Nigel Reeve, Curator of the Queen's parks showed me his way of unfurling a hedgehog; hold it bottom side down on the palm of your hands and gently bounce your hands up and down. The hedgehog comes out of hiding to see what's going on. Something that works for me is to hold your balled up subject with it's bottom side resting on one hand while you gently tracing circles with the forefinger of your other hand on the top of it's back just below it's shoulders (if it has any).
@@Shiloh-wm8vz Hedgehogs are very shy creatures with sensitive ears and nose, you need to be very quiet and patient to condition them. They probably weren't taking care of it properly, or made too many loud noises

@@Anecia0310 Works 10000 times better than this bullshit method shown here. Just a couple days ago I caught a hedgehog stuck in my firewood stack. I wanted to inspect if he's fine and if he didn't happen to break his legs/feet while climbing and falling over wood logs, I did steps from this video and kept stroking him for like 10 minutes and nothing worked. Got pissed off in the end and simply threw him up and down a couple times, he will unroll instantly. Of course he will be scared and won't walk, and will try to roll back up quickly but at least I could inspect his feet and underside for injuries that way.
Wymiatacz Plays But did u know throwing a hedgehog up and down hurts them? I have a hedgehog and she’s named Isabella and when I do this she doesn’t do anything and starts hissing more and then she bit me But now for having her for 2 years already I’ve done more research and still look up these things to make sure I’m doing things still right. And this video is right and was also recommended from her doctor. And by throwing it on its back stimulates the stomach of hedgehog and the reason it unrolls is because your hurting it’s belly.and when they have to much things moving around them they start throwing up and then u gotta take them to the exotic animal hospital.
I feel like stroking a hedgehogs back would be a ASMR..........
Genius idea
Trust me no.. Just no.. Well not with your bear hands maybe with gloves......... If you dont have gloves then maybe not..

Ma’am, that’s a wild hedgehog. Where did you get that from?
They’re common in the UK, which is where this wildlife rescue is.
