Let's make no comparisons, ok? =) Each guitarist has its peculiar style of play. And both, Morse and Blackmore, deserve their merits. They're excepcional guitarists and musicians!
Yeah, I love Blackmore more than anybody but without Morse there would have been no more Purple and for that we must show Steve much deserved respect. Purple with Morse is much better than no Purple at all !!
Yes. I have this DVD too. =) It's the "Deep Purple - New, Live & Rare Vol. 2", isn't it? Which I talked about some comments ago... PS: Sorry, I can read very well the Spanish, but I can't write...
The name of the DVD is: Deep Purple - New, Live & Rare Vol. 2 I bought it here in Brasil for a trifle... I hope you can find it for so little money too... =)
we cant discuss tastes, but i also think that this is BY FAR the best version with the most feelings in it. @gurumts: Richie was a legend and a great guitarist, but Steve Morse is great too with a different voice from his Guitar, more Rock-Blues sound. It is still Deep Purple for me and lots of others. @ warmpoop: if this sucks, im curious to know what doesnt for you? Finally @HGozzer, this was in Montreux, France
Here the link is working... There're 5 spaces in the link... I think you missed one... Well... Two spaces, before and after the dot after the word "rapidshare"... Two spaces, before and after the dot after the word "mpg"... And one space between the letters "v" and "e" in the word "live" I only saw this one now... and I didn't do this... youtube made it for itself =P I hope it works now... =)
Yeah For sure, the older songs are not the same. Different musicians in different ages with different experiences and different influences. The results wouldn't never be the same indeed! The original version is superb! =) Although I don't think Ritchie's solo is exquisite. I think it's too simple and unadorned. He could have done more, in my humble opinion. But it's just a matter of likes.
morse and verheyen shared the best guitarist crown for 8 years then both gave the up competeing to give someone else a chance(yes there was such a competition run over several days) satriani won it ever since bless him! blackmore took up the lute nuff said
Hey, Sorry for the lateness... Here is the link... And for anyone who wants the video too... rapidshare . com/files/42956964/Deep_Purple_-_When_A_Blind_Man_Cries__live_.mpg . html (just erase the empty spaces)
But... "Steve Morse does a reasonable job" C'mon, man... don't be unfair. Steve Morse is a magnificent musician! A complete and complex guitar player! Just listen to his solo career band (Steve Morse Band) and The Dixie Dregs, band which he also plays guitar in. I'm not here to defend only Morse, because I love some Ritchie's songs and solos - some of them legendary and unquestionably significant for the guitar history -, but let's not be unfair and unilateral. =)
Well, this video I ripped off from the DVD "Deep Purple - New, Live & Rare Vol. 2". I purchased it for a pittance here, about $5, whereas it costs $98.25 in the Amazon. com. I think they're kidding... or must be an error... But, if you want only this video specifically, I can upload it in any share-files site for you. It has, give or take, 70 MB...
HD, I don't know... The best I can do is rip off from the DVD in 480p, because it's in a old DVD I have here, so, 480p is the maximum quality. But I'd really like to have it in HD too! If you ever get to find in HD, please let me know! Please!!!
The best version of this song, ever.
More than 10 years! And I never get tired of listening to it every now and then...
The best version of this song! I love it! :D
Cara, esse solo do morse, sem duvidas é um dos melhores que já ouvi, pqp!
What a great solo....fantastic and very emotional...
This is a very good live version.
this was the BEST version of solo by Steve Morse for this song among other live concerts! And looks like it is very rare video on youtube
yeah I got this DVD
it's perfect
the lazy version of this DVD it's fantastic too
and have a rare song: fire, ice & dynamite finishing
the best DVD!
bravo,absolutly fantastic
First Time Ever Hearing that Song Great Guitar
I was in that concert. It's San Jose, Costa Rica
Let's make no comparisons, ok? =)

I like what Morse has done but I wish he also kept in the original solo - its awesome and the best aprt of the song IMO.
Fantastic !
Yes, best version and it was in Montreux.
I think it's the version from
DVD: New, Live & Rare 84-2000
When A Blind Man Cries (Live, San Jose, 8 Feb 1998)
beautiful
De fato é uma ótima versão!
Mas a versão de 1997 gravada no Olympia, em São Paulo, que a band televisionou na época, pra mim, é imbatível!
quem sentu um arrepio ai da um joinha ai ,,
