So This Could Have Been Better...(Season 3 Episode 1 Review) (Plus guess who's back!)

- So this season showed some promise but then went off the rails and went back to being Netflix's She-ra again. It's still arguably better than the last two seasons though so there's some improvement. Wish the characters would actually grow instead of it just looking like they will for a minute and then go back to not trusting their parents/authority figures and going behind their backs only to get in trouble and ruin everything and never learn. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's just take a look at the first episode of "season 3."
Sakura Art's Channel:
/ @multifandomfangirl9664
Shadow Weaver telling Angela she sounds like Glimmer when she screams could have been dramatic if she had been yelling at Shadow Weaver about the harm the Horde has caused and demanding information.
Then it would be a chilling reminder of how Shadow Weaver is familiar with how Glimmer screams because of torturing her to make her scream, and that would make Shadow Weaver seem more like a twisted psycho who likes to play mind games because she is cheerfully recalling torturing a girl and gloating about it even when she's a powerless prisoner.
Oh god, that would be so perfect!
M gets well and comes back just in time to get tortured again by She-Ra. That luck, lol.
She has the worst luck, lol.
To be fair, It is not like the rest of the things they Review are Shakespeare either. :-P
It's pretty frustrating how Glimmer gets opportunity after opportunity to communicate with her mother and grow as a character, but she never does... I don't think that's how character development is supposed to work XD at least Kyle was safe for a few episodes! also, welcome back, M! :)
Seeing the bond between your guys' channels is genuinely heartwarming. It's like you're united in disappointment.
Ive been waiting and waiting for these two channels to post up reviews because i refuse to give this show views on netflix because of their poor mishandling of characters and messages. In article after article, Noelle and friends go on and on about how this series is a fresh and more thoughtful and human take on the chsracters and meant to teach younger audiences important life values and stuff. But the only constant message is adults are idiots and untrustworthy and not worthy of respect. And if there's someone in your group that is mostly unlike everyone else, then its okay to pick on him (Kyle, Bow and Sea Hawk).
It's because the writers are projecting their own problems with their families onto the work. That's why the kids are always undermining the adult authority with no punishment and always being framed as right for doing so. Because this is what these creatively bankrupt hacks do and it's prevalent in all of these modern cartoons- Stevenson's more or less said she's writing herself through these characters and her personal artbook affirms she has a toxic relationship with her family. Unfortunately she also wants to claim this show has a strong moral about family and friendship behind it, but we are only ever seeing these people be backstabbing assholes to each other while insisting they're not doing anything bad; it's like an immature child telling the story rather than an adult.
To put it bluntly, someone in the writing staff has some severe, freudian mommy issues and it shows like a skyscraper in the desert.
@Miclaila Yeah, and when it seems like they're making progress and talking things out it gets ignored the next episode. Why would they trust Shadow Weaver over Glimmer's mom? It's so ridiculous!
Adora: I’m sure there are others who’d want to leave the Horde. If only I knew who.
Kyle:.....AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!?
Who in the Horde isn't?
Watch as Kyle ends up being the one most faithful to the horde out of all the characters.
I swear Kyle has to become an avatar of Horde Prime or there is no justice in this universe.
This is Kyle's origin story.
@Neil Brown ah hell no! Although he would probably be more heroic than all these fools put together.
Am I the only one who thinks that hordak could have said "Excuse me Catra, but who did I put in charge to deal with these Teenagers? Ah yes, Shadow and You. I was thinking of simply sending you on a mission, but I'm starting to think that your original punishment would be more fitting now"
Not to mention, Hordak himself is leading an army of mostly teenagers, save for Shadow Weaver (and maybe Scorpia).
@@anneoneal3865 We don't know much about how the army works or how hordak controls it. He probably spends most of his time in his chamber trying to keep himself alive and build a portal home, leaving the other stuff on his second in command and only taking the wheel when he needs to.
((By the way, do we know how stuff is going with the Princess Alliance and the Horder? It's not very clear on who is winning))
Should've gone all Lord Zedd on her: "SILENCE! You were in charge and couldn't take care of mere teenagers" and then they pussified him because parents are jerks.
@@ThatCatWithoutAHat the first alliance lost to the horder, that is why glimmer's father is "dead"....., i still dont know neither how hordak dont control any ohter kindom, despite that he won the "previous war" nor how they are the resistance when hordak is still trying to conquer the world.....
It's just so dumb how they blindly trust Shadow Weaver, when they constantly go behind the queen and do what they want, even after she gave her ego-driven daughter command. It's like watching a spoiled brat contently break the rules, but still be rewarded, because the mother doesn't want to deal with the inevitable tantrum if she doesn't.
I heard a rumor that someone was brought on, wish I could remember his name, just to fix a lot of it of the script, especially since they only got one season order. So all the talk about Diversity in the staff doesn't mean much since this guy had to essentially clean the room after they made a mess in it. You can tell where he wrote the scenes, since it's coherent then, but that work is still undercut by the others just writing dumb comedy. Like a big scene in hamlet, but then he slips on a banana peel and hit with a pie. You can't really take it seriously.
There's nothing wrong with age-gap relationships
IF THEY'RE BOTH FULLY GROWN ADULTS!
When I think age-gap relationship, I think 20 and 26, or 28 and 39. These relationships definitely not the same thing
It would help if they actually confirmed these characters 'ages up front, instead of a character designer vaguely posting Entrapta's new assigned age somewhere on Twitter. The show runners were pretty upfront and loud when the show came out that this show was starring teenagers.
18+ and infinite xD
wtf it's the same thing. If somone was 15 and the other was 20, they'd be 5 years older so that would be the same thing as 20 and 26 you idiot.
@@gracefowles8433 no- becus 15 yr olds are minors and not an adult
@@koebichan3317 what i forgot all about this
So along with zero fixes one of the messages of this episode is don’t trust your guardians, but a villain you can totally believe. And Adora is afraid she might lose control of her powers? I mean, she hardly had much control over her powers, but not in a negative way. Where exactly did this fear come from?
Welcome back M ❤️
@Ariel Smith talking about Entrapta i hope she gets a commeuppance for all she did.
The fear came from what she thought happened with Mara.
Happy to see M back, and the Tanner Twins ride again! :-)
Something that really bugs me is how this show seems to refuse to show women caring about/loving the men in their lives- Queen Angella and Castaspella should be besides themselves with anger towards Shadow Weaver betrayal of Brightmoon and the more personal betrayal of Micah. Angella was his wife, Casta is his sister, why aren't they threatening to make her suffer for what she did to him? To them?
Honestly, as an avid hater of this series, I have to say that I was pretty surprised by how... eager I was when watching the final episode of the season. It somehow drew me in and sure at parts it had me snoozing but I overall thought that final episode was... pretty cool. I almost crapped my pants when (spoiler) I heard Horde Prime talk because at first I thought it was supposed to be Skeletor and I was afraid they did a surprise Skeletor swoop. Phew, just horde prime. Wouldn’t want He Man and Skeletor to get ruined... jeez.
I don't remember you being in Dracula's Castle.
Glad to see M's better. Also, the whole show is wasted potential. They need better writers. And to tone down the humor. And to send Swiftwind to the glue factory.
For have his mouth shut
They can keep the humor, they just need better reference of when to put it in and when to not
Given that this is essentially Season 1 split into three parts, I'd be surprised if the NEXT season didn't see an uptick in quality.
And knowing Noelle, she will waste all of those opportunities.
At this point it feels like the creators of she ra got told a very vague concept of avatar the last airbender lmao
it's VERY poor attempt at Avatar. Catra is supposed to be a blend of Zuko and Azula.
@@jeangentry6656 Catra has no honor to be Zuko and is not strong enough to be Azula, all in all, a poor attempt.
IK
Thank god you two pointed out the age thing between Scorpia and Catra. Seriously she's drawn like an adult and not a teen. Not even a late teen. Scorpia has to be early twenties.
This ep was a real drag. It's almost like RWBY. The plot starts when it wants to.
Also welcome back M.
Twenties? I thing she is almost on thirties!
Age-gap in relationships? Oh booooy...tumblr is a mess now thanks to that. It truly is the new Voltron Legendary Defender...
Tumblr was always a mess, really.
We're one step away from a territory that starts with a "p".
Y'all know what I'm talking about. I don't want to say the whole thing because I believe UA-cam may be checking comments and striking them.
aren't they made by the same company?
@@jamesporter571 Yup. DreamWorks.
I'm pretty sure these are the same people who claimed that Sheith was petalphillia(I don't want YT to remove my comment an the original word is constantly misused!) because Klance NEEDED to be The -Fetish- Ship
Welcome back M! And good job holding down the fort J!
Man I love when character make dumb choices because why not
Oh there's a reason, it's called " being stupid for the sake of the plot" and for this show case shipping
@Neil Brown
Not like many of them actualy watch the show on Netflix, lol.
Anyone notice how in Season 2 Bow was adamantly against taking a hostage for any reason because they're "the good guys." but now with them catching Shadow Weaver he doesn't seem to have any problem with it?
Ep 1: Stuff actually happens??? Finally!
Ep 2: I DID NOT SIGN-UP FOR THIS SHIP, KILL IT WITH FIRE
Ep 3: Well Catra is having waaaay too much fun
Ep 4: I didn't think Glimmer could get any more stupid than she already was
Ep 5: ... what?
Ep 6: WAAAAAAATTTT
Season three is the best so far, but I still stand by my judgement that this would have gone better as a 'children of' the original or just a unique series in itself. At this point the power crystals and magical elements have diverged so much that it stands on its own.
I do hate that the messaging of the original is so overshadowed by this modern concept that anything sexy must be anti-feminist...
The original She-Ra was incredibly independent, intelligent, and heartfelt throughout her characterization. To the point sometimes she did things as just Adora because she understood the impact of seeing a normal person stand against tyranny... But they lost that option when they made being 'She-Ra' the only way to integrate Adora to the side of good...
This show is not a reboot, it's a new concept with some copied names that really should've been allowed to be its own thing so that it could stop being judged by and dragging down the work put into the original...
Both shows deserve better...
TLDR: OG She-Ra was awesome, and the new She-Ra has the world building to be its own property...
New She-Ra should've been it's own thing, possibly with some omage that could have also pulled from other 'girly' shows to make it overall better.
Out of all the things that Hordak could have brought back from the portal, he brought a baby? Was he using her as a hostage so he can go back to the portal? What was the point of taking the baby if you were just going to discard her and call her useless? BTW welcome back M I'm glad you're feeling better.
I guess to make the child grow up to be a soldier.
They never explain... so did baby Adora just slide through the portal on her own like frosting out of the tube, or did Hordak go through the portal and just take her. I mean, neither really make sense since they claim it was only briefly open, but still.
Im really late but Hordak did not bring Adora through the portal. It was light hope as she needed a new shera after mara was "comprised"
I have not seen Netflix's She-ra and The Princesses of Power, but your videos entertain me.
It is also nice to have M back.
Thank you for this video.☺
Glad to hear you're feeling better, M. J did a pretty good job while you were away.
Oh man, this episodes. This episode drove me up the wall when I first saw it. It seems the writers believe that good guys shouldn't take prisoners, even in a war, based on what Bow said when he and Glimmer captured Catra last season. Naturally, if they don't take prisoners, what happens if a Horde trooper surrenders? Do they kill them? Do they just let them join? Do they let them go? I have no idea.
I was stunned when I saw that Angella and Castaspella were distracted by Bow's little card trick thing for so long. The writers really seem to want to make Angella look bad based on this season and what happens, to the point where she falls for a distraction that should have only worked for all of five seconds.
When Entrapta said how the Horde had improved by 400% since Catra became force captain, my jaw dropped due to how this seemed like the most inconsistent bit of writing the show had offered since Frosta's personality shift in the season 2 premier. There were too many jokes about Catra being bad at her job to make that believable, including her showing her not being able to take care of a work order form.
When Hordak brought Catra forth for her dressing down, I think he called in every Horde trooper on the planet since we saw about sixteen people, more than we've seen in any previous episode. There were more troops there than the battle to take Castle Bright Moon.
As for the age issues, you brought up, it reminded me of something that I've seen about the show and come up with a theory. I get the theory the writers and showrunners didn't really create a series bible, leaving loots of room for the other members of the staff to have headcanons. According to the character designer, Entrapta's between 25 and 30 years old. Since no one else on the show has commented on this to my knowledge, this means either they're fine with this, or they don't care. There's a similar headcanon by the storyboard artists about Kyle being in a relationship with Rogelio without telling the writers. This could lead to all sorts of story issues and unfortunate implications.
For example, one may wonder what the show thinks about LGBT male characters based on how Kyle's treated as a butt monkey, Rogelio not being able to talk and the fact Bow's dads live in a pink jeweled house.
wait.... entrapta's 25? she acts like an excitable high school freshman. i always thought she was older than frosta and younger than adora based on her behavior. how is she 25?
@@Dragonkid1801 I don't really believe it either, but the People who ship Entrapta and Hordak are obviously very okay with that.
If I had to rank the Characters from youngest to the oldest, it would probably be like this:
Frosta, Glimmer, Bow, Kyle, Adora, Lonnie, Catra, Rogelio, Entrapta, Perfuma, Scorpia, Seahawk, Mermista, Casta, Bow's Dads, Shadow Weaver, Queen Angella, Hordak.
@@Dragonkid1801 No idea, but that's what the character designer said and no one else on the show has disputed it.

Welcome back M! Thanks for reviewing this. Crimson Sin already did the shorts and hopes. If you want, you can do a quick run down of what you had hoped and compare it to what actually happened. I would love to hear what your take would have been. Yeah, the tone was all over the place. They need to pick something and stick with it. Oh and the age question is quite a hornets nest. People love their ships and age or perceived age be darned.
Please NEVER think that you are at fault because you got sick, M. You don't have to apologize for something that you had no control over.
We are just glad that you are back. ☺😊❤
"Breaking into Shadow Weavers spare Bedroom"-thats probably one of my favorite Parts of the Video. 😊😂
Also, you Guys were right. The First Ones WERE Eternians!
Well the only two answers to that question is M or She-Ra, and I'm not gonna cheer for the return of the latter. Welcome back M! I'd say it's like you never left, but we missed you too much for that!
Redeeming Shadowweaver that easily is somehow undermining her whole theme with being an abusive parenmt figure. Thats a dangerous message to sent in a kids show. Shadow weaver regrets nothing that would make redemption possible.
Not as bad as Steven Universe "redeeming" bloody space tyrants!

I love how cohesive and clear your reviews are; even if I haven't watched the show (Thank God the writing must be awful if there's this much to criticise) you make it entertaining and I understand it entirely.Might I recommend the dragon prince as a potential review in the future?I'd love to hear your take on its flaws and how ,unlike she-ra, has kept an earnest charm despite them both being about teenaged adventures amongst a war-torn realm.
This is a show that is much easier to watch when broken down because you don't have to sit through tons of pointless fillers and jokes that die on arrival. And that's the problem with this show; the actual plot of this takes the backseat to whatever 'mission' Noelle n Co want to do to pretend that this is some sort of groundbreaking cartoon when in turn it's just like every other BADLY WRITTEN 'I m Smurt' cartoon out now, where they put too much focus on reminding you how;
*NOT WHITE
*NOT MALE
*NOT STRAIGHT
*NOT OLD
Not whatever a character is, rather than the actual driving force of them. This is part of the reason why we don't see a lot of kids, and I mean KIDS, talk about the show vs the amount of near adults or grown ass adults just GUSH on the shipping, NOT the main point of the story which is so bare it's no wonder they try to steer it somewhere else; they really don't have anything to talk about but frankly, the don't care about other elements of stories so this really is a show that is tailor made for those type of people.
This isn't a show for 'diverse veiewers', this is a show made for people who want the shipping pre-cut for them, with what little story there is serving to justify why this shouldn't remain a fan made headcanon blog on Tumblr. I really don't expect anything this far into the show because it has already wasted my time as it is so whatever happens will happen. The most respect the show should pay to its viewers however is to stop demanding the show gets praise for nothing as it has done nothing new.
I pointed out that the characters are inconsistent, and someone told me “that’s how real teens act!”
No, it doesn’t matter if real people act stupid, she’s a character and should be written consistently. 😑
When it comes to Adora there, we have seen her sleep with a dagger and now her sword. So, does Adora have a hidden arsenal under her pillow?
Welcome back M, and good luck with those Swift Wind Shorts, even by clips alone, it hurts the brain.
Always sleeping with a weapon nearby because she's paranoid about enemies somehow ambushing her at night would actually make her seem more like a trained soldier from a brutal empire.
Too bad it doesn't seem to be paranoia and training so much as plot convenience for whatever scene is going on.
@@williamharmon4039 brutal empire? Where at? I don't seem any of them in this show.
@@youknowyoufuckedupright3058
Maybe if Adora was legitimately traumatized by her upbringing and former indoctrination then they would seem more credible as a threat.
@@williamharmon4039 Honestly the way a lot of things in this show is set up makes no sense.
Why I cannot like the video twice?
1) the usual like for the content & quality of the video (and love for the channel).
2) the like for having M back.
WHY I CANNOT LIKE THE VIDEO TWICE?!!
Yeah! Welcome Back M! You were missed.
And as usual with the case with She-Ra, I see hints of greatness but they are overshadowed by the same issues they had in the first two "seasons".
Welcome back M. J held the fort pretty well, while you were getting better. Cheers
How I know is M and not J pretending to be M ?
Just kidding, good to have you back M
A "serious" cartoon can still have some comedy, but they put jokes at the wrong moment if they are trying to make a dark/ tragic thing happen
Glad you’re back, M! J did a good job running things while you were gone. I wish the best for you two, stay healthy!
Welcome back M!!! Glad you are better! Looking at these "seasons", I think they could have just made two normal seasons.
I still feel like this is an example of "you can make the characters whatever age you want" depending on the situation. This contradicts their whole issue with 80s She-Ra. We want EntraptaXHordak... so she's 30. (But why is she designed like the teens?) Um. Nvm! Also We want ScorpiaXCatra so um... okay if Catra is 15, Scorpia is 17 Now! (But, we designed her like a tank in her 30s) Don't worry about that! She's 17 now. Also Sea HawkXMermista! (Mermista looks about 16, and Sea Hawk's mustache indicates 20s) Nah! Um they're both 18! (But they look) What did I say!
So what I've been hearing is that Scorpia is a teenager... but Entrapta is apparently 30... somehow. Idk. That's what the Netflix fans are claiming.
I didn’t even bother watching this season. My sister did and I’m very glad I didn’t 🤦🏼♀️
The real question is why this show isn't about Entrapta: she's been getting shit _done._
Welcome back, M! Always enjoy these She-Ra reviews because I think you two do a proper and fair analysis of it. You say what works and call out what needs to be called out.
Great to have you back, M! Wow, Season 3 of this show is off to a pretty bad start, and the age difference thing makes Scorpia look like a child-predator. Why didn't the people making this show take that into consideration? I get they're trying to have a lot of "representation" in this show, but if Scorpia was a guy of the same age, people would be throwing a fit, and rightly so. This is not something that should be presented as okay! EVER. Telling young girls that it's okay to be in a romantic relationship with an adult as long as the adult is a woman is a very bad thing to say, even if it's by accident. I cannot fathom how this got overlooked by anyone in the production or by Netflix. It makes me a bit suspicious, honestly.
This combined with all the other dumb things in this episode make me wonder what's going on behind the scenes. It's like the people making it only care about shipping characters and "representation." You can't get a good story based on those things alone. There's clearly no plan here. They're just stumbling along without putting much thought into what's ahead and forgetting things they've already set up in previous episodes. If this show is indicative of the quality of original content Netflix is going to have once Disney and other companies pull their stuff, it's going to go down in flames faster than the Hindenburg.
I am pretty sure they DO have a guy doing the same thing as Scorpia through Sea Hawk and Mermista. She's framed as a teen and I at least think they intend for us to perceive him as an adult. But yes, based on their amas and such, they do not have a story bible in place and fly everything by the seat of their pants with no concise vision to build toward. I get the impression that it's the same dysfunctional set up as Steven Universe, where everybody's ideas and personal headcanons get validated regardless of what it does to consistency and continuity.
@@gtf234 Yeah, the more I see of this version of She-Ra, the more I'm convinced that the producers are following the Steven Universe model of making a show... which is pretty much do whatever and shoehorn in much politics as possible. But I'm someone who's trying to become a writer. I put a lot of value in a well-crafted story. Stuff like this irritates me to no end because even as a kid, I hated it when shows treated me like a child and I hated it when shows tried to inject politics into the narrative. I could tell when they were doing it, too, and it annoyed me because it was a big distraction from the only thing that I wanted the show to give me: A good story. I don't want to see shows today following the hackneyed model of Steven Universe. It's lazy! Lazy writing should never be rewarded.
@@patrickleighpresents749 I would agree. Though the importance of a bible can vary depending on the production- it depends on what lines are being drawn and was is deemed important to the world being created. M and J have discussed this before, referring to Butch Hartman's stories about just starting out and his Johnny Bravo disaster and how he did the opposite in his own shows- eschewing a bible, but you still see natural consistency develop in spite of that.
That's not what we see in SU and Netflix She-Ra though, it's not deliberately being loose with design elements for the sake of letting comedy flow as it needs, it's weakness and aimlessness. We have showrunners who are too weak to assert their authority over their staff and define the way x, y, and z need to be regardless of everyone else's feelings, so everybody just does what they want. The productions are practically giant hugboxes because nobody gets told their idea doesn't work as is- rather than demand things be reworked to fit the story and grand scheme (or be redrawn because they're entirely off model), they instead change the world to let it work or ignore the problems entirely. The bomb format for SU is largely just to hide how slow they are at getting anything done because there's supposedly so much infighting about what they are doing and where they're going with the plot but Sugar doesn't put a lid on it. Ex. How many times have the Gems promised to be honest with Steven about everything only for them to be revealed to be lying or concealing facts from him?
It's not just in modern cartoons though, it's become a major problem in western comics too. The same folk have crept into that industry too and we see it in all sorts of Marvel imprints that continue getting made despite not selling and being panned by reader reviews. M and J have covered Captain Marvel enough times to make that plain as day but an issue from this year they haven't looked at that is particularly egregious in this regard was Kelly Thompson's "The Life of Captain Marvel". In that book she revealed Carol to have always been part Kree and thus all her powers were innately hers rather than copied from Mar-Vell. She also claimed the Kree spontaneously develop superpowers from their environments and that they have an enthroned empress to which Carol's mother was a royal guard for. I can't begin to go over how wrong and inconsistent all of that is but I will do so anyway to make my point. The Kree Empire has been a military dictatorship run by the Supreme Intelligence for literally a million years, with only a few usurpers every now and then- only once that I can recall did the empire attempt a monarchy and it was short lived- it's been a military dictatorship otherwise; there cannot be a presently enthroned empress in Carol's time- and presently (since 2009) Black Bolt is the ruler of the Empire. The Kree have been in an evolutionary dead end for millennia- they created the Inhumans as an experiment to try to find a way past this stagnation and all their Kree-born super soldiers are artificially created with heavy genetic engineering and cybernetic augmentation; randomly developing powers and mutations runs completely contrary to this point which has been a backbone of Kree lore since '87. Related, most of Carol's current power set isn't even from her Kree physiology, it's leftover from her Binary powers, which she got from being experimented on by the Brood- so it couldn't have always been her powers waiting for the Psyche-Magnitron to wake them up like Thompson wants it to be. She literally turned the Kree into the Skrull because all these qualities are the Deviant Skrull, not the Kree. My point is this is another example of what we see in SU and She-Ra, the world has to bend over backward to accommodate rather than the writer having to work with constraints.
Patrick Leigh Presents Amen, good sir! 👏👏👏

I'm Glad your back M!
Catra, Entrapta, and Hordak are ironically the most entertaining characters to see talk and have dialogue. Almost like the good guys are horribly one dimensional. If this show was called Catra, than it would be more fitting.
Even die hard fans understand that this show is all about Catra!!
Yep but sadly catra stinks, she realy is horrible, she has so much plot armor, she is selfish spoiled and a psychopath, how could anyone relate to her or even like her?
Great my prime context source is back
We truly would be lost without these two. :)
So happy to have you back!
I.... never thought about the age gapes. Wow.
I've binged this with my younger cousin, I really tried giving it a fair shot but it was painful to watch.
the characters in this show are frustrating making dumb mistake after dumb mistake but are barely punished for it because both sides are just as equally dumb. I'm all for character development which can only be done with character flaws but there's no progress here. they keep turning heavy moments into comedy and if there is character development, which rarely happens, characters would suddenly regress out of the blue. everyone, including the adults, in this show is most often incompetent and/or immature. this horde is no threat if the heroes only have someone in command with an actual working brain.
13:15 wtf is with she-ra's legs? those are even larger than glimmer's.
So:
The writers wasted a perfectly good moment to develop the plot in favor of Shadow Weaver trolling Angela.
Scorpia is probably a m.a.p.
Bow is flatter than a sheet of paper (Seriously, his belt in 6:58)
Also, all the characters look really flat, as if they didn't have any depth at all.
Lots of exposition through the characters talking about how other characters achieved stuff instead of SHOWING those achievements onscreen, such as when Entrapta was referring to Catra's work as second in command of the Horde.
It also looks that they haven't got a proper quality control on the storyboards and animation, since the characters change in their proportions from one scene to the next one.
Welcome back M, nice to meet you 🤗 glad you’re feeling better and looking forward to more content with the both of you

For fuck's sake, what is wrong with Adora in this show? Why was she so desperate to get to Shadoweaver, the monster that tortured, psychologically tortured and manipulated her, and physically tortured her friends? Did Adora forget that the last time she saw Shadoweaver, Glimmer was in a lightning prison and she was going to erase Adora's memories? Shadoweaver has literally done nothing to earn this sudden redemption arc, and Adora has no reason to trust her, but Noel Stevenson apparently knows better, I guess.
Glad that you're back M, we're gonna need you for this season...
Even tough there were choices with the characters that I didn't like, I really liked this season. I was actually invested while watching it and I'm glad that they delivered some worldbuilding -and an actual arc for a season, rather than a dumpster of gags.
This season's conclusion to Catra and Adora's relationship was nice but (spoilers) Angella's death was disappointing, she wasn't acknowledged by his daughter, not even before she died -so Glimmer's development from season 2 was bullshit, but we all called it.
When I finished this season I was already eager to watch your reviews since your points are always great to hear. Heck, I even watch your comic reviews even though I don't read them. Keep up the good work! Also welcome back M! It's nice to see that you're okay now :)
Hordak: "Blast this show's inconsistency."
Yay, glad to hear M is better now! :3
5:20 I can explain this problem. It's DreamWorks writers trying to cater to an 14+ Teen Girl demographic,
hence the same reasons why Tales of Arcadia and especially Race to the Edge have so much
shipping. It these shows really were meant for a YA audience they'd be PG at least.
But to be honest I don't mind this season that much for it actually challenged kids.
Hooray! Welcome back M.
Edit* This show seems to hardly have much action and fight scenes, I can't be the only one who sees this and the skewered family dynamics.
Shadow Weaver also mentions: "you fear your powers getting out of control" and i am thinking to myself "when has she feared her powers would go out of control?"
We never see her train to see what her limits are -outside of combat and weapon shaping, never see her contenplate the powers she has or secrets that the sword might have, or better yet, a moment where she is heistant to use said power outside of a flustered, nervous wreck. It is not like Anng where he let his Avatar powers go berserk and see how extreme the avatar state was in his young age and even considered never using it until he got the proper training for it. Adora, most of the time, shows it to us as a fun gig for her and only gets annoyed when it goes wrong at first then suddenly she mastered it. Inconsistent writing and story telling does not help this show at all. By the way, welcome back M!
From what I remember, Scorpia only said that her kingdom didn't get along with others before the horde came. She probably wasn't born yet.
Great to have you back, M. Glad you're feeling better.
Presumably the series is aimed at young girls. Are the people behind it -- from writers to producers -- so dismissive or contemptuous of the intelligence of their intended audience that they don't consider it worthwhile to do a better job on plot, continuity, character development, or just good storytelling than what they've done with it? I appreciate your critiques. The fantasy sounds disappointingly unimaginative and leaden, the plot holes egregious, but somehow it has survived to a third season. Is there really so little content aimed at young girls that it attracts an audience despite its shortcomings? The original She-Ra had a large percentage of boys watching; I can't imagine many boys enjoying this thing.
Glad to see you back, M. Don't strain yourself, watching this torpid "adventure" show.
Well 26 episodes were already made that's why seasons 2 and 3 have 7 are 6 episodes respectively. The real test is to see if She ra makes it to a 4th season which is debatable since Netflix is cutting corners on shows and I don't think the dolls will sell well
Welcome back M, its great to know youre ok, and to see you girls back together, keep up the awesome work.
Man i am the only one who think is strange Angella and Castaspella relantionship be ok? After all the bad blood in past seasons? I Wish we saw what happened
The part with Bow really ticked me off. In what way in this important scene would that ever work in real life?
Yeah I also don't know how the portal worked.
Welcome back M!
Keep Up The Good Work~!
You think it's creepy age gap with Scorpia x Catre and Seahawk x Mermista just wait for the next episode just you wait. Ha ha ha😃😃😃
But seriusly it's better to imagen that the writers just don't know how to write a father daughter relationship.
Hey , Happy to see you two again on the channel .
YAY, M IS BACK!!
New subscriber here. I'm glad to see that M is OK and to hear she's back. Welcome back M! Glad that you're OK!
Huh? Kinda like Zaheer helping Korra with her issues, except he caused the trauma in the first place and was genuinely remorseful because his stupidity allowed Kuvira to get power.
@Red Coin agreed
Of course the kids go behind the parents backs. Like that hasn’t happened the majority of the series
your videos are more entertaining than the actual show. im glad M's feeling better now.
Glad to see you back M and i just wanna say holy snap adora seems to get worse and even more silly glimmer needs to stop acting stupid and thank you for pointing out the lack of communication between queen Angela and princess glimmer also it does not make sense for bow and glimmer to keep adora away from shadow weaver considering she is willing to spill the secrets on how to stop the horde (i mean to some degree it does but the guards could watch over adora while she was talking to shadow weaver just in case something happens)
Y’all are both so precious! Glad you’re back M! ♥️
Yay welcome back
Welcome back M! Just in time for She-Ra! yaaaaay.
Season 3 is where things actually happen, which is both a relief and a disgrace because up to now we had about 14 episodes of nothing (I'm willing to give the Princesses' introductory episodes a pass). This episode shows they can actually move the plot along, but they're still burdened by their poor pacing and lack of understanding of comedic AND dramatic timing. What a shame, but hey, that's just reboot She-Ra, I guess...
20:22 - It's really, really creepy to what kind of audience they are catering to.
YAY! M is back! J is happy! M and J are together again!
M and J. Perfectly balanced. As all thing should be.
Nice
Awesome to see you back, M. J did a great job solo, but you two work even better as a unit. Can't comment on the rest of the video, cause I still haven't watched She-Ra s3, but I will come back once I do.
Scorpia could just be tall for her age. She might be in her late teens while Catra is in her early or mid teens. On the other hand, this show is a joke, so I don't think ages or age differences matter.
Welcome back M.
Welcome back, M! Glad to see you're better!
Welcome back!
Twelve Forever is a better Netflix show about a young girl going on adventures in a magical world with her 2 friends than She-Ra
Maldon 365 Funny you say that. They talked about Hilda in a past video and compared it to She-Ra
@@Groomsman Hilda is good too and Infinity Train is another good show centering around a young girl and her friends going on magical adventures.
Maldon 365 Jeez. I think there’s a trend going on
Aside from the last 2 episodes, I agree. and they better know how to deal with romance
Can M & J review Twelve Forever please?
12:49 Is it me or does She-Ra's sword change size, length, and width depending on the scene. One minute there's a wide blade, then a thin one, then it shrinks to fit on her back... which they never explain how it stays there with no scabbard, and makes a SHING sound for some reason when she draws it out.
Internal consistency has never been valued in this production. Though it was shown to be able to shapeshift, these never look like moments of that happening deliberately, they just look like errata because it's clear it's meant to have a consistent shape and design as the basic sword form that is never quite there from scene to scene. Similar reasons to how Glimmer's powers don't work when the plot needs them to- because they keep acting like she has finite cast limit before needing a long rest ala D&D but then depicting teleporting 10 times in a scene...
Those age gaps are creepy asf!
Good to have you back M!
You were well missed
this season was ok,its like they tried harder ,iand as for there ages catra was said to be 18,adura 17 or 18,i now it was said in an interview back from season 2 or be for the start of season 3 that entrapta 28,scopia's 26-28 i think
i hope that the rest of the show keeps up the theme they had this season ,no pillow fights or fun time ,or proms and d and d games ,i feel lik maybe next season which maybe out in December or January will show use more of catra ,
