At least with Iwata he's actually the president of Nintendo and not just some random dude they pulled out of their studio. It gives off the impression that their president and the guy making all the decisions actually gets personally involved with each project, rather then have the president not care about the quality of each individual product and only be there for the money.

ElmntNinja Fallout 4 is a perfect example. They used the actual ingame graphics, and they had Call of Duty fanboys saying that the graphics were not good enough, because they didn't have dynamic, strokable dog hair.
Really? I guess that just goes to show you how spoiled people are these days. Seriously, for an FPS, Metroid Prime graphics are all I'd need. It looks really good today, even though it was made over ten years ago. It doesn't need to be better. If the game is fun and you can tell what's what without your eyes bleeding, then that's a fine game. You don't need so many little details, and the wow factor goes away after a while anyway, so it's not so important. Plus, that probably jacks up the prices and development time. Seriously, why do people care so much about system specs? All you need is a solid framerate and 7th gen level graphics, I honestly think you should focus more on the games when comparing consoles these days.
TRONMERN CUTSMAN It's a shame a lot of people only care for the graphics, I have actually seen some people really hate the gameplay of the game but play it just because it looks good... which makes me question their logic.
WOW. That is just stupid. I always believed that fun gameplay should be a game's top priority and most important part. Story can help boost the overall enjoyment, but shouldn't hinder it either, even if it sucks, and graphics only need to be pleasant. If you have fun playing the game because it's a fun game, that's really all that matters.
To be honest, I think a lot of people like watching Iwata presenting for Nintendo because he's like an awkward stick - Nintendo's inability to never stop coming across amateurish at least makes it feel like you're still just watching a company presenting games and trying to do their thing, instead of Microsoft simultaneously trying to stuff all their desperate attempts at being hip and identifiable with teens down your throat.
Iwata was so awkward because.. Well, he's Japanese. It's clear his English isn't perfect, and our culture is very, very different from Japan's. If I had to do the things Iwata did in Japanese, in Japan, I'd seem awkward too. Though I'm learning the language, I barely know how to write a paragraph. But I've probably said too much.
I think the arguments about "who won" are worse than the whole event.

Game companies reveals a game by showing a cinematic cutscenes, people are upset that they didn't show any actual gameplay footage. Bethesda releases a trailer for Fallout 4 showing actual in-game footage, and everyone complains saying the graphics look bad. Just make up your fucking mind people!

I think the actual reason, is that countless of people get "being a fan of someone" or "knowing the work of someone" confused with "actually knowing a person".
I know Iwata made a lot of good advertisements (and a fair share of shit advertisements), but when you point that out, people who love Nintendo think they "know" the man, just because they saw his work, and therefore must jump to his defense (even though there was no critique of him as a person, but of his work). As if he would care now that he passed away.

bajscast No, not really. Do you know how long animation takes? Not to mention all of the other editing. He probably had to watch every one of those conferences to find the bits he put in, then he had to edit them together, but before that he had to script the episode, and then animating his character, adding that in, and then posting to youtube.

A lot of people hated Fallout 4's trailer for looking "shitty" or otherwise unappealing. I honestly believe the reason for this is that it wasn't a pre rendered trailer. The entire thing was done in engine. And people are so trained to appreciate the beauty and majesty of CGI trailers that they literally can't handle a trailer that's actually representative of the actual game. Kinda sad really

I still remember when they showed off Vib Ribbon at last years E3 without making any announcements whatsoever, and fans got upset over it. So much so they re-released it on PS3 and Vita later on, but only for Americans who never got to play it, where as Europeans and Australians are left out to just track down a rare PS1 copy online.

I think Iwata died during July, it was a great lost for the gaming industry
although sometimes he had awkward moments, he enjoyed them unlike the tons of memes that were born in E3
He just wanted to see the Fans happy. He was and still is an Icon of the Video Game Industry, and news of his Passing was shocking to many of us. While yes, he had lost weight and we saw that in the final few Nintendo Directs before his Passing, we didn't know the extent of the Issue that caused him to miss E3 2014 and 2015, and he did a great job of Hiding it, for the Fans, so they wouldn't be super worried about him, because the Happiness of the Fans came First for Iwata.
E3 2016 was awesome, though. It was a beautiful presentation for the new Zelda.
