Mnhm. In the old Japanese animated movie of the little mermaid I learned that. It was one of my favorite movies growing up. [The English dub of it anyways.] Which that mermaid was named "Marina."
yes, they gave the hair to the witch for a dagger. So the princess had to kill the prince with it otherwise she would turn into sea foam by the dawn. She tries while he's asleep and ultimately can't bring herself to do this. Then she simply accept her fate. Sad shit.
@@kritzkrieg14 Which is why I'm glad Disney Disney-fies these old stories to make them less depressing. I mean I heard that in the original Sleeping Beauty the prince r*pes Aurora, and I just wanna look into the authors eyes and ask " Who hurt you? Why are you like this?".
In general I gotta give this movie props for actually involving her sisters more. The Disney version was mostly just a solo show with Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian.
The fact there are no water effects when they move (like bubbles or those water trails) and that their hair sits perfectly still despite being fully underwater just makes it look like they're all flying on the air... it looks so weird and uncanny.
I've animated 3-4 minute music videos before and let me tell you, doing an entire production on your own is not easy. This is actually quite impressive to me even if it isn't good. Props to him for doing all this on his own. He's definitely found a niche with these low-quality films, and it works. Those facial expressions are gold.
Lol I tried to do a 5 second animation of an eye opening and closing some time ago just to see if I could do it and how it would be and I gave up after like two frames… 🥲 I could never animate an entire movie by myself. But I also tried out stop motion animation in the way that the artist William Kentridge does (always using the same paper and just erasing and redrawing and taking photos of it) for a school project and it went better. I made it 1:40 min long and I had maybe 3000 frames in total. It’s not amazing, but it was still extremely exhausting. So, for a movie animated by a single person, this is actually quite ok.
Ok, as bad as the movie is... The twist of having the human prince turn into a mermaid so he and the little mermaid can be together is actually a pretty interesting idea. It's clearly not utilized well, but if written into a better ver. of this story, this might've been decent-
Ngl the woman who voices the sea witch did a great job. Her voice has a nice raspiness I'm addicted to listening to. I hope she gets more villian roles from actually good companies
I watched this video and didn't pay attention to the VA's since... the animation has... quirks as we can see, but I think I agree after hearing her again. she might be the only redeemable thing about this movie lmao
I like to think the only reason they havent been sued yet, is because their films by comparsion make the films they are ripping off better.Basically like necessary evil.
Dude animated a whole movie by himself. Imagine if he had a budget of 2 or 3 million even and had a small team. Imagine if he had 20 million. The animator is actually quite impressive especially doing it all by himself in 3-5 months. I have to give props knowing the process.
Same- I'm really impressed. This is the best looking Asylum film AND its basically one guy. And that's... a lot of work and a lot to have created all alone. I think it doesn't look bad at all, the mouth movements and the death in the eyes is the major issue, if that was toned down, it wouldn't look like a bad film, a mid ranged one actually, very good for like UA-cam quality to say the least. I'm pretty impressed with it. More so then that- I think if he had some help with facial animations and someone to make models, he could make movies himself and probably go along way. I'm pretty inspired actually.
Yeah, I get a split reaction when seeing the clips from this movie. It's not as good as a "real" film made by a proper animation team, but it's *way* better than you'd expect from one guy working on his lonesome. I mean, just compare it to the "Joshua" movie, which was also basically a one-man project.
So, about the hair thing. In the original fairy tale, the Sea-Witch is more of a literal bargainer. She warns the mermaid that not only will her human feet hurt as if she was walking on needles the entire time, but if she can't make the prince fall in love with her her heart will literally break and her body will dissolve into sea foam. When the prince starts falling in love with another woman, her sisters go to the sea witch and beg her for an out, giving their hair as compensation. In return the sea witch gives them a cursed dagger that will free the little mermaid from the spell if she kills the prince with it. However at the last moment she finds she can't go through with it, throws herself back into the ocean and dies. Yeah, fairy tales.
actually interesting that you cant get anything for free in the original. Wish fulfillment requiring equivalent exchange gives a story a lit of potential that no subsequent remakes took full advantage of 🤔
Right...except for the last part. Not that the little mermaid's death is wrong, it's just a little too simplistic to say that's all that happens. After she turns into foam, she's told by some voice that it's now her duty to watch over children at bedtime, protecting them from nightmares and heartbreak. So it kind of goes from one mythical species to another: the little mermaid becomes the little pixie... Or angel? Or sandman? But there's a reason Disney named her Ariel. She becomes a sky spirit. Anyway it's said the story is an allegory for a crush Anderson had on a (male) fellow writer after he rejected him.
@@SheilaDeBonis So, the voice speaking to her was God (Hans was a devout Christian and many of his stories have religious undertones) and what she became was, I believe, a Sylph, and the deal was that if she did that duty for 100 years or something she'd get a soul, which is why she wanted to marry the prince to begin with because in exchange for being immortal Mermaids don't have souls and have to marry humans in order to become fully human and obtain one. As for ha's crush well, he wasn't rejected because he never actually confessed those feelings. He wrote them in a letter but never sent it because his belief in his faith wouldn't allow him to actively peruse a homosexual relationship. When the letter was found after his death the friend did say that he didn't feel the same way, but that he also felt sorry for the pain those feeling caused Hans.
@@stevenhiggins3055she essentially became a fairy type creature, and while doing good deeds and watching over the children she’d eventually be able to get a soul and enter heaven (in the little mermaid universe mermaids live 300 years but don’t have an immortal soul, so no mermaid afterlife) if during her travels she saw a good child the time it would take for her to get the soul is shortened, bad child, lengthened.
The worst part is the end result is better to me. The prince becoming a mermaid because he wanted a life of adventure and can do so with the princess seems like a great ending. It’s too bad it was brought to the table by asylum
So it rips off the ending of “Splash” (1984) AND the ending of the live action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” in terms of the prince giving up his life on land to be with the mermaid, and the prince and the mermaid wanting to explore the world together.
@@lucillemurphy1102 Splash was good for its time. Bear in mind it's quite old now. If you can appreciate it for its time then you'll enjoy it. It's a sweet rom-com.
"Jerma Anakin" I'm fucking dead. Also, the main character looks uncannily like a Sim I made in sims 4 once, with a massive amount of og mods. Probably one of my proudest creations
They really mixed in EVERY Disney franchise. The villain looks like Mother Gothel AND has a similar motive and off-brand Marinette goes to school + is a fashion designer. They are literally them oh my god.
What's crazy is, the models aren't bad, and the animation (for being done solely by *ONE* man) isn't entirely awful. Imagine if this dude had more funds, more time to hone his craft... he 100% can go _way_ further than bargain bin Mockbusters! EDIT: i ALSO LOOKED A MIKE'S PORTFOLIO! Dude he's talented for a solo animator/artist. Which tells me The Asylum just didn't give him a reasonable amount of time to truly show what he's capable of.
i think the best one was the one that mentioned how in hte original trilogy vader is always on the front lines for his missions, but the second its a sand planet he stays on the ship
The girl pretending to have saved the prince is definitely based off of Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug. Literally has the same color palette and is a fashion designer.
The worst thing is that this movie had potential. The twist of the prince becoming a mermaid is nice change and the voice acting is actually pretty decent. The only problem with the film is the writing and the animation. If someone got the idea to remake this move with a better budget and good writers, it could be really good. Edit: Thanks for making this my most liked comment lol
Yes, she almost doesn't have a voice, like my dog, called Bobby. Bobby died from kidney problems he was maybe 9 years old and every time he barked he was struggling to be loud.
I love the fact that due to the weird animation everyone's constantly smiling somewhat sinisterly, so whenever a character moves closer to the camera it looks like they're threatening someone
Love how bootleg Moana just looks pissed off 100% of the time. If you were to watch the whole movie without any sound you'd think every single character in the movie killed her whole bloodline and that she's seeking for revenge.
The animation is like in some kind of limbo of it being horrendous, yet with some things looking unreasonably good for what it is. Like, some of the lip syncing and part of the expressions are just so fluid, but only in small parts. And while exaggerated, the body language isn’t too bad either.
It's like the creator got complaints that their facial animation was too muted and flat, so they made it more realistic but also cranked it up too high. So it's unnatural again but in a new, horrible way.
I think I know the reason Sereia has tattoos and various inconsistencies in fashion, and it's hilarious. Apparently, to prevent theft, some creators of human vrchat models often put tattoos on the base skin as an identifier. Often, they're overtly elaborate sleeve and chest tattoos. If one were good at texturing, it'd be fairly easy to replace. in fact, I'm almost too sure that much of this movie's assets are very likely purchased assets from various 3D stores, just animated in-house. While ordinarily this wouldn't be a huge problem, they aren't animated very well, which makes it all very obvious they aren't using their own assets.
i was thinking these models looked like VR models and, if it's true motion capture was involved, they probably ARE VR models, but Asylum doesnt know how to work w/ VR and thats why the motions and mouth capture looked so bizarre and uncanny throughout a majority of the movie
The face are so uncanny... Maybe because the eyes aren't moving. The eyebrow moves, the mouth open and close, but the eyes stood still. No widening eyes out of shock and anger? No pupil dilated?
Anyone who has read the original Little Mermaid story will not be surprised by the hair plot twist. SPOILER FOR THE ORIGINAL H. C. ANDERSON STORY: In the original story, the little mermaid sacrifices her tongue (yes, tongue), to the seawitch to gain legs. However each step she takes will feel like being cut by a 100 or 1000 knives (depends on the version). On the third day, if she fails to kiss the prince, she will turn to foam on the waves of the sea. Her sisters gives up their hair to the seawitch to save their sister, an the seawhitch gives them a shell-knife that the little mermaid must use to kill the prince an she will turn back into a mermaid (and once again, depending on the version, regain or not regain her voice) and not turn into foam. The seawitch is not an antagonist, she is just a trader/dealer in the original story. Also the reason for why bodyparts are so important to mermaids: They don't have souls. Mermaids live forever, but have no soul to enter the afterlife (atleast in the versions I've read) So a tongue or hair is not something small. For all the mermaids truly have is their bodies. Also the sisters became fully bald. Like, no hair. And I think they could not grow anymore hair either. Also they, all of the sisters, had the most beautiful hair of all mermaids, and it was a big part of their self-identity.
You're description is very accurate and well done. The only thing that's different is that mermaids live a lifespan of ~300 years, not forever. They turn to seafoam when they experience death, but that's all these is they never go to heaven since they don't have immortal soul.
Pretty much, but none of the versions I have read really have a three day time limit, that only seems to be the Disney version. The only thing I head was that is the prince gets married to someone else she will turn into sea foam on the morning after the wedding. So she could be human for years and all she needed was to have the Prince fall in love with her and marry her.
I'm sorry, but throughout these clips from the movie, I felt so triggered by the fact that the mermaids didn't look like they were underwater- I can understand if animating things underwater is hard, but even SpongeBob was able to pull this off. There are MANY flaws when it comes to this one movie, but the water thing I cannot ignore. The mermaids and sea creatures look like they're just floating midair BAHA Edit: Alright, maybe spongebob isn't a great comparison since it's a 2D show with a higher budget, BAHA, I apologize- But still, I just really hate it how they look like they're just- Flying mermaids- At least add some bubbles or somethin 💔 AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LIKES AND COOL "BRINE POOL" FACTS?? (Never gonna see the Goo Lagoon the same again-) I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
@PikaLink91 True, the logic around walking around underwater is strange in SpongeBob, but at least they acknowledge the fact that they are underwater with random bubbles here and there- Unlike this horrid movie I am still confused how Spongebob and Patrick are able to start fires (OR HOW GOO LAGOON EVEN EXISTS, I TOTALLY FORGOT)- but we don't talk about that, aha ✨️
I actually really like the designs of Jerma Skywalker and the Dad. The voice acting is also decent for some of the characters. Those are my only compliments.
I like the white queen’s design too, her expressions are more subtle. It’s almost ethereal even with the poofy buns and the unicorn horn crown is pretty. Even her name, Queen Opal I love it! Idk its clearly random but it kinda works, I might want to use this design for reference
I was in an "insane asylum" (psychiatric hospital) and actually, they had TV there that used PlutoTV, a free TV app supported by ads, and PlutoTV has a channel with only The Asylum movies. I remember watching a zombie Asylum movie there. It was so poorly shot I thought maybe it was a gameshow. This terminology is, like, 50 years out of date, and from the time they were electrocuting and lobotomizing patients so is considered Very disrespectful.
Poor Saber sounds so defeated in this video. Interestingly enough, it also includes some of his best quips. “Nothing is sacred and life is meaningless,” as well as, “I am simultaneously impressed and disgusted.” 😂
The dialog feels like AI, especially when he showed a sample of the bad guy's voice acting and she repeated three times in a row that she couldn't be defeated lol
I actually like that the guy becomes a merman rather than the girl becoming a human. It’s a good twist on the original trope. I’d really like a higher quality movie with that sort of ending

I have to give them props for trying to incorporate the original Hans Christian Andersen story instead of remaking the Disney version. I always enjoyed the fact that in the original the princes fiance really does save him from the beach and is a nice person as opposed to Ursula transforming herself to a woman and mind controlling Eric. I even enjoy that they tried to incorporate the scene where the sisters go to the sea witch for help and give their hair as payment. That said it doesn't seem like they were incorporated well or in a well written movie which makes me sad because it h0ad potential

They always have the curiosity factor going for them. I remember me and a few friends back in high school would rent their odd offerings most weekends. They can be a lot of fun to watch and mock.
I do too, because while I remember watching and loving a ton of crappy mockbusters as a kid, that was in the VHS/DVD era. I don't get why anyone would buy this when they can just sit their kid in front of youtube or netflix.
The budget for this film was 99% to pay the voice actors. I'm sure they don't need to get a lot of sales to break even. The animator should have more self respect than to work for this shady company, but he seems happy in his little niche.
I guess I'm in the minority of thinking that with actual time and decent money, this could look and sound SO much better. I like how they look, I like their designs. I think with a more professional approach to it all, things would actually look better; less rubberbanding, less ridiculous facial movement, smoother animation, etc etc. I really think it has a chance with investments or a proper studio.
my thing is I know the budget of these things. Under 150K. Most gets paid to actors and since Mike does it all on his own he gets a big chunk. He was advertising making movies for 75-150K in a few months. Imagine if this dude even had a budget of 5 million and someone else wrote the script.
This movie, if it was made by AI, is honestly a perfect example as to why using actual artists is more beneficial for a project than using a computer to save money. Problem with AI is that there no passion or heart. A computer has no love for what it’s making. It just creates. And I can promise you that when you’re making an animated movie, tv show, or whatever, it will show. No one will watch a show if it’s just robotic and soulless.
AI just primitive rn, soon it will be able to replace humans and allow us consumers ultimate freedom is create anything we want! Give it... Errr two decades minimum, optimistically a one decade should be enough but on the chance I'm wrong, two decades minimum unless our earth dies
I know that you may think that AI will be able to replace humans soon enough, but I can tell you that’s a road you don’t want to go down. Trust me. You will never ever get anything like your favorite shows ever again. Breaking Bad? Nope. Avatar: The Last Airbender? Nah. Friends? No way. I find it ironic that the prince's fiance is dressed like a modern girl and yet the setting is pretty clearly a time where he is expected to marry a princess by arrangement. Like, it feels like such a clash of ideals and time periods. lol
9:33 Although her animation is.. messy (coming from an animator, I understand how hard face rigging is) her character design is actually pretty good. The colors go well together and her eyes match her hair.
There is magic in the original story. Surprisingly, there are similarities with the original story. Mainly, that she goes to the surface on her birthday and that she gets in trouble for going alone, as well as swimming away when a girl shows up. Basically when she walked, it was like walking on glass. She had to kill the prince before sunset if she wanted to become a mermaid again, or she would turn into sea foam. Seeing how in love the prince was with his bride, she couldn't bring herself to kill him, and let herself turn to foam. However, she became a daughter of the wind, and as mermaids have no souls, she would have to work for 300 years to bring happiness to humanity, and would in exchange gain a soul and ascend to heaven. When children are good and make their parents proud, the daughters of the wind laugh, and they lose a day of labour they have to do. But if children are bad, they cry, and each tear adds a year to their work. And that, friends, is the condensed original story of the little mermaid. No talking fish, no evil witch, and The little mermaid didn't actually even have a name.
One extra facet I remember from the original: Our heroine is told that humans are repulsed by the look of mermaids (something I never thought made much sense, but there is a strong Christian overtone to this tale). So what Sareia's turtle companion tells her about not letting people see her makes... some sense. LOL. Christian.
The daughter of the wind bit is from an updated version. Originally she just turned into seafoam and became deader than dead. Apparently the moral was harshly enforced!
When you really, and I mean REALLY, pay attention to the animation - you actually feel like you're in a fever dream and you cant wake up. Its so scary, but so mesmerising.
It's kinda upsetting cause most *not all* of the models are actually not that horrible, same with *some* of the voice acting, but as we see the movements on the models are just...cursed
Dee Wallace isn't just the mom in E.T.- she's actually a pretty prominent figure in the horror community, starring in movies like Critters, Cujo, The Hills Have Eyes, etc. Seeing her in this is... wild. She ate though
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the other girl looked like Marinette. The hair, the red dress, and she's a fashion designer? Yeah, she's definitely based on Marinette. It's not even a Disney show, it just airs on Disney Channel in some countries.
Maybe I missed something, but did Darla (Marinette) die? Otherwise, I don't think she would appreciate not-Eric calling off their wedding to be a merman with Saline. I'd give this movie props for bring up that conflict from the original story. But that would mean complimenting this movie.
@@hikawagetsbitches It's definately not the same model. I was talking about her design elements and character traits making her resemble Marinette. The fact that she has blue hair, wears a red dress, and is a fashion designer

Huh... So if I heard correctly, Sereia said her sisters went to the surface when they were 15. That's... actually true in the book. Little Mermaid only knew of the human world from stories from her grandmother and sisters when they went up at 15. Disneys versions didn't have this so....1 point to Asylum I guess 😆. Maybe the AI was programmed to actually read the book
IIRC there is a prequel short story of Ariel's 15th birthday where she sees the surface for the first time as well; I think she meets Scuttle in it but it's been a long time since I've even thought of it
"I don't like sand. It's rough, and coarse, and irritating, and it gets everywhere. That's why I love you, Sereia. You live in the water, not on the sand. I want to be part of _your_ world." -This movie's Prince Anakin, probably
9:28 All these comparisons to characters from other movies and you didn't even notice she's a dead ringer for Mother Gothel? A weird mix of her aged and de-aged and forms.
Not only does she get an Elsa dress, but I noticed that the dress she wears when she becomes human looks like the dress from Aquamarine that the title character does that wrap around thing with the sleeves.
I think the animation is actually fantastic for a single person. Like, that's actually insane. I am very impressed with that. If the writers put in a fraction as much work and skill as the animator did it would've been a great movie tbh
@@EggieAnimates We use AI in a lot of our products (Photoshop uses it, for example) because, at the end of the day, it’s still a tool. What we really need is human involvement/guidance, not just letting it do what it wants without consequences.
You know what? This kind of animation with some of these models would look AMAZING as a medium for a horror movie. Parts of it kinda remind me of stop motion, and a whole lot of stop motion properties can make something look extremely unsettling. For example, the short "Opal" from Adult Swim.
18:42 I’ve been imagining this "prince turning into a merman to be with the little mermaid" scenario for years and the fact that that vision got realized in a low budget knock-off movie is…kind of conflicting?? Lmaoooo 😂

Beautiful, if a little unpleasant. Imagine if every step you take feeling like you're walking barefoot on shattered glass. Of course, there are a few good direct-to-video takes on the original story if you know where to look.
-In the original fairytale, the sisters DO give up their hair, so at least the Asylum is sticking to the original story (except the part where the mermaid basically dies at the end) -There is text-to-3d render software, probably did here. However it steals from other 3d models done by artists who probably took hours to make and painstakingly go through the editing process (I'm not a 3d artist so correct me if I'm wrong) -The designs are ok, it's just the animation. Motion capture is good when done correctly (like in the Polar Express), but this is not the case here. -The fish in the AI art poster isn't even in the film (or is, for like, 5 minutes) -Why credit Hans Christian Andersen as a writer!? The Little Mermaid is in the public domain, you don't have to credit anyone, not even Frozen (based on the Snow Queen) or Disney's The Little Mermaid credited Andersen. I do not like Hans Christen Andersen slander. -Not-Ursula's design looks like an edgy Deviantart oc by a fifth grader -Michael animated this whole movie by himself, which can be good if you have the right experience and understanding of animation. There are unbelievably amazing animations out there created by just one person (Kevin Temmer, Patrick Smith, even Scott Cawthon, just to name a few) but that is usually done by independent creators. Michael was working for The Asylum, who are a non-independent animation studio (I think? I could be wrong). Michael could have been rushed by deadlines when making this film (and possibly Homeward). Remember, this was supposed to come out to deter people from the live action Little Mermaid remake.
This actually looks like a good one to riff with friends after a few drinks. And I think the tinny sounding voices were because the actors recorded it via a telephone line (see also: Eric Robert's voice acting in A Talking Cat?!)
You know what... Based on what I've seen in your review, this version of The Little Mermaid is fine. It's not great, but it's not bad, especially considering the size of the team and budget. The first 3/4 of the story seem pretty faithful to the original book, and the plot twist at the end is interesting, if not very well executed. The models, animation, and environments are obviously nowhere near Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks quality, but they're not terrible.
I saw a animated film this year with AI voices. There was only a single “voice actor” in it who was the one person that made the movie. The rest was AI voices of voice actors.
I mean, just compare it to the "Joshua" movie, which was also basically a one-man project.
i doubt that's all his work. most of it is likely animated by ai using cascadeur or taking mo cap animations from mixamo.

4:52 “You can throw me in a dungeon if you want, But it won’t change the out come of the spell!”

Yeah, looks like the children from Hans's time had nightmares from their own tales.
actually interesting that you cant get anything for free in the original.

Anyone who has read the original Little Mermaid story will not be surprised by the hair plot twist.
SPOILER FOR THE ORIGINAL H. C. ANDERSON STORY:
In the original story, the little mermaid sacrifices her tongue (yes, tongue), to the seawitch to gain legs.
Mermaids live forever, but have no soul to enter the afterlife (atleast in the versions I've read)
So a tongue or hair is not something small.
Great and tragic love story, deaaar!! 😿
Damn imagine giving up all your hair for your sister to turn back into a mermaid, only to watch her turn into sea foams instead.

9:33
Although her animation is.. messy (coming from an animator, I understand how hard face rigging is) her character design is actually pretty good.
There was a sea witch, but she wasn’t evil.

It's kinda upsetting cause most *not all* of the models are actually not that horrible, same with *some* of the voice acting, but as we see the movements on the models are just...cursed
19:29 love how her eyeballs aren't animated to follow her head.
Wth
AI ass movie fr
Why did she have a robin mask for a second?
16:06
“She’s BALD! She’s bald and she’s torturing people with hair!”
An Evil version of Bayonetta, obviously.
5:39 why was the turtle manning while she thrusted😂😂
Dee Wallace isn't just the mom in E.T.- she's actually a pretty prominent figure in the horror community, starring in movies like Critters, Cujo, The Hills Have Eyes, etc. Seeing her in this is... wild. She ate though
Is it bad that I only know her as the mom from E.T 😂?
The fact Saber says "tailcoats" instead of "coattails" is something I can never get over.
My farts are better than Saberspark’s farts 💨
Many of these underwater scenes look like they're not actually in any water, but levitating in the air.
7:05 as a human I cannot see turtles
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the other girl looked like Marinette. The hair, the red dress, and she's a fashion designer? Yeah, she's definitely based on Marinette. It's not even a Disney show, it just airs on Disney Channel in some countries.
I swear that crown is a reality hopping miraculous.
Maybe I missed something, but did Darla (Marinette) die? Otherwise, I don't think she would appreciate not-Eric calling off their wedding to be a merman with Saline.
I'd give this movie props for bring up that conflict from the original story. But that would mean complimenting this movie.
apparently some of the models aren’t made in-house so it could be a model of marinette
@@hikawagetsbitches It's definately not the same model. I was talking about her design elements and character traits making her resemble Marinette. The fact that she has blue hair, wears a red dress, and is a fashion designer
17:45 I knew that looked extremely funny for a reason. That is straight up a mixamo stock animation without any tweaks done to it. They just attached a sword to her hand LMAO
15:52
"Oh My Gosh! She's bald..She's bald! And she's torturing people who have hair!!"
I had to..
13:35 Off brand Miraculous ladybug had me laughing! The fact she's a fashion designer like in the actual show is hilarious!
well, asylum is anything but subtle when it comes to ripoffs
That mouth movement man, I can’t ever get enough of it.
I always love when an actor knows they're in trash and just decide to go all out ham
"She's bald and shes torturing people with hair!"
IIRC there is a prequel short story of Ariel's 15th birthday where she sees the surface for the first time as well; I think she meets Scuttle in it but it's been a long time since I've even thought of it
my farts are better than Saberspark’s farts 💨
"I don't like sand. It's rough, and coarse, and irritating, and it gets everywhere. That's why I love you, Sereia. You live in the water, not on the sand. I want to be part of _your_ world."
-This movie's Prince Anakin, probably
Beautiful, thank you
This was good
Don’t tell him that the ocean floor consists of sand. 😂
9:28 All these comparisons to characters from other movies and you didn't even notice she's a dead ringer for Mother Gothel? A weird mix of her aged and de-aged and forms.
The glowing tattoos look more like the ones you see on the sirens from borderlands if you're playing on switch
I like how you poke fun at movies, by not calling a character by his or her name but calling them after a similar looking character.
Not only does she get an Elsa dress, but I noticed that the dress she wears when she becomes human looks like the dress from Aquamarine that the title character does that wrap around thing with the sleeves.
18:02 "What an incredible coincidence!" needs to be a meme
LMAO
11:50 Their arms clipped through each other😭😭
I think the animation is actually fantastic for a single person. Like, that's actually insane. I am very impressed with that. If the writers put in a fraction as much work and skill as the animator did it would've been a great movie tbh
I agree!
Oh it's very probably motion capture- so less animating and more cleaning up
If AI really did make this movie, it shows why making AI generated movies is a bad idea.
Given their previous animated content, it seems to be human-made, unfortunately.
AI-made a lot of things are a bad idea
@@EggieAnimates We use AI in a lot of our products (Photoshop uses it, for example) because, at the end of the day, it’s still a tool. What we really need is human involvement/guidance, not just letting it do what it wants without consequences.
You know what? This kind of animation with some of these models would look AMAZING as a medium for a horror movie. Parts of it kinda remind me of stop motion, and a whole lot of stop motion properties can make something look extremely unsettling. For example, the short "Opal" from Adult Swim.
follow me, i'm on the brink of visual epiphany!
Jack staubers entire video career is a good representative if ehat it could look like given the right layers and designs
exploring new nooks and crannies in the uncanny valley with this one
18:42 I’ve been imagining this "prince turning into a merman to be with the little mermaid" scenario for years and the fact that that vision got realized in a low budget knock-off movie is…kind of conflicting?? Lmaoooo 😂
In a 1999 episode of “Hercules: The Legendary Journey” titled “My Best Girl's Wedding”, Iolaus becomes a merman, and he and the mermaid Nautica happily swim together.
Then again, it’s possible that episode was meant to be a shoutout to “Splash”: ua-cam.com/video/sMFNp4Q5SRU/v-deo.htmlm59s .
And then a live action Mockbusters I apologizes
@@starvoltnexus3139 What? “Splash” is not a live action mockbuster since it came out in 1984, 5 years before Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”.
i'd love to see a studio make a movie based more on the original little mermaid, cause its such a beautiful story.
Beautiful, if a little unpleasant. Imagine if every step you take feeling like you're walking barefoot on shattered glass.
Of course, there are a few good direct-to-video takes on the original story if you know where to look.
Toei Animation did that in the 70's
Toei Little Mermaid 1975 film is what your looking for.
-In the original fairytale, the sisters DO give up their hair, so at least the Asylum is sticking to the original story (except the part where the mermaid basically dies at the end)
-There is text-to-3d render software, probably did here. However it steals from other 3d models done by artists who probably took hours to make and painstakingly go through the editing process (I'm not a 3d artist so correct me if I'm wrong)
-The designs are ok, it's just the animation. Motion capture is good when done correctly (like in the Polar Express), but this is not the case here.
-The fish in the AI art poster isn't even in the film (or is, for like, 5 minutes)
-Why credit Hans Christian Andersen as a writer!? The Little Mermaid is in the public domain, you don't have to credit anyone, not even Frozen (based on the Snow Queen) or Disney's The Little Mermaid credited Andersen. I do not like Hans Christen Andersen slander.
-Not-Ursula's design looks like an edgy Deviantart oc by a fifth grader
-Michael animated this whole movie by himself, which can be good if you have the right experience and understanding of animation.
I'm pretty sure IMDb credits Hans Christian Andersen because it's an adaptation
Start of the video: Your Baldur's Gate 3 character when you finally decide to make a weapon strike after 15 minutes of struggling to decide
Yeah, this is pretty much my exact reaction too lol
My farts are better than Saberspark’s farts 💨
Tbh the story in theory could've been good if the execution wasn't terrible. Like I don't just mean visuals, but the writing seems pretty abysmal.
the models look similar to, if not the same as, the ones used in some r18 animations lol
I saw a animated film this year with AI voices. There was only a single “voice actor” in it who was the one person that made the movie. The rest was AI voices of voice actors.
The movie was The LazyTown Movie. It was a purchasable film on Amazon Prime that got taken off after three weeks. It’s free on UA-cam now, if that didn’t get taken down either.
I think that's GoAnimate so yeah doesn't surprise me. Lots of GoAnimate UA-camrs and such use like TTS VAs. If it's not GoAnimate than whaaaat
@@Justin-ul7fh It was GoAnimate from what some people commented off my review of the “movie”. I wonder if he got in trouble with crediting “Universal Studios” as making it and claiming actors in it that are AI voices, because it got taken down from Amazon Prime.
Kinda reminds me of the Greeny Phatom movie.
Tbh I love a lot of these designs and can see them working with some more work put into them
