to admit but ShadowWeaver (Besides that chilling Cult Assimilation scene) is probaly the only thing I liked in this season. For at least she falls into the category of ominous councilor/advisor in the back leading the hero's to they're destiny that very may doom the lead, but not caring for in they're head it's the only way for them to succeed in the end. But I can't get over how painfully cheesy Adora's heart symbol/seal is!
Unnecessarily leaving someone because plot, seems to be one of this show's many bad themes, this show could have been over in 13 eps if Catra had just taken Adora in the prom episode, but she left her hanging off the cliff, despite the fact that she held all the cards. Plus again as you said, Adora having to learn the same sodfing lesson for the umpteenth time, none of the characters learning anything, the show is more frustrating than entertaining!
Im bewing dark roasted foldgiers while watching this. Thank you ladys so much for your reviews. Lets face it more people need to hear these reviews although im still kind of mad about how much hate you two get for your observations on how DreamWorks and Netflix treated Castaspella and other characters. Yet Shadow Weaver and Catra can still think that toxic abusive relationships are okay so long as nothing else is addressed like the lack of the SpinTossa ship they wanted to be cannon soooo badly...
yeah, one of the reasons i like the Breakthrough With Forbidden Master and Student novel and manga is that the Tsundere behavior has bad consequences, the MC sees the tsundere princess as just someoe else that looks down on him so he wants nothing to do with her despite their arranged marriage that now is out of the window because the MC started his journey, the Tsundere trope is getting tiresome
@@johannesseyfried7933 the only ones that get a pass on this are Kaguya and Miyuki from Kaguya-sama, because they never resort to violence, and recently their relationship progressed to a point where they talk freely to each other about their worries and Taiga from Toradora because despite being regarded as one of the queens of tsundere she does go through character development and shows that she cares for Ryuji more than other tsunderes usually do for the people they claim they like, on Forbidden Master, though? By the end of the first arc when Earth, our MC goes through his fall from grace, all the tsundere princess, Phiansei earned from the MC was scorn, when he snaps and she tries to calm him and grab a hold of him, he shoves her aside saying"Don't touch me!" The one good thing everyone got from that was that everyone finally realised how they all contributed for the relationship between them to deteriorate and they all want to patch things up with the MC, but he doesn't feel ready to talk to them yet, so when they met again he just kept running and moving foward towards his goal, then a yandere demoness appeared and wants to abduct him apparently.
At least it's almost over, can't think of any other good points about this imposter remake. May your next reviewed aeries be at least somewhat enjoyable for you to watch.
Sorry for such a late reply, I only recently watched the reviews. If I would ever become a showrunner that would get the rights to She-Ra and MOTU. I'd have that one as a must! First match would be with Weaver escaping, and the second one would be super serious fight between them where Casta seals Weaver so she is imprisoned, but it would be showed as super epic fight by the end of the series. Where both show what they're capable of with their magic proficency. And ofc I'd keep Adam as the one who brings Adora to the "light side" and bank on sibling love and support - because honestly how many shows do you know that is using it as a major theme, and they're twins on top of that. He-Man and She-ra were always super meaningful characters, and She-ra without He-Man doesn't really hold up, "By the Honor of Greyscull" doesn't mean anything, it's a hollow catchphrase without her brother that shows her who she really is, about her roots and noble destiny. And I also find it finny how they Scarificed the very meaningful relationship Adora had with Sea Hawk just to pair her to super toxic relationship with Catra. Sea Hawk wasn't introduced as love interest - he started as antagonist that worked for the Horde in order to roam free over the seas. Only when Adora contronted him he changed his views and ways. ONLY AFTER Sea Hawk proved himself and started to work for rebellion, he was worthy of Adora's affection. And he was constantly looking after her, heck he even gave her magic necklace that if she is in trouble he will come ASAP to help her. If that wasn't cute and romantic I don't know what is. So I'd keep this relationship too and also make out of Sea Hawk a total badass with pirate music and show him and his crew relentlesly attacking Horde from the sky and aboarding in true pirate style. That franchise is BEGGING for great action and proper worldbuilding, if it was done right they could even release RPG games that set place in Eternia and Etheria.
Mark Hamil playing a crazy Villain with an unnatural Skin color who wants to destroy a rich young Man with a secret Identity? That's completely unheard of! Revolutionary dare I say!

This show would it been better if it was a rom-com.
She clearly has something going on in her brain and needed to seek a therapist rather than a relationship.
Sorry but I don’t fully understand what you don’t understand about catra
@@icedcream414 I don't think I could explain it any better, she comes off as very bipolar, has little regard for others and even herself at times, throughout she always gets to be the one who gets the leg up on the other characters, the one who always came out on top despite having the emotional maturity of a pre-teen yet in this last season everyone constantly treats her like she's some fragile flower or she's made this big character defining revelation about herself and changed for the better just because she feels bad sometimes about what she did in the past (convienently without ever having to actually say it.)
Sure saving glimmer was a step in the right direction but I feel like the actual saving part wasn't actually her goal, yet I constantly find comments about people justifying this behavior as again 'she feels bad about it so that makes her redeemable." I'm sure that logic works well for some people but I've never known anyone with the baggage catra has and the lengths she goes to as being very forgivable.

Adora is an example of what happens when you don’t treat your main protagonist as a main protagonist, they won’t progress. So when we get moments that are supposed to be major, like She-Ra getting a new design or Catra leaving, none of it feels earned or impactful.

It's a soap opera. Just like in a horror movie the protagonists always make dumb decisions that are blatantly dumb to even untrained eyes.
Except you want the protagonists in horror to die.
Finally. Someone that understands why Shadow Weaver is the best character in this shit show.
@@youknowyoufuckedupright3058 what about Kyle and Angela?
To be honest, Shadow Weaver, Kyle and to a lesser extent Angela, Lonnie and Rogelio are more of the show's better characters in their small ways. Micah is good too.
To me shadow weaver is still a villain even when working to the rebellion and don't even redeem herself dying
Yes, I know they’re technically the same thing but you get my point.

I'd slap Catra and call her a selfish brat. ITS THE WORLD. Come on. Its not like She-Ra is trying to save just one person. Its the world
Not just the world, the whole universe
And by saving the World, she's also saving Catra.
Catra: At least you admit she’s evil.
Shadow Weaver: You’re one to talk.
Seriously, I wish that somewhere in the show, Catra or someone bluntly tells her that she basically turned into Shadow Weaver. Think about it:
- They both abuse the people they supposedly “love”.
- They manipulate others to get their way.
- If their decisions seem selfish or unmoral they always turn the tables to make themselves the victim.
It would’ve made Catra’s redemption much more believable when she realized she turned into the monster that she feared/hated for years.
Sorry to be that guy, but it's "immoral," not "unmoral."

Again Catra is ABUSIVE! (Sorry Long one here)
She doesn't CARE about anyone but herself she wants COMPLETE control over Adora, not affection. (Seriously what is with series these days putting 'FRIENDS' in the title OR as a description of their relationship when they don't know what the word means anymore!)
Also...side note(s) here IT'S A FREAKIN WAR!
You gain brownie points not for your craft but for who you are willing to pander to. You don't grow as a creator you stay stilted to redo the same mistakes over and over. Only resulting in you getting less work or at least fewer eyes on your work...more 'haters' who have honest criticism then you have fans. Cause in all honesty people is getting sick of this ALL of this...when your story GOES nowhere your audience will be out of there!

I sympathize with Azula from Avatar way more than Catra
@@ValenArtsAnimation Or course you do because you can see her upbringing twisted her to be like that BUT she made her choice to stay by her father and didn't make her brother suffer for HER choice going back and forth! They were too wrapped up in a villain power fantasy that they went too far and forgot to make Catra anything other than a controlling brat even when she's a "good guy".
@@CoolG97 the main difference between Zuko and Catra is that even when Zuko is still the bad guy in Book 1 ,he still have alot of selfless moment (decide to save Iroh instead of chasing Aang, disguises as the Blue Spirit to save Aang ,choosing his crew safety instead of capturing Aang even when he's right at front of him)
But when Catra is in the good guy side she's still the selfish Brat that she is ,no redeeming quality at all

@@cartoonking1789 That's sounds more accurate
Someone did artwork of Catra reimagined as Dogra, and I joked that the conflict of this series would have dramatically lessened if Dogra existed instead. She'd join Adora without a second thought, and the main point of comedy would be her growling at other potential love interests.
Certainly would've been more entertaining than Catra's "I'm not going to join you, because I want power. Oh wait, I've actually be in love with you since forever, so sorry for trying to kill the universe." arc.

Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker.

so the very touch of Shadoweaver freaks Catra out......is this the same character that was pineing for Shadoweavers affection just two seasons before? Seems kind of weird to have this reaction when you were established to be perfectly fine with it...or...or did you only NOW start realizing shadow weaver was a vindictive monster? then I guess you just hated her in season 1 because....you just did...
That is because she is tired of falling in her trap
@@luma4902
"Touch freaks her out"
That has nothing to do with falling for a trap.
It is a reaction of someone who has been abused, but she hasn't been acting like an abuse victim when it comes to shadowweaver.
@@lilchristuten7568 because she is trying to get out of the abuse now before she was still lock up in it look i know the show is not good at development this theme at all but this part seems logical to me so i am giving credit where credit is needed
Why is she still freaked out by Shadowweaver, Catra defeated her back in season one
@@KelShu but failed for her emotional manipulation
It’s just Catra being selfish as usual.
Neither way she is totally delusional
Catra and Adora toxic relationship is based off of Noelle's and her wife's relationship
Every time I watch reviews I'm left wondering: "Does logic even exist in this show?"
Nope only shipping and mommy issues
I think logic and lore are a foreign concept to this show. I get the feeling there was no series bible to keep anything consistent.
On this Tombstone you can read: "Here lie Logic, good taste and common sense. You will be missed."
It's a crime that 2002 show got cancelled whole this atrocity got to continue.
@@RollingDodge probably because it was cheap, having staff with people with the bare minimum of skill, talent and effort they put into their work.
My word! This show is just...just awful. Shadow Weaver should've remind a villain and sided with Prime. My thoughts
@@johannesseyfried7933 That's true
To me shadow weaver is a villain even working for the rebellion i dont even think she redeem herself at the end
Given the ending, the wordplay with "I'm not doing this cause I like you", could have sweet and endearing, like when someone says, "No, I don't like you- I LOVE YOU!"
Alas, any drama or character development was sacrificed for making Catra play the Woobie.

This WHOLE series, which is just shoddy craftsmanship, came from a writer who made a decent Adventure Time bit about Fionna and Cake looking for their sweaters. Trust me, that bit is actually not that bad, dare I say good. I want to know what went wrong with the writer
The answer is yes they learn nothing
I can't even stand the character designs when I look at it long enough.
Are these 5 season just 3 season but split to make it last longer?

Expecting the characters to learn from experience is very unreasonable, given the writers' apparent inability to do so.
Catra: It's not like I like you b-bbaka
Hordak: "Hey that's my line!"
"I think this episode could have gone better."
lol MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT.
3:34 "All this potential down the drain" ..... and THAT is why I gave up on this show.

Unnecessarily leaving someone because plot, seems to be one of this show's many bad themes, this show could have been over in 13 eps if Catra had just taken Adora in the prom episode, but she left her hanging off the cliff, despite the fact that she held all the cards. Plus again as you said, Adora having to learn the same sodfing lesson for the umpteenth time, none of the characters learning anything, the show is more frustrating than entertaining!

yeah, one of the reasons i like the Breakthrough With Forbidden Master and Student novel and manga is that the Tsundere behavior has bad consequences, the MC sees the tsundere princess as just someoe else that looks down on him so he wants nothing to do with her despite their arranged marriage that now is out of the window because the MC started his journey, the Tsundere trope is getting tiresome
It was never that fun to begin with.
Especially if the Tsundere constantly hit the Protagonist through Walls or something.

May your next reviewed aeries be at least somewhat enjoyable for you to watch.
The heart glyph on Adora’s chest means “heart” in First Ones Language. Wow, way to be creative show.
Are you serious?!
What we needed- a.MORTAL Kombat style deathmatch between Casta and Weaver to settle their differences once and for all.
What we got- bickering.
If Naruto taught me one thing, it's that illusions can be dangerous weapons.
And that you can talk literally everyone out of being evil.
